Character name:
Nyx.
Character source:
Original, based in the Dragon Age: Origins universe.
Character history:
Nyx was born into the noble family of Amell, but was raised by the Circle of Magi in the Circle Tower. For such a wealthy and influential family to raise a child of magical blood was unheard of, and would certainly have sullied the family name. Nyx was never told who her real parents were, and firmly believed the other magi were her family - that is, until The Harrowing. Though she successfully fought the demon and survived the Fade, the voices lingered..
The demons seduced Nyx into learning (and practicing) forbidden Blood Magic. She spent whatever time she could poring over books on the forbidden art, practicing in the confines of her room within the Circle Tower. She truly believed she had slipped under the radar, until Alistair's Templars burst into her room and found her covered in her own blood, a dead Apprentice at her side.
With Templars closing in on her, Nyx's fate was sealed: either she would die, or become Tranquil. She wasn't counting on a third option: waking up in the Omniverse..
Stats:
ATK: 2
DEF: 3
SPD: 3
TEC: 2
Starting Proficiencies:
Ranged Proficiency - 1000 OM
Reflector Proficiency - 800 OM
Starting Powers:
Hive Mind - 400 OM
Starting Moves:
Blood Bolt - 300 OM
Nyx sheds her blood in order to send a ranged projectile at her foe. This serves as a basic physical attack, but allows her to engage enemies from a (relatively) safe distance.
Empathy - 600 OM
If Nyx attacks, whatever damage she deals to herself is shared by her opponent.
If Nyx defends, half of the damage dealt to her is also shared by her opponent. To activate the defense, Nyx must damage herself before the attack hits. The spell is visible by a red glow around her. Super Moves cannot be defended against with Empathy.
Writing example:
Quote:A few blocks down from the pet store, a twenty-three year old slacker called Lucien was busy sneaking into the local Starbucks. He knew that getting a hot beverage was out of the question, but surely the frappuccinos would’ve survived the power cut? They wouldn’t taste as good, having not been refrigerated for very long, but they’d be drinkable; and Lucien felt like he needed a caffeine fix right now.
When the Infection had begun to spread, he was lounging around in his flat with his housemates. They were playing Rock Band - and yes, half of Lucien’s housemates did believe that succeeding at playing Expert guitar made them real guitarists. As they were arguing over the next song, they had heard a strange, guttural snarl. A black hooded figure had leapt through the glass, shattering it, and aimed for Lucien’s best friend.
“Dude, what the he--” one of Lucien’s roommates had begun, although he found that he lost his voice when the hooded figure began to tear the girl apart as though she was a weightless doll. It hungrily fed on her, growling all the while, though apparently oblivious to the other humans surrounding it. Lucien had been the only one smart enough to turn tail and run, as his friends stood and stared at what would eventually become their fate.
The boy had been on the run ever since. He’d played enough survival horror games to know the basics - that you shouldn’t stay in one place for too long, keep as quiet as possible, etc. Truth be told, though, he hadn’t slept in days. He didn’t dare to. He couldn’t. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw their terrified faces. He watched her blood line the walls as the Infected tore her to shreds. He had named this beast ‘the Hunter’.
Lucien hugged his jacket tighter around his skinny frame as he approached the entrance. The door had been torn from its hinges and lay discarded a few feet away. As the boy’s blue gaze scanned the debris, he couldn’t help but feel a little sick. The bodies of the humans that didn’t make it into undeath were scattered all around; some were slumped over tables, others were hanging off of chairs, and some were in pieces across the floor. The boy had to remind himself that he hadn’t eaten in days, and that now was not the time to become squeamish.
Picking the best path he could through the macabre scene, he eventually arrived at the refrigerator. Not much was left, admittedly. He grabbed a caramel frappuccinos and a few ready-made sandwiches, trying to ignore the bloodstains on the packaging. He thanked the powers that be that the blood wasn’t in his drink or on his food.
Realizing that two sandwiches and a coffee weren’t enough to keep him going, Lucien decided that there must be more supplies in the back room. He could see the door from where he stood - it seemed to be a little ajar, and the dim light from the street was bouncing off something in that room. Setting the sandwiches aside (but keeping a grip on his frappuccino,) Lucien inched towards the door.
Someone was sobbing in the supply cupboard, and from the sounds of it, it was a woman. “Hello?” the boy called tentatively, taking a few small steps towards the door. “Are you okay?” There was no answer, only the continuous sobbing of this poor girl. Wondering what on earth had happened to her - and feeling overwhelmed that he actually had found another survivor, - Lucien picked up the pace and pushed the door open.
Big. Mistake.
As light poured into the room, Lucien’s gaze fell upon the girl who had been crying. She wasn’t a girl at all; she was one of them. Her skin was deathly pale, and she had long, black claws where nails should have been. Her hair was an odd shade of strawberry blonde and was matted with blood. Lucien was lucky he couldn’t see her face… well, until the light hit her, anyway.
Her head jerked in his direction, revealing livid red eyes that positively seethed with rage. As she opened her mouth to scream at him, he saw fangs. Just what the hell WAS this girl?! Whatever she was, Lucien didn’t want to stick around to find out.
He pivoted and bolted towards the exit with the white-haired banshee thing in tow. His heart thundered from beneath his ribcage as he scanned the streets, looking for somewhere he could seek solace. He spotted the pet store. It was big, it had multiple floors… it would do.
He sprinted towards the door of the pet shop, not bothering to look over his shoulder. The banshee had disappeared, much to Lucien’s relief… but where had she disappeared off to?

Character Name: Garona Halforcen
Character Source: Warcraft Series
Character History:
Garona is the product of a forced tryst between an Orcish father and a Draenei mother, as ordered by the warlock, Gul’dan, who essentially sold his people into slavery to Kil’Jaeden (or Beautiful One), and through him, Sargeras.
She was never accepted by the Orcs, whom she had the most contact during her brief childhood, nor the Draenei, with the exception of her maternal uncle, Vindicator Maraad. She drifts in an “in-between”, her very, very few close allies being mostly human.
Garona was magically aged by Gul’dan, and her real age is unknown. She has been trained by the ruthless warriors of Draenor for most of her life, and has become an expert spymaster and shapeshifter.
Her life revolves around the Job, her assignments having initially being handed out to her by her master, and then finally, she began accepting assignments for a bounty offered by those with enough money to toss around in exchange for her services.
Currently, Garona is preparing for her next assignment: to investigate the newly discovered portals to worlds other than Draenor and Azeroth. The rumors say that they can take one to worlds that are complex and highly advanced, far beyond anything she could ever imagine.

Starting Powers: Stealth (1200 OM), Illusory Shapeshifting (600 OM) (1800 OM)
Total: 1600+1800= 3400
Starting Moves:
-Sinister Strike: Her primary special attack. It is usually reserved for more intense tactical battles, or when subtlety is necessary to conceal a fatal blow.
-Deadly Poison: Her special mix of poison coats her blades and deals a small bit of extra damage over time to targets unfortunate enough to be sliced or come in contact with the blade.
Writing Sample:
The Quiet. It surrounded her, drew her deep into its embrace, and cleared her thoughts, her inhibitions; it was where that voice that gave her a moral foothold was quickly lost to the darkness within her mind. This was the place she escaped to just before her dagger found purchase deep within the flesh of her target. It was where she found herself now, her physical body melded to the firmly muscled, velvet-skinned form of her mark. She had given him a taste of her exotic essence, and in return, he would procure her enough gold to keep her comfortable for months.
Although the money was nice, what she valued the most-what kept her killing time and time again- was that pleasure she got as the last beats of life pounded weaker and weaker from the hearts of her victims. It was the fact that their lives were now hers, and she destroyed them, utterly and completely, with unwavering impunity. Each life, each soul, fed something deep within her, and that something was a greedy master, always demanding more…more…. So, she gave it more.
He was completely oblivious, fingertips trailing deftly down the muscles that lined each side of her spine, slicking with her sweat, until they came to a rest where her thigh met the rounded fullness of her buttock. His hand squeezed at that plushness, his breath coming out as a labored sigh as he restrained the urge to consume her. He wanted her; the need was so overwhelming that he didn’t see the glint of the blade as she slipped it from behind the headboard mere moments before he forced her down onto the mattress, pinning her with his body, mouth clamped over hers and hands exploring the soft green flesh that felt like heaven. His groin burned, pulsing with need that hardened his body with the desire for release.
She cried out as his fingertips kneaded a path up her torso and over her ribcage. Feeling him as he palmed over her old scars flat out rocked her. Although the pleasure she wrought from their tryst was different than his, she had to admit it felt good. She almost regretted having to kill him, but duty came first over the urges of the flesh.
Her legs wrapped around his hips, drawing him the closest they could get while still clothed, and it wasn’t enough. She wanted his blood to blanket her in its liquid warmth as she crested, drawing the power from his body as he plummeted towards death. He thrust against her, and she gasped loudly, forcing her to look up at him. His eyes, clear and grey like ripe storm clouds, burned with his need. Her mind blanked, and that one instant that it took for her to escape to that quiet gave her the time to detach herself from the physical sensation, and plunged the dagger deep into his side. The blade glinted off the bone as it slipped between the ribs and sank all the way to the hilt. She watched his face as it danced between pleasure and pain, feeling him harden against her, and then ripped the blade from his body, blood spilling from the wound and enrobing her in a hot, shimmering ribbon. The knife clanked to the floor, and her hands swept up her torso, smearing the blood over more of her flesh. The Mark began to jerk, forcing more blood to spurt from the wound, and she felt the familiar tingle as it seized her muscles, rolling up her legs, her abdomen, her chest…and then he collapsed atop of her, and all she could do was smile as the sensation overcame her, rode her, and finally began its ebb.
Gul’dan’s metaphysical tug pulled her from her ecstasy, something that instantly filled her with resentment. He knew not to disturb her while she worked, and certainly not while she basked in the blood and took her pleasure from it. It was far too personal, almost like how most humans treated sex and intimacy. It just simply wasn’t done.
“Nice work, my pet.” Gul’dan whispered into her mind. Although it was typically a one-way street, he usually picked up on her emotions, but usually didn’t give a shit. “Lap it all up, precious one, and then come home. I have another assignment for you.”
Notes: This is obviously not exactly the same Garona as portrayed in canon. I’ve changed some things, made her use more of her “charms” as a sort of weapon into itself. Gul’dan is still alive, and still has some sway over her. I’ll flesh out more details as I write.

Got a few questions for you.
First, what information does Omni give us upon arrival? As in, do we know about what Verses exist, the power-players among the NPCs, what happens when we die, etc?
Secondly, for myself and Link, having a piece of the Triforce is part of our characters. I dunno if you plan to use those pieces as part of an artifact, so I'm wondering if we still possess those pieces or if we'll need to find them at a later date? This goes for other characters that have artifact-like things as part of their character; characters such as Frodo and his ring.
Thirdly, I know the site officially kicks off on the 28th with a story. Are we able to roleplay our intro into the world now, in the Nexus forum?

Since I figure we're going to have an influx of people soon who know each other, a mandatory introductions topic.
I'm Greg. I made the site I think? I'm also Samus, when I'm not roleplaying all the NPCs for storylines. I was Super Buu, Rose and Garbanz on Chubbs DBZ RPG. I was Samus on Another Destiny, too.

Need a move approved? We've got the ... glaives you crave? Just post your damn moves.
When writing more unusual moves, try to be as descriptive as possible. How is the move performed? What does it look like? How does it feel to get hit with it? This helps a lot when you're roleplaying someone else's character and moves. See the following checklist from the Moves Rules for ideas of what you'll need to include in the description.
Quote:-How powerful is it? Does it have a wide area of effect, or multiple projectiles? How big is the weapon? What size are the projectiles?
-Is it instantaneous, or quick to use? Or is it slow?
-Is it difficult to aim? Must it be aimed at all?
-Does it have effects that linger after the user is no longer performing the move? If so, how long do they last?
-Can the user move around or do other things at full effectiveness while using the move? Must they be stationary?
-Does the user have to maintain their focus, or is it ‘fire and forget’?
-What does it look like? How is it performed? How does it feel to get hit with it?
To figure out what proficiencies you'll need to purchase a move, use this quick checklist:
Is it melee-based? If so, you'll need the Physical Strength proficiency.
Does it attack at range? If yes, you'll need the Ranged Proficiency.
Does it continue to deal additional damage after it has been used? If yes, you'll need the Damage-Over-Time proficiency.
Is the target area big enough to hit more than one target? Can it miss and still do damage from 'splash' damage? Is it a shield which covers an entire person? If yes to any of these questions, you'll need the Wide Proficiency.
Can it be manually controlled by the user at range, like an elemental kinesis? If yes, you'll need the Remote-Control Proficiency.
It is a projectile which locks-onto the target, or an attack which simply appears on the target like magical bindings? If yes, you'll need the Lock-On Proficiency.
Can it impair the target's movement, attacking or defensive capabilities, mental faculties, vision, hearing or anything else in that vein? If yes, you'll need the Debilitate Proficiency.
The most moves you can get approved in advance is 5. This is so people don't just dump huge piles of moves to get priced and fixed up, creating lots of work for staff. If you want to get more moves approved, purchase some of the ones you already got approved. Staff may approve extra stuff for you, but have the right to refuse until you purchase moves.

Character name:
Link
Character source:
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Character history:
After collecting the three spiritual stones, unlocking the Door of Time, receiving the Master Sword, freeing the Sages and defeating Ganondorf, Zelda stood before Link. Hyrule was saved thanks to the Hero of Time, but now he was to experience the seven years he lost sealed in the Sacred Realm. As she played the delicate notes on the Ocarina of Time, Link's body dissolved into the stream of time.
What happened next, not even the holder of the Triforce of Wisdom could predict ...
Stats:
ATK: 3
DEF: 3
SPD: 1
TEC: 3
Starting Proficiencies:
Physical Strength (1000 OM), Ranged Proficiency (1000 OM)
Starting Powers:
None.
Starting Moves:
Master Sword - A weapon forged by the goddess Hylia in ancient times, imbued with the power to defeat evil. Even the strongest of monsters feel the cold sting of this blade.
Hylian Shield - Decorated with the Triforce and the Royal Family Crest, this metal shield is an excellent defense against other weapons such as swords, arrows, and fire.
Writing example:
The castle was deathly still. Echoes of crumbling stones broke the cloying silence. Link still had his sword drawn, unsure of the Ganondorf's fate. Misshapen walls of black stone stacked on top of one another. Ragged, dirt stained carpet twisted beneath a heavy wooden door. The idea that a man could survive an entire castle collapsing upon them was ludicrous, but Link had an uneasy feeling in his gut. He looked to Zelda. She looked as cautious and concerned as he felt, her sapphire eyes slowly absorbing the ruin, snapping to the direction of a tumbling stone. Dust and sweat stuck to her pale skin, and the edges of her pink dress were blackened by fire. Overall she was fine, as he was, considering an entire castle fell about them only moments ago.
Link couldn't tell how long they stood there, motionless, waiting for a sign of the enemy. He sucked in a deep breath and let it out. The battle was won. He turned to Princess Zelda, ready to say as much, before a loud clunk suffocated the stillness. Zelda gasped and Link instinctively shielded her, but nothing came. His heart beat furiously in his chest. An itch tingled on his left hand; he looked at it and saw the golden Triforce shimmer into his glove, the lower right triangle glowing bright.
Taking small steps, Link walked towards the rubble, his throat dry and brow slick with sweat. The Master Sword in his left hand, his Hylian Shield in his right, he approached the location of the sound. He swept a sharp glance over the mound of debris, searching for the slightest movement, but he found nothing. The mystical blade hummed the closer he went, as if reacting to something nearby. Link didn't want to think what that meant.
In a terrifying heart beat, a black figure burst from the debris. Stone and dust exploded around him, but it quickly settled. Ganondorf, his breath raspy and laboured, stared at Link with soulless yellow eyes, the pupils gone. Defiance burned in his gaze as he lifted his clenched hand, shaking. The Triforce of Power burned into his skin, mocking every effort Link had made to bring down the almighty tyrant. Ganondorf drew his limbs into his centre, his voice a quiet growl, until he flung his body rigid and his horrible cry echoed into the gloomy clouded sky. White light blazed from him like an evil sun until Link could no longer bear to look at him any longer. When the light faded, Ganondorf was gone. In his place, a massive, boar faced demon brandished two swords taller than Link was. He screeched and swung the blades around in fury, his voice no longer human.
The true battle against Ganon was about to begin.
