Quick question: Do you need a move to "express" your DEF like we do with ATK? If NOT, then do we need moves to express things like shields? You gave me a price for the Hard Light Shield, so I'm assuming there must be some kinda difference.

This thread is to gauge interest in a possible saga we might run if we can hassle Greg about it enough, or someone else wants to run it. I'd prefer not to, since I'd like to take the role of a player in the saga, which is hard to do with a competitive saga like this one.

The basics of the saga would involve two factions, one 'good' and the other 'evil'. Players would be randomly assigned to each faction, so as to keep the numbers even. In the old saga, we fought for control of a realm; however I think in this setting it would be best fought to 'extinction' instead.

The two factions are the Ing and the Luminoth. The Ing faction would be possessed by dark entities which would control their hosts during the saga. The Luminoth faction would be protected from said infection, if I remember correctly, though no other changes would occur with the character. Players will have the chance, before the saga kicks off, to give their preference of which side they would like to be a part of, though if one side is over-strength, some people may have to make a sacrifice in their choice, which would be done via a random number generator.

What does everyone think? Obviously, this won't kick off for awhile, since many players are in the middle of intensive storylines, so this is really just to see who might be interested in this concept for the future.

So, with the new updated rule for NPC's, I'd like to offer up my services as a writer to help anyone out who's stumped or needs a little interaction. If you have an NPC you really wanna bounce off of I'll fill in the blanks. I'm all for helping . I'm pretty versatile in my writing to fill most roles, I'm especially good at writing male characters.

What do you mean I've never mentioned this before? And it's no longer September? I'm pretty sure I did, and I'm pretty sure it still is. I'll have you know I run a very important website. I THINK I know what I'm talking about.

But, just in case I've never mentioned this before, monthly awards are where I give shout-outs to folks I feel deserve it. The categories are whatever I feel like, the only thing that stays the same is the RPer of the month award, which is self-explanatory. WHO WILL WIN IT THIS MONTH???

Obviously this is our first 'ceremony' - I don't count that little bit of august as a month - so it is prudent to reflect on how things have been this first month on the Omniverse. It's been trying, and turbulent - both for the players, trying to get to grips with all the new rules, the staff, getting into the swing of enforcing these rules for the first time, and for the characters, who just got yanked from their omniversally happy, peaceful lives (totally) into a universe filled with other superpowered weirdos (okay, the Marvel characters probably aren't that phased). But it's been hella exciting, and I'm stoked to see you where you guys take it from here. So without further ado, September's monthly awards!

Now, this award might seem unfair to you guys, because he has an obvious advantage, but I don't give a shit! He's been awesome, and helped out a bunch of people, and been incredibly patient and understanding both with the members and with myself because that's who he is. Honestly, as I said to him when he offered his help, he's the only person I would make staff for the Omnvierse without a second's thought because he's the most helpful guy you'll ever have around. This award goes to Ganondorf!

Now, so far we're quite new so obviously there are no completed stories to go with ... but there's one story that I'll be keeping my eye on for sure, and that's MDGEIST's escapades on the Skylark! Who will die next, and how? Will anyone's head be squeezed so hard that their eyeballs pop out? These are the questions that keep me up at night.

BEST GROUP STORY

It was a tough call between them and the Dunes group, but these guys have just blown everyone away with their activity, and for those who've been able to keep up with their insane writing speed, the writing itself is pretty sublime too. I feel almost bad jumping the gun on this, knowing that the best is still in the pipeline (I have been given ... hints ...), but I've got no regrets awarding the best group story award to Whirda and Nyx! Their story in The Tangled Green has ended, but their journey intoThe Pale Moors is just beginning ...


HOO BOY. Them's some awards, for sure. But there's one award that you won't be getting this month. Why? Because you're not the best. Unless maybe you are, but I can only give one person the award because SCREW YOU.

Seriously though, this was a pretty tough pick because there's been some excellent writing in this first month. Picking this award was like being shown a bunch of awesome hotdogs and being told "You can only have ONE. The others will be discarded, because this is an arbitrary analogy and shut up". I believe it's the best roleplayers who can take a situation and roll with it. Not just that, but get other players involved while still respecting their characters, and the setting.

Ganondorf!

C'mon man. Look at this guy. He may have a pig for a mother, he may have a nose that puts the admin's to shame, but he NEVER LET IT HOLD HIM BACK. Within moments of arriving at the Nexus, he was plotting and planning, and by the end of the Scramble he'd already made his impact on everyone there. You know this isn't the last we've seen of Ganondorf. And in the desert? He beat Eighteen by distracting her with a kiss. Such. A dastard. An evil dastard. Excuse my Fire Emblem. His and Thaal's adventures in the Dunes have only just begun, but you can be sure that OMNI will be keeping his gaze on this one.


That's all, bitches! If you didn't get an award this month, what the fuck is wrong with you? Seriously, try harder. Or ... y'know, just send me your best pictures of Samus. That's an open offer. No, I'm kidding. Haha. Hahaha. But do try harder. I'll give an award for pretty much anything, you know, as long as it makes me want to high five you.

Misfortune seemed to hang above Whirda and Nyx like a particularly bad smell. This was something that Nyx had begun to accept since she had first entered the green portal in the clinical abyss otherwise known as The Nexus. However, as her red eyes fluttered open on the other side of the grey stone portal, the blood made found herself questioning whether their luck was changing or not. Though it had been at least a week since Nyx had last tried stepping through a portal, she distinctly remembered being dropped in the middle of nowhere. This time, things were different.

The blood mage realized she was leaning against her Nightsaber, Thanatos. His hulking furry mass rose and fell with every breath, though she soon felt him shudder as he sprawled into a stretch. She leant back against him and looked to Whirda, who slowly regained consciousness beside her beloved steed, Cascade. She stood and patted herself down, checking she still had everything from the transitions. They had passed through both portals (from the Tangled Green to the Nexus, and from the Nexus to the Pale Moors) in record time. Nyx followed suit, and was comforted to learn she still had everything – most importantly, her dagger and her staff were still in her possession.

'What took you so long, Amell?'

Nyx stiffened, her hand instinctively curling around the hilt of her dagger. Who was speaking to her, and more importantly, how did they know her name? In fact, the more the blood mage thought about it, how did she know that was her name? It had been years since anyone had called her anything other than Apprentice, Witch or Nyx. Her surname had not been spoken since she was born. Of that, she was certain. This wasn't Ferelden, either – so how could anyone know?

“Is everything okay?” Whirda asked, brows knitted together.

“I'm fine,” Nyx replied, forcing herself to relax. She did an excellent job of slumping against Thanatos, but she didn't look entirely at ease. “It's just that going through portals is going to take some getting used to, that's all.”

Whirda regarded Nyx suspiciously, but kept quiet and mounted Cascade. Nyx watched her for a moment, almost envying the tangible bond between horse and rider, then climbed onto her Nightsaber's back. When the shock had worn off, both Nyx and Whirda took a look around at their new surroundings.

In many ways, the Pale Moors resembled the Blighted Lands from whence they had came. Everything looked so lifeless and dark. The trees that weren't skeletal in nature were gnarled and decrepit, looming over mossy stone and fallen leaves. No flowers grew, only weeds. The weeds shot from the cracks in the stone in a desperate, if futile plea for light. No natural light shone here. The sky was thick with clouds that blotted out the sun and moon, greatly reducing visibility and enhancing the eerie shadows cast by anything and everything in the vicinity. Someone had clearly tried to make the area more habitable and navigable – lanterns were dotted around the mossy path, leading further into the darkness.

Simply standing in the Pale Moors felt like an emotionally draining experience, akin to witnessing someone's suffering. If that wasn't bad enough, neither Nyx or Whirda could shake the feeling that they were being watched. But by what, or whom?

“There,” Whirda stated, pointing south of the portal. The silhouette of a small townscape on the horizon could clearly be seen, but that was not what had drawn Whirda's attention.

”A town?” Nyx said, in total disbelief. For one, these lands looked far from hospitable; and for another, she could scarcely believe the portal had dropped them somewhere nice. It almost seemed too good to be true. One glance across to Whirda was enough to inform her that she was not alone with that sentiment. ”Maybe they'll be able to tell us where to find the Professor.”

Whirda nodded, urging Cascade forward by gently digging her heels into him. Nyx followed suit. The riders advanced at a steady pace, both equally aware of their surroundings, poised and ready to unsheathe their weapons if necessary. All that could be heard were the sounds of hooves and paws upon damp stone. The beasts bristled whenever the wind whistled through the trees, the riders following suit. Everyone was on edge, and this was a tension that persisted even as they approached the gates to Darkshire.

“Halt!” cried a shadowy figure. Nyx and Whirda exchanged furtive glances as a guard stepped into the light. The lanterns hanging from either side of the gate to Darkshire cast a strange shadow across his face. Even despite the peculiar lighting, it was clear this particular guard was quite youthful – his face lacked the nicks and scars of someone who had seen many battles. However, his expression suggested he carried some kind of heavy burden – his lips were tight and stiff. It seemed unlikely that he could, or would, smile.

“Who goes there?”

Okay, so I've fought the urge long enough and finally hope to join this fine rpg. Been reading through the rules but was curious about something I haven't com across. I see that you guys have a Batman Beyond as Batman, does this in turn mean the original Batman can't join? Whether from Nolan's universe or not.

This isn't like a "if I can't be the bat then it's goodbye Matt" scenario. Just curious is all.

Alright, I get that Primes can store and use omnilium, but what kind of currency do the secondaries use? They can't make it into anytihng and they can't store it in themselves, but that doesn't mean they can't "sell" it to people who can I guess. Do Secondaries use OM as currency, do they barter, is it zone specific (buffallo dollars in The town With No Name and credits in Coruscant) or what's the deal there?
