Few primes/secondaries manage to be randomly selected to be advertised to so much, so we at the Pocket Pocket corporation would like YOU(s) to give feedback to our latest add. Ideally, the average citizens will be given names or be replaced with actors portraying people close to who we are advertising to. We enjoy any feedback you can give us.

  [M] Trashing the Trolls
Posted by: Jack Darby - 04-30-2018, 10:40 PM - Forum: Dataverse Messageboards - No Replies

Rafael was searching through the message boards of the Dataverse. Earlier he had found an advertisement on Nippur and they seemed to be looking for someone to become their tech support. Since it was a job he had done for his Autobot friends back home, Rafael nostalgically had sent a message that he would consider, so long as they provided him what he wanted. In this case, manuals, or scrolls, or tomes on how a Prime could regain some of the skills that they had in the past for themselves. As he continued his browsing of the internet of the Omniverse called the "Dataverse" according to his research he came across a video of sorts that would make the ruler of Nippur very unhappy if he were to see it. The video involved the King of Nippur sitting down on a toilet, only for it to explode and kill him. After that it showed him sitting down on his throne, and getting blown up by a ballistic missile. The video itself was one that Rafael found galling to say the least. It was certainly vexing  and likely would be so to the king of Nippur if he ever were to see such a video for himself. Of course what was the most apalling was the music choice that they had chosen to play in the background, a song that both Rafael and Unicron could unanimously agree they absolutely despised. It was the worst possible song choice the makers of the video could have ever selected to say the least. The music that had been chosen was a song known for many problems it caused people. The song if it could be called that was one that was driving Rafael to the point where he wanted something he was far too young to have, something that Unicron would not allow him to have.

The video itself not only had many creative ways of Gilgamesh to die, but each of them were more embarassing, and humiliating tham the one prior to them. One of them even had Gilgamesh sit down, only to get a lance driven up through his... no. The video had to go now. Rafael was not going to sully his mind by seeing anymore of the filth that the person had posted on the Omniverse about the King of Nippur.

His fingers flew across the keyboard at an alarming rate, hacking into the Dataverse account of the individual. After purging the individual's library completely of anything remotely resembling "music" that the individual had, Rafael went to work.

First he installed a virus that would cripple the internet of the individual first. Secondly, Rafael went through the computer of the individual. Given the problems he had with Cybertronians appearing on the internet, he wanted to make sure the video was not a repeated problem. The video was completely erased and he erased all components of it. As a final touch he also crashed the computer of the individual so completely that it would take the individual years to recover any data if he could recover any at all.

  Summer Syntech Polling
Posted by: Karl Jak - 04-30-2018, 06:03 PM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (67)

Next month, the Dante Verse will host their fourth annual Dante’s Abyss – a premiere event that showcases the best of the Omniverse vying for the title of Grand Champion.

The preshow facility will open in the first week of June, and the First Round will commence the 2nd weekend of June.

In sticking with my original plan, outlined back in August 2015, this is an even year and the plan is to do an event that is “meta-lite.”  While it can be entertaining to have x-factors and wild card and unforeseen twists of fate, it’s also nice to not have to deal with… the other – I’ll just call it “stuff” – that is common with our more framework- and rules-heavy events.

This summer’s Syntech event will thus be a tournament.

What type of tournament?  That part, I’m going to leave up to you people.  You have three options, and I’ll explain how they’ll work to the best of my ability down below.

Single Elimination – Think NFL playoffs.  You don’t know sports?  This is just your classic tournament, like the Camelot Colosseum that was run a few years ago (or the DBZ World Martial Arts tourneys).  You lose one fight, and you’re watching from the sidelines.  The only exception is the losers of the semi-finals will have a bonus fight for the third place prize.  This will be the highest stakes version of this event, as half the contestants will bow out every round.

Double Elimination – In a double-elimination tournament, there is a winner and a loser bracket.  When you lose, you drop down into the second bracket.  The winner of the loser’s bracket face each other for the championship (before anyone asks – if the winner of the winner’s bracket loses to the winner of the losers bracket, there is a rematch – that’s how every double elimination bracket goes]).  This version will take longer than a single elimination, but the ‘redemption’ angle will likely be great to read, as those who are eliminated vie to make the final.

Round Robin – In a round robin tournament, everyone will compete against everyone.  At the end of X rounds, the combatant with either the best cumulative score or the most wins will be the winner (if you vote Round Robin, please specify which you think would be more fair).  A round robin tournament would take the longest out of any of these formats, because everyone who have a chance to throw down with everyone (if we have 20+ people… you do the math), but this format also eliminates any bad luck from matchups.  You drew *Insert Token Great Writer* in Round 1?  As long as you write your best, you are still just in the thick of it as someone who drew *Insert Token Less Revered Writer*.

Misc things for all formats.

Quote:èWord Limit: 750
Posts: 3
Time Limit: 48 hours
èWith the exception of Round Robin and the ‘winners bracket’ of a Double-Elimination, losers risk gruesome death with defeat.
èBounties may be collected by defeating a wanted character.  Banishment Circles will not work for this event, though (but since none of you are Alex, I don’t foresee this upsetting people)
èEvery contestant will get “3 strikes”, which allow you to add 24 hours to your deadline for a post.  If you use up your 3 strikes, you will miss your post and lose a fraction of your score.
èSP loss and Damage points are restored between rounds.  SP use does not factor into judgement in a quantitative way.
èI will be using the same judge card as the Camelot Colosseum <http://omniverse-rpg.com/showthread.php?tid=8065> with feedback after rounds reflecting the number of fights (ie – I can’t write you a four-hundred-word reflection in the first round, when I’m dealing with several bouts)
èInitial seeding will be based on Earned OM.  “Seeding” refers to your slot on the bracket, with top seeds often facing off against the lowest seeds.  In a single elimination, I may split apart the bracket into different ‘divisions’ to disperse higher-seeded players.  It depends on the number of people.
èFights will take place in various locales in the Dante Verse.  These locations may have extra goodies that will serve as combat fluff.
èThere will be no Power or Move limitations.
èItems may be brought and used as you see fit but will provide no quantitative advantage
èArtefacts may be brought and used as you see fit but can be lost if you are defeated.
è1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will receive prizes similarly to last year's event.
èEverything will be managed through the Challonge online platform, which will provide up-to-date brackets and matchups throughout the event
Writers may join as their prime, or a pre-approved Prime NPC that is the same level or lower than the account it is bound to.

Feel free to ask clarifying questions.

  Sign on the Dotted Line
Posted by: Jim Raynor - 04-30-2018, 07:23 AM - Forum: The Endless Dunes - Replies (2)

The ute chugged to the edge of the Town With No Name. Jim applied the brakes and slowed down at the backside of the sheriff’s office. He grasped the rolled up piece of paper with the deal he had negotiated with Nippur’s diplomatic officer, hoping Ronald would endorse it officially with his signature. He popped open the door and jumped onto the hot sands.

“Adjutant, go ‘round back and see Swann,” Jim said to the robotic suit in the ute’s tray. “Get all the sand cleaned outta the joints.”

“Affirmative, commander,” the adjutant said, exiting the tray and heading off to complete her duty, leaving large and deep imprints in the sand.

Jim strolled around to the front door and let himself in. “Sheriff? You ‘round?”

It quickly became evident that he wasn’t. His desk was strewn with papers as usual, but the rickety old chair had been pushed out and was empty. The lantern he lit to keep working on through the night was without a flame.

Jim stuck his head out the door and glanced up at the velvet night. Roland was almost always in one of three places; his office, his house, or the bar. The moon wasn’t too high yet – not Deschain’s bed time for a little while, and besides, he enjoyed a nightcap before collapsing for the day.

Raynor crossed the town and stepped through the swinging doors of the bar. A few more of the townspeople were partaking in a drink than most nights, but it didn’t seem like a celebration. Under their red eyes bags and dirt clung. Clothes were rustled and stained. There was some chatter, but not much, and a lot of the patrons leaned over their tables and drinks in a slouch.

At the edge of the bar, Jim spotted Ronald with a shot of whisky pinched between his fingers, his hat resting in an empty stool beside him. His salt-and-pepper hair was dishevelled.

“Sheriff,” Jim said, lifting the hat from the stool and sitting down next to Deschain. “Looks like everyone had a hard day. Somethin’ go on that I missed?”

Ronald tilted his head back and drained the shot glass. He slammed it back on the bar. “Bandits. Caught us by surprise. Lot of the townsfolk got caught up in the roughhousing. No one got seriously hurt, but it was darn scary for them.” He paused as he tapped the bar and the barkeeper topped up his shot glass with another serving of brown liquor. “Wasn’t much fun for me and your crew either.”

“Sorry I wasn’t here to help out,” Jim said. “Thought the scoutin’ had been thorough.”

“It was,” the sheriff said, his tired eyes swimming in his shot. “But the bandits are getting more and more desperate. Don’t know if they’re running out of supplies faster these days or just having a harder time getting their grubby criminal mitts on them. In either case, they launched an ambush on us. A few rival gangs together, I would reckon. The numbers were too big to be anything else.”

“That ain’t good,” Jim said. “Last thing we need is those bastards gettin’ an even bigger number advantage on us.”

The next shot of the sheriff’s vanished down his throat. “So how did your trip to that abandoned shithole go?”

Jim unfurled the unsigned contract and splayed it over the bar, taking care to miss the wet patches. “Ain’t abandoned no more. Apparently the place is called Nippur, and there’s all mess’a people swarmin’ all over it. A lotta them think this King Gilgamesh is their saviour or some such.”

“A king?” Ronald said, letting out a chortle. “We got a king out in the deserts now?”

“Seems a well-liked king,” Jim said. “I’m thinkin’ it’d be good to strike up cordial relations with ‘em.”

Jim slid the contract across the bar and to Ronald’s attention. The old sheriff’s chapped lips moved soundlessly as his eyes moved from line to line. “You sure about this, Raynor?”

“After what you just told me, seems to me we could use the extra defence,” Jim said, casting a pitying glance on the townspeople handling their ordeal with alcohol. “Plus if they get as big as I think they’ll get, the supply line’ll keep everyone fed and healthy. No reason to think things’ll go south. Besides, we're strugglin' out here. If someone lends us a helpin' hand, I say we take it. They all gotta survive out here, same as us.”

Ronald glanced at the contract one last time, then looked to Raynor.

  Dream or nightmare ?
Posted by: Marcus Wright - 04-27-2018, 04:08 AM - Forum: The Astral Realm - Replies (1)

The veil of darkness shaded the man’s face while he stared at the ceiling. The old familiar feeling of staring at a white ceiling and then brown dirt as a unnerving sense of deja vu slowly creeped in.

The dripping sound of water coming from rusty pipes made the half man half machine wince in anticipation of what was to happen next.

“Save us… “called a unknown voice of folks…

Marcus blinked, almost reaching for what appeared to be The group he knew the most.

The Avengers.

However they looked odd to him, they were staring at him and every time he tried to talk to them, they attacked him. Eventually the dream Avengers faded away, leaving a creepy red eyed grin and 6 terminators staring back at him.

“Join us”

Marcus screamed “NO!”

Skynet was Alive in his dreams.

CHARACTER NAME:
Kyle Crane
CHARACTER SOURCE:
Dying Light
CHARACTER HISTORY:
Taken from some point in between the ending of the main game and the beginning of the Following DLC.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:

(Height: 6'1"/1.85 meters)

STATS:
ATK: 2
DEF: 2
SPD: 3
TEC: 3

STARTING PROFICIENCIES:
Physical Strength (1000)
Ranged Attack (1000)
STARTING POWERS:
Master Acrobat (400)
STARTING MOVES:

Korek Machete - 300 OM (Requires Physical Strength Proficiency)

A weapon that Crane remembers picking up during his time in Harran -  a machete with a simple black handle and the name "Korek" written on the side of the blade. The blade is 45 cm/roughly 18 inches long. He remembers it being a very strong weapon in his home world, however in the Omniverse it's strength has lowered. It has an average swing speed. It's stronger than one would expect, however with regular use it'll break - it's about as durable as concrete. Crane can repair the blade, however it requires 15 seconds of concentration, during which he can't move or really do anything.

American 9mm Pistol - 300 (Requires Ranged Attack Proficiency)

Another weapon that Crane remembers finding around Harran. It has a low damage output, but can be fired as fast as he can pull the trigger. A single clip of ammo holds 13 rounds, and he can carry up to 8 clips of ammo on him. If he finds the time without interruption, he can summon more ammo, with one clip of ammo taking 5 seconds to summon, and he has to focus entirely on summoning the ammo.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.
Yepper depper.
Where did you find us? Was here a long time ago under various characters (one of my more memorable ones is Mick Rory). Decided to hop back into the fray - after catching up on all the changes, of course.

(NOTE: I do not claim the images. All image credits go to the Dying Light Wiki.)
