Been away awhile? IDK about you, but I've been writing scientific papers all semester, devoid of juicy words or savory plots and working full time. Here I'll post either one or multiple prompts (kinda like strazio's) from Stephen king's book "on writing."
They'll be short btwn 1-3k
More to come next week y'all. Feel free to post here with ideas or just to show me you're interested.
Welcome back to everyone!

Unicron was not amused about the current situation. Sure, Rafael was growing, but he was not growing quickly enough for his tastes. As they came across the world of Camelot once more, Unicron looked at the sky. Noticing the sky of the place had a floating island, Unicron wished he possessed the ability of flight so that he could go up there and gather books for himself. Sure he seemed to possess some sort of flying ability inside of this place but he was not going to rely on an ability that he thought was temporary at best. Not only could it run the risk of harming his host, but there were many other problems that the use of such a power could cause. After what seemed like hours of walking they finally arrived at the place where Unicron had built their home for them, the former ruins of a once wrecked castle that he had repaired. Sure the place needed a lot of work before it could be considered habitable by Unicron, but that was the beauty of the place. Endless potential for development was possessed by it much like the endless potential that was possessed by Rafael himself.
So boy. You believe that everyone has a chance at redemption no matter who they are?
The question was one that Rafael had to pause and consider as they arrived at the place they called home. On the one hand Mech had tortured Bumblebee but they were one of the most technologically advanced groups out there. Had they decided to help the Autobots instead of hindering them, the Autobot - Decepticon War could have been solved before Rafael had ended up here in the Omniverse. Honestly he didn't have a clue as to what the right answer in this situation was.
I don't know, Unicron.

Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX, hated the heat, his trenchcoat and fedora only made the heat even more unbearable. Still the promise of a paying job, as well as other compensation. This Banisher4lyfe fellow seemed to have a common fetish, talking to the man would be fun.
In the distance the golden walls of Nippur stood out against the rising sun making the effect awe inspiring at least to Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX. The architecture was far different than that of Hecate’s castle. His heart leapt as he thought about his silver haired Yandere.
The guards seemed to have some brand new strange cloth uniform. It was something his weeb sword would clearly have little trouble to cut through, still he knew he wouldn't need to worry about that. “Once they see my awesomeness, they won't help but give me the job.” He told himself as he stepped through the gates to Nippur, The town was awash in muck and filth, nothing less than Hecate's dungeon of course but still pretty bad. Without missing a step he headed to the grandest building in the area and walked up the marbled steps to the main gate where Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX was mey by two guards. Golden energy weapons blocked his path. “What is your business here?” Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX was asked.
“I responded to a posting about a job in IT. I am here for the interview.” Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX said as he flipped his fedora up.
The guards in the interesting cloth armor looked the weeb over, with scrutinizing eyes, They had seen enough strange people entering the throne room and they didn't want another weirdo barging in after seeing the likes of Shantotto and Warren Zimmer.
“The king is not in at the moment, What is the nature of your visit?” The guard asked keeping an eye on the boy’s oversized sword lest he pull it out.
Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX looked at the somewhat nervous guards with a smug look of satisfaction and a cocky grin. “I am not here to see your king, rather I am here to speak with the one know by the moniker Bannisher4lyfe…. Or something to that effect.” He said, not wanting to pull out his dataverse device just to double check an alias.
The guards laughed aloud upon hearing that. “ You mean Lord Victor!” One exclaimed aloud, his voice almost cheerful at the thought of seeing this weirdo confronting Victor the Banisher.

A Lot to Process
Define Dexter: sharp, lanky, bespectacled, linear. All complementary angles and golden ratios. A mathematical specimen. That last word—linear—commanded a certain resonance in Dexter’s life. It was perhaps the one that described him best.
In elementary school, Dexter realized life is linear. Every person started their life at one point, ended it at another, and the only thing that caused any deviation from that path was collisions with the paths of other people. Everything could be determined, Dexter supposed; all a person needed was the initial positions and velocities of six billion or so people, and then to—click!—run the simulation. The world could be resolved into one gigantic Fermi problem.
Growing up, Dexter experienced life in numbers the way others did in colors or sounds. When people spoke to him, he busied himself counting the number of words, the number of letters per word, the syllables. He calculated averages and searched for patterns. People often accused Dexter of being distracted—of ignoring them. They did not seem comforted when presented with his findings.
At home, Dexter saw thermodynamics at work. When his parents argued, heat was supplied to the system. Excess energy boiled to the surface, either dissipating gradually or turning into some other form of energy: the kinetic energy of a thrown teapot or ceramic plate, for instance. After a time, entropy settled in and the house returned to an inert state. Heat could not flow spontaneously from a colder location to a hotter one. The energy could not last forever. Dexter took solace in that last fact.
Dexter always knew there was a formula for everything, from shooting free throws in basketball to designing spacecraft capable of orbiting the Earth. For most applications, the calculations were simple enough he could do them on paper. A formula for everything, he supposed, except love. To him, love was an abstract and ephemeral concept. It was formula immune. Sometimes, it ended without warning and no one could explain why. Dexter could not reconcile himself with its transient nature.
Love was not worth Dexter’s time.
Dexter grew up near Lake Chelan, Washington, but remembered little of his childhood. The lune-shaped lake was a vague blue afterimage on his memory. What he did remember was the science fair in his senior year. Dexter managed to model data of a population reacting to a crisis in terms of Fourier’s heat equation. He received top marks.
Early on, Dexter could determine the path his own life would take. He spent hours drawing it out in flowchart form. It did not factor in the potential for love, and so he was confident no collision would be forceful enough to impel him from his chosen course.
Once decided, Dexter’s steps to follow that path were, as always, logical and linear. During the middle of his senior year he applied to the University of Washington; at the end of his senior year he was accepted; and, four months later, he moved to Seattle. Dexter’s first impression of the city was that of a gigantic brain, each building a lobe thrumming with constant activity. The university, he thought, was its frontal lobe.
To Dexter, the campus was foreign at first, the wet weather a stark contrast to the dry autumns of Chelan. He adjusted quickly, though. He soon found that everyone was obsessed with grades and class averages. Dexter considered their obsession in error. He merely gravitated toward the subjects that interested him most, barely passing English, excelling at calculus and physics. Whereas physics in high school always had tangible applications, the physics he learned in college dealt with distances astronomically large and small.
Dexter could sense something underneath it all: a single theory at the root of everything.

Name: Remy Etienne LeBeau / Gambit
Spent OM: 5,200
Stats:
ATK: 3
DEF: 2
SPD: 2
TEC: 4 (+1, Stat Upgrade I)
Proficiencies: (2,600)
Ranged Proficiency (1,000)
Physical Strength (1,000)
Area Attack Proficiency (600)
Powers: (400)
Master Acrobat (400)
Moves (1,200):
Telescoping Bo Staff (Physical Strength) (300)
A normal bo staff crafted from tungsten carbide, rendering it extremely sturdy and resistant to scratches and damage. While hanging from Gambit’s belt, the bo staff measures approximately one foot, but when Gambit uses it in combat it telescopes out to approximately six feet in half a second.
Playing Cards (Ranged Proficiency) (300)
An unassuming pack of throwing cards. Gambit has the ability to throw these cards with deadly accuracy, making them capable of dealing minor slashing damage. The deck contains 52 cards but miraculously, any card he throws reappears in the small leather case on his belt after about five seconds. The cards are thrown at roughly 100MPH, and Gambit has an effective range of about 50 meters. Gambit can throw three cards per second maximum.
Molecular Acceleration (Area Attack Proficiency) (600)
Gambit has the power to convert the potential energy in an object into kinetic energy, thus ‘charging’ that object with explosive results. The time it takes to charge an object or objects depends on size, ranging from about one second for a playing card, to three seconds for his bo staff, to ten seconds at the high end for something the size of a car. At present, this charging must take place through direct skin contact, and Gambit must focus while charging an item, able to move normally but unable to fight or use other moves or powers. At present, Gambit cannot use this ability on organic/sentient targets such as allies or enemies. The charge lasts fifteen seconds. When a charged object strikes or is struck by another solid surface, it explodes with concussive force, dealing fairly weak (playing card) to moderate (bo staff) to high (maximum-sized object) damage scaling up with charge time. This explosion does not damage the charged object. The explosion is approximately two square yards, with most of the damage focused in the center, at the point of the blast.
*Note: Gambit does not have to throw the object to activate the explosion; any significant impact will trigger a charged object.
**Note: The charge time is always proportional to the item's size, i.e., Gambit cannot choose to charge a playing card for a longer period to achieve a larger explosion (yet).

FIGHT ME, NERDS!
I'm challenging you two to a mock fight. I'll even let you two work together.
Rules:
800-word limit
3 day posting maximum per person in a round (except for certain cases which more time is required when irl is involved)
Warren and 13 (with a character of there choice) can work together or not and I'm willing to have others join (though at most one or two)
Setting: to be decided
Any questions? Also we need a judge to judge this and a setting for this. (i haven't decided if i'm doing one or both characters)

This year’s event is a tag-team double-elimination tournament. This thread is intended to be a general overview of ‘broad’ logistical things, with other thread going into more granular detail as needed.
Initial creation of teams will be done through a lottery at the conclusion of registration. In the event of an odd number of entrants, the last person will have to write with an NPC (this will not impact their scoring).
Bracket: Check the thread
Character Limitations: During fights, there are no limits to Moves, Powers, and Proficiencies. In the pre-show facility, The impact of Moves and Powers are limited and summoning using Omnilium is totally inhibited.
Fight Rules: Fights will be fought under mostly standard Omniverse fight rules, with the following setups:
Quote:Word Limit: 850
Posts: 2
Time Limit: 48 hours
Random Elements: On
Damage Meter: Off
Between rounds, damage points will be healed and SP will be restored. Any Items used during a fight will be consumed as they would in any ‘normal’ fight.
Scoring: Matchups will be scored on writing quality, assessed through a provided rubric (link).
“Three Strikes”: Every entrant in the tournament receives ‘three strikes.’ At any time, they may request an additional day to complete a post. This counts as using ‘one strike.’ After using all their strikes, missing a post will result in a scoring penalty (-25%). Strikes are per individual and may not be donated or exchanged.
The team with the higher combined score will move onto the next round. The team with the lesser score will move down to the loser’s bracket. Losing while in the consolation bracket will eliminate a team from competition entirely.
Winning and Losing: Matches end when one team can no longer continue to fight. In the Loser bracket, the team that wins may opt to kill or spare their adversaries as they so desire. Banishment Circles do not work in the Dante Verse. Participants who are eliminated but not killed may watch the remainder of the show from the Preshow Facility or take a teleporter back to a verse of their choice.
Grand Finals: The grand finals will be a sudden death bout between the team from the Winner bracket and the team from the Consolation bracket.
For this fight, the team from the Winner Bracket will select the style of the arena and the will receive an additional post at the end of the fight.
Example post order for a sample Grand Finals match: Gilgamesh and Sasuke (Winner Bracket) vs Deadpool and Retane (Consolation Bracket)
Sasuke 1 - Deadpool 1 - Gilgamesh 1 - Retane 1 - Sasuke 2 - Deadpool 2 - Gilgamesh 2 - Retane 2 - Sasuke or Gilgamesh 3
Grand finals end in KO (no death).
Grand Champion: At the end of X rounds, the last remaining team in each bracket will face one another to determine the champion team and the runner-up team. The two primes in the champion team will then have to fight one another to determine the Grand Champion and the Runner-Up. The two primes from the runner-up team will fight one another to determine 3rd place.
Winners of these fights may kill or spare their opponent.
Prizes: For those primes who finish in the top three, there will be a pool of Artefacts to pick. The Grand Champion will have first pick, and the Runner-Up will have second selection. The remaining Artefact will go to the third place prime. All contestants will receive bonus OM for Participation. For those primes who go further in the tournament, there will be a sliding scale for Exceptional Writing OM.
