Alt. Character Test ( Just an Idea.)
Posted by: Gwendolyn - 02-13-2016, 02:54 PM - Forum: The Creative Corner - Replies (1)

Character name: Malthael, The Angel of Death

Character source: Diablo III: Reaper of Souls

Character history:

"Much uncertainty surrounds the archangel Malthael. Once the calm guiding hand of wisdom, he was lost to us the moment the Worldstone disappeared. Unable to fathom that catastrophic event, he abandoned Heaven. His departure created a colossal fracture within the council, one that, to this day, remains unrepaired."
— Selathiel, writing on Malthael

The Archangel was lost. He searched and searched, consulting everything he knew and his gaze spanning the breadth of creation. Yet the Worldstone remained unknown to him. Stolen By Inarius and the demon, Lilith, the worldstone seemed to have taken away his sanity. His mind seemed to only focus on one thing, the Worldstone. Once a revered and highly respected member of the Angiris Council, his presence now chilled everyone he came into contact with, his very presence bringing thoughts of death to the forefront of the mind.

And after the destruction of the worldstone by Tyrael, the Aspect of wisdom disappeared completely. Rumors floated around, but no definitive answers were known to the angels of the High Heavens. The now titled, Angel of Death, lurked in the abandoned halls of the Fortress of Pandemonia, where he imprisoned and used the power of human souls to fuel his power. He continued for many moons to act out his plans in secret, and his following grew larger every day. Many angels pledged themselves to Malthael's service, seeing the corruption of humanity and the need to eradicate it.

Malthael saw his chance for victory in the Black Soulstone, a construct forged by the mage Zoltun Kulle, to hold the souls of demons, preventing them from finding another form to wreak havoc with. And more importantly, allowing the individual that possessed the stone tap into the power of the demons that lay within. After the defeat and capture of the Prime Evil, Diablo, Tyrael and the newly-formed Horadrim stole the Soulstone away from the High Heavens, seeking to hide the power and corruption of Diablo, away from those who would use its power for evil.

Seeing his chance, Malthael slew the Horadrim members, but seeing Tyrael had no demonic taint in him, spared the Aspect of Wisdom's life. Taking the soul stone for himself, he planned to use the stone to eradicate the world of the evil demonic taint. The humans.

His plan was almost finished, but the nephalem was here, here to kill him. Malthael was confident in his own abilities, but his was a foe to be wary of. It had single-handedly defeated the accumulation of the Lords of the Burning Hells. A feat never accomplished, not by any of the many beings existence. He was in for the fight of his life, but the former archangel wasn't worried in the slightest. After all, death is unending.

The battle was fierce, and Malthael was forced to desperate measures. He summoned the Black Soulstone to him, and devoured the power that lay within. But the nephalem prevailed. He was powerless to stop the madness that unfolded afterwards. His body was drawn tight as all the souls he had devoured erupted from his form, his body slowly deteriorating into nothing as his power was drained. His plans had failed. He had failed.

And then all was gone.

Twin Sickles of Death (Cost 300)
His primary weapon, these sickle-like shotels are different than the traditional representation of death. Intricately carved with embellishments and designs, these are not just for show. Wickedly sharp and very useful for quick attacks, they are only useful if the opponent is within arms reach (about four or five feet away from Malthael.).

Hammer and Nail in the coffin
Posted by: Thor - 02-13-2016, 08:51 AM - Forum: The Astral Realm - Replies (2)

The glistening monument of Asgard rose up in front of Thor. It was good to be home. Thor had only ever cared about two things; protecting his friends and swinging his hammer. He walked toward the shining castle of his father. Mist rolled in around the Thunder God. Where was he? Looking at the shifting emptiness around him Thor cringed. He had been banished to Hel. Apparently he could not ascend to Valhalla for fighting a storm. He had to admit though, that was pretty pathetic. The god of thunder lost his life to a thunder storm. Thor looked around and saw something off in the distance of the swirling nothingness. He went toward it. As he got closer he began to hear a banging noise and he could see a figure bent over something hitting nails into it with a hammer that looked very similar to his. He looked at his hands. What had happened to his hammer? Then he was holding Mjolnir. The figure looked up at Thor as he drew close enough to see what was going on more clearly. It was Loki sitting on a stool. The object he had been hammering nails into was a coffin, and at the head of the coffin instead of a cross was a carving of a hammer. Loki looked down at the hammer.
"You never did want to share this thing." Loki said.
"It's mine, brother." Thor said.
"How am I going to finish nailing your coffin shut?" Loki said
"My coffin?" Thor said. The mist around them cleared to reveal a graveyard.
"Your dead, brother."  Loki looked up at him.
"You are dumb sometimes, my brother." Thor smiled. "We do not bury our dead. We burn them," the coffin caught fire, "at sea." A beach appeared conveniently close enough that the coffin was already half in the water. Thor kicked it out into the open water and watched it float away until the flames caused it to fall beneath the waves.
Thor looked at his brother. "Are you dead?"
Loki smiled at his brother. "You watched me die."
Thor looked back at the water and watched the setting sun descend upon its shimmering surface.

  A light in the darkness
Posted by: Grimm - 02-13-2016, 07:46 AM - Forum: The Pale Moors - Replies (2)

The Path in front of Grimm stretched on, it would still be a half hour before he reached the gates of Darkshire. All around him dark fields rolled away into infinity broken only by stagnant pools of once running water choked by overflow from the wetlands. Throughout his brief excursion with IP he had never taken the time to properly look at his surroundings but now that he did Grimm could see that this was a world sliding into decay. Still and unmoving and seemingly unaffected by the winds the dark clouds that blotted out the sun didn't pass, even after a quarter hour they remained the same. The gates of Darkshire were close now and as Grimm drew near he could make out a lone figure standing guard by the city gates. It was then that a rather worrying prospect dawned on him, if the stories he had heard were true and this world was plagued by creatures of the night then it wouldn't be surprising if he were mistaken for one. After all the people of his own world would often enter bouts of hysteria when his skeletal face was revealed and they weren't constantly living in the fear of his likeness tearing through their town and murdering the local populace. With the intention of avoiding the rather undesirable event of the locals forming a lynch mob and chasing him back to the deathly white of the nexus Grimm resolved to open a nice and civilised discourse with the guard to make clear that he was of more class then the undead they were used to dealing with.

"Excuse me sir," Grimm called out, still a good fifty or so meters from the guard, "This wouldn't happen to be the town of Darkshire would it?". Grimm had tried his best to sound friendly but the echo caused as the air left his skull had the unwanted effect of making everything he said sound just a tiny bit ominous.

Wearily the guard turned so that he properly faced Grimm "It is but don't expect a warm welcome. We're still recovering from the last attack and no one has the time to play tour guide.". Now that he was closer Grimm could see that the guard had an aged complexion that was broken by the tell tale signs of exhaustion. Grimm had expected Darkshire to be town under siege but if the people within its walls were recovering then some of the carnage would had to have breached the walls. This would not be ideal, people pulling themselves back together rarely took kindly to skeletal strangers trying to pry into the local history. All in all this wasn't what Grimm had wanted to find. If he was going to get anything out of the people here then he was going to need to build some goodwill and in a community as isolated as this one that would probably be no small task. For now he would start with the obvious path.

"There's been a raid," Grimm did his best to emulate concern, "maybe I could be of assistance in the reparation effort."

"We have enough townsfolk to rebuild ourselves." The guard snapped almost cutting Grimm off, "If you want to try to be of use then report to Dobson in the armoury and get to ensuring it doesn't happen again." The guard was about as friendly as Grimm had expected, given both the situation and his own disposition, making it clear to him that his battle to win the, hearts, minds and information of Darkshire's people would not start with this man. Calmly Grimm thanked the man for his help, did his best to disengage from the interaction in the least offensive way possible and made his way inside thankful that his lack of a face ensured his scowl was only internal. He had hopped he would be able to build up relations through some simple rebuilding but if joining the local defensive force is what it would take then that is what he would do.

Ultimate Face Punch (Tier 1 Super Move)

This punch to the face is, scientifically, at the epitome of what a face punch can achieve. Why, you might ask? Well, even if it does no damage, it can cross into any Verse that the user's target might be in. I repeat, it deals no damage, but has unlimited reach. The user needs only think of his or her target and that target will be subjected to a sudden face to the face. The annoyance level of this Move is over 9000.

His metal boots made a clink clack noise as Nihilus marched though the white and defining plain of the Nexus, his elder apprentice, Kylo Ren, followed him with a steady pace. As he traversed the blank white land scape, his skull began to thro and pound with pain. And then it happened. Nihilus started to have visions of his past, hitting his mind hard each time, with flashing images in his head. Each image had key parts in his life, some were of a family and the only image would flash to skeletons and fire then some of the images were of men in armor fighting solders and then in the image a flash would happen and then darkness. The last image was of a planet of steel a metropolis of a buzzing city and then a there was gate. Nihilus dropped to the ground in pain, he gasped for air and looked at Ren unsure what to do. Nihilus then looked towards to his left, his intuition guiding his eyes. A large gate was there, forged of smooth metal, leading to a vast city of the future. And it called to him. Nihilus forced him self up and stumbled for the gate and dove into it.

You see a flash of white when you die, your weakened body at the temple is greeted by the Spirit. His floating visage seems disappointed. He sighs a bit before looking at the Statue one more time.

"I appreciate the effort Hero, but I guess you weren't the one destined to save me. Farewell and I hope your future journeys bode well. Here is a reward for your efforts." The Spirit holds out an orb of Omnilium and places it into your chest."

You fall again, but the journey is instead white. You hear a soft, cackly voice enter your head. "Before you go, this is mine!" You feel a prick of your finger and see a purple figure take the blood before falling immediately into the Nexus.

I took this neat quiz and I'm curious about what other people might get. Pretty sure you only ever get three category scores with very few questions asked, so I wouldn't take it too seriously.

My results are:

36% Intellectual
36% Visionary
28% Caregiver
