Switching Characters>> Luger to Marcus Wright
Posted by: Marcus Wright - 05-12-2016, 10:59 AM - Forum: Joining - Replies (9)

I'm sorry guys, I just don't have the motivation to write as Luger....

Character name:
Marcus Wright

Character source: Terminator: Salvation

Character History:

Marcus Wright was a human on Death Row in 2003 for multiple homicide, and was executed shortly after signing his body over to Dr. Serena Kogan of Cyberdyne Systems Genetic Research Division. He was then entered into Project Angel and converted into a hybrid human, which was later activated in the war-torn future.[2]

Marcus led a disreputable life of petty crime alongside his brother, whom was accidentally killed during a botched car-jacking which also saw the deaths of two cops. Marcus was arrested, convicted, and sentenced to death at the Longview State Correctional Facility. During his time on Death Row, Marcus was visited repeatedly by Dr. Serena Kogan, a cancer-stricken scientist who wished for him to sign over his body to her research project. He refused her request up until the day of his execution, upon which he agreed to sign it over in exchange for a final kiss.

Marcus was then strapped onto a cross-like table and shown to his weeping friends and relatives before being executed by lethal injection. It is ambiguous as to whether the injection actually killed him or simply placed him in a coma for Serena's project, however. Marcus' body was taken apart and converted into a unique cyborg, one that still retained his human brain and heart. He was then stored in an underground facility where he would remain in stasis for 15 years as Judgment Day occurred in the world above. Skynet would later discover his body and add further enhancements to his design, completing the seemingly abandoned work of Cyberdyne Research.

Terminator Salvation

Marcus arrives in Los Angeles.

Marcus awakens/is activated in the remains of the Skynet VLA and staggers out into the rain-soaked terrain, disoriently screaming in horror at the world around him. After composing himself, Marcus takes the clothes of a deceased Resistance fighter and starts a long walk through the desert, finding a sand-caked road leading into Los Angeles. Upon arriving, Marcus observed the ruined city from atop the Hollywood banner and then descended into the streets where he encountered a Series 600 Terminator patrolling the city.

Marcus being questioned by Kyle Reese.
Ignorantly, he called out to it, only to immediately come under fire from the machine's mini-gun. Before he could be mowed down, however, Marcus was tackled to the ground by a young man called Kyle Reese; who told him: "Come with me if you want to live." Following Kyle's lead, Marcus bolted for the nearby building while the T-600 struggled to free itself from a trap the youth had set. It escaped by shooting off its foot, however, and promptly took chase. Up on the roof, Kyle's young companion, a mute girl named Star, released another trap, crushing the T-600 beneath heavy machinery.

Kyle then held Marcus at gunpoint, accusing him of stealing the uniform of a Resistance fighter, but the cyborg easily disarmed him and demanded to know the date and what happened to the world. Kyle answered his questions, and Marcus expressed an interest in reaching a Skynet-controlled location. Before they could decide on this, an HK-Aerial flew in overhead, toppling a building as it passed. Knowing their safety had been compromised, Kyle led Marcus and Star back to their hiding place. Here, Marcus demonstrated how to tether the shotgun to his arm to avoid losing it to an opponent.[3] He then fixed their radio, picking up a message from John Connor in the process.

In the morning, they traveled to Griffith Observatory to find transport away from Los Angeles. While repairing an old Jeep, Marcus accidentally cut himself on a wire and was given a band-aid from Star. He then got it working and inadvertently activated the radio, which started playing "Rooster" by Alice in Chains, much to Kyle and Star's surprise. Though because it was a song his late brother used to listen to, Marcus switched it off and barked at Star to get out of the passenger seat. They were then attacked by an Aerostats and Kyle attempted to lose it by driving down the hill haphazardly. Marcus eventually destroyed it with a tire-iron, however. Unimpressed by Kyle's driving skills, Marcus promptly kicked him out from behind the wheel.

Stopping at an old gas station bearing the mark of the Resistance, the trio are confronted by a gang of survivors who view them as a threat. Their de-facto leader, Virginia, offers them food and water, however, much to the annoyance of another refugee named Len. Star then senses vibrations in the ground mere seconds before a Harvester smashes through the roof and snatches Virginia and several other refugees. The trio flee outside and try to get aboard some of the escaping vehicles, but they speed away and leave them behind. Kyle quickly realizes that attempting to escape will only result in their death as the Harvester destroys the fleeing vehicles with its plasma cannon.

Marcus takes a moment to observe the machine before getting into an armored truck and using it to push a gasoline tanker into the legs of the Harvester, which succeeds in toppling it. As they drive away, Kyle tries to shoot the gas with his shotgun, but is unsuccessful in sparking it. Star solves this problem by giving Marcus a flare which he then lights and tosses onto the gasoline, lighting it and causing a big explosion around the Harvester. It is not destroyed, however, and releases two Moto-Terminators that give chase. Kyle is able to shoot out the first, and is saved from being splattered on a school bus by Marcus in the process. The second is disabled when Marcus instructs Kyle to lower the ball-hook, which catches the machine and drags it behind them.

The chase leads them to a bridge where they are cut off by an HK-Aerial, which fires at the bridge, forcing Marcus to screech to a halt. As a result, the Moto-Terminator swings up and around the HK, disabling one of its engines in the process. As the HK struggles to remain airborne, the truck is spun around until it almost topples off the edge. Kyle and Star subsequently fall out of the vehicle and are caught by the Harvester standing upon the HK-Carrier below. The HK-Aerial breaks free and fires upon the truck, forcing Marcus to jump onto the Carrier with an axe, which he then uses to try to free Kyle and Star from the cattle pens. The Harvester grabs him, however, and slams Marcus into the Carrier's hull.

Marcus finds Blair Williams.
Before it can destroy him, the Transport is attacked by two Resistance A-10 Warthogs, one of which was piloted by Blair Williams. During their missile attack, Marcus is dropped by the Harvester and falls into the river below. The two aircraft are then shot down by the HK-Aerial and the Carrier escapes. Marcus comes to at the riverbank and makes his way back into the desert where he encounters Blair hanging from a telephone tower, having ejected from her bird before its destruction. He helps her down, and in return, she offers to take him to John Connor, as he might help Marcus rescue his friends from Skynet Central.

Marcus, after rescuing Blair Williams.
They stop at a derelict racetrack overnight where Blair removes her top in the rain to tend to an injury on her collar, catching Marcus' attention with her semi-nakedness. While Marcus is away gathering kindling, Blair is attacked by a gang of humans who want her supplies. Marcus arrives in time and viciously beats them into submission, stabbing one in the shoulder with a screwdriver in the process. Afterward, Blair curls up to him to share his body heat next to the fire, and notices how strong his heart is before falling asleep in his arms. Marcus wonders if he's a good man and whether or not he deserves a second chance in life.

In the morning, they arrive at the Resistance base and travel through a minefield laced with magnetized landmines. As they pass through, a mine attaches itself to Marcus and explodes, injuring him. He is then carried to the infirmary where Kate Connor tends to his wounds, despite his declarations of being fine. Upon opening his shirt, she discovers the endoskeleton exposed beneath and calls for Barnes, who swiftly knocks Marcus unconscious with the butt of his rifle. He is then chained up and suspended in a missile silo where he is examined by John Connor. Marcus Wright arrives in the Omniverse after escaping the missile silo with Blair Williams

As Chara entered the nexus, she felt a strange feeling that there was nowhere she could go to and hide from her crimes. Then as she neared the fountain she started crying on her horse, then she heard rumbling comeing towards her she looked up and saw four or five people in white armor riding bikes of some sort. She gets mad at them for yelling "kid get off the horse and come with us" *God why don't people just leave me alone, I just want to be alone!* as she got off her horse they slowed to a halt and walked up to her and they were a little confused about why she was here. "Sir I think this little girl is a prime, take her for questioning?, sir I don't think she is not safe.", She felt her hand go to her knife and she slowly unsheathed it and said *You are all in my way*. They all turn to her and pull there guns out and point them at her and said *put your weapon away and let us take you to Coruscant, because you will be safe there."

As she looked around she saw that she could take maybe one out but not everyone here so she decided to follow them and see what they have to offer and she said *Take me to this verse of yours*. "just follow us kid and we can help you on the right path.

After rideing for a bit to the portal to Coruscant they make it to the portal when they said "go in the portal and we can register you in our databanks, Ok?" she agreed as she felt if she declined things would not go her way and it was better that she listened to them for know at least.

  A City's Sirens Call
Posted by: Carmelita - 05-12-2016, 06:07 AM - Forum: Coruscant - Replies (2)

“Mierda!”

Carmelita swore in shock as she stepped through the portal. She’d been expecting more machines, plenty of scanners, several additional guards. What she hadn’t expected was the legion of security cameras that lined the open area, a fully armed patrol on the parade ground nearby and a dozen dog-like droids which she would hazard all had scent-sensors. The difference in the level of security was as stark as it was alarming, and swearing out loud hadn’t made it any easier to avoid detection.

Almost instantly the dog-bots perked their heads up as one. The big, clearly read sign that spelled out ‘Welcome To Coruscant’ began flashing with the red of an intruder alert, a siren slowly building in volume nearby. The platoon scattered frantically into firing positions, shoving civilians to the ground as they moved with purpose.

Carmelita took the quick and dirty route out of the situation: she ran. She couldn’t retreat the way she came since the portal was now blocked by several white-armoured guards, so she took a different direction, sprinting past the pack of cyber-dogs as quietly as she could. As she ran across the squeaky clean road, the dogs began sniffing around behind her. Barricades were being quickly assembled on the street exits to the plaza, and the situation was looking increasingly grim. Fortunately the troopers were still holding their fire, waiting for something to indicate where their target was, but unless she could lose the robotic hounds they’d soon draw a bead on her position.

The vixen who’d been as much on the run as she had been the tracker had no intention of giving them that chance. If the dog-droids had detected her scent even slightly, chances are there would be something capable of detecting Bentley’s gizmo, which in turn meant she had a limited window in which to escape the net that had been cast by the security forces. Looking around, there were no gutters, unfortunately, which meant no easy to climb drainpipes that Sly had taught her to scale, but there was a truck parked nearby whose tailgate and cab provided the perfect opportunity to jump onto that balcony nearby. She grinned at her good fortune.

Taking precious seconds to avoid causing the truck’s suspension to sway, Carmelita leapt from the truck roof and scrambled over the lip of the balcony, sighing in relief as she saw no immediate threats. The hounds below found themselves wandering around, unable to locate the source of the intruder’s scent, and with the confused beeps of the dog-droids and the general hubbub of the portal security behind her, she crept away to find a blind spot in the network of security cameras.

  Vixen: Needs Fixing

Inspector Fox. Another Damned Cooper. Carmelita Sandiego. Callsign Foxtrot.

There were a lot of her names she could have stolen from the world, but she’d gone for broke and taken the lot. Every trace she’d ever existed she’d erased, besides people’s memories and hidden data caches she hadn’t bothered to hunt down.

Now, as if she’d turned the last page to find a whole new book, she found a new existence to live through.

---

Falling, or whatever the appropriate verb was, from the meeting with the Omni character that had given her her brief briefing, Carmelita tucked into a tight forward roll as she came into existence, bouncing over the ground and flattening herself against the smooth stone of an elegant fountain. It was the work of a moment to check that she’d not been immediately spotted by those nearby, perhaps thanks to her many pouched belt which, aside from containing her usual array of handcuffs and emergency supplies, had a rather fetching aborigine pattern stitched in the purple favoured by the Guru.

The fox frowned. She had no knowledge of how things worked around here, and if there was one thing that working first for Interpol and then with the Cooper Gang had taught her, it was that poor intel led to poor choices and worse results. It would be better if she stayed out of the spotlight until she’d gathered more information on the situation.
On that note, Carmelita pressed a digit to the side of her collar. The stealth field Bentley had given her as a gift during her and Sly’s wedding shimmered into existence, the air around her taking on a slightly grainy view as she slipped from outside view.

Caution was her watchword now, she thought to herself. Find out if this new world had law-enforcement… and if it was the type of justice she should work with, or against. Then... well, then it would be time to start working on the Fox-Cooper legacy. She owed it to Sly to try, at least.

---

After taking a few minutes to sit unseen and watch a menagerie of people come to and fro, Carmelita’s ears twitched towards the sound of gunfire. Peering into the distance, she saw what looked like white-clad goons with black rifles gesturing threateningly at another figure. It was one of several places which seemed to naturally accrue traffic, some sort of light or archway at each location. She looked at these other gates before deciding to make her way towards the disturbance: finding out what had provoked the conflict would be her first step in figuring out this puzzle.

It was quickly obvious that she was in for a fair trek, and before getting even halfway there she could see whatever had happened was long since over, but she kept going regardless: if she was going to begin finding out what this place was like, then that gate would be the idea point to observe first. The ground rolled by as she travelled, the smooth, undulating white that she walked across unyielding against her footsteps. If she’d been forced to take a guess, she’d have guessed it a plastic of some kind, but she was happy to leave it at something weird she’d never encountered before. Her boots didn’t sink into it, and that was what mattered.

After her first hour of walking, Carmelita took a breather. Finding a suitable gully to hide from observers, she took the opportunity to deactivate the cloaking device in her collar, staring up at the blank white sky. She took out her shock pistol, sighting along the barrel with a smooth, practiced motion that had little to do with instinct and a lot to do with comfort. Keep moving, keep focused, don’t think of what she’d lost.

She took aim at a distant silhouette, then shifted to what looked like an abandoned motorbike. Next target was the fountain… There was a pause as her she tried to comprehend what had happened.

The fountain had changed from smooth, Spanish art to what looked like some modern impressionist rubbish Dimitri might have insisted was the next upcoming trend. Carmelita blinked and checked again, dumbfounded at what was undoubtedly the most surprising thing she’d seen today. Sure, mystical white figure and all, but exposure to the weird and wonderful array of mystic props and arcane techniques used by the more unusual criminals she’d had the displeasure of meeting had long since inured her to the idea of magic or other forces beyond her current comprehension. This was just a question of the sheer magnitude of it all. She pinched her muzzle for a moment, fighting the oncoming headache. Perhaps she had better keep going, and file this away for freaking out about later.

She turned and re-engaged her collar’s cloak, continuing on her trek with a slightly more urgent feeling in her gut. Add physics to the things she needed intel on.

---

After another hour’s walk, she finally came close enough to examine what exactly was going on with the terrain in this region of the blank realm. A solid steel arch, not as big as the Champs Elysee but definitely bigger than the average door, stood proudly in the middle of the white expanse. In front of it stood several intricate looking machines, slowly scanning the small queue of people entering and leaving from the portal that lay inside. A large contingent of white-armoured soldiers stood guard, possibly gorillas or some other ape-based mammal by Carmelita’s reckoning. The queue of people entering had a bit of an eclectic look about them, as though they’d come from all sorts of locations. There was a remote vehicular robot, some lizardine being with four arms, two sailors and what looked like a gunslinger not dissimilar to those she’d seen in her trip to the Historical Wild West.

It looked like a security checkpoint to her practiced eye, and while it didn’t look like there was a need for identity cards, there was no guarantee she’d be welcome. She frowned, and thought back to what the ‘Omni’ character had said. A moment of contemplation, overcoming the implications of knowledge inserted into her head for her sanity’s sake, and she began picturing carefully the exacting details of Interpol standard binoculars. She couldn’t bring herself to try some binocucoms, not so soon.

It was a strange feeling. This ‘Omnilium’ felt cool and slightly rubbery and yet warm and solid at the same time. If she focused one way or another, she could influence how it felt, and mould into the exact things she was thinking about. Yet another thing to marvel about - after she’d grasped the ins and outs of her situation, of course.

The binoculars obtained, she rotated the lenses and zoomed in on the machinery. Flashing lights, plenty of gadgets and gizmos, screens displaying readouts in both script she could read and script she’d need a math degree to contemplate guessing at… nothing worth writing home about in terms of intel gathering without Bentley and a wireless connection to hand.

A soldier with a high-tech pair of binoculars, or at least an equivalent, began scanning the surroundings. Carmelita froze in place as their line of sight swept over her ridge without pausing, the cloaking field and see-me-not enchantment being put to their first test. For a moment she thought she’d been spotted, but either her mind was playing tricks or the guard was well trained.

She had to take a chance, she decided. If the binoculars hadn’t spotted her, then perhaps she could sneak past the scanners as well…

---

After dissolving the Interpol equipment she’d summoned, it was time to proceed with the plan. Her shock pistol sat loose in its arm holster, and she fiddled once more with her blue hair, taming its wild locks into her jacket before reengaging the cloak.

Cautiously, she picked herself up from the floor and began making her slow way towards the portal. She had to avoid making footprints, avoid direct looks from the soldiers, avoid losing her calm and sprinting for the gate… she paused in her approach and knelt behind a machine as a soldier made his way past. She was close enough now to hear the people talking to one another, and she held her breath, pleasantly surprised to find the conversation comprehendable.

“- can’t believe the impunity of some of the Primes these days, we let them get away with way too much in my opinion.”

“Oh shut it RE-566. You haven’t changed your tune since you came back to work a month ago.”

“Well excuse me for getting jumpy on Nexus duty! You know how many Secondaries like you and me get killed in the crossfire of some stupid attack every day?”

“No, I don’t and-”

The guards cut their conversation short, one of them slammed a hand down on a large red button in the control panel nearby. A flashing red light accompanied the staccato beeping of an alarm as the surrounding troops were suddenly on the alert, looking warily around or raising their weapons to cover the civilians near the portal.

Carmelita gulped. Had they spotted her? Was she going to be shot before she even knew one thing about this place? Her questions were swiftly answered.

“That’s rebellion contraband! Get down on the ground you Rebel scum, hands behind your back. Don’t even think about going for that pistol of yours, cowboy.”

Carmelita moved quickly to lean against the side of the archway, peering to watch as the two soldiers who had been conversing bore down on the daredevil character, weapons raised. The gunslinger was obviously panicking, trying to decide whether or not to run. The man’s face cycled through emotions before settling on resigned despondance.

The white-armoured troops quickly relieved the man of his satchel, as well as his weapon. As the alarm was silenced, Carmelita overheard the whispers of the civilians who had been quick to remove themselves from the rebel’s vicinity in fear of being shot.

“You reckon he’s going to be executed?”

“Beep-beep-boop-braap.”

“But from the looks of things it was just pamphlets, that can’t be too bad, can it?”

“Look, the Empire have been cracking down on rebel activity a lot recently, and I don’t want to get caught in the crossfire. Keep it down would you!”

Carmelita had heard enough. She slipped around the arch and disappeared into the portal, a frown on her face. Time to move on, she thought to herself, as her form diffused into the gentle light.

  Atikos Yaga

Character name: Atikos Yaga

Character source: Original

Character history: Atikos is reluctant to mention her childhood. She lived in a stony underground area, sheltered off from the rest of the world due to her supposed "defects." Her parents, two other people similar to her in terms of their half-ram condition. These creatures, known as "semis," live in secrecy on Earth, only in certain secluded islands in the world. They are generally very aggressive or aloof, and Atikos is not an exception -- she is extremely detached from other people, both semi and human. She was taken to the Omniverse around november of 1957, making her a rather old soul at heart.

Physical Description: Atikos's most striking feature are her ram-like horns, grey, which poke out of her long brown hair. The other thing one would notice is that she has hooves rather than feet (and wears no shoes). Other than these features, she looks mostly human, albeit a gloomy, bored human. Her eyes are amber and she stands at about 5'7'', weighing 105 pounds. Has an olive complexion. Mostly wears brown clothing, and sighs frequently. Hooves make a clacking sound, making it hard to sneak up on anyone.

A rather simple wooden bow with some odd, runic words carved on the bow that even she doesn't know. Takes her about ten seconds to put in another arrow after a shot. She is rather good and precise with it, as she has trained a great amount of her life. It has a decent range of about 30 yards, and she can hit moving targets rather well. She keeps around ten bows in a quiver at a time, and

Seeing Double: Madotsuki and Chara vs Sans and Yukki
Posted by: Madotsuki - 05-11-2016, 04:50 PM - Forum: The Whateververse, Man - Replies (10)

Most people wouldn’t think much of two girls exploring the Ashen Steppes; they’d probably assume them to be lost, or maybe just exploring. If you’d met them in person, however, you most likely wouldn’t live to make any assumptions—especially if you had an item of interest.

The particular to items of interest at the moment were Star Pieces. The red one, to be exact, which just so happened to be within the very same realm the duo called a home. Tucked away behind a distant mountain was a craggy house made out of magma that had long since cooled. This was little more than camouflage, however, since the inside turned out to be oddly normal. A shag carpet covered a wooden floor, alongside a plush couch, a wooden coffee table, and various throw pillows. A set of stairs led up to the bedroom, and a few other doors led to the bathroom and kitchen. A flat screen TV occupied the majority of one wall, and a Wii U console rested underneath. The Base’s vault was hidden in darkness behind said console.

Madotsuki knelt down and gently handled the artifact in awe, admiring the faint, colored pulses that emanated from inside the almost-star shaped object. One of the points was broken off, and she and Chara were going to fix it. Gingerly, she lowered the magic rock back into the vault and locked it up tight. She turned to face Chara from across the coffee table, who was digging through her bag on the couch. The dreamer’s bag rested on the table, and she took the chance to review her inventory: her knife, which had helped her through thick and thin (despite using it so often, the knife gleamed as if it were brand new. Chara had explained that leaving bloodstains on the knife was bad for its condition, so Madotsuki had taken to shining it after each fight); her diary, which also served as a weapon if she focused on it; about a week’s worth of traveling supplies and cookies (what? She had a sweet tooth); and some tiki mask she lifted of a Prime they recently destroyed, although she had yet to figure out how it worked.

Closing the bag, she slung it over her shoulder and glanced down at Chara. It was a lot easier to look down at the megalomaniac when she was sitting down, since despite the six-year age difference, Madotsuki only stood about half-a-head taller otherwise. She pointed at Chara, then at the door, asking if she was ready. The determination-incarnate looked up and nodded with that too-wide-for-her-face grin that was always plastered on her face. “I’m always ready, Mado,” she said, hoisting her own bag up.

The dreamer had to raise an eyebrow at that statement, especially due to that one incident at the Frozen Fields when they found the Blue Star Piece and forgot to bring a container to keep the cold in. Thankfully, it stopped radiating cold the moment they entered the Nexus, but they had to handle it the entire way back. She had wanted to bring the moment up, but considering Chara’s volatile disposition, she chose not to speak up.

Instead, she walked over to the door and gestured for Chara to follow. Madotsuki reached out to open the door, but paused suddenly. There were footsteps outside. The nightterror backed up and withdrew her knife, staring down the door as if a picture of her worst enemy was pasted to it. Every muscle in her body tensed as she waited for something to happen.

This was unreal.

“I swear to God, Mr. Stormtrooper sir, I’m just a normal kid,” Peter protested, holding his hands up in the air. “Literally, I left physics for, like, two seconds because I had to pee and then all of a sudden I was standing in front of this fountain. I have no clue what’s going on.”

Peter silently sent up a prayer of thanks that he’d been teleported in his normal, average Joe high schooler clothes, and not with black spandex clinging to his arms and legs and a mysterious red mask and weird goggles on his head. He didn’t know how much he believed in God, but at this point, he figured if the guy was real, he must be looking out for him. What a bro.

Of course, that part about not knowing what the hell was going on was the total truth. Sure, maybe he’d left a few details out—the weird glowing white guy spewing a creepy, foreboding monologue at him didn’t seem like an essential section of the story—but for the most part, ‘stuck in a weird place with nothing except a tacky fountain and a light headache’ was a pretty accurate description of his circumstances. Well… a tacky fountain, a light headache, and a guy dressed like one of the soldiers from Star Wars. Pointing a scarily accurate replica of the blaster rifle props at him.

“Look, buddy, is this some kind of con?” Peter sat down on the edge of the fountain, prompting the Stormtrooper to take a couple of steps forward. Instinctively, the kid’s hands flew into the air. “Whoa, man, maybe we don’t get so close with that thing.”

The Stormtrooper paused. “So… you’re not a prime?”

Peter’s brow wrinkled. “I already told you, I don’t have any clue what a ‘prime’ even is, mister,” he reiterated. “I’ve just gotta pee, promise.”

Gradually, the Stormtrooper began to lower his weapon, and then placed a finger to the side of his helmet. “Got something in the Nexus, at the fountain,” he muttered, shivering a bit, “Says it isn’t a prime but it just appeared here and has now recollection of how it arrived, so…” A low buzzing came from within the Stormtrooper’s helmet—his buddies radio’ing him back, probably—and then the trooper turned his attention back to Peter. “Okay, backup’s coming, kid,” he hesitantly said, “So… um… I’m gonna need you stay here then come with me when they get here, alright?”

Peter groaned, leaning backward so far that his brunette hair almost dipped into the fountain’s waters. The Stormtrooper, taking this as hostility, raised his rifle again, prompting the boy to jump back into ‘hands up, don’t shoot’ position. “Sorrysorrysorry,” he apologized, rolling his eyes, “Just don’t like sittin’ around, s’all.”

The Stormtrooper nodded, and lowered his sights.

And now, the boy superhero supposed, he waited.

Seriously though… where the hell was he? One minute, he’d stepped out of class, bathroom pass stuffed in a pocket of his bookbag. The next second, he’d been dropped into some extremely dark void with this glowing guy—Omni—speechifying at him about some weird stuff that just seemed like the rules to a particularly complicated LARP. And to be honest, he didn’t really have time for that. He’d given up playing ‘Wizards and Goblins’ in Central Park when he’d put on the Spider-Man mask for the first time six months ago.

This place was no Central Park, though. This… ‘Nexus’ was just a big, open field of whiteness that stretched out endlessly. The fountain he currently sat on served as the midpoint, he supposed, but he couldn’t get an accurate read of the diameter or circumference of this place. If it was a circle at all; certainly it seemed that way, but since it also seemed relatively endless, how could he tell?

He also could barely focus over the sounds of this trooper’s heavy breathing. Through its little mask, the muffled, mechanized sounds of this guy’s nervous pants forced all other sounds of out of his ears. He couldn’t hear the gentle trickle of the fountain water right behind him. He couldn’t hear himself think.

“First day on the beat, bro?”
