Well, I'll be Damned. (Nexus Travel Post)
Posted by: Koal - 10-06-2016, 01:12 AM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

Koal emerged into the sterile air of the Nexus, hissing as a wave of pain slammed into his head, and he swayed due to the after-effects of the portal. He threw a baleful glare towards the offending portal, which seemed to glow a bit brighter in response. His violet eyes flashed red as his anger spiked, and he quickly turned and stalked away from the gate. Taking a deep breath to smooth over his pride, he took in the landscape of the verse. Part of him appreciated the stark, clean look of the Nexus. Another part of him wished Omni had picked another color instead of the near-blinding white. Squinting his eyes, he spotted a squad of soldiers marching in the distance; it wasn't very many from what he could tell. The only substantial piece of reality that existed here was the fountain. It looked slightly different than when he had woken up here. Instead of rough stone, the fountain was carved of a dark grey marble, and a floating sphere resided over the calm surface of the fountain. His mind appreciating the aesthetic beauty of the fountain, he turned his gaze to one of the gates that lined the perimeter of the verse. He counted eight of them. Every one of them leaded to entirely different worlds. It was a strange thought, yet he felt as though it was normal.

Clenching his fists, he started to walk South. He felt drawn that way for some reason. The shadows that were ever-present at the back of his mind began to chitter and grow excited. He felt the pressure inside of his head grow. And he grimaces as his headache began to worsen. Blinking rapidly to disperse the tears gathering at the corners of the lilac orbs, he sped up his stride.

"Good. Very Good. Use your anger to crush your enemies into submission." Koal witnessed a version of himself almost impaled and dispatched with his own sword. A figure, dressed in elegant black robes, held his had outstretched like a claw, and his dark and raspy voice tore through Koals very soul.

"Like so."

Koal stumbled as the vision ripped through  him. It had been so vivid, and so... familiar, yet as far as The Young Demon could remember, it had never happened. Koal had never met anyone like that before, and he doubted he ever would. He remembered the blood-red glow of the mans weapon against the mask. Koal realized with growing horror what material the mask looked to be made of. Bone. He repressed a shiver as he continued to walk quickly to the southern gate.

He didn't know what the hell was going on, but he'd be damned (again) if he didn't find out soon. These visions seemed so real yet Koal had no memory of them ever taking place. He shook his head and broke into a run towards the gate, determined to leave this place before any more of those thrice-damned visions made themselves known. Throwing himself into the gateway of ice, Koal felt the familiar warping and his vision was dark.

  In the Wake of Destruction
Posted by: Kuzuru - 10-05-2016, 08:18 PM - Forum: Camelot - Replies (6)

Kuzuru sniffed the air, filling his lungs with the sweet scent of flowering fields. Long swathes of soft grass and bright flowers danced to the wind’s gentle song. The sung hung fat and lazy in the sky, only moving because it was forced to do so. Stalwart oak trees stretched towards the heavens, mimicking mankind in some sort of eternal play. Camelot was a simple place, or rather simplicity found a pleasant home in this verse of lords and knights. The demon smiled, kicked off his metal-plated flip-flops, and carried them by their thongs. The feeling of the gentle earth between his toes tingled his spine. He glanced over his shoulder and said to the others, “y’know as much as I love our toasty little home, this place ain’t half bad.”

“It ain’t bad,” Gaige nodded, “y’know besides the mind-crushing boredom, we’ve been walking for hours.”

“It’s only been like fourty minutes, maybe an hour” Kuzuru responded, “what’s your point?”

“Do you even know where we’re going?” she asked.

The demon seemed to deflate ever so slightly. He adjusted his jacket and spoke, “we’re heading to ehm, Minas Tirith. Namely the Colosseum and the surrounding area.”

“Oh,” Claptrap perked up and asked, “are we going to watch some poor meatbags fight eachother in gladitorial combat?!”

“Eh, maybe?” Kuzuru offered, not having the heart to burst Clappy’s bubble.

“Great,” the plucky robot exclaimed.

“Anyways,” Kuzuru said, “that cripple kid didn’t kill Ballad after their fight so after recovering he probably went to a bar or something.”

“What,” Gaige asked, “how are you so sure?”

The demon shrugged and flashed her a smile, “after losing us badass types tend to drown our sorrows with copious amounts of booze, women, or drugs -- sometimes all three.”

“Sounds like bullshit,” Gaige dismissed him.

Kuzuru shrugged. While what he said was indeed closer to truth than fiction the demon put together a more concrete idea of Ballad’s path of destruction. The explosion that put Ballad on the bounty board was only a few streets over from a prolific bar. Said bar’s bartender had gone missing shortly afterwards and hasn’t been seen for a while. While the demon admitted that there was a decent chance of pure coincidence he had few leads to go on. As an afterthought he relayed this information to his companions. Gaige muttered something about endless boredom. Claptrap whistled a tune of his own design. Kuzuru sighed, scowled, and kept on walking.

It was a form of culture shock the demon supposed. After all for the past God knows how long his only real companion was that feckless bladesman known as Renji. Sure there were millions -countless really - souls within the Ourobouros blade, all of them were his prisoners. Now, as much as he hated to admit it, he walked among relative equals. Primes of dubious origins, but they were primes nonetheless and that thought made Kuzuru nervous. In his mind secondaries like Charlie and Mal were fixed in strength, and to an extent he was right. But, primes, primes were another beast altogether limitless in their power and just as unpredictable as himself. It filled his gut with an exotic tonic of giddy excitement and primal fear. Like a kid poking a caged gorilla Kuzuru wanted to see just how far he could step before being swatted back amongst the mortals. Today Ballad. Tomorrow Diablo. The day after that, Omni. The thought sent titters through his body.

The group arrived at the Colosseum district as the sun reached its zenith. Posters advertising upcoming Colosseum events plastered any flat surface they could find. Street vendors sold snacks and refreshments to anyone brave enough to try their fair. Crowds pulsed through the city like fatty clots clogging up viens. Absolute sensory overload. Some sort of festival was in progress and they managed to land right in the center of it. Forming a fiery pillar of lights and sounds fireworks erupted from somewhere nearby. Another salvo of brightly coloured pyrotechnics illicited a cry of “kickass” from the mechromancer.

“Alright, looks like we chose the absolute worst time to come here,” Kuzuru said.

“Uhhh, more like BEST time, WHOOO!” Gaige exclaimed..

A small group of grubby children surrounded Claptrap. Murmers of excitement rippled throughout the young Tirithians. Despite living in the Omniverse for most of their lives none of them had seen a robot before, let alone one that would talk. A natural showman the steward bot wasted no time in showing off for his young audience. “Behold minions!” he exclaimed and produced a pistol, “state of the art Hyperion weaponry, perfect for kids of all ages!”

Kuzuru suppressed a giggle and shook his head. He glanced at Shadow then back at the other two before speaking, “okay I suppose we’ve got some time to burn, we can meet up back here in an hour. Let’s have some fun, but keep an eye out for anything that might seem like a lead okay?” Without waiting for a response the demon disappeared into the crowd. He had no intentions on participating in the festivities, but who was he to deny the others from a good time? The demon made his way to the bar that once was the home of the semi-famous bartender known simply as “Tender”.

A pinprick of familiarity bit the nape of his neck as he entered the building. It was a classier joint than Ambrosia’s, but the acrid scent of liquor was the same. Telltale patches of fresh stucco dotted the walls, the perfect size for bullet holes. Kuzuru smiled. It wasn’t much, but every potential lead was another nail in Ballad’s coffin. Despite the festivities outside the interior of the bar was quiet. Only a few regular barflies sat scattered throughout. Kuzuru sauntered towards the bar counter and took a seat. Sawdust covered the floors, no doubt to sop up any spilled drinks or haphazard tabacco spit. Despite this rustic addition and the stucco-filled bulletholes Kuzuru had to admit this place was on the up and up.

"There's nobody coming," said the first knight parked near the Fountain of Infinity.

"Let's give it a little bit longer," his partner insisted. He got an annoyed look as a response, but he didn't seem to mind. "If we leave and some Prime shows up and goes to Coruscant, we're gonna be in trouble."

The other rolled his eyes. He was about to respond with a sarcastic comment, but then they heard it. There was a splashing sound, followed by a gasp. Both of them immediately turned their heads to stare at the Fountain. Neither had seen a Prime appear. This is where they heard Primes were born in the Omniverse, but to see it in real time? To know that Omni had literally brought someone to this place right in front of them? It was a surreal sight.

When the pale hand reached out from the fountain to grasp the inside ledge, it was completely dry. Using that grip as weight, the body of a newly born Prime appeared to hoist itself out of the fountain and roll smoothly out, onto the smooth ground underneath. First, it was the heavy weather boots that thudded on impact with the bright white floor. Looking further upwards was a loud arctic blue jacket and black pants, as if the occupant inside the outfit had just come out of a blizzard. Atop the head of the person inside was a black mask covering the face, and a blue hood covered in light brown fur. It looked like an eskimo had just stumbled it's way into the Omniverse.

"Wh-wh-wh-wh..." stammered the first knight. He was shocked that anybody would appear, much less some guy dressed as if he was expecting a blizzard. "Who are you?" He asked, swallowing the knot stuck in his throat. This was terrifying, now that he had a chance to really assess how he was feeling. This was a Prime! He could do whatever he wanted to a secondary like him.

His partner was much calmer. "What is your name, Prime?" the braver knight asked. He was obviously not afraid of duty, even if it meant getting in the way of a bad Prime.

The figure in front of them was looking around. They could see the person's eyes...and only their eyes. They were sharp and powerful as they surveyed the area around them curiously. They had just listened to a speech from Omni before being thrusted into the Fountain of Infinity. Now they were seeing this place for the first time. The figure then looked over at the knights - who looked way out of place - with curiosity. They brought their hand up to their face and pulled the ski mask down to their neck. Underneath was a bony-faced face who furrowed his brows. "Where I'm from, they call me...Cold." He said it sternly, as if he were narrating over something. "Who are you?"

The more talkative of the two knights looked at his partner to confirm he was still scared and unsure of what to say. Once he saw he was in no condition to say anything intelligent, he took the reigns of the conversation. "We are Knights of Camelot. We are here to guide you to our Kingdom, where you can see the most prominent verse in the Omniverse on display."

The man known as Cold stared at the two. Specifically, he targeted the knight that was stammering, almost literally shaking in his boots. His gaze was strong and intimidating. "Why should I bother?"

The taller knight began to speak. "Well, because-"

"No," the blue stranger interrupted. "I'm not asking you anymore. I'm asking him." He nodded his head at the cowering knight who was content to let his partner handle the interaction. This stranger had sensed his terror, and was demanding he join in. "If I'm going to follow anyone, it's not going to be the man that is shaking in his armor." Cold stepped forward, causing both men to back up defensively. One reached for his sword. The other didn't reach for anything. That was the one Cold was stepping towards. "So tell me, Knight In Shining Armor. Why should I go to your Camelot?"

The man gulped again, terrified. Cold was almost right in his face. He was staring him down with that fierce glare. But somehow, then younger knight stood up tall, puffing his plate-covered chest out and said: "Because we're telling you to. You...you don't have a choice. We're under orders to bring any new Primes in today. No Primes can go to Coruscant today."

That was good information to have. Cold processed it for a moment. This Camelot was diverting all Primes to their place, thus halting the flow to this other place...Coruscant. Cold let out a small 'huh' as if he was surprised/impressed by the stones that the knight suddenly grew, and then nodded his head. "Lead the way, then." He put his hands up, as if offering to follow.

The two knights exchanged a look and nodded at each other. They had succeeded in not only getting this Prime to follow, but also in ensuring the stormtroopers of Coruscant didn't know about it. They both turned and walked on either side of the man who introduced himself as Cold.

For his part, Cold was constantly calculating his situation. He didn't have his Cold Gun, so he knew he couldn't fight these two bare-handed while they had very sharp-looking blades. But if this Omni character was to be believed, then he could easily summon his weapon later once he figured out how. Following these grunts was an easy way to get to a populated city and then figure out what to do on his own.

His name was Leonard Snart. An innocent name. A seemingly non-threatening name. But his world...his world was Cold and Dark.

Until then, he kept listening. Kept waiting for the right moment. He had fought scarlet speedsters and had traveled time and space. But more important then all of those things - he was a thief. A damn good thief. This was nothing more then another puzzle to solve. And once he solved it...once the riddle was deciphered...no Knights in Shining Armor were going to stop him from taking what he wanted.

  Borderlocke : Pre-Sequel
Posted by: Dr. McNinja - 10-05-2016, 06:14 PM - Forum: The Arcade - Replies (2)

I'm doing a no-death run of Borderlands the Presequel. I would like your votes on which character to play.

ATHENA:
She's the 'main character', to be honest. She has a cool-ass shield which can block almost any damage and then sorta charge it up and throw it. She can make lightning and fire everywhere or rip off Captain America and throw said shield.

CLAPTRAP:
I don't know. Never played him. His ability is make random things happen..?

WILHELM:
Meet T-800 and a Power Ranger robot's love child. Shoulder turrets, really long punches, and he gets two drones that are nice to have.

NISHA:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0BrdMi-oyc

That's pretty much it. Gotta love that built-in aimbot.

JACK:
Jack is all about making hologram versions of himself and promptly destroying them for a buff. It only sorta makes sense in context. Decoys are good survivability.

And hey, if you're (un)lucky, I might do like a progress report as I play or summin.

Note: Some of you might have heard of Pokemon Nuzlocke playthroughs. Essentially it's Pokemon but with the no-death rule, and you can only catch one per area. The thread title comes from that.

  Rebby Mafia Game Thread
Posted by: Blink - 10-05-2016, 03:22 PM - Forum: The Arcade - Replies (253)

Welcome campers, to Camp Rebby-Is-Awesome! You're all super lucky to get access to this exclusive summer camp (so exclusive that it's the only summer camp that takes place in the fall!). Let's go through the roster here, and see who is who...

01. Omni
02. Hiro
03. Okar
04. NateTheGreat
05. Victor Wolfe
06. Marcus Wright
07. Violet
08. Gaige
09. Steven Universe
10. Dave
11. Guu
12. Jade Harley
13. Trixie
14. Mark
15. Eric Everstorm

Now for the secret! Among the 15 of you, only 11 are innocent and 4 are up to no good! We have three members of the Mafia that are looking to take this camp over, by any means nessecary! There is only one Psycopath, who is looking to be the last one standing! Everyone else is an innocent Camper. Let's go over some the roles that have been divided among all of you.

Each night, those with special roles can act on them, such as protecting, investigating or eliminating other players. Each day, everybody will vote in an attempt to lynch the bad guys, while the bad guys attempt to avoid lynching. Majority always rules. Ties are broken by a certain role - if that role is not in the game, ties result in no lynches.

Psycopath - This person is on their own team. They can kill (eliminate) up to three players in the entire game, and can use these kills at any point in the game (at night phase). They can use all three in one go, or save them all for the end. They win the game if they make it to the Final Two (or clinch a position there).

Godfather - This is the leader of the Mafia. Each night, the Mafia gets to kill (eliminate) one person. The Godfather is the person responsible for the final decision and sending it to me. The mafia wins when they equal 50% of the players remaining (with the counselor dead) or more then 50% (with counselor alive) (or clinch that position).

Goon (2) - Simple mafia followers. If the Godfather dies, Goon 1 will become the New Godfather. The Goons are unaware of who is 1 or 2.

Camp Counselor - The leader of the townies, but they will be unknown unless their choose to reveal themselves. Their vote counts double and their vote breaks any ties. If the counselor is eliminated, ties will result in no lynch.

Detective - Each night the detective can investigate one person's role. They will be given the results in secret.

Medic - Each night the medic can protect one person. If they are attacked that night, the attack will be unsuccessful. The victim and the medic will know that an attack was attempted, but not who. The victim will not be told who the medic is. The medic can protect themself for one night only. Any other person can be protected multiple times.

Camper (8) - A simple townie. They have the power to vote each day for who they want to lynch (eliminate).

---------------------

DAY ONE

As you all move into your cabins and get to know each other, both the Mafia and the Psycopath are starting to get their plans in motion! You can take your first stab at lynching someone, or you can opt to wait and see what happens at night (maybe we'll all get along and nobody will get hurt?)

Quote:If you wish to vote, please very clearly type (in bold): Vote - <Name>

If you choose to cancel your vote, please clearly type (in bold): Cancel Vote - <Name>

If you choose to change your vote. Please clearly type (in bold): Change Vote from <Name> to <Name>

It takes 8 votes to lynch someone. You have until 3:30 PM EST on Thursday to vote.

All roles have been sent out. If you have not received your role, then you are a Camper.

Character Test Run - Hinata Hyūga vs Someone?
Posted by: Kaylee - 10-05-2016, 03:07 PM - Forum: The Whateververse, Man - Replies (7)

Looking for an opponent to do mock fight with. In this mock fight, I will be using a character that is not in the Omniverse yet: Hinata Hyūga. This will be a test run to see exactly how well a can roleplay Hinata, at least if it's just a battle situation. Here is Hinata's join app.

Character name: Hinata Hyūga

Character source: Naruto Series

Character history:

Hinata was born into the Hyūga family and the heiress to succeed her father. Although she was take up this position, the young girl’s meek personality prevented her from excelling in combat training with her father. It was apparent to most that Hinata would be less than suitable as the heiress early on in her life. Her sister Hanabi took the position to lead the Hyūga clan after a fight with Hinata, who refused to harm her sibling, a sentiment that wasn't mutual.

On a snowy day, Hinata was being bullied by a couple thug-children, who made fun of her visual jutsu, the Byakugan. A passing by Naruto, instantly rushed to her aid, despite not knowing her. He did his best to protect Hinata, but was beat up and knocked out within a minute. During the skirmish, Naruto’s red scarf was torn and damaged. Hinata took this scarf, and wished to return it to him. When she attempted, the blonde refused to take it back, wanting her to keep it.

Growing up training in the Ninja Academy, Hinata looked up to Naruto as an idol of sorts. She admired his go-to attitude and trained under his principle of ideal. “I never go back on my word.” She used this to excel herself, training to become strong, just as Naruto is. This finally broke her timid nature, allowing her to become more of an asset than a burden to her teammates.

Hinata was summoned into the Omniverse when trying to protect Naruto from Pain’s onslaught. Just before Pain was about to finish off Naruto, Hinata bravely jumped into his rescue. Knowing that she would not stand an iceberg’s chance in hell, the woman attempted to free Naruto from his somewhat crucified position nailed to the floor by destroying the black receivers restricting his movement. After breaking most of the receivers and nearly dying, Hinata has a near-death experience where she witness many fond memories of Naruto that led her to be who she was today. Once she regained consciousness, she hesitated not to painfully limp her way to Naruto to save him. A few falls and some crawling, she finally reached him. Just before exclaiming how much Naruto meant to her, Pain mercilessly drug her to him, smashing her body into the earth and finally stabbing her through the chest with one of the black receivers that held down the blonde youth. Not much later, she regained consciousness in front of Omni.

Physical Description:

Stats:
ATK: 2
DEF: 2
SPD: 2
TEC: 4

Starting Proficiencies: (2000) Physical Strength, Ranged

Starting Powers: (1800)Master Acrobat, Foresight

Starting Moves: (1200)

Kunai - Physical Strength and Ranged Proficiency (600)

A simple ninja weapon. A Kunai is small blade about the size of a dagger that is meant to be thrown, but can also be used as a close range melee weapon. Hinata carries ten of them on her in the pouch strapped to her right thigh, ready to be used when she deems it necessary. It takes thirty seconds to summon one kunai and they must be summoned one-by-one, so it will take five minutes to be restocked completely. The amount of time to replace one by summoning makes it difficult, if not impossible, to summon them during battle.

Jūho Sōshiken - Physical Strength Super Move (600) (For Approval not purchase yet.)

Hinata channels her chakra into a kind of physical prowess. Her hands glow a transient blue in the shale of guardian-lion spirits. It greatly increases her ability to damage opponents, and is normally supposed to cause a debilitating effect that shuts off the flow chakra in a person’s body. The effect seems to be lost in the Omniverse however, for Hinata’s opponents don't seem to be affected by it. When performed, this attack is usually thrusted inward at the opponent’s midsection. Since she is unable to use this technique for very long in the Omniverse, it makes an ideal one-shot-spot to attack.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.
Yep!
Where did you find us? Turkey Sandwich.

Rules are simple:

Word limit per post is 800 words.
Players have 48 hours to post, don't be late!
Plan your moves carefully cause you get three times to post each!
You aren't immortal! Careful you don't let that damage meter get the better of you.
Super Moves are available for total destruction! Have at it!
The Arena is...Well that has yet to be decided!! We should get on that hunh?
Our Judge is the glorious No One! If only he was good at grading. Anyone feel like replacing the poor fellow?

Thanks to Markashi for checking out my app to make sure my moves were decent for combat!

  A Clean Glass
Posted by: Demetri Malius - 10-05-2016, 02:47 PM - Forum: Camelot - Replies (6)

The bartender shined the reflective glass of the cup he held in his hand. Though it was all he semed to do, there was so much more he could do beyond it. He was trained in unarmed combat, much like any well trained server in his day, ready to lay waste to any miscreants on the property. He was unsure about the new owner at first, being obviously a thief, but clearly the thief had his own respect for property and entristed the bartender with it.

Since the incident when the owner changed hands, customers dwindled, but some have already started coming back, entranced by its new look. The Bartender had to admit he appreciated it. Since Master Demetri had left, a few of the customers had come in and the bartender, having always a keen eye, had managed to recruit a well known local rhief or two into the guild. He continued his work, taking care of the establishment and keeping an eye out for trouble. He had also recieved a message on his pocket watch about a Prime that would come in for access to the uplink device in the cellar. He wondered when he would arrive here. Ozryn was quite a small city.

To those thinking of hunting my bounty

I've seen a bit too many people after my booty for the bounty money lately. Okor and Hiro have both threatened me, presumably over the bounty.

Well, uh, guess what? I'm actually in the hands of the guys in white. As in, I'm being escorted by Stormtroopers. Right. Fucking. Now.

So, uh, since they have me anyway, I'm pretty sure you won't get the bounty money for beating me down for no apparent reason.

I'm just leaving this note here in case anyone else decides I'm easy OM...Even though my bounty is still on the board, think of it from an IC standpoint. They already have me, so why give you money for making them have to haul back an unconscious man/wait around at the Fountain for Mick to respawn, rather than just walking a live man to the station? At that point it's just creating more work.

I can't speak for the Empire definitively, and any staffer can override me, but do keep in mind where Mick actually is in-character before you go "oh, hey, I'mma beat down Mick and get the bounty money."

Thank you.
