  Chapter One: Wounds
Posted by: Harry Potter - 03-13-2017, 05:19 PM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

(02-16-2017, 05:51 AM)Harry Potter Wrote: Harry Potter sat on the brim of the Nexus Fountain for a rather long time, wearing his invisibility cloak, and watching a rather chaotic scene unfold.

First, he had been startled by the sudden appearance of a vampire, who had drank the now blood-red waters of the fountain from a goblet.

He was less surprised when the pretty elf girl emerged from the fountain. Harry listened intently as the two fresh Primes remarked on where they might be and how they ended up wherever they are now. Harry was less concerned, having had these same questions on numerous and occasions and eventually coming to the conclusion that it's best not to ask.

Perhaps the least surprising thing of Harry Potter's entire day, not counting his breakfast, was watching a vampire rip a man off a horse and suck his blood out through his neck.

Harry was more hungry than surprised when a third figure rose from the fountain, now formed into the shape of an hourglass and filled with ash.

Harry was starting to get bored and considered getting up when a human figure fell out of the sky and landed in the floor of Nexus, before comically deploying a parachute.

He summoned a sandwich as the fountain again changed into a granite pillar, from which emerged a flurry of parchment and ink that quickly formed itself into a rather polite  young man.

The fountain again became the smooth, clear waters Harry had known, and another figure emerged, this one a girl barely old enough to attend Hogwarts.

Harry was quiet interested in their conversations despite himself, but still did not feel the urge to reveal himself.

Harry was once again surprised when the Fountain began billowing smoke, and then he was mad at himself for his surprise. He edged away from the monster-like Prime as it walked out of the fountain.

Harry had finished his sandwich and was neither hungry nor surprised when six guards arrived to pursue the vampire, who had been languidly observing the different gates and chatting, looking for a new home.

The most surprising part of Harry Potter's day, not including his sudden abduction into an alternate universe, was watching the vampire turn himself into a playing card and play a beautiful game of three-card-monty with the pursuing horsemen. The second most surprising part of Harry Potter's day (again not counting his abduction) was watching that vampire jump into the trunk of a speeding ghost car driven by a transparent version of himself and disappear into one of the gates.

Harry sighed deeply, and removed his cloak.

He was a lean young man with a thousand yard stare in his bright green eyes, glinting behind a pair of shining spectacles. His untidy black hair came down in front of his hard face, failing to conceal the jagged lightning bolt scar on his forehead.

Harry walked towards one of the mounted guards calming his horse. His black wizard's robe stayed close to his body, and his right hand held his holly-and-phoenix-feather wand casually.

"Excuse me," Harry asked the guard politely, as the guard tried to reign his horse in. Harry waited, perhaps less patiently than he would on another day, but the guard did not acknowledge him.

Harry cleared his throat, pointed his wand at his neck, and murmured 'sonourus'.

"EXCUSE ME," Harry repeated in a thundering voice, spooking the guards horse further. Harry stood on the rim of the fountain as he waited for the guards and interested Primes mulling about to form a kind of small group around. Harry dismissed his speaking spell and addressed the group.

"Is there someone here who has been in this universe for more than an hour?"

***

Harry (and perhaps some of the other fresh Primes in the vicinity but to be fair he wasn't really paying attention) listened as closely as he could as the Camelot guard gave his garbled version of Omniverse history, trying not to feel like a History of Magic lesson taught by an American redneck.

He learned about Primes, and Secondaries, and Omnillium.

He learned about the war between Aragorn and Palpatine, and thus, Camelot and the Empire.

Of all the events Harry Potter had experienced that day, including his abduction, by far the most surprising event was hearing that Albus Dumbledore was currently living in Dalaran.

***

His ears were ringing. His eyes were filled with light. His forehead felt like it might split open.

In front of him was a monster. It had giant eyes the size of dinner plates, and long ropey tentacles that pulled at his robes. He saw himself reach out a hand, and tickle the monster.

The monster giggled, and released its grip. He watched the giant squid sink back down into the lake. He felt himself walk over to the lake and lean forward.

He saw the warm, handsome face of the young Tom Riddle staring back at him.

***

Harry removed himself from the conversation awkwardly, stumbling to the gates of Camelot and falling to his knees. He stared at the gate, and asked himself questions only Dumbledore could answer.

When he rose to his feet, it was with the conviction of a man who took every test Albus Dumbledore could throw at him and passed with flying colors. It was with the conviction of a man who, for once in his life, can choose his own destiny.

And Harry Potter felt his destiny lay elsewhere.

Harry James Potter, The Chosen One, sat on the edge of the Infinity Fountain and looked through the eyes of Tom Marvolo Riddle.

***

Tom Riddle was watching a young Harry Potter, The Boy Who Lived , make sharp turns around a Quiditch pitch.

***

At the Nexus fountain, Harry James Potter, The Chosen One, felt a rush of pride from Tom.

***

Tom Riddle walked unhurriedly down a familiar Hogwarts hallway, his robe swishing perhaps a bit less menacingly than Harry remembered. Harry could tell there was something on his, some magical theory that was too technical for Harry to understand. There was variable in there, OM, that Harry was quite sure he had never seen before. Tom Riddle caught sight of himself in a mirror, and couldn't help but grin, fixing the hair around his handsome face. He looked in his own dark eyes and seemed startled for a moment.

"Well," he said to his reflection as he leaned forward, gazing into his own eyes deeply. "Isn't this a pleasant surprise?"

***

At the Nexus Fountain, Harry James Potter, The Chosen One, smiled. He leaned forward over the fountain until he is looking into his own, bright green eyes.

"Hello, Tom."

***

"Hello, Harry," Tom said, in the Hogwarts in the Pale Moors.

A silence stretched between minds. Tom was always the one who had a way with words, though.

"You are a man now. Did you ever manage to defeat your greatest foe?"  Tom asked casually.

In the Nexus, Harry grinned. "My greatest foe? You mean my self doubt? No, I believe that is an ongoing war."

"Ah," said Tom knowingly. "Well, perhaps the power of love will overcome such obstacles in time."

"Voldemort lost," said Harry, without malice or apology.

"Ah," said Tom. A flicker passes over his face, too fast for Harry to read, but then the handsome face is smiling warmly again. "I'm sure it was for the best."

"Yes," said Harry quietly.

After some time, Riddle spoke. "Have you heard? Do you know who is here?"

Harry nodded. "I've heard. Is he-" Harry's question died on his lips.

"Albus Dumbledore will fight until the day he dies," Tom said sadly.

"I will not survive another war," Harry replied. Tom shrugged in response.

"Come teach," he suggested.

Harry looked away from the fountain. It was a long time before he looked back.

"I'm sorry Tom, some wounds need time to heal," Harry replied. Tom Marvolo Riddle, the man who, in a different life, would become the dreaded Lord Voldemort and murderer of Lily and James Potter, understood.

"Well, perhaps another time then. You know there will always be a place here at Hogwarts for you," Tom said sincerely. "For now, I think you should relax."

Harry's eyebrows rose. "Sorry, that's just...not advice I ever thought I'd hear from you."

Tom shrugs again, a casual movement Harry had not seen from him before.

"The Omniverse is strange that way," said Riddle.

Harry nods, communicating his understanding that he didn't understand. And Tom's idea had merit; Harry was very anxious as of late. "How do I...where could I go to relax?" asked Harry, his mind full of the warfare in Camelot and the fire of the Ashen Steps.

Tom smiles at his old enemy. "Try Costa Del Sol."

Preintrest Check on Remade Villain Faction
Posted by: Beta Ray Bill - 03-11-2017, 01:02 AM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (3)

After a long of thinking I am going to try and restart the Omniverse villain faction. Like my previous one the Society of Supervillains we will be doing various villain stuff and as well as trying to gain world domination. This remade version of a villain faction will be aimed with more secrecy and stricter intry into the faction. We will also be taking smaller step in effort to not repeat what happened to the original villain faction. So if any one is interested or have questions don't hesitate to post here.

Loaf of Bread, Gallon of Milk, Stick of Butter
Posted by: Tearen Wover - 03-10-2017, 11:43 PM - Forum: The Astral Realm - No Replies

My arms are itchy. God, why are they so itchy. I can't seem to think straight. Did I leave the light in the bathroom on? It feels like there are three of me. My body can't decide what it wants to do. Was I breathing properly? Flip over.

Flip over again.

Fuckin' itchy ass arms. Why are my legs yelling so loud at my neck? Nobody is getting along. Feel like I'm losing control.

I swear to god I'd better feel better in the morning. Behemoth needs me to...

The neighbors better take that damn dog out to piss before I mow them down. Christ.

9 gauge wire was the only solution here. After they climbed up onto the plateau, the convict needed to take his clothes off. The harsh light from above scattered reflections of all kinds on his green suit.

Shit, what did Behemoth need? Something like with...groceries. Groceries. Loaf of Bread, Gallon of Milk, Stick of Butter. That can't be fucking right. Loaf of Bread, Gallon of Milk, Stick of Butter. Easy stuff. The pharmacy would actually probably have it in their cooler section. Modern convenience at its best.

Anyway, that...oh my god that fucking dog needs to stop barking right now. Should I run to the bathroom real quick? Ugh. My legs are still causing a huge ruckus, and I need to go to the grocery store pharmacy. Don't want to get Behemoth all pissy. Loaf of Milk, Stick of Bread, Gallon of Butter. Alright. Better get going.

Damn it's dusty up in this desert. Luckily my bike is nearby. I kick the old bitch into gear and take off down the road. The Gallon Space Elevator can be seen shimmering up into the midday sky. It's so pretty to see stuff like this. The desert whizzes by me on either side of the road. Red circles on wooden posts are marked every couple hundred feet so people can keep track of where their dogs are. Luckily I don't have a stupid dog so I blast on past...though apparently my larynx is trying to lead a rebellion against my brain. What an asshole. Loaf of Butter, Stick of Milk, Gallon of Bread.

Finally the pharmacy comes into view. You can recognize it because of the fact that it's made out of all this huge black metal spike stuff. A lizard woman with an incredibly long neck comes and takes my bike to park for me. The valet service is so worth it, even though the hospital doesn't validate parking if you use it. That's fine. I'm only going to be visiting Behemoth for a little while. I walk into the pharmacy, brushing past all of the foliage in the way. They really need to go easy on the planters; it's like a jungle in here. The convict in the green suit is waiting for me at the front desk, petting his tiger friend.

That's kind of inappropriate. Oh great, my legs are siding with my larynx.

"Hi Millie," says the green-suited convict. He has dark skin and pale hair. A glowing blue monocle is embedded on his right eye. "...what brings you here today?"

"Just getting some groceries for Behemoth. Where's the cooler section?"

"Oh, we moved that to the back of the building. You'll have to go through the basement." the convict says. His tiger stripes flash back and forth between blue and orange. I scoff.

"Great, and here I thought this was gonna be easy."

I shove off from the countertop, itching my arm absentmindedly. The door to the basement is off to the left, behind a small grove of palm trees. I open the heavy door and descend the cool sandstone steps. There's a stone balustrade off to my left, and beyond it, a dark and stormy sea. If you squint you can just make out the Night Giants doing their daily migration to stay out of the sun. Each one is over three hundred feet tall, all black shaggy skin and gleaming yellow eyes. Distant thunder echoes over the black, glistening water as Edwin, my manservant, approaches.

"Millie, it's good that you're here. You need to attend to your royal duties at the chocolate factory." the sniveling butler says, his large black wings flaring out slightly. I sigh and adjust my flowing white dress. I remember the first time I came down here and Edwin gave me the royal tour. It had been a thundery night, just like this one. Angels had descended down into the colosseum, each one blinding white and full of thunder. We walk further into the crumbling architecture, once-great vaulted windows and columns now falling to pieces. Through the yellowed, dust-covered windows I can see that hateful, dark city, down in the orange void. A single winding line of black highway zig-zags through the sunset air down into the black walls. I can see the crawling shapes of the vampire and gargoyles from here. I give a shiver.

"Maybe later Edwin. I need to get some groceries." I say, the bangles on my itchy wrists jingling softly. We begin ascending the spiral staircase to the colosseum. No angels today. I breath a sigh of relief. We're not out of the basement yet, though. Off at the end of the wide-open area, there's a waterfall that crashes into a blue pond. Thick, dangling moss chokes the towering rocks around the next door. I slip behind the crashing water as it spills over the shelf-like rock formation. I immediately begin to cough a little bit, as the dust shoots straight up my nose.

Oh hell.

A dusty road stretches out into the night. Brown, dusty hills encroach in from the left and right, while dead trees whisper and creak under the steady breeze. I join my team at the base of a dual staircase. It looks like I'll be attending to my royal duties after all.

"Oh, Millie, glad you're here." says the professor. His long grey beard jiggles with every word. "Which team do you want to be on tonight?" he asks. I offer a long sigh.

"Blue, I guess."

The second I say this, I'm immediately surrounded by a shimmering blue aura. It looks like I'll be rolling with Edwin and Jandace then. The Professor and his usual friends are red. That's okay. I'm better at killing blue monsters anyway. They usually have the ability to regenerate, but Negotiator negates that.

"Alright, take the staircase to the right then. Keep us apprised." the Professor says, taking his spear in hand. I heft Negotiator from her resting place on my back and make sure that the load-struts on my armor are functioning optimally. I've been having some trouble with the pistons on my right greaves lately. There's a small landing halfway up the right staircase with an old, worn brass gate that blocks our progress. Point of no return.

"Let's do it." says Jandace, her fire orbs circling her slowly. I nod and kick the door down. The second I do so, the monster are on us in almost an instant. A big pair of werecrows booms down the steps, barking loudly in their strange tongue. Their white, useless eyes rolls around in a frenzy as they slam all the rusty wheelbarrows and other junk in the way. I open fire with negotiator on the leftmost werecrow and it drops like a sack of potatoes. I maintain my fire on it, the red lasers from Negotiator illuminating the gleaming eyes of the other monsters in the area. Once I'm convinced that it's dead, I seal it with my blue aura and the werecrow evaporates into an indigo haze. We carry on like this for a few more minutes before reaching the nave. All the furniture here has dust covers on it, and a massive grandfather clock drones ominously in the corner. From atop this cluttered cliff I can barely make out the progress of red team on the other plateau. It seems like they're making good progress.

I hear a loud creaking from my right, and instinctively haul Negotiator around to aim at the abomination. It's a giant bird skull on a mechanical spine with metal rimmed/ glass eyes, like its wearing goggles. It makes no noise except for mechanical whirs and clicks. It jabs its beak at me and I duck backwards. I have no idea where Jandace and Edwin are. Maybe they decided to spend their soul points over in the chaos nexus. It would have been nice of them to let me know.

The mechanized bird skull lunges again, its massive beak agape and ready to snap me up like a worm. I can't move that fast in my heavy armor, but luckily the servos in its clockwork neck are relatively weak. I drop Negotiator and grab the top and bottom points of the beak with my gloved hands. The clockwork abomination drags me around for a few feet, but I'm not letting go.

"Now Ghurtle!" I shout. My faithful partner scuttles forth from the shadows, his nine hairy legs glowing a violent pink color as he gathers soul energy into his mouth. The crawling little beastie unleashes a barrage of flaming pink rocks at the abomination's machinery and engine block. Each one causes a tiny explosion that rocks the dusty nave like a tiny earthquake. Soon enough, the bird skull boss clatters and clanks to the ground, defeated. I stand up straight, panting, and smile at Ghurtle. The Soul Spider smiles back, his toothy fangs glinting in the wan brown light.

"Ready to move on?" he gurgles. I shake my head.

"Nah, I need to pee."

My eyes flutter open and I look around in a haze. What time is it? I glance at my phone. 11:25. Fuck. Could have sworn I was asleep for hours. God my head.

I stagger out of bed and use the bedroom, not bothering to wash my hands before I clamber back into bed. Everything hurts and I feel like absolute shit. Fuck it.

I feel like there was something I had to do tomorrow...Ugh.

  Roleplaying History Fodder
Posted by: Desman Black - 03-10-2017, 05:32 AM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (1)

I'm thinking of Expanding my history (As my charater now does have a "cannon" History) I have 2 questions.

1. Can I do this

2. I planning on Des being pulled from inside the actual space-time continurum, giving him the power to 'see' all his alternate selfs that are Outside the omniverse. By "see" , I mean think of them as his memories, but if ever forced into completely focusing on them (witcch whould hardly ever hsppen anyway) he would faint. Is this also possible. EDIT: Also this WILL NOT be an instant character knowing device, any charaters that he would know (witch would be very very limited) He would think of them as familiar abd not know why they are or ANYTHING about them or their past.

So, I'm notoriously known for swapping my characters constantly, and being horrible at sticking to anything or anyone.
That is something I want to work on, so that for once, I could maybe get somewhere.

So, I hereby request, that my swapping of either Jaina or Nova, would be prevented for the next 6 months.
If possible, I would like to include a caveat to this as follows:
If the staff member "Dark Link" deems that my situation is f**ked up enough to permit a swap, he could allow me to do so ahead of time.
He has the full details on what kind of situation would have to occur, for him to allow it ahead of time.

Log links of characters in question here:
http://omniverse-rpg.com/showthread.php?tid=4015 Nova
http://omniverse-rpg.com/showthread.php?tid=4078 Jaina

Please, and thank you.
I want to for once, get somewhere. Be something.

  Of Evil's Bane
Posted by: Mami Tomoe - 03-10-2017, 02:37 AM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

Crunch.

It’s awfully dark.

I feel as though I am without something important. In but a moment, as though it had always been that way, I feel as though I am without everything important to me.

Who am I?

...Lights. No, a person. A figure? It’s… too blurry to tell.

A voice… one I feel I should recognize, but I don’t. I’ll be watching… and waiting.

H…

...Homu...ra…?

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

...

My temples drum uncomfortably against my brain, ordering me to stand. With a gentle exhale through my barely-parted lips, I let my eyes flutter open.

There appears to be nothing above me. The sky is simply white, as though it were a subtle detail somebody had forgotten to fill in and not very nearly a centerpiece of an environment. The ground below me, too, has a nondescript sort of appearance - it has an eclectic sort of texture, I note as I try and get a grip on it. For a moment it feels slimy, then like marble, then almost like paper. My heart skips a beat as I briefly entertain the idea of this surface not bearing my weight much longer.

A new Prime finally arrives.

I raise a brow. Who’s there? A direction seems to call out to me as I hear it - my left, I observe and turn my head. Much unlike the scenery all around otherwise, there appears to be a sort of small clearing in a forest which doesn’t exist. Past a ring of trees, dark, dewy grass looks as though it hasn’t been tread in millennia. Centered in it lies a stone pedestal with a tablet on its front - it’s easily about fifteen feet away, so I can’t seem to read it.

Embedded in the top of the squared-off, light-grayish block of stone is a purple-hilted blade with winglike guards and a gem embedded in its hilt, gleaming like gold.

Search your memories, orders the voice. It… I lack the words to describe it. As I rise, I feel the compulsion to kneel, as though I stand in the presence of a god. Speak your name.

In awe I approach, furrowing my brow a bit as I think. “I…”

The well is dry. No memories come. Those few that do… yes. One seems to fit. A name called out by somebody dear rings in my mind.

“...am Mami. Mami Tomoe.”

You do not bear his name, observes the voice. And yet… you are worthy to wield his blade.

“His blade?” I inquire. I occupy myself still searching my mind for memories. No others come - only faint images and blurry visages. I step at last before the blade in the pedestal, and realize the words on the tablet are completely illegible. It’s like reading a language that isn’t of this world and… something in my mind tells me that really is the case.

The blade of evil’s bane, it answers. You are late to answer your call, Hero. After a moment, the voice adds, step forward. Draw this blade. You will be needed in the dark days to come.

I don’t know who I am. I don’t know what I’m doing. I don’t know who I’m taking orders from - only that they seem far beyond me. And yet…

A voice deep with in me says this is right. I step forward and wrap my left hand, then my right around the hilt of the blade. I take in a deep breath and try to gently lift it upwards…

It shifts shockingly quickly, as though I had just unlocked something. A golden beam of light streaks into the air - I yelp, shielding my face with my arm and diving backwards to defend myself. After a few seconds of silence, I let my arm fall to my side. The blade is gone from its pedestal and in my hand. I suppose I forgot to let go of it…

I sharply inhale as something starts to burn a bit on my left hand. I raise it to examine it, only to see… in that same light, a golden triangle forming a larger one with two other, fainter triangles. The bright one glows, forcing my eyes to squint and water, then fades to look almost simply like a tattoo.

The Fountain will soon change… and I must go dormant. Your purpose will become clear, Hero of Justice. Seek the Regal one, and all will become clear.

In a blinding flash, the voice cuts out and fades to silence. What used to be a grove is now… yes, as the voice decreed, a fountain. A beautiful marble one with three women - each holding a rounded gemstone of red, green and blue - spraying water from their mouth and into the basin below.

But… Hero of Justice? Dark days to come? What’s going to happen, I wonder? I eye my newfound weapon for a moment, and… suddenly I feel a strange weight on my back. A scabbard for it hangs from a strap across my torso. I slip the blade away over my left shoulder.

I hear a distant shout and turn my eyes toward it. “Hey! You there, with the sword!” shouts a figure in… what appears to be full plate armor. Plate armor which looks particularly uncomfortable.

Panting heavily, the figure about six feet tall creaks over, slapping his hands on his knees. “Man… noticed something weird happening at the Fountain,” he explains, “and I saw somebody walking over to it. So, uh,” he adds, then looks me up and down. I let my blade hang casually at my side.

“...new Prime?” he asks.

“Prime?... yes, the word rings a bell,” I reply. “Something about… Omni, right?” I suddenly very vividly recall the words in my mind: this is not the world you know.

“That would be the gist of it,” he replies as he stands up straight again. I notice a colossal sword - a claymore, I recall, slung over his shoulder. “You might be a bit disoriented. I’m a knight of Camelot. On post to look out for people like yourself - new around here, looking for answers and explanations, that sort of thing.”

I smile a little and let out a little giggle. “Is it that obvious I’m a tourist?” I get a bit of a chuckle in response.

“Well, one way or another, there’s dangerous stuff out here. Never know when the next Prime without, er… their faculties straight might come about. That, and we’ve caught word of something weird around here…”

“Something… weird?” I repeat, raising a brow.

With a quick, offbeat clang-clang-clang as he does so, he shakes his helmed head back and forth. “Let’s hope it doesn’t come to seeing one of them…”

A sickening squelch reaches my ears. The armored figure before me stumbles forward, falling on one knee. As he stumbles over, I can see it on his back - what looks like a purplish arrow sticking out of him. Over his shoulder, I can see distantly a figure with a similar-looking bow in hand, reaching for a quiver at its hip.

My expression, once nothing but shock, twists into one of spiteful judgment as I stare down an odd, mechanical-looking thing drawing back its bowstring for another shot. Over my shoulder, I hear something - a sort of distorted humming noise. “Engaging,” notes a commanding-sounding woman from that same direction. “Get down, Prime!”

Concerned for whose orders I’m following, I instead duck and roll aside. The air behind me screams as a reddish flash of light flies past me, pinging loudly off of the monster ahead. As I land on my feet I grab for my new blade and look to whoever’s just arrived.

Someone much taller than myself in all white armor stands with a heavy-looking black rifle of some sort. “I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what that is,” I explain, “but I’m destroying it. Surely you won’t object?”

The armored woman nods. “Go ahead. If you need it, I can call in backup.”

I narrow my eyes and smile. Something about this… feels oddly familiar. Fighting with someone on the line, that is. But I have to get this done fast, or he might…

...No. “Excuse me for a moment,” I chime to my plate-adorned acquaintance. Without another word, I dash forward, swerving and just about gliding across the invisible plains below my boots. Brandishing my blade with an odd sort of confidence, I run it along the ground, kicking up sparks and snow-like dust as I close the distance.

Effortlessly I flip and roll past a series of arrow volleys aimed in my direction. I catch the anonymous archer aiming past me - perhaps far enough for me to be unable to interject if I were only as fast as a normal person. That’s quite fortunately not the case. That, and I’d like to see if I can’t do something really cool. I eye the shot as it’s loosed, sidestepping and redirecting my momentum just right to aim for where a line from my current position and the arrow’s trajectory can meet--

On what feels like pure instinct I stand down the arrow and let it split in two along the razor edge of my sword. It splinters satisfyingly into equal halves, flying harmlessly off to either side of me. My heart pounds encouragingly in my chest, as though cheering me on. This is familiar.

I’m just close enough now. I dash forward, finally entering close quarters. I duck under a panicked, half-drawn arrow and reach backwards, rearing my hand for a slap to stun my target. And… instead, I feel something slide from my sleeve, and a weight catch on what feels like some sort of rope. As I pull my arm back, I see something. An arrow. The same arrow I just dodged.

With a confident smirk I pierce my blade into the ground behind me and flip backwards, kicking my unfortunate enemy upside the chin with my heel as I go. Taking advantage of my new opportunity, I swing my arm around, aiming my hand around head level with the creature.

Checkmate. The arrow swings around and passes into its head through one side, then out the other. As the need for the arrow vanishes, the ribbon attached to it snaps at its center. The half still up my sleeve returns to its place.

I turn around and pull my sword from the ground. Finally comfortable with its weight, I twirl it in hand, raising it to my shoulder before stopping it and slipping it into its sheath.

The mask of the armored woman’s armor stares blankly at me. “...Did you see that?” I hear from her after another fuzzy buzz of static. “Primes,” she adds incredulously with a bit of a laugh and a scoff. Seems as though she’s talking to someone.

The man with the claymore seems to have grabbed for a reddish bottle... though his shaky grip makes him drop it, leaving it to shatter on the ground. He curses under his breath, only to cough and hack for a few seconds. He... doesn't look to be in the best of shape.

“Let her choose,” he says, puffing with exhaustion. “Don’t just take her.”

With a gentle cough to clear her throat, the woman removes her helmet. She shakes her head a bit, letting her shoulder-length dark hair free. “I wouldn’t do that,” she replies. “It’s her choice. Besides, don’t you think she just showed she’s not going anywhere she doesn’t want to? Quite the display,” she comments.

“Sergeant Reyers,” she notes. “Pleased to meet you.”

“Mami. Mami Tomoe,” I reply. “And who would you be?” I ask, turning to the fellow swordsman.

“Malcolm,” he replies. “Thanks for the rescue, Miss Tomoe. It means a lot. Could I, er, ask another favour?” he adds, nervously eyeing his wound. It seems he plucked the arrow from it.

“Go ahead. I’m afraid I don’t know much about first aid, but…” I shut my eyes for a moment. “If you’ll humour me for a moment, I have an idea.”

I glide over to the fallen knight and take a knee. Omnilium. With it, anything I desire can be mine… if memory serves. I form a blob of the stuff in my hand. Some kind of healing ointment. I just found what seems to be the sword in the stone - something which seems like that kind of a miracle doesn’t seem too out of reach here.

With my free hand I grip his, feeling the hardened leather on his palm and gripping it. My thumb presses against the steel plating on the back of his hand, and he grips back tightly. “I may need a moment for this,” I note, then force a smile. “Can you smile for me? Hold on, just a little longer.” I get a nervous laugh, and… I feel a presence over my shoulder.

My head turns and my eyes dart to the white-armored woman. “I don’t intend to harm you. In this state, he can’t either, if that’s what you’re concerned about. And if you have something different in mind, yourself…”

She looks to my blade. “Wasn’t planning on dying today, Prime,” she interrupts.

“Do keep an eye out. If anything happens by like that thing again, let me know and I’ll come running,” I add, then turn back to Malcolm. “You’ll be fine, I promise. Care to tell me a bit about yourself?”

Malcolm seems a bit caught off-guard by that. His visor hangs awkwardly between covering his face and hanging above his helm. With his unoccupied hand he tilts it up and scratches a bit at the raven black beard on his face. “Well… I’m a knight of Camelot, as I mentioned. Pretty new to the job, I’m afraid. I come from a little duchy to the west - Hogsmarrow,” he explains a bit hastily. “Beautiful place, but as it goes, nothing’s ever really come of the place. I wanted to change that.”

“Want,” I correct. “Unless you think you already have.” I look to the blob of Omnilium in my hand. It should be what I need soon enough.

“Right,” he agrees hesitantly. “I… joined up not too long ago. Was always pretty strong. Did a lot of heavy lifting back home, managing stock for ol’ Innie at the trader. Got suited up in this, picked up a sword and they said I was a natural.”

He laughs a bit. “Guess that did me a whole lot of good just now, huh?” I join in to comfort him, though I have to admit I’m more concerned than anything. I just… have to distract him. Just a few moments longer.

“So you’re new to all this, like me.” I raise a brow and observe, “then why did you mention the next Prime without their faculties straight, in your own words? Seems like something you lack the experience to know for yourself.”

He looks away like a child that was just caught running off with the cookie jar. “Yeah, about that…” Malcolm begins. “Don’t think I have to play tough around you, since you seem pretty nice. But we’re supposed to act confident. Like we know more than we do, even if we don’t. That sort of thing. More often than not, they put more experienced people on this post, but… from what I heard, the guy that was supposed to run this shift di--”

I feel a sudden weight in my hand once occupied with Omnilium. On my open palm sits a white rectangular box with a red cone on it - in white text on that white cone is MEDI-GEL written in squared-off font. “Hold that thought. I have something for you.”

Letting his hand go, I pop the box open and produce a red, toothpaste-like tube. Silencing himself, Malcolm sits up, then flops over on his stomach. I squirt some of the transparent reddish gel onto the wound, slip my glove off and rub at it for a few seconds. It seems to patch itself up nicely enough. I wash off my hand in the Fountain, then clear my throat.

“That aside… I understand the two of you have interest in taking me somewhere. But I’m afraid I can’t be taken anywhere. I have someone I need to go see.”

The Sergeant raises a brow. “What? If you’re looking for somebody from back home, odds are they’re not here,” she replies.

“Actually… before it turned into that,” I explain, pointing to the Fountain, “there was a voice here. It said something along the lines of… seek the Regal one.”

Silence falls for a moment. “If you mean the Doctor, I think I know who you’re talking about. Put out a request looking for Primes. He’s hoping to deal with things like what you just fought - the Dark, it’s called.”

Dark days to come indeed. “Lead me to him, then. I’m happy to help out.”

The Sergeant points past me. “He takes up residence in Coruscant. He wouldn’t be welcome, as an enemy of the state,” explains Reyers as she points to Malcolm, “but I won’t turn my gun on him as long as he stays away.”

Malcolm frowns. “So you’re heading off, then?”

“It seems that would be the case,” I reply. “When I’ve dealt with all of this, how about I come find you? Does that sound okay?”

He smiles and shrugs. “Not like I’ve got much of anyone else around.”

Reyers gestures in the direction she just pointed with her head, seeming just a bit impatient. “If you’d like me to lead the way, we’ll have to get a move on - and fast. Urgent business,” she adds in justification.

“I’m not sure how... but I’ll find you again,” I finish with a wave to Malcolm. He offers a wave back and turns his back, heading the opposite way. In the meantime, Reyers heads to what appears to be a grayish-black motorcycle floating just barely off the ground. Where it should have wheels it instead has what appears to be little jets firing off light bluish flames.

“Hop on. The ride to Coruscant shouldn’t take too long.” And so I do, settling myself on the long but narrow black bench which acts as the bike’s seat. She does the same, taking up the driver’s place, and in just a moment it bursts to absurdly high speeds.

The whole ride, I can’t help but watch behind me. Nothing really happens on the way - just some small talk here and there, occasional talk of the strange people that we pass… but my attention remains on the Fountain for most of the ride. I barely notice how far away it is as it changes multiple times during the ride…

“...Look alive. We’re passing through.”

I turn around and what has already swallowed half of the bike - a portal of some sort - goes for me and the other half of the bike next.

I feel I have more questions than I’ll ever get answers for… but I think I’m okay with that. I’ll just have to figure things out on the way. And maybe, just maybe, this Doctor Regal has a few answers, too.

  Figurative Demon vs. Literal Demon

The Judgment Hall. How deliciously ironic. It wouldn't be long before the human arrived, but the ink demon was ready. While it had been difficult to defeat Sans and Asgore without anyone noticing, Bendy was not like ordinary monsters-- if he was, then surely it would be impossible for him to be in this position. Instead of being made of love and magic, he had been made with ink and hate. It was quite unfortunate for the other monsters that dared to fight him. All he needed was the child's soul, and then he could take the other six, break the Barrier, and be hailed as the King of All Monsters as he wiped those pitiful humans off the face of the earth.

At least, he'd be king of the few monsters that had escaped the wrath of the fallen child. There weren't many, but Alphys had managed to escort some of them to an emergency safehouse underneath the castle. Boy, would she be surprised when the devil came knocking at her door to let her know that both the human and Asgore were dead and that he had broken the Barrier!

Finally, the child came around the bend and entered the warming ray of light that passed through the hall's stained glass windows. As soon as Bendy came into view, however, she stopped. While her face betrayed little emotion, he could've sworn that there was a hint of puzzlement in her eyes. "...You're not Sans," she said, her fingers curled around her knife.

"What made you think Sans would be here?" he asked, mildly confused at her reaction.

"He was here every time I came here."

"But..." Okay, this was getting strange. "This is your first time here."

"That you know of."

"What?"

"This is my first time here that you know of."

Bendy couldn't help but stare at her. What was she talking about? Something told the ink monster that he wasn't going to be figuring out this child anytime soon, though. Silence floated in the air for a few moments before he started speaking again. "I killed him. Sans is dead. Asgore is too."

Now it was the child's turn to be surprised; a look of shock broke her stoic facade for a second, then it was replaced with a smirk. "You killed Sans in one go? I'm impressed."

"You should be."
