A few hours later...
What is better than endless wandering, endless searching for one’s desires in the world, only for said endless wandering to be met with nothing less than eternal damnation of the soul, the ceaseless ravaging of the mind, and a darkness so vile and indescribable that the mere mention of it is sure to break the wills and minds of whomever may hear it?
Well, when one puts it that way, the answer would be everything.
Seemed like the answer would be obvious, right? After all, why would anyone want to go out of their way to go get themselves thrown into Nietzsche’s monster abyss when they could settle down a million miles away from the black oil of said monster abyss? Come to think of it, why is it an abyss? Wouldn’t it be more accurate to call it a mirror? A really stained, cracked, badly-in-need-of-a-thorough-scrubbing mirror?
These are the thoughts that only someone like Sans could conjure up in their minds. Only if someone was Sans-- and given that Sans is Sans, Sans would have to be Sans, unless, of course, one was also Sans-- could unfocused thoughts like these be created. Granted, it wasn’t as if these thought sprouted out from the blue either. Such shower bubble thoughts could only be made in specific circumstances.
Sans’ circumstances were very specific.
Sans rested his skeletal head against a pillow of red feathers: the silk softness of his Chocobo mount’s back. His noble steeb (It’s not a horse, so it’s no steed, and it’s not a cow, so it’s no steer. Since a Chocobo is a bird, it must be a steeb,) slept underneath him, its golden beak buried underneath its body. His steeb’s back rose and fell with each breath his sleeping steeb gave; the repetitive, soothing motions of the bird’s sleep breathing almost made him fall back asleep as they rocked him like a baby bone. Thank goodness for the generosity of ranch owners, or at least the ones in Ambrosia.
A small ray of light pierced through, however, and shined over his eyes to stop him from going back to dreamville. Groaning, he lifted a hand to wave away the brightness. Wind blew around him; leaves whistled; he could hear birds chirping above him with properly bird-like laughter. He eventually found the source of the light: a slight separation in the leaf-covered branches from the steady wind had removed the sole barrier between him and the scorching sun above the forest. In hindsight, perhaps picking an open field, with only a lone tree surrounded by flowers and grass and what might have been a small mud pond a few feet away from the tree, had not been the best of ideas he had ever had.
He didn’t know the Tangled Green could reach degrees of 120 Kelvin if the giant rainforest trees didn’t bear the bulk of the heat for the people in it. The only thing stopping him from removing his blue winter jacket to stave off the heat was a similar all-encompassing element: his own perpetual laziness.
Still, it would have been nice if the sun decided to stop being mean to him for at least a few more hours. Perhaps he just needed a drink.
The comedian felt around the ground for a few moments before realizing one of his hands still contained a bottle of ketchup. He lifted it up to his grinning face anyway, sipping what little ketchup was still inside the bottle. After one last gulp, he let the bottle drop to his side and roll away. It tapped a collection of other empty ketchup bottles and tipped them over. They scattered into the grass like squirrels hiding from wolves. He decided it would be too much effort to chase after it and stayed in his spot, hoping nobody from Ambrosia or just a weary police officer walked by to arrest him for littering.
Moments like these, where you are surrounded by perpetual doing-nothingness, is where the mind starts to wander, if only to prevent true boredom from settling in and giving you existential nightmares. As a result, Sans’ mind wandered back to his encounter with Gaster. It had only lasted about as long as it began, but it was the way it ended that gave him pause and what truly made him think about it. After a brief conversation, the crazy skeleton had given him some sort of look, like a bullet had gut-shot him and he was only just starting to feel it sink into his stomach. He didn’t get the chance to ask Gaster if he was okay before the guy rushed over towards the bathroom of the diner they were in.
Sans had waited for hours, binging off of the ketchup drinks the waitresses had been so kind to give him. Eventually, the diner started to close, and Sans was forced to figure out if Gaster was okay.
He didn’t really know what to expect going in, but finding absolutely no sign of the crazy skeleton guy in there was something he probably should have foreseen. Usually when a monster goes, if you really search, you can find some sign they were there. This usually took the form of dust, the bodily matter of a deceased monster. But this time? A solid nothing at all. He might as well have vanished into thin air.
He had walked around to meet fellow patrons either finishing their meals or otherwise so drunk they probably thought they were inside their homes and asked them if Gaster had left the bathroom. A few confused questions and stares was all it took for Sans to get the hint and just leave. That was what confused him more than anything else about what happened. Gaster had caused a bit of a commotion. There was no way people could just forget him.
Sans sighed and tried to focus on something else. Something gnawed at the back of his skull, a pressing matter he couldn’t remember yet only fed the anxiety eating away at his ribs.

Over the past few weeks, Drake could feel the life and zest of urban depravity returning to Nippur like smoke returning to the lungs of someone trying to quit cigarettes. The people had been hungry to reinstate the nightlife and jubilance of the city, which was a sign of healthy community as far as the smuggler was concerned. When the populace was more inclined to hunker down and cover their heads on a nice evening, shit was pretty backed up.
Now, as Drake slugged back his third tumbler of Blue Flame Rum, he looked around with a pleasantly warm smile. The tables in the local cantina he had come to favor were all buzzing with patrons. There seemed to be a public consensus that no one was going to acknowledge the fact that all of Nippur's greatest warriors were on vacation in Dante's Abyss, right after putting the city back together. No...that couldn't possibly be a bad sign. Maybe it would have been better if Drake had been given any sort of authority before they all left, maybe he would feel better about the situation.
But, no, the CEO never gave a shit about the IT guy. To be very, very frank, Drake was scared shitless, which was why he was now getting handsomely plastered. The Rhythmless Grill was a good place for that, since the owners, staff, and bouncers were all members of the nomadic Fremen tribe. Well, barring Kagumoo, who was a Gerudo witch at work, and also a part-time dominatrix, from what Drake understood. The Grill was decorated in the skeletal remains of various desert creatures, all lit warmly by the flickering light of smokeless oil lamps. Large decanters and bottles of deeply nefarious, darkly colored liquors lined a granite steele that had been converted into a tap shelf. The local Dunes beer, gamey and stout, was cut here with a curious, sweet compound that the Fremen simply called 'Spice'.
For more hearty fair, there were biryanis, tagines of chicken, goat casseroles, roasted nuts, eggplant and squash dishes...really anything that was salty and fatty, and readily attainable in the arid agriculture of the Dunes. Drake loved all of it. Normally the stereo system played ambient yet assertive remixes of tribal drum and pipe songs, but the smuggler Prime was in the room for a taste of home. As such, the sandstone hall was currently echoing with a very loud remix that brought out something in the Nippurian nightlife that they had never felt before. Perhaps it was also the excessive libations in their bloodstreams, or the sense of jubilant, springtime safety, but there were definitely a few people making babies up against the wall in the room tonight. Kagumoo leaned heavily on the burnished ebony bar, letting her olive colored bosoms rest conspicuously close to the tip jar.
"Another one, Drakie?" she said in her husky, dry voice. A stray curl of shock-red hair was pulled back behind her pointed ear. Drake shook his head slowly, blowing out a breath of air that was probably somewhere around thirty-five proof.
"Nah sweetheart. Wha's m'tab?" Drake sighed, pulling out a heavy purse full of Gilgamesh's face. The golden coins spilled across the counter, and upon being informed of his dues, he pushed the requisite pile over to Kagumoo, and the rest of the pile towards the tip jar. It seemed like the witch wanted to chit chat, but Drake wasn't in the mood. Being a member of his generation, he signaled this by pulling out his Dataverse device and scrolling through social media.
Nippur's new social media site, BabbelON, was motoring along nicely. The Yandere kid was doing a good job on the technical end, working alongside with Monika and the rest of SW3. Tens of thousands of Gilgamesh's subjects had signed on to the website and lovingly spilled most of their live's most intimate secretes into Drake's servers. What the hell the Royal Guard planned on doing with it, Drake didn't know, but he was at least doing his damn job. That was more than New Babylon's bourgeoisie blood-athletes could claim. He should probably call Monika and check in, but it was still before five in the morning in Coruscant. What to do...

Quote: This post is rated MATURE for a good reason. You have been warned.
✶✶✶
Bellatrix Lestrange was screaming.
Little sound was coming out; her vocal cords were torn and ripped, scarred over, then torn and ripped again. Still, her strangled cries echoed around her tiny black cell within Costa Del Sol prison. She was shackled by her wrists, her emaciated arms suspended above her as she lay slumped against the wall, her legs twitching spasticly beneath her thin medical gown.
The only other sound was the steady drip of her faucet, a faucet that the dehydrated prisoner could not reach, a faucet that dripped all day and all night.
The room was lit only by a cone of light streaming in through Bellatrix’s food slot. A shadow passed over the slot, and a man’s face appeared. The face was fat, ugly, and smiling wickedly. The man lifted his hand to show a small device with multiple buttons, waving it at Bellatrix tauntingly. Finally, he pressed one of the many buttons on the device.
Bellatrix stopped screaming, stopped writhing. She slumped against the wall, taking deep, shuddering breaths.
“How we doin in there, Miss Bella?” came the soft whisper of Bellatrix’s torturer, a charming southern voice.
Bellatrix took a few more ragged breaths, and then let out a long low moan. She spread her legs beneath her hospital gown lewdly.
“Thank you sir,” she said mockingly, a line of drool hanging from her mouth. “May I have another?”
The fat face contorted in rage. The man pressed another button.
Bellatrix’s eyes rolled back into her head, and she lost consciousness.
The faucet dripped.
✶✶✶
When Bellatrix next awoke, the first thing she noticed was her torturer’s mistake. He had left her food slot partially open, and a tiny beam of fluorescent light was streaming through, and where there was light, there was shadow.
There was a hiss is Bellatrix’s head as the shadows started to whisper.
The deranged witch let out a bark of laughter, her shackles rattling.
“H-Hey baby,” she slurred through a mouth full of broken teeth. “You come back for mummy?”
The shadows stirred, and then a dementor was floating silently above her
Bellatrix grinned, and bloody drool dripped down her cheek onto her medical gown in time with the sink.
A thin white mist began to escape Bellatrix’s mouth.
“Good boy,” whispered the witch, her heavily lidded eyes closing. “You’ve always known just how to hurt me.”
The Dementor stalked closer, lowering it’s hood.
Bellatrix spread her legs beneath her hospital gown and groaned, the silvery mist now escaping from her mouth like a faucet, creating a line leading back to the Dementors mouth.
“Good boy,” repeated Bellatrix as her soul escaped. The dementor was crouched down, kneeling between her legs.
“Give mummy a kiss.”
The Dementor obliged, performing the darkest act known to wizard kind, and eating the soul of Bellatrix Lestrange.
Yet another, darker hunger had awoken within the monster.
Even as the Dementor ripped Bellatrix’s soul from her body, it left something as well.
A seed.
✶✶✶
This seed would take just one month to grow, where most seeds of its kind would take nine months.
As for the host...
Nobody was surprised when Bellatrix Lestrange went comatose. Completely unresponsive to any outside stimuli, even pain. She would just sit, her stomach swelling each day, repeating the same word in a flat, childish sing-song voice.
“Delila, Delila. Delila, Delila. Delila, Delila. Delila, Delila.”
✶✶✶
Bellatrix Lestrange died giving birth to a black-eyed child mute child who was otherwise very healthy. The hospital staff at the prison wrote down her name as Delila Lestrange, as it seemed to be her mother’s last wish. The baby was transported to a orphanage in Costa Del Sol, where she stayed for nearly two months.
In those two months, Delila grew to the size of a young child of about seven years. The black haired, black eyed mute girl did not make any friends. She did not smile, nor cry, nor eat, nor sleep. She did not play with the other children, and at any rate the other children would not play with her. The employees of the orphanage had very much lost hope of finding a home for the strange child.
Then one day a man in a black cloak with a scarred face had shown up. He said he was the girl’s grandfather, though he had no identification to prove it. The staff of the orphanage were not concerned with such things as petty as paperwork, not when it meant they could get Delila off their hands.
Delila left that day with the man in the black cloak, holding his hand, walking towards the gate to the Nexus.

Character Name: Beta Ray Bill
Character Source: Marvel Comics
Character History: Born on the planet of Korban set in the Burning Galaxy Beta Ray Bill was a proud warrior among his species the Korbanites. To despair however their part of the galaxy was destroyed by the fire demon known as Surtur, in one of his conquests after Asgard. In response the to the destruction of their home the Korbinites left the Burning in a massive fleet but not without making a guardian to protect them during their travels for a new home.
Bill went through numerous challenges, augmentations, and tests turning him into a cyborg. During the fleet's arrival of the Milky Way galaxy, Earth’s organization known as Shield detected it via satellite, in response Director of Shield Nick Fury tasked the demigod, Thor, to investigate. Upon arrival of Bill’s ship Scuttlebutt in amass confusion, they battled. During the fight, Thor somehow lost possession of his hammer Mjolnir allowing Bill a chance to left it making him the first being beside Thor and Odin to lift the hammer. With Thor’s hammer Beta Ray Bill instantly gained the powers of Thor himself and as well as a similar costume design.
Witnessing the set of events Odin transferred Thor and Bill back to Asgard and set forth a test to see the combatants in a fair fight. Battling to the death in the real known as Skarthiem both Thor and Bill fought until exhaustion. Due to Bill’s physiology, he recovered before Thor did. Refusing to kill his downed opponent Bill passed Odin’s test. Thereafter Odin created a new hammer dubbed Stormbreaker which also contained the power of Mjolnir. Becoming friends with the prince of Asgard Bill, Thor, and the warrior Sif returned to the Korban fleet to fight off Surtur’s army, saving the Korbinites.
In later Adventures, Bill went off to fight the world eater Galactus in an effort to save his people’s new home. During the large battle with the omnipotent being, Bill was eventually defeated and from there Omni took him.

Stormbreaker (600 OM)-
Three feet long, one and a half long from the head it was created the same way as Thor’s hammer Mjolnir. The hammer is gold in design with a form of an ax blade on the opposite side of it. The hilt has intricate carvings that swirl to the pommel. In combat, Bill uses his hammer to crush, smash, smack, and bash opponents controlling electricity into each hit. Though Bill does possess the powers Thor, swinging the hammer relatively still tires him. Outside of combat Beta Ray can smash open objects and bash open doors. In addition to combat, only the worthy and Bill himself can lift Stormbreaker. The hammer can also be thrown at enemies and return back into Bill’s hands. In doing so it takes a moment for the hammer to return when thrown. When throw Beta Ray can roughly throw the hammer at speeds of 100 mph. (Speeds that a professional baseball player can pitch.)

For those of you who are unaware, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different.
I may be replacing the Purple Ribbon category with a different bonus category every Month. Let me know what you think about that.
You have until July 10th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. An exception to this is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.
If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.
The winners will become this month's "Community Stars". And what benefits does this bring? Here is an explanation, courtesy of Alex:
(07-26-2016, 11:34 AM)Alex Wrote: As part of being voted as a Community Star/User of the Month (I use the terms interchangeable mainly because Community Star is less formal-sounding than User of the Month), these members gain a color (you must select this in your User CP) and access to the Omni-World R&D forum. In the past this was my pseudo-private forum, but it's now a place for myself and others to discuss the Omniverse. This is also the meeting place/brainstorming area for the Storyteller Department, as well as the rest of the staff, so you can feel free to participate or share your thoughts. If the forum doesn't appear for you, you'll have to send Alex a PM.
Forum access is for the month following a member's selection as a Community Star, and this is irregardless of which 'accolade' you were selected for.
And the categories are:
‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most?
‘Best’ Writer – Which writer wowed you the most?
Most Helpful – A staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some of your problems.
Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop? (must have joined within the last month and a half OR have less than 8000 OM; alts do not count)
'Best' Story – What story did you find most riveting/entertaining? DA does not apply.
'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them.
Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse. (The winner must be a DIFFERENT person than the last winner; the May winner was Handsome Jack)
”Best” Team Player - In light of the competition, one of the most valued players are the gracious winners and losers. Who has had the best spirit? Please do not list/mention people who were sore winners/losers. We are here to celebrate pleasant behaviors, not to scream at angry ones.

( The following is flashback before entrance to the omniverse)
Setsu followed, at distance, an uncanny beast. Though the terrain was that of an island small enough that the reasonable thought would be that it was only be inhabited by Setsu and the birds. Still, he trailed, silently, the eerie form stalking through the woodsy valley that the rocky island sheltered. How many nights had sleep run cover for this beast's existence? How many times had Setsu's instincts failed to warn him of it's presence? The questions had begun to stack.
So far, the beast appeared not to be aware of his presence in the trees. How terrifying it was. Clearly a giant feline, the size of a lion or greater. However, it's borders were fuzzy. Like it's appearance denied clear description. And oh, a cave. There had been no cave here, Setsu was sure. And yet this walking mystery entered like it was coming home after a long day.
Setsu hung his feet from his hidden tree perch. What was he witnessing? Was he in danger? He didn't have a tremendous amount of daylight left. Leaving the island by ship now wasn't the option it might have been this morning. Having no anchor was tragic in such circumstances where sleeping aboard may have been a lifesaver.
The list of viable options was so short as to be of real concern. Sitting at the top of this list, as it had been since the first sighting, was of course, "Kill the beast." This might have been possible for Setsu the formidable leader of the Shiseijyu, but he was all but retired from his fighting days and surely shellshocked from his post-brain-wash awakening. In addition his ability to use and mold chakra was damaged in ways he had yet to even fully investigate, though he knew for certain he could not use elemental chakra natures as he had, at all. As well as his clan techniques. Leaving him with little to rely upon.
Faced with this seemingly spiritual and yet decidedly existential threat, it was clear that full investigation of his capabilities would have to be forgone in pursuing viable action. To survive. He would have to eliminate the threat.
He waited till night fell and entered the cave. He had ditched the majority of his conventional weaponry and so really only had one technique that could do the job. That being Oniyuri.
As soon as he entered the cave it was clear there was no turning back, and not just because of the nature of the task. The entrance, now the exit, was gone. In the pure black of what had appeared to be a mundane cave of stone, Setsu stood up straight now knowing full well that this was no longer the situation he had thought he was in. He spied a speck of light and as he saw it grew and appeared to be approaching. So fast it grew that Setsu instinctively turned and began to run until it reached and engulfed him.
- -
“My name is Omni. This is not the world you know. This is the Omniverse. You interest me, so I have made you part of it. The Omniverse is a place that reflects the wishes of those who are part of it. But! There are rules. I will explain them only once, so listen carefully.”
Omni hands you a glimmering orb in which all the colors of the rainbow coalesce. “This is Omnilium. It’s what ties the Omniverse together. Without it, you are nothing. With it, anything you desire can be yours. But you will need more than this. If you desire it enough, you will find it. You will find that using it comes naturally. Just think of what you desire most.
“You will not be alone in the Omniverse. There are others. Of course, they, too desire Omnilium. Do not fear death. For as long as you interest me, you will be reborn.
“That’s all you need to know right now. You’ll figure out the rest soon enough. I’ll be watching … and waiting.”
- -
With that, Setsu was left standing in an absolutely foreign environment holding something absolutely foreign that held the promise of so much. And maybe more interesting, to Setsu, this mentioning of rebirth. This wasn't what he'd envisioned, but he was on that island seeking something like a rebirth or renewal. Still, he was shocked by everything his senses offered. What's this mean?
