June Monthly Accolades - The Vision - 07-03-2018
For those of you who are unaware, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different.
I may be replacing the Purple Ribbon category with a different bonus category every Month. Let me know what you think about that.
You have until July 10th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. An exception to this is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.
If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.
The winners will become this month's "Community Stars". And what benefits does this bring? Here is an explanation, courtesy of Alex:

'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them.
Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse. (The winner must be a DIFFERENT person than the last winner; the May winner was Handsome Jack)
”Best” Team Player - In light of the competition, one of the most valued players are the gracious winners and losers. Who has had the best spirit? Please do not list/mention people who were sore winners/losers. We are here to celebrate pleasant behaviors, not to scream at angry ones.

‘Best’ Character – Mickey Mouse - Could've gone to Kenpachi or Gilgamesh, too. Loved how you were able to weave your history with Gilgamesh and NB into the fight thread, which definitely made it more interesting read.
‘Best’ Writer – Mark - Could've gone to a few others as well, but I'm admittedly a bit biased. Pretty amazing how quickly he adjusted to a new character, and how little rust he displayed in the first round of DA; I envy you.

‘Best’ Character – Gonna give it to Miiiickey. He rolled into a character dynamic that he wasn't ACTUALLY THERE FOR with such clarity and ease, and made the dynamic between him an Gil so great. Wyatt obvious also deserves massive props here. It's a toss up, but I'd hand it to Mick for rolling into the territory without having been there to establish things in the first place.

‘Best’ Character – As usually, Weiss's constant vergence between the depths of depression and apex of idealism has me enchanted.
‘Best’ Writer – Bandit/Thaal's attention to detail, pacing and characterization, all wrapped up in perfect structure deserves merit. Reading his posts is like eating the perfect sandwich.
Rising Star – Talos Quinn takes this by a complete landslide. No contest. Have you even read their stuff? Go read their stuff.
'Best' Story – Luci's various Westside threads do a great service to the entire canon of the Omniverse as a whole. New Babylon may have lofty ambition, and Amaterasu will reshape the canon of Primes, but Luci brings out the soul of the OV with her Westside, specifically, Tales.
Purple Ribbon - Alex must be given this award annually for his operation of DA. There is no alternative.
”Best” Team Player - If we're voting on this by sheer lack of salt, I'd say the winner is...
Jack Darby. The guy is straight up tenacious, and no matter how much shit he takes OOC or IC, he always comes back and buckles down. It's time he got credit for that.

This was hard, y’all. Summer is such a special time here and this is such a special time for me being back freshly and I’m feeling some type of way about all of you. What a nice, talented crop of people we have.
‘Best’ Character – Gonna have to give this to Yuuka Kazami. Very close race between Yuuka, Gilgamesh, Bandit, and Kerrigan, but at the end of the day the winning factors were just how intrigued I was by this character’s endgame combined with the fact that I admittedly didn’t really know their stuff before. She’s delightfully morbid to read and is putting out some lowkey great stuff in DA.
‘Best’ Writer – Whirda. The way he and Yuuka (also on my short list for this) weaves a comedic tale with characters who don’t necessarily lend themselves to comedy, and in fact are the antithesis of it, in at least one case, is awesome. Also very impressed by Gilgamesh, Luci, Kerrigan, Eternity, Trixie, and so many more this month. Everyone is fucking epic.
Most Helpful – Luci. Whether on the bonuses, helping out in general, or in doing good work to flesh out the verses AND include newer characters in her work, Luci’s grabbed my attention as a staff member who is really working to make the community a better place and she’s been on top of it.
Rising Star – Talos Quinn. The little stuff of this guy’s I’ve gotten to read so far has been really solid. Tyson’s up here as well if only for trying so hard to really engage with stuff.
'Best' Story – Panic at the Disco (Trixie and 17)
I’ve said this before in the chat but if you aren’t following the Trixie/17 drama Joe and Alex are writing up, you’re missing out on (maybe) the best ongoing storyline in the entire Omniverse. I’d feel bad voting for them every month even though it can be argued they deserve it, so for now it’ll suffice to recognize this great climax point. Led by Joe’s incredible portrayal of Trixie, he and Alex make this the most tightly written engaging thriller threads I’ve read in a WHILE.
'Best' NPC – Gonna abstain from this one for now.
Purple Ribbon - Wyatt (Gilgamesh/Atelos/The Hunter). Got qualities of literally every single accolade above mixed into him — a helpful staff member with several engaging characters, all written well, with NPCs (Junior!) and stories that are epic. Lowkey shout out to Daniel also.
”Best” Team Player - Sarah Kerrigan. Just one of my truly fave people and it’s because they are such a positive presence, never getting into any unsavory business in the chats or anything and always there with an interesting conversation or comforting word. Stellar person, shout outs also to Ricter and Eternity Larva in this category.

‘Best’ Character – Mickey Mouse Man, this was really hard to decide. I was caught between voting for Mickey or voting for Gilgamesh. I'll have to give props to Mickey for this one because I'm loving the conflict that was set up between his and Gil's fight, and like Thaal mentioned above, Mickey wasn't even hear to set up that conflict originally. Props to ya Mick
‘Best’ Writer – Gilgamesh See, y'all knew I'd vote Gil somewhere in here! While Goldie was still really interesting as a character, I have to say that I was more blown away by how emotional Wyatt made me feel while reading his posts in his DA fight. I absolutely loved the dialog and I loved just how much he got me to empathize with Gil's plight. Also that demon form was bad ass.
Most Helpful – Civic He's been punching all these joining apps in the face man. Props to him for that, I know they can be tedious or confusing at times.
Purple Ribbon - Alex As Kopaka said, Alex must get this award annually for running DA.
”Best” Team Player - Desman Black Honestly guys, he's been just rolling with all the horrible obnoxious crazy shit people've been throwing at him recently, especially with that nasty beat down Victor gave him in the Spectator thread at the end of last round. ALSO DESMAN, you better take this in an interesting direction.

Best Character - Violet for all her adapting to a partner that easily reminds her of her long tenure in the Underverse and continuing to be a compelling story despite all the curveballs that come our way.
Most Helpful - Civic has made sure no one's had to wait to join the action. New members are so important, and he's gotten them through the beginning steps quickly, but with thorough venting. Great work!
Purple Ribbon - Mickey Mouse has been a breath of fresh air amongst the self promotion that tends to dominate this site's discussions. He's very plugged in, gives lots of underrated people credit where due, and is a top tier writer on top of all that. A very positive personality that is a great example for the site as a whole.
”Best” Team Player - Desman Black is a trooper like always. Got thrown into a huge match that had years of story building come to a head, and just rolled with the punches. Add that to just a good demeanor around DA discussions, and he's just good people during a very competitive time of year.

Best Character/Writer -- I try and abstain from this during DA.
Best Story -- Panic at the Disco (Android 17 and Trixie) -- completely and utterly biased, but I really think that these stories are pretty solid. I think it's some of the better stuff I've churned out lately, at least.
Best NPC -- The Rock, because c'mon... you know you love the People's strudel.
Rising Star -- Talos Quinn, I went and read the stuff for all the other people mentioned here, and I really enjoyed this (plus the character makes me chuckle)
Purple Ribbon -- Joe, for keeping the bulkheads secure and helping to keep me sane, even if he has his own shit to deal with.
Team Player -- Mickey Mouse (the runner up is Wyatt). These two are literally the nicest, least combative and friendliest people I've met in the history of this website. More than willing to give you the skin off their back. If you piss off either of them, it's YOUR fault and YOU should be ashamed of yourself.

‘Best’ Character – Deadpool. I've never really experienced his full glory before, but wow it was perfect. I wish Ryan Reynolds voice wasn't in my head for the dialogue, but beyond that he's an absolute treasure.

Like I said above, I am considering making the Purple Ribbon category the "For-Fun-Bonus Category" that I sometimes do... so if I did it this month, the last category would be "Purple Ribbon: "Best" Team Player". Let me know what you think.
Voting will last until July 17th. You may vote even if you hadn't made any nominations. If you have and a nominee you put forth is in the run-offs, you don't have to cast your vote for that specific category (unless you wish to cast your vote for the opponent instead); your nomination will automatically count as a vote for the nominee.
In cases where a member rather than a specific character wins a category, the winner can (if they so desire) post in the Accolades thread which account should get the colour. That way, those members who already have a nifty colour for their master account have the option to display their well-earned pink colour with a different account.
