  The Perfect Location
Posted by: James Knight - 07-16-2017, 10:58 PM - Forum: The Ashen Steppes - Replies (3)

Sick was one word to describe how Veritas was currently feeling. He had gotten sick of Coruscant and so had left that world behind. Hours later, namely about six hours later or so he was mid way through the Ashen Steppes. While the volcanic nature of the verse was not to his liking it did provide something that the other verses wouldn't provide him. Namely it provided complete and total access of a Free Variety to Geothermal Energy when he should build himself a base here. In other words, the base was going to have plenty of the way of a power supply. Of course equipping it with anything essential such as defenses, or anything like that was going to be the hard part. In addition he also had to figure out what sort of supplies he'd use in the construction of the base. Summoning up a Tablet instead of his usual Samuraizer to access the Dataverse he began to do some research on the materials Primes built their bases out of. When all it said was that they built their bases out of Omnilium, he resisted the urge to face palm after the hour he had spent on the search. Clearly he was not going to get any work done unless he did it himself. Since there was no useful information, he supposed he could improvise even though he wasn't sure what he wanted his base to look like even. Omni had said that you could create anything, so long as you had enough of the substance known as Omnilium. He wasn't sure if he had enough of the substance to be honest. Creating a place like he wanted was going to be a difficult task to say the least.

A flying base was out of the question,  no matter how much he wanted it. There were too many things that could go wrong with a base that was located in the air. For one thing he could be pushed out of it should someone manage to teleport in. Another was that it would be vulnerable to attacks from the air. So this ruled out creating a replica of the Animarium or Terra Venture for himself in any fashion. Neither would fit the purposes he had planned for the base. Given that the area was one that was filled with Volcanoes, and Lava he couldn't use the Aqua Base of the Light Speed Rescue Team either. There was little to no water in this verse, and the heat was stifling. Summoning up a bottle of water which took another three minutes, he'd gulp it down and begin to think of his predicament.

"No. The Aquabase won't do at all. For one, there is no water here. For two it would be too complicated. Another problem is that I have no idea what energy source they used to power the place. So, I'm out of luck there. The Shiba House? No. I'm not skilled enough with Symbol Power in order to create the base I imagine for myself. What kind of base should I have?"

What did he need? A roof over his head that was more than a shack. Preferably one that was defensible from all sides, so he wouldn't have to worry about a tiny but easily accessible weak point any future enemies could crawl through in order to remove his head from his body. A morbid thought, but given the battles some of the Rangers had fought, he was not willing to underestimate them. His time on Coruscant had done him no favors and he felt...weaker. Trying to summon the Shark Sabers he noticed them fail to materialize. Another try was made by him and still another, but the blades didn't come.

"Well isn't that just grand?" asked Veritas. "Just when I think things couldn't get any worse.....oh dear."  He'd try to do Dark Magic Blast Ball and nothing would happen. An attempt was made by him to summon the SPD Blaster. It's results were similar in that the opposite of what he wanted happened, in that it didn't materialize for him to use. Creating his perfect HQ was going to be an effort of immense patience and concentration because he didn't even know what it should look like. Sure the substance that Omni had given him could create anything, but one must first know what they wanted it to create in order to do so with it. As it was, he had no idea what his base should look like. What was the perfect location for the base he was going to build? Underground? Well that did have it's advantages he supposed though he'd have to make it accessible and thus probably able to be assaulted from the surface.

When it says that "Items go under Consumed OM" does this apply to when you resell items such as a Vita Compass, or do you take that out of the spent OM, or how does such work?

  The Ashen Fortress II
Posted by: Kuzuru - 07-16-2017, 10:03 PM - Forum: The Ashen Steppes - Replies (1)

Charcoal colored clouds hung heavy in the red sky. On the horizon rows of black teeth scratched at the sky, the silhouettes of mountain ranges. Underfoot the ground trembled and shuddered as several thousand tons of rock shifted to the whims of seismic forces. Twisted vines of bramblebush clawed at the scorched earth trying to gather every last scrap of nutrients. Towering crags of basalt dotted the landscape, offering a jagged obstacle for those that dared to pass. Veins of lava traced snakes of fire up into the hearts of mountains. Burning sulfur assaulted nostrils while razor sharp pyroclastic particles shredded lungs.

Kuzuru smiled. He was home. While Coruscant was alright, the Steppes were everything that the demon hoped for in a verse. Inhospitable to all, except the most hardened of creatures, it was a world built upon the core premise of natural selection. The strong would survive while the weak would be trampled underneath.

After admiring the scenery for a few minutes Kuzuru set to work resummoning his motorcycle. This time he created a sort of off-road bike with big knobby tires, something that could traverse the ashen wasteland with relative ease. He also summoned a pair of steampunk-inspired goggles and a respirator. Once geared up he sat on his bike and kick-started the thing. It grumbled and roared as the engine cycled up. With a kicked-up cloud of dust behind him he roared into the heart of the Steppes.

Several hours of travel carried him to a far-off corner of the Ashen Steppes. Towering mountains and volcanoes formed an impenetrable wall of stone and lava. He approached the mountain range and began to ride parallel to it. Every now and again he’d glance up at the stone behemoths, keeping track of just how many he had passed. After about another hour of riding he came to a halt. His bike sputtered and rattled, the trip had been hard for the gas-guzzling contraption. Kuzuru dismounted the motorcycle and began the process of deconstructing it into particles of omnilium. Once the machine was consumed he turned back towards the mountains.

From a distance it would have been damn near impossible to spot, but up close one could make out a serpentine pathway carved into the side of one mountain. As Kuzuru followed this path he looked out across the Ashen Steppes towards the remains of Death Mountain. Once home to the strongest creature in the Steppes it was now little more than a sundered caldera. He smiled and kept walking. At the top of the stairway he came to a solid wall of stone. Emblazoned into the center of the wall was the familiar sigil of The Ashen Blades. The demon pressed his palm against the symbol. Hidden machinations groaned and whirred as the stone slab moved to the side and revealed a hallway into the mountain’s core. As he walked through the door sealed behind him.

“Ah,” he said, “home sweet home, nothin’ in the world like it.”

Around him the narrow halls gave way to a large atrium complete with a vaulted ceiling. This atrium served as a common area for the various members of the Blades. He stepped past the pool table and entered the kitchen area. It was a small open-air style kitchen that you could see from the rest of the common area. He opened the fridge and frowned, still empty.

“Cinder!” he shouted, but there was no reply, “Dawn!? Charles, Mallory?!”

Nothing.

Oh well, the demon figured he needed some alone time anyways. He moved over to the couch and collapsed onto it. Kuzuru grabbed the remote off the nearby coffee stand and tuned into the Omniverse News Network. For a few hours he laid sprawled out across the couch, half asleep, watching the news. Just as he was on the cusp of dreamland a picture of his mug flashed across the screen. It was the daily rundown of recent heads added to the bounty board.

“This is going to get old,” he said and shut off the T.V, “real fucking old.”

Sad Omni take me now
Posted by: Harry Potter - 07-16-2017, 04:28 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (3)

I am asking that Harry Potter be sent wherever dead primes go.

I simply do not have the time or dedication to write the story that Harry Potter deserves in the Omniverse. Although I'm tempted to let him lapse in limbo until I decide to write with him again, I feel that the arguably most iconic protagonist in modern times should not sit on a shelf in the Omniverse, especially when he is clearly a 'second-account' to Luci.

An IC explanation?

***
Omni tells all Primes that as long as they continue to interest him, they will be reincarnated.

Since his entrance in the Omniverse, Harry Potter has spent his time surfing with wookies and getting high with pokemon. He learned nothing, and ended up getting his head blown off in a meaningless competition.

Omni did not consider him interesting enough to reincarnate.

Sometimes folks don't read the Updates topic, so I thought I'd put a thing here.

There's been a few instances lately of a somewhat entitled attitude when it comes to requesting updates from staff. As usual the vast majority of the site, this does not apply to.

Staff are just members with advanced permissions. We don't get paid for our work (we get donations, but most of that goes to server costs and upgrades, and it's hardly an hourly rate). There's a reason this site is structured with self-editable rosters, and purchase logs that don't require manual staff updates for everything - it's to make it so that members can do as much as we can. Even simple things like setting up your new roster yourself when you switch characters is something you can do, if you're keen. It's a tiny thing when you only have to do one, but when you have to do a bunch, it quickly becomes a bigger job.

Simple math: when ten people handle a bigger job, it becomes no big deal.

If you wanna make suggestions, like for example: "This thread sticky is out of date, please update it." Please consider submitting that work yourself. Or even compiling a list of relevant information so a staffer can use that to update it! That's just an example.

What I'm getting at, is that we're a community-run website, and we expect members to give as well as take. I think most of us get that, but it bears repeating from time to time. There's a reason the #1 rule is "Don't be a diva". This ain't Starbucks, the customer ain't always right - this is a family-run farm, and if we don't work, we don't eat.

While I'm here, thank you to those of you that do help out, staffer or otherwise. You're my silent heroes. <3

  Recognition Coruscant
Posted by: Trixie - 07-16-2017, 02:55 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (6)

I'd like to request recognition in Coruscant based on the following evidence:

-It's where I've posted since Day 1 of joining the site
-I took down Cell, a PC Prime, who was attacking the Nexus gate into Coruscant.
-I've completed Hand of Empire
-I've established lore for several Imperial Military units and have been working underneath Imperial Command.
-Have briefly met Dredd and Bradley. They both know at least my name. Bradley knows I was in the Underverse if anything else.
-I've written Trixie as an obedient soldier. She just killed an established rebel I had made from 2015.

I didn't think I could post this in the Bonus/Request area so I just made a thread. Just curious if I qualify.

  Out and About
Posted by: The Future Warrior - 07-16-2017, 10:21 AM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

Slowly, she blinked her eyes, squinting at the glare of bright white. "Ugh..." Right, the Nexus was an awful place. Just empty with lots of bright, white light coming from nowhere and everywhere. There were worse places to end up (the Time Rift came to mind), but this place was...preeeetty awful. Luckily she wasn't planning on staying long.

She hopped up to her feet, not even stopping to think about how she'd ended up sprawled on the ground (or how long she'd been there, for that matter) and did a quick stretch. Everything was still sore from the events of Dante's Abyss, and she was still more than a little exhausted, but it was all behind her for now. It was over, and on top of all that, she'd won. Somehow. She was pretty sure there was supposed to be some sort of prize for that, but...

As if on cue, a notification flashed on the lens of her scouter, alerting her to a new message. With a trace of surprise, she opened it up and was caught completely off-guard when she noticed who the sender was. Quickly, she read the message over. Once, then again, and a third time. "Whoa. That's awesome." So there was a prize! She'd kind of left in a hurry and not gotten it in person, but it looked like Karl Jak had thought ahead. It was waiting for her in a lockbox, in Coruscant. She was planning to head home anyway, so that actually worked out pretty nicely!

She shut down the message and dataverse access to clear her vision, and took a deep breath, her eyes closing and head tilting back. Just one thing to do.

For a long time, she just stood there, focusing. Narrowing her thoughts and mind down to a specific point. Gathering up her energy and working toward something she'd been missing ever since she'd arrived here. With Omnilium, anything you desire can be yours. She was pretty sure she had enough now...

Minutes later, she was on her way, back in flight as she went. And it felt good to be back in the air again; back in her element. It wasn't much faster than if she just stuck to the ground and ran, and it wasn't any less taxing on her — if anything, it was a lot more tiring than it would've probably been to just run the same distance. But it felt good, to be able to do something so simple, after not being able to do it for so long.

Upside down, with her back toward the ground, and eyes on the gate to Coruscant in the distance, she streaked across the Nexus just as fast as she could go.
