Anon Message to New Babylon
Posted by: Jak Mar - 03-25-2018, 08:05 PM - Forum: Dataverse Messageboards - No Replies

...

Whoever receives this, knows who I am.

My anger over a small issue had gone unchecked and my pal knew of my untimely disappearance only to barely come off with his life.

However, I'd like to arrange a meeting with whomever is in charge to discuss my apology terms.

  Wanted: The Misery of XX_YANDERE_LO♥ER_XX
Posted by: James Knight - 03-25-2018, 08:01 PM - Forum: Dataverse Messageboards - No Replies

"My name is Warren Zimmer. For those who are viewing this message, I am officially putting a 300 OM Bounty on the suffering, and misery, and execution of a certain Prime. For his numerous crimes against me,  and decency, I believe it to be a suitable action. Those crimes are listed below, for anyone who wishes to see them.

 • Unlawful Intrusion on Property
 • Unlawful Eviction from Property
 • Squatting
 • Murder
 • Assault
 • Battery
 • Harassment
 • Making a Nuisance out of himself
 • Destroying Personal Property
 • Destroying Private Property
 • Unlawful Occupation of my base.
 • Malicious Slander
 • Slander
 • Attempted Murder
 • Attempted Murder with a Weapon
Now as you can see from the list of crimes that he has committed,  I have decided to off source to someone else who would be more skilled at making the individual suffer. Plus there is the fact that he does have Dark Hecate on his side, if it came down to a fight. As a result of this, payment will not be given until he is dealt with. I would prefer to leave banishment off the table, but if you wish to employ it against him, I will not hold it against whoever decides to deal with him, and subsequently evict him from my home that he is illegally occupying. If you wish to contact me about specifics, please direct message me, as I have disabled replies to this message.

  Fluff Alternate Form
Posted by: Kaleigh Dactomb Nox - 03-24-2018, 02:10 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (3)

Two questions:

First:

Quote:Q37: My character fights in a power suit. If I want them to get out of the suit and walk around outside of fights, does that require an alternate form?
A: No, within reason. The same could be said for many powered-down forms. You can choose to restrict your stats and powers for roleplaying reasons such as your character being in a weakened state, or not actually wanting to have all 10 stat points to start (say you are a weaker character who starts with 5 stat points and gradually trains to reach their full 10 stats. This is okay, but you still have to choose your final base stats when joining). However this is for roleplaying fodder only, and not for a gameplay advantage (for example, saying that your character is smaller in their weaker form, and using that as logic for being able to escape a larger character - this would not be okay).

Is the opposite of this also true? Could I, for example, stay in a normal form most of the time, including during fights, but also change into a ‘powered up’ form basically at will?

To clarify, I want a base form that has the normal base stats, has a normal moveset, follow all the rules for a normal character, etc. But, for purely roleplay reasons, I want to have a second form that I exclusively use certain additional moves and power-ups with. These abilities would all be approved and technically usable by the base form, and the ‘powered up form’ would have no benefits from the form itself. The only difference gameplay wise would be a vastly different appearance and attitude, with some kind of clause that prevents it from being used as a disguise or alter ego.

Is this alright?

Second, assuming the above is ok (I’m pretty confident it is, based on the Q&A), would it be alright to write this as a fluff alternate form? In other words, a 0 cost alternate form with none of the benefits that usually come with an alternate form.

To clarify, no stats would change or increase, there is no change in size and no extra benefit will be gained from any moves that require the alternate move to use (In other words, restricting moves to the alternate form will be fluff only and not actually a disadvantage to balance the move).

This is entirely for ease of understanding of anyone reading my roster. For roleplay reasons, I’d like certain abilities to be restricted to this alternate form and for there to be a distinct difference in appearance and attitude between the two forms. It seems like it would be much simpler to write this change as an alternate form, and then mention in the move description all of the moves that are only used in this form.

This came up because I had planned on taking a tier 1 power-up that drastically changed the appearance of the character. However, I wanted the appearance change to persist after the power up ran its course, and continue to stay in effect until I felt it was appropriate to end it. After several discussions, and the realization that I didn’t necessarily want the transformation tied to a power-up, I came to the conclusion that an alternate form was the easiest way to describe it. I could be wrong, and if there is an easier/free way to accomplish this same effect I am open to suggestions.

When There is No More Room in Hell
Posted by: Gilgamesh - 03-24-2018, 12:53 PM - Forum: The Void - No Replies

Gilgamesh’s seething rage momentarily dissipated as he was suddenly dropped. His heart lurched at the sudden change, though his momentum didn’t carry long. The dark hellscape had quickly changed to a land of grey and black with no defining features. His body slowly floated upwards before softly bumping into a formless ceiling. The chill of this Void was enough for his heavy breathing to emit steam.

“Two GOD DAMN years!” He slammed his fist into the ceiling, letting him bounce up and down like a buoy. How could this much time have slipped by his fingers? The Golden King brought his hand up to rub the bridge of his nose. Oh how he will enjoy murdering the ‘Proto-Mouse’ over and over again. Gil vowed that their fate will be worse than any suffering he had endured here. Furrowing his brow he gently pushed off the ceiling, letting him settle nicely in the middle of this empty space. Seeing as he couldn’t walk, Gilgamesh began to swim aimlessly, looking for any sign of...well anything.

His boiling rage quite literally warmed him as he traveled through the expanse. A shudder went down his spine as he thought of his new master, Diablo. The demon’s power here was more impressive than he could ever hope to imagine, even in his prime. How effortlessly the demon was able to obliterate Gilgamesh and stitch him back together, it seemed like some sort of excellent illusion magic. However, Gilgamesh knew that it wasn’t even an ounce Diablo’s real power. His hand dropped to his left breast, still tender from his new mark. And now he had a fraction of it as well. The thought of being a lesser to a hellspawn was enough to make him scream out in rage, but trading it for the ability to demolish his enemies with ease made it tolerable.

Continuing to swim into the expanse, Gilgamesh continued in a straight line, or what he thought was a straight line. With time, even up and down became relative and indistinguishable. Over time his undying rage had died down a bit and left over a more bitter residue. Out of the corner of his eye, he was able to catch a black blob moving quite quickly. He turned his head to see a giant eyeball with wings and tentacle like appendages. The creature turned to make eye contact with Gilgamesh, it’s giant eyeball lethargically blinking. The small monster slowly flew towards Gilgamesh, but passed him entirely. Gil’s eyes followed the monster, the small creature’s attention was not fixed upon the intruder but the ceiling and walls. It paused for a moment, inspecting the seemingly featureless environment before heading off.

The Golden King swam over to inspect the same wall. What in the world was this creature looking at? This place has no landmarks. For the first time he noticed small white lines that seemed to diverge and point into every direction. Realizing what the creature was doing, Gil looked around to find where the little bastard had gone. He could have sworn the creature was right behind him. He took a pause and turned back to see the creature flying to his left. He had a puzzled look on his face and blinked in disbelief at how that could of worked. Gil shook his head for a minute before suspending disbelief and tried to follow the creature off into the distance.

Struggling to catch up, Gilgamesh was completely out of breath as he trailed the monster. Luckily, the creature had just stopped to inspect the leyline, allowing for him to slowly catch up to it. Using the wall as a makeshift ladder, he slowly pressed his hands against the wall to push himself to the floor. He let out a sigh of relief and wiped a bead of sweat the was beginning to collect on his brow. The void did not make it easy to travel. Seeing as the little creature was beginning to fly off into the distance, Gilgamesh continued to trail the creature.

Bored out of his mind and not interested enough to inspect the leyline, Gilgamesh began to converse with the creature. “You shall now be known as the fearsome Baal.” Gil cracked a smile at his own joke. “Have you always lived your life in this limbo, creature?" Baal made no effort in communicating with the King, not even giving him the pleasure of acknowledging his presence.

“Tch. If you were anything more than an insect I would destroy you for your uncivil behavior”. Baal responded by turning a corner, however as Gilgamesh continued to follow him, the little monster was gone. Panicked and completely lost, Gil looked around desperate to find his guide. Baal, somehow, was behind him turning back towards the direction they just came from.

“We are losing time you insufferable beast! You must take me to the Omniverse, Now!” Gil’s voice was clear in that he was losing his patience, but the more time he took to look at it, the void didn't seem familiar. He opened his mouth to speak, but he had nothing to say. He let out a defeated sigh, unaware of where the hell he was going and just slowly followed Baal.

Not much time had passed, but the intricacies of the Void was more than enough to make him sick of it. Frustrated and silent, the King of Heroes followed Baal till he saw a stone arch with a glistening blue portal. His heart leapt for joy as he thought he would never be so happy to find his way back into the Omniverse. It has been so long since he felt the light of the Dunes and unbearable heat, yet that’s all he wanted to feel on his skin right now. He turned his head to see Baal flying away and he gave him a soft wave.

“See ya Space Cowboy.”

Grapefruit gazes at his surroundings as he and his newfound friends enter Camelot through the Nexus's gate. They are in a grassy field, with tall stones surrounding them. Grapefruit stops and stares at the distant landscape. He can see a great forest, large mountains, and most interesting of all, a massive city filled with white buildings. It almost looks like a holy fortress. "Were the cities from my world always this big?" Grapefruit asks himself, inadvertently speaking out loud.

CHARACTER NAME: Rick Thunderbolt

CHARACTER SOURCE: Ōban Star Racers

CHARACTER HISTORY:
[From the wiki]
In 2076, Rick was living in New Mexico and had a group of friends he liked to race with. One day he bumped into Don Wei and asked him to give them a start. Don agreed, but advised Rick not to shift gears so early next time. As a result, Rick won the race. The following year, Rick became a champion star-racer pilot with Don Wei as his manager. He won the Earth Grand Prix for the next three years in a row, but in 2081 he left Wei Racing. Rick continued to race, but he did not win the Earth Grand Prix again.

By 2082, Rick had become the champion of the Minor Leagues. He is chosen to accompany Don Wei as the Earth Team's original pilot for the Alwas eliminatories. He is seriously injured in the team's first race, and is later told that he can never race again, a fact that he learns to slowly accept, since racing was "his whole life".

Cool and confident, he seems to appreciate Molly's enthusiasm, and affectionately calls her "Little Mouse." He seems to be the first to see her potential as a pilot, playfully asking Don Wei if he took her along as a backup pilot in the second episode. Eventually, Rick becomes Molly's personal coach and begins to discover that Molly is hiding a secret from the team. During the race against Spirit, he finally determines Molly's true identity as Don Wei's daughter, but doesn't reveal it to anyone else.

Rick also investigates the suspicious circumstances behind his crash to find out who sabotaged his ship. The search leads him first to a Scrub named Zard, who leads Rick to the real saboteur; a mad Scrub that takes orders from a mysterious being called "The Timeless One". Before Rick can learn anything else from him, the Scrub is killed when his house is struck by lightning.

The only clue Rick is left with is a stone pendant with a strange symbol on it. After asking the locals and other pilots about it unsuccessfully, he goes to a Scrub shaman for answers. The shaman senses a great evil near the stone, but Rick is willing to risk the danger to find the truth, especially since Molly might be the next target. With the shaman's help, Rick has a vision in which he meets Canaletto face to face. Canaletto shows and tells Rick many things, but makes him forget the whole experience afterward.

When the team qualifies for the Grand Finals on Ōban, Rick decides to return Earth, but only after he encourages Molly to tell Don she's his daughter and try to work things out.

Except that he never gets to Earth because a certain jerk with too much power and not enough morals decides to pull him off to his own little world.
