Character name:
Vincent Valentine

Character source:
Compilation of Final Fantasy VII

Character history:
All history from the Final Fantasy VII ‘universe’. I would be picking up shortly after the end of Dirge of Cerberus-Final Fantasy VII. I can write up a history if needed.

Stats:
ATK: 3
DEF:1
SPD:4
TEC:2

Starting Proficiencies:
Ranged Proficiency (1000 OM)

Starting Powers: (2000) Master Acrobat (400), Burst Movement (800), Basic Super Jumping (300), Basic Suppression (500)

Starting Moves:
Cerberus (300): Vincent’s weapon of choice. A specially designed triple barreled revolver, it is adorn at the end of each barrel with a dog’s head, symbolizing the tri-headed Cerberus of Greek mythology. From the grip hangs a charm in the shape of the mythical dog with a single wing. Though referred to as a revolver, the barrels make the gun closer to the size of a sawed-off shotgun, with nearly the same punch.

Total Used OM: 3300, 700 remaining.

Writing example:

“Ms. Crescent,” he began, his voice faltering on the final syllable.

She sat, shaking upon the exam bench, tears in her eyes. Extraordinarily drawn and pale, she looked impossibly ill for an expectant mother. The past few months had taken nearly every breath of life from her once youthful and beautiful body. Save for her prominent abdomen, she resembled an emaciated corpse. Tears continued to stream from her still vibrant brown eyes as she clutched at her pulsating abdomen.

“Lucrecia…” Vincent whispered, dropping a hand on her shoulder. She grabbed his hand weakly, trying in vain to hide the now ever-present tremor.

“Hello, Vincent.” Lucrecia responded, attempting a smile.

“I can’t stand to see you like this,” he said, drawing himself closer, his voice still a whisper. “We need to get you help. The Jenova project can’t-”

Lucrecia pushed the Turk away, getting cautiously to her feet. “No, Vincent. This mus-” she began, before collapsing to her knees. “The Jenova…project… must…continue.” Her voice shook between rattling breaths. She winced as her abdomen pulsated against her gown.

“This isn’t right! We shouldn’t be doing this! HE shouldn’t be doing this!” Vincent snapped, staring up at the pulsing silhouette on the ultrasound display overhead. “I can’t watch this destroy you!” Before she could raise her voice to protest, he had gone.

-

Rage brewed in the Turk’s blood as he paced quickly down the immaculate hallway. The corridor to Shinra Lab III was long, well-lit and silent; silent, save for the clicking of his shoes and his heaving breaths. His hand found the holstered gun at his side as he reached the door. Without hesitation, he jammed the intercom button forcefully.

“Let me in.” He commanded fiercely.

“Who is it?” the ‘com inquired, the sing-song voice of the Head of the Research Division.

“Vincent Valentine. Open the door, Hojo.” Vincent spat, not attempting to hide his anger.

The door swung open almost instantly. The dimly lit lab smelled of cigarettes and solder. A perfect 20x20x20 cube, the laboratory was the definition of chaos. Instruments and electrical wiring comingled on the floor beneath tables covered in paperwork and broken beakers. A trio of enormous high-end computer screens hung over a work station, each scrolling with complicated lines of code interspersed the occasional image. At the far end there stood a man in a white lab coat, his long ponytail hanging down his back.

“Hello, Mr. Valentine,” Professor Hojo called, his back still to him.

“Hojo, this has to end. The Jenova project is sacrilege!” Vincent insisted, advancing across the lab.

“The Jenova project is the beginning of everything. I will not end it simply because you cannot see its brilliance.” The Professor remained busy with his work as he spoke. “And you’d do well to watch your tone, boy.”

“It’s KILLING Lucrecia. I’m not going to stand by and watch this go on any longer!” The Turk roared.

“Mr. Valentine, Ms. Crescent elected to do this. Her child; OUR child will be the beginning of a new age! If you have a problem with the way my research is going, request a new assignment.” He turned to face Vincent, a sinister smile on his face.

“No. I’m ending this. I’m not watching her suffer any longer. That thing in her has to die. Stop this, now!” The two stood just feet apart.

“I see only one thing that has to die here, Mr. Valentine.” Hojo’s hand emerged from his pocket, clasping a revolver. In one swift motion, he leveled it at the Turk.

Vincent’s hand shot to his side, his fingers fumbling to extract his sidearm. A second later a loud BANG echoed throughout the lab as he slipped into darkness.

  The Emperor's Jubilee
Posted by: Omni - 09-15-2013, 05:23 PM - Forum: Coruscant - Replies (8)

All Primes in city-approved accommodation receive a recorded voice message to their Dataverse inboxes.

"This is the Judge speaking. Next week is the Emperor's jubilee. Gonna be a lot of floats, a lot of people. There's been some things going around on the Dataverse. Some punks claiming they're gonna cause problems. Could be just a prank, but it never hurts to take a few extra precautions, and if you all want to prove your loyalty to the Empire, this is your chance. Just keep a lookout and don't cause problems. You get in the way of the parade, I'll be taking you down too.

Dredd out."

Empire News Direct - Your source, from the source!

Preparations are at their height now for the Emperor's Jubilee next week. Seven years ago our glorious Emperor founded Coruscant, beginning a new era of enlightenment and prosperity. Now, citizens of the Empire come from far and wide to pay respects to the man who selflessly gave so many a sanctuary when there was none. In those early days, many doubted that any city could last in such a world, but thanks to the wisdom and perseverance of our leader, we have prospered. This festival celebrates the Empire's achievements and the achievements of every citizen. We wouldn't have got this far without the trust we've placed in our leader.

Here's more on the man, Emperor Palpatine ... (news story continues)

  Hope Rides Alone
Posted by: Proto Man - 09-14-2013, 06:50 PM - Forum: Coruscant - Replies (5)

The preteen android let out a sigh as he placed the panel back over his exposed foot and waited for it to seal back into place with a dull thunk. Once that was done he practiced twisting and bending the ankle to ensure that the appendage was functioning at its optimum efficiency. In the scramble from Wily’s collapsing fortress, he’d got caught on some rubble and twisted several of the pistons out of place.

With that done, Proto Man fell back onto the bed’s naked mattress and looked up at the ceiling. An icon in the corner of his HUD told him that the display was nearly done patching to the newest available software, whatever the hell that meant. As he relaxed, the robot listened to the strange melody that the flying cars made as they traversed their strange, invisible streets. Despite the fact that Monsteropolis had been one of the most advanced cities on the planet, it had nothing that compared to the menagerie of real life science-fiction that was Corusant’s sea of impossibly tall and often strikingly beautiful structures. If this was to be his life for the foreseeable future, Proto Man was certain he could adapt quite easily to his new surroundings.

Patch Finished. Omniverse-update complete. A reboot is required for this update, would you like to do that now?

“Yes.” The android muttered as he drew breath into his inorganic ‘lungs.’ The last time he’d been forced to reboot his system, he’d lost a good week of his life and woke up to find himself buried in a landfill somewhere outside Chicago. At least this time he was somewhere that he wouldn’t been mistaken as a busted-up toy. As the icons on his screen vanished one-by-one, Proto Man flashed a grin toward the spinning ceiling fan overhead. “Maybe I’ll wake up in ano-- …

  Nanoha's library adventures
Posted by: Nanoha Takamachi - 09-14-2013, 06:27 AM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (5)

As you guys probably would've guessed from the addition of some library info to the setting details (that and her mentioning it in the scramble anyway) Nanoha will be visiting some library place soon enough.

It's going to be a bit more, uh, complicated than that though!

After 1-2 more posts I'll throw the thread open for anyone else to come join in the fun! For now I'm just going to do a bit more setup and get Nanoha to the library itself and then we'll see how things develop as more people join.

I know Proto Man will be showing up at some stage, but I have no problems with who else joins as long as you're willing to work within the vague framework of this little arc (if you are planning to join, I'm happy to explain the rough idea of what's going to happen). But don't worry, it wont be limiting or anything, there are just certain things that are going to happen that will be the driving force behind this arc.

I expect this will last at least 6 weeks from now, and then we'll see where we are at!

  Cold and far from home.
Posted by: Nanoha Takamachi - 09-14-2013, 06:20 AM - Forum: Coruscant - Replies (2)

There was a chill to the night's air and a quiet whistle of a breeze as Nanoha stepped away from the portal. There were several guards, just like the ones that had arrived at the fountain with Dredd and Bradley, nearby who looked curiously at the sudden arrival. She waved them off as several stepped forward; she could already see that she wasn't going to be walking to the city itself on foot either- much like the portal back in the nexus. It had only taken a minute of walking to realise that the portal to this shining city was much further away from the central landmark than expected. An hour's walk, at least, and Nanoha was determined to get there before Dredd and the rest of his soldiers did. She had no real desire to enter the city under that man's terms. In the end she had sought deep within for that Omnillium again and, much like she surmised, found it easy to shape something, albeit rather time consuming. She summoned a motorbike, not unlike the one she had back on Mid-Childa, and rode it across the flat white of the nexus world to the portal before the others had managed to catch up.

Dismissing her Barrier Jacket and returning Raising Heart to her sphere of glinting crimson, Nanoha stepped quietly into the flying transport some of the soldier escorted her to. That she had arrived before any of their comrades, or either commanders, had returned didn't seem to bother them. It was becoming even more starkly obvious that those two Primes had enough power to take care of themselves even when confronted with a dozen or so new arrivals. Until more information about the Lost Logia behind all of this became apparent, steering clear of any of the older primes was going to be a very prudent plan.

As the transport soared through the sky toward the massive stalagmite of a citadel that dominated the skyline of Coruscant, Nanoha couldn't help but realise that this shiny city really was a breathtaking sight to behold. It continued as far as she could see: an endless carpet of glittering steel and glass, of polished ebony and rich colours. Even the greatest cities of Mid-Childa could not compare to this excessive splendour, but with only the gentle hum of the machine that carried her and the soft warmth of Raising Heart next to her, Nanoha could not help but feel the cold of the air outside washing over here. Until she found a way out of here, she was separated from all her loved ones, from all those she protected. Separated from those which she drew her strength from. As beautiful as it was, this was a cold and unfeeling city crafted from a mysterious and sinister power, not a true inner strength of a collective society.

One of the soldiers had handed her a small metal-rimmed tablet with a map of the city. She saw no library there and few interesting landmarks on the apparently military specific map. It did have information about a further six tiers below the one she could see below, however. The idea of a city with six more as its foundation sent another chill down Nanoha's spine. It would be far too worryingly ironic if that was symbolic as well as literal.

"We're landing shortly, Miss, there should be a droid waiting outside for you once we're down."

Nanoha was snapped out of her deep thought by the guard seated opposite her in the transport. He was a young man, with bright eyes and blond hair; his helmet lay nested in the crook of his right arm. A few moments later and the familiar thud of landing shuddered through the metal around her. The guard waited until she had stood before standing himself and donning his helmet again. It wasn't clear if the young man was just following protocol or being a gentleman, but he offered an arm to support her as she went to take the short hop down. Likewise, she wasn't sure if it was his kind face or the tiredness beginning to seep into her very bones, but Nanoha gratefully accepted the offer. After getting her bearings on the smooth concrete of the landing pad, Nanoha turned to offer thanks, only to find that the door had already shut, motor whirring as the transport took off again.

There was a soft tap on her shoulder and, turning back, Nanoha was politely greeted by a strange humanoid robot.
"Welcome to Coruscant. My name is CR-354. I have been instructed to assist all newly arrived Primes with a guide to the city and to ensure you are comfortable in your accommodation."

Accommodation. Some rest and a warm shower sounded very appealing right now.
"Could we go straight to my accommodation, please? I'd like some rest first."

The robot paused for a moment, several odd lights on it flickering in the gloom before it replied.
"I have requested a hover transport to take us to your accommodation, miss. Will this unit's assistance be required any further after you have settled into your lodging?"

Nanoha considered the map she had been given by the soldier on the transport. Perhaps a look at the lower tiers of the city would be a good idea, but first she needed to find the city's library. If Coruscant was as advanced and civilised as Bradley had claimed it to be, then a library should be a given.
"Yes, please. I would appreciate some help finding my way around the city in the morning if you could."

The robot made a small and very awkward bow of affirmation.

The wind was still cold around them as a hovering car whistled to a halt in front of them a few minutes later. The strange pit of lonesomeness that was building in Nanoha's gut would take some getting used to, but for now she would have to make do with what she could. Stepping inside the car, Raising Heart glided down to rest against her throat.

I am here, my master. You are not e%gg so alone.

Nanoha smiled slightly. Raising Heart never ceased to remind her master just how accurate the Device's name was.

  Anyone want a Fight?

Meh. I'm looking for a fight. You will have to fight me and Deadpool. I don't care about rules really. Not trying to get me or the kid banished. But he wants a fight so its best to let him learn about things head first.

Anyone interested?
