  Let the Games Begin (ALMOST)
Posted by: Karl Jak - 05-25-2015, 11:39 AM - Forum: Dante's Abyss Junkyard - No Replies

I will be home around 8:30 CDT tonight, depending on traffic and train-related stuff. I'll be creating the first Day 1 thread when I get home and get set up.

All you have your Location and Weapons.

You may send me your movements, F2F prep, and any alliances you're forming through PM now, to save yourself having to do it later (and also to save me from being bombarded with 20+ pms the moment I make the thread).

Remember that I need confirmation from all allies when you move into the same square.

  Demon Dreams
Posted by: Kuzuru - 05-24-2015, 10:23 PM - Forum: The Astral Realm - Replies (1)

In the middle of a field stands a massive tree, larger than any tree ought to be. The tree is tangled and choked with wrist-thick barbed vines. Except for a few branches carrying life the tree was barren. At the base of the tree, pierced into its trunk is a simple katana with a red and black handle. The vines emanate from this cursed blade, choking the life out of the tree. It is here that I find myself, at the base of this dying tree in front of this wicked sword.

I've been here before.

Without hesitating I reached out and gripped the handle of the blade. The tree melted away into a swirling mass of gray and brown. Eventually the mix stabilized and I found myself in a cold cement hallway. All color had disappeared except for a crimson red line that ran down the center of the hallway. Prison cells line either side of the walls, each cell housed a soul consumed by the Blade of Lost Souls. Thousands of years worth of souls all incarcerated within my blade. I walked past the cells and observed the prisoners, trying to remember those that I've slain. They never spoke, they hardly ever moved. Greyed-out and faded every soul was a shadow of its formal self.

I wondered what they experienced, trapped for an eternity unable to act only able to watch. In a way I pitied them, but if they were stronger they would not have been trapped.

One prisoner caught my eye, he seemed out of place. A some glow came from his body, he had color; it was faint but he had color. Before I could react he grinned wickedly and reached through the bars. He grabbed the collar of my shirt and with on fluid motion pulled me through the bars. The cell was flooded with color and the prisoner flashed brightly with color before fading to more moderate tones.

"Hello Renji, we've much to talk about" he spoke coyly, his voice slick with poison.

I backed away slightly and asked him "who are you?"

He grinned and said "me? I was the original owner of that sword you now wield." My heart sank. I turned to run, but the bars held me imprisoned. I wanted to get as far away from that man as possible. He was abhorrent, bringing sound and color to this prison of grayscale and silence.

"How are you talking? How did you pull me in here?" I asked, I was quite frankly frightened. He held out his hand and in it a small rainbow orb pulsed.

Omnilium

I dashed forward and tried to grab the orb from his hand and he pulled it back close to his chest. Somehow he got a hold of that mystical substance, somehow it gave him life and purpose. He chuckled venomously and pointed to the bars of the cell "looks like you've got bigger problems to deal with."

A red wicked arm reached from the darkness and grabbed me by the throat "what are you doing in there Renji!? Time to wake up, I smell blood!" Before I could protest Kuzuru's gaunt arm ripped me through the bars and back to reality.

  The Garden, Gutted.
Posted by: Okor - 05-24-2015, 12:02 PM - Forum: The Astral Realm - No Replies

Okor waded through waist-deep organic matter, every stride he made forcing aside dead materiel. Petrified branches crossed the green sky, titanic trees standing stark white, all life drained from their once-vibrant bodies. Where once rivers of filth flowed, where nurglings capered in the pools of pestilence, where life was once abundant, here was only dried pools of cracked mud, and alabaster bones. Underneath his heavy tread, the ground coughed up dust, making it quite evident that he was the only being to have walked this plane in aeons. He squatted down, his hands sinking into the encrusted filth, tearing out a pure white, misshapen skull. A winding horn sprouted from a cyclopean, jawless bone. Tossing it away into the sea of filth, he trudged forward, his lone eye gazing over this realm of death.

He ran a skeletal hand over a petrified Copse of trees. The ground around them was stained with tears, a reminder of the warlocks' eternal punishment. They had dared to tread upon Nurgle's realm, dreamed of tearing away his prize. Isha. The maiden Goddess of the Eldar, their supposed saviour, the one who would deliver them from Nurgle's gifts. The arrogance. Did they not care how Nurgle showed mercy, by taking her from the clutches of that hedonistic ur-God, Slaanesh? For a race who's members can recall the times before the Great Crusade, they seemed to have such pitifully short memories. Isha. The name came from all around him, from the sky, the earth, his mouth, his weapons, a seeming fact of nature, as sure as gravity, that the universe had waited until now to reveal. He took a moment to look closely at the trees, where the warlocks had been made into a permanent fixture of the garden.

There were hollows in them, fitted to the contours of a slim, waspish body.

A blade sunk through his ribs, the wraithbone, studded with gems, slick with his pale blood. He whipped around, as the warlock twisted through the air, tearing the blade from his abdomen, landing cat-like on his feet. His hand rose, clutching a rusted bolt pistol. He mashed the trigger, sending a bolt screaming towards the Eldar. The Warlock, his face concealed beneath an impassive mask, began to display the skill his ilk were known for. A burst of warp-lightning tore through the air, detonating the bolt prematurely, scorching Okor's decayed armour. Snarling in hatred, he strode forward, slipping his plague blade from its sheath. The Eldar surged forward, the bone blade skittering across his gorget, narrowly missing the crack between it and his throat. He brought his blade down, the rusted bronze slicing through the Warlock's arm, severing it from the elbow down. The Eldar was unperturbed, as dust flowed from its wound. In a blink, it's blade skimmed across his helmet, slicing into his eye. Grunting in acknowledgement of his serious wound, Okor's fist swung through the air, connecting with the subhuman's skull, despite it's best efforts. The helmet flew from its head, trailing ash. Its robes fluttered to the ground, animated by nothing more than a spirit. He slipped the dry sword back into its loop, kicking aside the empty black robes. Beneath them laid a grinning skull, tapering to a point at its end. He stomped it into dust, shattering the delicate bone beneath his heavy boots, sending shrapnel scything through the silence.

Okor stopped in front of the manor. Petrified wooden shutters hung from stained walls, as broken yellow windows looked out into the dead morass of Nurgle's realm. Atop a rocking chair so antique to have fossilized, laid the bones of a giant. Ivory ribs laid across the seat, a twisted spine laid against the back, while a truly massive skull, topped with hold-ridden antlers laid nestled in the malformed pelvis. The end of a God. He should cry. He should weep. He should scream. He should fall upon his own sword, and end his empty life. He sunk his blade and claws into the ancient throne, and began to climb, chipping holds in the sacral wood. He gritted his infected, broken teeth.

Someone has to do it.

He had lost track of how long he had been climbing. Perhaps mere seconds, possibly months. He had never stopped his climb, purpose filling his bones. At long last, he threw an emaciated arm over the seat, pulling his heavy frame on top of the preserved wood. He walked forward, tabard following behind him. There was no wind to blow it, no motion, no life. He clambered on top of the dead god's skull, scratching it underneath his boots, sending chips of legendary bone falling to the ground seemingly miles below. He pulled himself over the brow, and sat, surveying the realm from the viewpoint of a god. At the heart of it stood a tree of colossal proportions, wider than a mountain at its stump. Yggdrasil. It bloomed and grew, flourishing amidst all this death. Flowers topped its branches, birdsong could be heard from its canopy, and laughter seemed to fill the air. It was a sole speck of shining life amidst the darkness of the dead garden.

Antlers began to burst from his skull as he grew, and pondered the situation. Death, and life, torn apart. Separated. Two sides of a coin. They must be rejoined. Yggdrasil must burn. He chuckled through necrotic lips, as he belly swelled from fetid corpse gasses. He wrapped his rotten fingers around the arms of the throne, his damaged eye gazing through pus and blood towards the tree. Soon.

If you are allying with people, make sure you coordinate movements and don't run into each other without notifying me of a team up.

Otherwise people will get hurt, even if you're pals.

Play it smart and make sure you coordinate everything.

Ideas for Verses, and General Verse Discussion Thread
Posted by: Shay Cormac - 05-23-2015, 06:45 PM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (39)

As the title implies, post here for any Verse-related ideas or imaginings!

For instance, suggesting an idea for a Verse with a certain setting behind it, or perhaps how you imagine some Verses that already exist to look like, and what lies within them. I mainly make this because I don't think the Verses here get enough talk, because after all, a good setting helps any story move along quite a lot.

For my own little contributions to this thread as I sit and wait for opportunities to post stuff, I'll start off by this one idea I've always liked to see in this website, and the only thing I think it's really missing...

A balance between Coruscant and Camelot, science and magic... A Magitech Verse.

Honestly, when I first heard of this website, I immediately began to think this kinda place would be where every character would start off, a huge Verse where magically inclined wizards are just as powerful as crazy mad scientists, and everywhere you look, there's a strange mix of fantasy and sci-fi, somehow existing all at once, and the only explanation for that being Omnilium. Inventions start becoming stylized with old-fashioned looks, powered by rare lab-experimented elements and materials, or perhaps technomancy proficiencies fueling high-tech robots.

Anyways, I have a couple more ideas for Verses, but I'll just keep it at that to let you all decide on a setting you'd like to roleplay on in the Omniverse! Heck, maybe we'll catch the staff's attention... wink wink nudge nudge :pink:

Fortnight of the 24th through the 6th
Posted by: Omni - 05-23-2015, 04:32 PM - Forum: Bookkeeping Archive - Replies (51)

Step 1: Make a post. This post should be at least 600 words. You may also post multiple times adding up to 600 words or more.

Step 2: Click on the name of your post. See it? It's probably something like 'Re: The Story of John Doe', a large line of text above your post. This should have a hashtag and your post link at the end of it (see the bolded part on the end here: http://omniverse-rpg.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=1114&p=7298#p7298). Copy the entire URL from your address bar.

Step 3: Post it in the active fortnightly gains topic. The date of your post should be within the date range, GMT. If you are submitting multiple posts that add up to 600, post all the links.

Step 4 (optional): If you have posted in the current book club, please include a link to that post along with the text 'book club'.

Step 5 (optional): If you have a Recognition bonus, please include in your post 'Recognition bonus: +50'. If you have an Ascendancy bonus, please post with 'Ascendancy bonus: +100'.

That's all you need to do! When the topic is updated, you will be given 300 OM. Obviously if you have a recognition or ascendancy bonus, this will be increased by 50 or 100. A book club bonus will increase this by a further 100. If no mod has posted at the end of the topic, then it hasn't been updated yet. You do not need to ask "has the thread been updated? I didn't get my OM" every week.

New fortnightly gains topics go up every second Sunday at midnight (at the end of Saturday and the dawn of Sunday) GMT. The valid time begins on Sunday at 0000 hours GMT and ends on Saturday at 2359 GMT.

  The New Stalking List
Posted by: Darth Vader - 05-23-2015, 03:07 PM - Forum: Dante's Abyss Junkyard - Replies (2)

This was kinda touched upon in the chat box, so I thought I'd make a thread out of it. Which writers have had you most riveted since DA's beginning and having managed to segway themselves onto your stalking list? Feel free to post your list below, as well as reasons why.

My list;

Gildarts - I hadn't read much of this guy before I interacted with him during the pre-show, but oooooh boy do I wish I had. This guy can always seem to pull off making a post engaging and immersive, whether it's a gaziillion words in length or just 6 or 7 paragraphs. Gildarts is a pretty cool character, on the plus of things.

Mickey Mouse - Everything this guys' been posting in DA so far has been absolutely solid. He's really been able to steal the spotlight with Mickey, in a totally good and awesome way. Even after DA ends, I look forward to seeing where 'Ears' ends up going in the future.

Link + Ganondorf - I like both of these two for entirely different reasons, but I feel like their interactions and "frienemy" dynamics definitely bring out the best in one another. Wherever they go in the future, whether apart or together, I think I'll certainly be tagging along for the read Tongue

**DEAD25**[46] - Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson (NPC)
Posted by: Karl Jak - 05-23-2015, 09:42 AM - Forum: Dante's Abyss Records (2015) - No Replies

[Image: rs_600x600-140618140017-600.the-rock-working-out.jpg]

Backstory – The Great One is a former WWF/WWE Champion, as well as holding about 14 other titles, a gazillion accolades, and generally being the best ever (aside from that beer drinking guy from Texas). After essentially doing it all, the People’s Champ moved to Hollywood, where he proved again that he’s way more awesome than anyone would have ever thought. It is said that he once lifted half a dozen dead movie franchise upon his back and carried them to safety.

Universally loved by all and the undisputed master of social media and the internet, Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson stood unchallenged as he single-handedly ate the world’s entire population of cod to fuel his rock-solid physique. One day, as he was feasting upon 48,000 grams of protein after pushing Mount Everest a few feet (or some similarly absurd feat), the Rock was taken by Omni into the Omniverse.

Rather than Rock Bottom said all-white dude for disrupting his workout, the Rock decided that the Omniverse must be some sort of extremely long Battle Royal match, so he’s not going to rest until he’s pinned everyone in his path, you jabroni.

Extra - Handicap 5

Moves – Like, a lot, yo. Suplex, Spinebuster, that thing where he pins you against the turnbuckle and punches you a lot (LAYETH THE SMACKETH DOWN ON ALL YOUR CANDY ASSES)

Super Moves – Tier 1 (The Rock Bottom), Tier 1 (HE STEALS YO FINISHER), Tier 2 (The People’s Elbow)

Alternate Forms

Jabroni Beatin’, Pie Eatin’ – The Rock is in such excellent physical shape that he can reverse his biology to a point when he was less bulky. This makes the Rock quicker, nimbler, and a little more prone to wear a fanny pack. (Note – The Rock never goes full Rocky Johnson. Never. Again.)
[Image: therock2_original_display_image.jpg?1319489626]

Powered Up Forms

The Rock Rock – The Rock flexes his muscles with such strength that they become Rock.
