Secondary Saga [Clue and Dataverse Ad]
Posted by: Gildarts - 08-07-2015, 10:34 PM - Forum: Dataverse Messageboards - No Replies

"Find Omni"

A glitchy, half-assed webpage advertisement like this one would blend in with the rest of the articles exactly like it. Written by those who had theories, proof, or falsely claimed evidence on how to find the man with the plan. Each article, a dime a dozen.

The search of the Omninet's data pages helped to refine topics like a carefully sorted encyclopedia and for those who had googled any search inquiries related to "finding Omni, the Oververse, or locating the Void," they would receive a fair share of bundled articles from anyone and anything that claimed to have seen an inkling of the deity's presence. All lore, lies, and local literature were amassed together and each article could be passed with a single click of a mouse on the blue linked words.

This Webimage, located below, appeared to blur and glitch in and out of focus, as though it were moving with the pulse of a digital heartbeat. On the black and white picture in the middle of the page, there was a set of ruins with a venerable tree-scape backdrop. Beneath the square frame are the bolded words: "Hidden Ruins in the Tangled Green" followed by some directions and the exact location on a map.

The image looked too much like something out of an Indiana Jones movie. And on the side of the stone building there was an entrance, half hidden by leaves. An on-looker who would scroll past the picture would probably find it extremely out of date, and upon a closer look, they would get an ominous chill down their neck and deduce it as a little creepy. It was black and white after all.

There was also a noticeable blur in the corner of the image, tribal markings on a post nearby, and lastly, footsteps in the mud that lead into the mouth of the cavelike entrance.

Whoever had discovered these ancient ruins remained unknown, or unnamed, probably because they were dead. Killed off by their own cause. However their article in association to Omni followed. Exactly how closely these ruins were associated to Omni was unspecified, but anyone desperate enough to find Omni were advised to start here.

An Idiot, a Dragon, and Some Rock People. (PM to enter)
Posted by: Rin Okumura - 08-07-2015, 08:57 PM - Forum: The Ashen Steppes - Replies (45)

He hit the ground running, sword in hand and ready to be drawn. Black smoke filled his vision as the heat grew more intense the further he ran. A brief moment of blindness as the smoke finally thinned out and light filled his vision, then surprise. Rin had arrived in the Ashen Steppes, though he didn't know that himself, and what he expected to be a town on fire, turned out to be a mountain surrounded by the same black smoke that came from the gate that lead to this place. "Cool!" The first words to leave his mouth, just like the first time he laid eyes upon The Nexus.

The son of Satan was easily impressed, so seeing such a large mountain in person was really something to him. "Wait.. There's something I we need to do here.." He thought, scanning the area for what could be burning. But there was little luck finding a specific place or thing, as the entire place seemed to be one big melting pot, where whatever could burn, likely already was. The occasional break in the ash that covered the sky revealed a red hue, indicating that the skies were not their normal color.

Without even thinking about waiting for Shulk, Rin began walking into this unknown world, examining whatever he thought was interesting. This happened to be just about everything, so it's not like he could get too far ahead anyways. He stopped to look into a large crack in the earth, and could see so far down that even lava was visible. All of this cool stuff made the young demon have what seemed like a permanent "wow" face..

Continuing, he came across the start of a long passage leading up the mountain. He was just about to start walking up it, when he remembered his traveling companion and decided to wait. That is, until a boulder began rolling down the passage, and straight towards Rin. Running was the first thing he thought of, so that's exactly what he did. Then the strangest thing happened, when he ran out of the path of this boulder, it made a sharp turn to continue following him!

"What the hell!" He exclaimed as he continued running away. The path Rin was running would lead right back to where he started. No matter how fast the demon ran, which was quite fast due to his heightened physical abilities, the boulder seemed to go that much faster. This made it impossible for Rin to get away, since he was moving to fast to simply dodge, and the fact the boulder would probably just turn to follow him..

He was almost back to the entrance, when Shulk suddenly ran out of the black smoke where Rin had done the same, forcing him to stop. The boulder was already close enough to squash the demon if he lost any speed, so abruptly stopping wasn't the best thing to happen to him. There it was, the boulder that would likely end his life. It was almost like it was moving in slow motion, slowly rolling toward the two masses of flesh in bone, ready to smash them both underneath it's mass. He watched as it's form shifted from the familiar spheric shape, into a creature with arms and legs. His time was soon. Wait..

"What!?" Rin asked as he lowered his leg and hands after they were used to hide himself. The boulder, or what was once a boulder, had turned into some rock-person. This rock-person laughed at the demon's surprise, and opened his mouth to speak.

"Welcome to Death Mountain, bruthas." It said in a low, rough sounding voice, "Sorry to say, but it's probably not a good idea for you two to be here right now. A dragon named Volvagia and his cronies have been terrorizing this place for a while." The goron seemed to shift a little after he mentioned the dragon's name, but still held his ground, trying to prevent the two from passing.

"I guess it's you're lucky day!" Rin said with a confident smile, "We came here thinking someone was in trouble, and it looks like were right. Where do we sign up?" He was very intent on helping these creatures, even if he had no idea what they were, or if they were the dangerous ones.

"Whoa brutha! Do you know what you could be getting yourself into?" The Goron asked, surprised about how headstrong the kid was.

"I don't care, you're in danger, right? Let's go!" The goron almost seemed put off by this, but shrugged and invited them to their village a ways up the mountain. The two accepted this offer and followed the creature as he led them up the path. The mountain, or what Rin thought was a mountain, turned out to be a volcano, which would occasionally spew lava or more of the familiar black smoke. Thankfully the trio didn't encounter any dangerous monsters on their way up, and were able to make it to the village with relative ease.

The village itself was what you might expect from one so close to a volcano, small, in a cave, and dark save for the occasional torch that helped light the way. There were many goron in this village, and each one they passed with a greeting along the line of "Hey brutha," which began getting a little annoying to Rin. There was eventually a light that could be seen at the end of the tunnel, and when they walked out, there was a much more spacious area before them. It was a large, roughly circular area made up of several levels, each one becoming smaller as you went down.

There were far more goron in this place than the tunnels, and hey all came to greet the two. They were surrounded by rock-people now, each one greeting them or asking where they were from. The one that had approached them at the base of the mountain spoke up to talk over the rest, "If you're still wanting to take on Volvagia.." the rest of the goron became silent at the mention of the dragon, "Then follow me, I'll take you to the elders."

Quote:Continued from Making a Move

And proceeds to land right on his face in a wonderful display of somersaults and physics. Though the landing is soft, as the ground beneath him was composed of lush, green grass, it still kinda hurt like a bitch. Gamzee comically skid a few feet forward on his face, legs in the air, until coming to a slow stop. He groans, unmoving for a moment as his legs stay splayed in the air. His legs fall to the ground in a few more moments, and his body lays still. Eventually, he sighs, and pushes himself up to a sitting position, stretching one leg out, and resting an arm on the other knee. He takes a moment to examine his surroundings and ho-lee hell. Miracles, all around. Trees, huge giant trees, whose wood is brown as coffee beans, and leaves as emerald as....emerald. The grass was also brilliant shade of wonderful green, but then again, he got a pretty close up view of the grass. There was a lake about thirty or forty yards ahead of him, fog rolling lazily off the banks, a full, blindingly white moon reflecting on the surface and-

Eh? A moon? It's night time? Well, damn. That's news to him. Of course, there was no way for him to tell in that empty, voidless sea of white called The Nexus. Ah well. No harm in all that. In fact, Gamzee was much more of a night-time guy. Nothing good ever happened after midnight, and that's just the way he liked it. But man. all this grass, and all these trees. He ain't never SEEN so much motherfucking green, vibrant life.

Except the slime. But in hue only. That shit ain't life, not by no stretch of the word.

Shoving that dark, dank, slimy thought from his head, he slaps his cheeks and carefully cracks his neck. Awright. Time to get to exploring this new, wickedly green regi-

With an inarticulate scream, something, or rather, someone clocks the sitting troll on the back of his head. Hard.

"Ow! Motherfucker!"

Shit! He knew miracles came out of nowhere, but they shouldn't be all up and hurting like that! He viciously shakes his head back and forth, literally shaking it off, and rolls forward, away from his assailant.

MOTHERFUCK THAT STUNG!

"Hnnng... Motherfucker!"

He puts his hands to the back of his head, nursing the blow, and tries to face his attacker. And as he turns around, catches another wooden club to the face.

"Nyahahaha!" A rather ugly goblin, green in hue just like the vegetation that surrounds them, stands in front of Gamzee, his weapon sunk into the troll's face. Behind the goblin loom two orcs of a darker shade of green carrying lit torches, both letting loose deep, rumbling laughs with their diminutive companion. That is, until, Gamzee latches onto the handle of his attacker's club, which is little more than a chunk of a tree trunk. The teenaged troll's unnatural steel grip slowly pushes the club away from his face, where it had left some dirt on his forehead. But that's not all it gave him; a small smile, innocent in origin, was plastered upon the clown's lips. The goblin stopped laughing. With a look of determination and slight rage, the unimposing creature tries to force his weapon back into his would-be victim's face.

Gamzee wasn't having that shit.

"Wow. Wooooow."

He lets loose a low whistle.

"You motherfuckers ain't got NO kinds of manners. What kinda hosts all up and try to beat the motherfuck out of their guest? C'mon. I know you guys are great guys. Ain't no sense in that."

The irony in this is that would a troll walk uninvited into another troll's home on Alternia, the intruder would've gotten much worse than a club to the back of the skull. Gamzee has such a height that he can lift the goblin a couple of inches of the ground by his club. He pulls his attacker in for a closer look.

"Hrrmmm... Ya'll are some ugly motherfuckers, ya know that? I mean damn. I mighta actually letcha walk off you know, no sweat no foul or no pain or whatever the hell, but I mean this is just..."

Gamzee's eyes briefly flash with a strange ugly orange tint, before returning to their average yellow. His mind; its clear for about half a second, clear of his laziness, clear of his humor and his laid-back attitude. Clear.

"Unforgivable."

Gamzee didn't even know he knew that word. And, without any more words he didn't know, the young, obviously rustled troll threw the club into the lake behind him, goblin and all. With a satisfying splash accompanying the moment, the unassuming troll gives the awestruck orcs a charming, if stupid grin before equipping his Deuce Clubs. The young, teenaged troll was an expert with these colorful juggling pins, in more ways than one. He spins the one in his right hand off his palm, before catching it by the neck again.

"Come one, come all, to the greatest show on earth. Step right up, step right up. Be amazed as I, Gamzee the Tragic Clown, beat the living shit out of you."

Quote:

I had once been told that, given enough time and not enough to do, that any man could be driven insane. "Idle hands are the devil's playground", or something to that effect. I had through it was bullshit. So long as there was something, a person could strive off boredom and keep themselves sane from the ever present questions we don't want answered. But it had been a day since I left Lieutenant Jones' office and had not yet heard world from him or any of his lackeys, and since then I had spent my entire time focused on the mission. I took a local apartment for a room (they were happy to have a "celebrity" staying with them) and locked myself in. Maps and manuals were printed and penned to the wall, equipment vital to the operation laid uselessly in a pile in a corner until needed. With three years of experience as a glorified mall cop for for the UAC's waste processing plant on Mars, I tried to map out all the logical guard routes on the blue print as well as where possibly heavier reinforcements could go through, but every small detail soon ballooned into a life of it's own. As I sat there on the end of bed I saw the extent of madness that happened over the course of several hours: that was one a single map and a few pages turned into a collage of notes, drawings, maps, and more pins and string that I thought I would ever need in a life time. It dawned on me that it wasn't boredom that would get you. People always preferred to do something, even if it was nothing of value. It was the obsession that consumed you. That you trapped yourself into a maze of thoughts until you have shunted yourself into another reality of your creation, and real life lost meaning. it was the not enough that would get you, because although it could not sustain your sanity it was enough to force yourself into its entirety. Enough rope to hang yourself, as it were.

I tired to shake it off. Told myself to go out and get some fresh air. Spend a few quarters at the arcade I saw across the street. Turn on the TV and watch some midgets wrestling. Anything to unwind myself from my self inflicted prison. But the mission took precedent. This would be just like any other briefing: absorb information, follow the plan, completely ignore the plan when everything inevitably went awry, then fight your way out with or to the objective. Simple, really.

Unfortunately, despite my efforts to go in with as much knowledge I could gather, the map I had stolen under the Empire's nose was incomplete. Or rather, it seemed as if parts of it were intentionally left in flux. Detailed drawings of the first few levels included every wall, cell, and security measure. Nothing left to the imagination. But as you went farther down increasingly large swathes of the blueprint was large generic blocks labeled as "containment area". Not even as censored blocks for certain eyes only, this was intentionally done by the architect. Were these areas just one giant room that they dump the prisoners into? That seemed so unlikely, as much of the structure around the areas were designed for supporting equipment inside them. Worse still, in the margin notes were mentioned of motorized walls and moving access points. It wasn't just some trumped up prison the Empire had at the horizon, but a hellish labyrinth of fiendish medieval torture mixed with modern day security.

It might have seen daunting to those used to the idea of what a prison is normally considered as, but to me it would be the Deimos Base all over again. A metallic, claustrophobic, and shifting bundle of tunnels and room where around every corner and behind every wall and door was something out to get you. If it had less demons that Deimos did, then it would be far less stress on my part.

But it did not leave me confident that I would find Sheila's sister. If prisoners weren't separated, then she may very well have been killed, shanked or beaten by insane primes or powerful enemies of the state. If Impel Down was as dangerous as everyone said, she could be nothing more than a smear on the ground at that very moment. If the Empire was as cruel as I suspected, she may have just offed herself. And if in spite of all that she was still alive, I would not have a clue where to look across the levels and many hiding spots there in. And that's before I had to figure out how the in the Hell I was suppose to make my way out. I could get in by myself with not a whole lot of problem, but if I had to drag her back out that was a massive hitch in the plan. Choprot was suppose to make it easy by parking outside, but he's gone dark. Can't rely on him. Not that I did in the first place, to be completely honest.

Break in, find the girl, get out. What could possibly be hard about that? Nothing. Everything.

After what seemed like the long wait to death and the third I checked my equipment, I got the call. Jones sent the message himself over the radio in quick spurts.

"Job's Done. 5th level. Good Luck" After that was only radio silence. I didn't have the chance to say goodbye myself, but I just took that as our chance to part ways a never see each other again. I took everything I needed, a headed down to the docks.

----

The late night sky was as clear as always, stars and a waned moon shined down and reflected upon the rippling surface of the Vasty Deep's unending ocean. Waves crash upon the shore, sea foam pushed up as far as it could go before finally pulled back into the whole again. Although the bright light of Costa Del Sol still dance behind me as the inhabitants partied into midnight, the docks themselves are largely abandoned. Only late arrivals, night fishermen, and moonlit romantics walked the wooden planks. They didn't pay much attention to me, which was better off for everyone.

Rather than my usual gear and equipment, I wore the UAC's standard environmental suit. Keeps you dry and alive in terrible conditions, but more importantly it comes with its own air takes and has very little metal in it. Most of my equipment had been rendered down back into omnilium and my armor broken down into its component parts and stuffed into a water proof bag. A DPV was under my arms, which was going to get me across the water faster and less tiring that swimming. I looked out over the black water of the night and tossed the bag in first. A nearby fisherman moved from his rod for a moment to watch me with a look on his face.

"What are you up to?" he asked, most of his diligence still on his line rather than me.

"Late night cram hunting" I lied as I jumpped in. If he figured me out, he didn't seem to care.

"Well, don't head out that way" He point out to my destination in the distance "Empire has it locked down with who knows what"

"I'll remember that" I mentioned, and then headed out on my way.

So... I'm looking to maybe try and find some work writing for money since I can't find a regular job (and acting barely pays the bills) but I have no idea where to start. Anyone have any luck with this? I'm particularly good at movie reviews but I'll take anything. I'm sure others would be interested in this as well.

So, I'm aware that we have a thread for designing joke characters, but if you're a GM-Head like me, then you've probably been tempted to create a Prime profile for another character, even if you already have two, just for fun!

This is where people (or at least, I) can do that, to put their character construction skills on display. There are no real rules for this thread, aside from adhering to all basic Omniverse rules, so feel free to give your creations as much or as little OM as you want.

...as long as some ground rules are understood.

1. This thread is, in no way, 'Official'.
2. Creating a sheet for a new Prime here does not formally reserve you that character.
3. This should go without saying, but Moderators are not obligated to look your sheets over.
4. This thread CANNOT be used to 'test' character concepts before creating Join applications.
5. Being a 'Wax Museum', it'd be nice if you included a picture of your creations in their 'Displays'. Smile

Other than that, have fun!

Character nameBig Grinasha Avdonin

Character source:Original Character

Character history:

A Kgb operative adept at stealth and espionage, she is also hireable and an extremely good shot

She was born in Moscow and has lived there since she was born. Her mother is Russian but her father is from Ukraine.

She is from an alternate history where The cold war ended but the User won, the USA is no longer a country and is now under the rule of the User.Europe also no longer exists as the Soviet offensive (aided by Dasha) meant that Europe is now a Soviet state. Thanks to Russian scientist being better in this timeliness tesla technology and technology in general is better than in most alternate histories. Surprisingly our timeline (Real life) has a worse quality of life than Dasha's world.

Physical description:

Sex:Female
Nationality:Russian
Age:22
Height:5'5"
Weight:122lbs
Clothes (winter):white and red fur cloak designed to be stealthy in snow
Clothes (any other season):Either black and red or tan and red if in desert or lush area

ATK-2
DEF-1
SPD-2
TEC-5

Starting Proficiencies:
Physical strength (1000)
Ranged Proficiency (1000)

Starting Powers:
Master acrobat (400)

Starting Moves:

Dasha's sniper: requires Ranged proficiency

Dasha's sniper is loaded with extreme armour piercing rounds (EAPR rounds) that can penetrate almost anything, the downside though is that it takes 3 seconds to aim and a further 1 second to pull the trigger. It inflicts heavy
damage depending on the targets defence and abilities set up as a result of the EAPR bullets. it also takes 3 seconds to reload if used consecutively. Range:500 metres best used at 350 or under metres can only fire 3 shots before reload (300 OM)

Dasha's dual pistols: requires Ranged proficiency

Two pistols loaded with incendiary bullets, although very inaccurate it is a last resort and is effectively a shotgun at close range because if how fast Dasha can pull the triggers. This takes 5 seconds to reload and the pistols can be knocked out of Dasha's hands. That is of course of they Can be hit out of her hands. Note: incendiary bullets only do additional damage and do not inflict any debuffs. Range Anywhere below 20 metres but most effective at under 5 metres can fire 60 Bullets before both reload or 30 for each pistol
(300 OM)

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the rules of conduct

  New World Hope

War, war never changes.

That was a fact too obvious for expression back in post-Great War and pre-Great War America. Ever since the discovery of the atomic bomb in the 1940s, humanity has since then always had the capacity to destroy itself to surface zero. The Great War in 2077 then had this horrible "what if" situation become a terrifying reality for all the world to see, and experience. Not going into too much detail, let's just say America and China didn't get along with those last few buckets of oil lying around in Alaska. The bombs dropped, and so did everybody else. Billions had died as a result of the explosions that took place, many more from the invisible flames of radiation surrounding the blasts, but not everybody had been so foolish as to duck and cover under their desks, thinking they were safe.

Those like the Vault Dweller, the Chosen One, the Lone Wanderer, or even the Sole Survivor who arose 200 years after the War itself were all too familiar with the Vaults that were crafted before the war, supposedly designed to keep all of pre-War America safe, but with intents much more malicious than that. Human experimentation, dangerously real 'social experiments,' with enough radiation and forced evolutionary genetic engineering as one can muster.

210 years after the Great War however, is where a different story begins. Not starting off in a Vault-Tec underground fallout shelter, but instead just a messenger girl. A courier. The courier. All memories before the Courier Six took her job were nothing more than scattered dreams now. What she was supposed to deliver that day before she got a bullet lodged her head from a mysterious suited man named Benny however, she could definitely remember. That package going by one name, and that name being The Platinum Chip. At first glance, anybody could pass it for some sort of generic old poker chip, and nobody in the Mojave wasteland knew what power it held, nobody but Six, however. Well, her, the man who shot her in the head, and Mr. House, the one she was supposed to deliver this package to. All three of them in a silent competition to get that Chip, and gain control over New Vegas itself, one of the very few places in the Mojave wastes that are at least somewhat salvageable.

Of course though, if anybody but the Courier had gotten to the Chip first, this story might have ended on a very quick note. Using that Chip, Six had unlocked the true potential of Mr. House's army of Securitron robots, and with that, she had overthrown the tyrant of New Vegas, Mr. House himself. Only so much he could have done with a life-extending machine and a few billion dollars, after all. Benny, on the other hand, was already six feet under, much quicker than he anticipated. His death was taken responsible by the Courier as well, the very one he thought he had shot to her seemingly inevitable demise.

Now that those two were out of the way, New Vegas was all for Six to control, and with a bit more work, the rest of the Mojave as well. The New California Republic, more colloquially known as the NCR was no match for the Courier, and no less was the NCR's rival and sworn enemies, Caesar's Legion. Both the NCR and the Legion was two sides of the same coin to Six; corrupt, militaristic, and all of them were almost trying to repeat history, doomed to fail.

In the case of the NCR, they had much better souls than those in Caesar's Legion, but that didn't stop the greedy and scum-ridden higher-ups to suck all the money out of any civilian they could annex into their territories with absurdly high taxes. If anything, they tried much too hard to replicate pre-War America, and any soul would tell you that would just end up in more nuclear bombs being tossed around. Caesar's Legion however, was a group of much more violent warriors, taking their brutal influence from the ancient Romans, who were now lost in history as a result of the Great War.

Neither of them mattered to Six, as both of them would do nothing for the current state of the Mojave, even if they claimed they tried. If anyone was to gain power of the Hoover Dam, it would have to be the Courier, as she knew what truly had to be done to restore the entire world into a new age of peace and prosperity. One had to be free to act for themselves. That's exactly what had happened on the day the second battle for Hoover Dam had taken place.

On one side, Caesar's Legion on the East of the Dam. On the other, the NCR taking represent for the West. Or, so it seemed as if they did, with the Courier on their side. With the help of the NCR, her various travelling companions, and a few deserted factions caught in the middle of this battle, the Courier sent off the NCR with her now upgraded Securitron army just as quickly as they came.

Though New Vegas after the battle for the Dam was almost as perfect as Six envisioned it to be, that didn't stop her to ignore all the other problems taking place outside of her city. With that being said, the Courier's road wasn't quite finished yet. Anybody that knew her could tell you that if she wanted to do something, the Courier would do it with a drive.

So, she continued. Opening the gates of New Vegas once again, leaving her leadership in the hands of the various companions she had trusted, the Courier went out to continue her job as a messenger, and to become the message itself. Though, many problems would soon arise, and she'd get her wish for a New World, but not any world she'd come to expect. That New World, being the Omniverse.

With the dust of the Mojave wasteland slipping under her boots, Six commenced her walk further ahead, giving one final look behind her, towards New Vegas, the city she put back into liberty and order. Well, for the most part, anyways. Looking forward once more, the Courier remained silent, hoping that this whole fiasco wouldn't last longer than it needed to be.

After all, she had a whole nation to look out for now, and the thought kept itching at the back of her mind that she might not have been able to handle it alone. She knew that wasn't true though, people respected her now, out of fear or otherwise. That was something the rest of the Mojave had to understand if they even wanted a chance at getting the power of the Dam, now forever in her clutches.

Checking the Pip-Boy's map stationed on her left arm, Six placed a map marker on the spot of Hidden Valley, hoping to negotiate something along the lines of a deal between the Brotherhood of Steel and herself. After all, they had the technology, and she had to let them know that leaving them, along with the NCR after the battle of the Dam was nothing personal.

Strapping on her breathing mask, the Courier kept walking forward, for what seemed like hours under the blazing hot sun of the Mojave, allowing the Blackjack symbol on the back of her courier duster to be seen by all that oppose her. Well, if there was anybody, that is.

Six paid no mind to it, but not even the mutant insects that usually roamed the lands were nowhere to be found, which was needless to say, strange. No matter, the more bullets she had to spare, the better.

Another few hours of walking passed, nothing new to be seen at all. The Courier was almost bored of it, but she knew better than to get cocky. It was obvious something out there was waiting for her to arrive. Six hadn't felt such a gut instinct in a while, but something inside of her told her it was true. Sighing, Six figured it was about time she'd stop worrying about it, since the heat wasn't doing much to help in that regard. Taking a sip of water from her Vault 13 canteen, the Courier wiped some sweat from her brow, putting the small container back on her side, parallel to her revolver holster.

Almost immediately thereafter, Six heard a .308 round being shot off a few ten meters away. It seemed to have been fired north of her position, but looking back there, all she saw was an overwhelmingly tall vantage point, and then a deep cliff dropping all the way down. Passing by a few large rocks, the Courier sneaked her way over to the end of the cliff, looking downwards. Peeking her head out of the edge of the cliff itself, the Courier saw... Nothing at all.

Just then, she immediately turned around, seeing a bright green laser being pointed towards her chest. It was then she had spoke her first word since this morning, slightly raspy from the lack of vocal communications.

"Damn."

With that wise word being said, Six immediately dived over to one of the rocks she had passed, giving her a good cover for the .50 caliber shot which had already sped it's way over, taking a huge chunk off the rock the Courier was hiding from. Unfortunately enough, she didn't get a good look at whoever was shooting at her, though that little trap they tried to pull was slightly clever, she'd admit. Even if that didn't work though, dealing with an Anti-materiel rifle wasn't exactly something she was looking forward to.

Though most people do have a hard time aiming .50 cal. rifles, she could still tell that whoever this was, he or she wasn't too great at aiming. Checking her Pip-Boy once again, she turned back to equip an incendiary grenade, which should be enough to distract whoever it was trying to kill her. Though, in that short moment she was pulling the pin and throwing it over her cover, she had to wonder which faction this person belonged to. Not like she cared though, anybody who wanted to shoot a few bullets at her better have been prepared to go down fighting.

As soon as she heard the flames of the grenade scatter, Six could see the laser frantically trying to see through the flames. Perfect.

Using this to her advantage, the Courier vaulted over the rock she was taking cover behind, sprinting forward to find another place to take shelter behind. Though it wasn't much, Six could definitely see the bright red feathers coming from her opponent's helmet. No wonder he wasn't the greatest shot, seeing how he was obviously a member of Caesar's Legion. The Courier couldn't help but snark.

"Quality Legion snipers..."

Diving forward once more, Six dodged another one of the Legionnaire's bullets by a hair. She could only imagine how annoyed he must have been right now. Growing tired of hiding, the Courier opened her Pip-Boy's inventory, before grabbing at her Ratslayer varmint rifle. Leaning to her right, The Courier scoped into the Legionnaire's head, before he ducked behind the rock he was hiding behind himself. Groaning in annoyance, the Courier waited for the man to come out of his little peep-hole, only to be waiting in silence.

Finally deciding to get up and investigate once more, the Courier turned around to stand up, almost expecting the Legionnaire to have ran away by now. It was only before she turned to face him again that she saw that this situation might have been a bit more complex than she originally had anticipated. Suddenly, with all the intimidation of the Legion itself, the Courier saw at least a baker's dozen more Legionnaires standing there, all of their weapons out.

A second of silence ensued, before their mighty war-cries could be heard, cursing the name of the Courier for her part in the deaths of both Caesar and his Legate, Lanius. Sighing once again, the Courier waited for them to get over with their pathetic battle grunts, taking out her Blood-Nap knife. While she was here, she might as well have a bit of fun with them, seeing how almost all of the Legionnaires were clutching onto horribly sharpened blades as well.

"Ohhh, little bitch decided to grow a pair!" One of the Legionnaires shouted out, to which the Courier rolled her eyes in response. Twirling her knife now in her dominant hand, she spoke again.

"You done? Because I didn't come here to play, Legion dog," Six spat out, with all the venom in her voice that even a Cazadore would be able to handle. With those little quips being exchanged, the Legionnaires groaned in annoyance, before yelling again, charging with whatever weapon they had available to them.

A few of the Legionnaires with their short-swords already had closed the distance with Six. Though they were almost close to Super Mutants in the "mindless brute" department, the Courier had to admit, the Legion weren't fools in the way they fought. They took no hesitation to attack all at once, but then again, they were just about as slow as your generic Super Mutant, making it easier for Six to dodge out of her way, in which she did in a heartbeat, blocking another couple swings with her knife in all different directions.

Deciding to put things to an end quick, the Courier used every opening she had available to her to slice and stab into each and every one of the Legionnaire's throats that even tried to pull swings at her. A few of the other Legionnaires sat back a while, mostly the ones with the guns, making sure this was a 'fair fight,' at least by their standards anyways.

Looking at the few Legionnaires with their guns down in the not-so far distance, the Courier was distracted enough to be completely oblivious to the fact another one of the Legion's swords were coming straight to her side. Feeling an extremely painful spike of adrenaline rush through her as the feeling of horribly cold steel ran through her flesh, she looked down to see that said sword running through her entire body, left to right. Already feeling blood coming up to her throat, the Courier looked off into the direction of the now smug Legionnaire that had recently stabbed her.

So, she spat at him. This time, literally. Thankfully enough, he wasn't one of the more wiser ones in the group to actually wear googles, so his now blood-stained and spit covered eyes caused him to scream in uncomfortably strange pain. Though her plan in giving herself some room to breathe worked, Six still had to deal with the unfortunate fact that a sword was still lodged in her body like a pedestal. Falling to one of her knees, the Courier grabbed at the hilt of the blade, pulling it out with a shrill gasp of pain as quickly as she could.

Reaching behind her, the Courier took out a few syringes of Med-X, before stabbing her barely covered arm with the strange doses of painkillers. The pain started to numb, but it was nonetheless hell to deal with. She counted at least four Legionnaires already dead by her hands, the blood satisfying to look at as it spilled to the sandy ground beneath all of them. As strangely pleasing as it was to look at, the Courier still couldn't help but remind herself that there was a lot more of these Legion scum to deal with.

Clenching at one of her now gaping wounds, Six decided she had to ignore the ridiculous amount of blood she was currently losing for now, instead focusing on another one of the Legionnaires coming at her with a Super sledge hammer. Not getting back up to her feet until the very moment the Legionnaire swung his mighty hammer towards her, Six waited until the very moment it was about to come colliding with her face. As quickly as the hammer came down, Six hopped straight back up, taking both of her hands and using the momentum already gained by the Legionnaire's swing to pull it from his hands, before giving him a heartfelt kick in the groin, making him fall down in horribly gut-wrenching pain.

As soon as his face hit the dusty floor of the Mojave wasteland, the Courier took the Legionnaire's super-sledge, and slamming it down on his face, taking a second to let all the pain sink in before activating the Super sledge's high tech mechanism which caused the hammerhead to break into his skull with a fast moving piston, causing the screams he was previously emitting to stop immediately. Dropping the hammer to the floor, Six looked around her, waiting for any other Caesar-worshiping trash to come her way.

All that was left, unfortunately for her, was the remaining few with the guns, all with their weapons aimed. If the Courier had to admit one sad fact about life, it was that it always has some way to put odds against you and completely screw you over somehow. Odds are always against you, but they're just numbers two-to-one, after all.

"You best hope that you all don't miss with that first shot, because you won't be getting another one," the Courier boasted in a scarily quiet tone, causing a few of those Legionnaires aiming at her to shiver slightly.

All around her, she could see nothing but barrels being pointed at her, all loaded and ready to fire, yet they weren't pulling any triggers for some reason. Do they want to humiliate her by waiting until she slipped onto her deathbed, or were they all really that scared? How fun, indeed.

Taking in a deep breath, the Courier closed her eyes to relax a bit, thinking about what exactly she should do here. It was then she got such a dumb and foolish idea, that it just might have worked here. Casually checking her Pip-Boy once again, she started poking at it's menus, obviously about to equip something in her vast arsenal of weapons. She could see a few of the Legionnaires whispering to each other, completely clueless to what she was doing. A few moments pass as Six reaches to her side to get her Vault 13 canteen and take yet another sip of water.

Closing her eyes once again, all of a sudden, the Legionnaire's eyes were met with the sight of the Courier pulling out a Fat Man mini-nuke launcher onto her shoulder, immediately causing a lot of the gun-wielding Legion troopers to start moving backwards as slowly as they all could.

"If I even hear one bullet being fired off here, I'll shoot this and kill us all with the blast, since you Legion mucus love huddling close together," Six began, "and if you all think you can kill me before I'll be able to fire it off, just remember that I already came back from the grave after taking two in the skull. We all can come to agreements, yes?" The Courier chuckled, aiming the Fat Man in the direction of few of the Legionnaires already beginning to scoot themselves backwards, already shaking in their boots.

Of course, she wasn't actually going to fire this thing off, but it was really surprising to see how they believed she would have. Then again, even Six convinced herself that she was damn near nuts sometimes, but she supposed that was part of her charm, if she had any at all at this point. Dismissing the thought, the Courier continued to watch as the Legionnaires began to lower their weapons, continuing to whisper among themselves. It was then that Six used this opening to her advantage, throwing off another one of her incendiary grenades in their general direction, jumping into cover as she did so. Though she did it faster than even the Legionnaires could even react, that still didn't stop her from gasping as soon as she landed, seeing as the wound in her side she almost forgot about was starting to return, with painful effect.

The group of Legion soldiers started cursing, and then screaming in agony as the burning hot fires of phosphorus-induced flames surrounded them. Jumping out of cover with her Lucky revolver in hand, she shot down the already inflamed Legionnaires, finishing them off quickly. Thinking she had defeated them all, she speed loaded her revolver, before putting it back in her holster.

As soon as she got a moment to herself and enough room to breathe, the Courier already began to feel the seeping wound getting worse and worse, seeing as it was still dripping blood. Still clutching at it, Six began to slowly walk forward, continuing to look at the blurry image of her blood spilling from her sides.

Though that was bad enough, that couldn't prepare the poor old Courier for what was about to come next, no idea that she was about to start walking down a new road in life thinking her first would be her last. She would soon be proven wrong, as all of a sudden, the final one of the Legionnaires hiding behind another one of those abundant desert rocks jumped out of cover, and before the Courier could pull her pistol from her side, a ear-piercingly loud shotgun round was shot into Six's chest, making her fly backwards with a slight muffled scream.

It was then, time seemed to slow down, still alive, but definitely not kicking. Again, this happened to the Courier, and again, this would be the start of a new adventure, as cheesy as it sounded. She kept looking ahead, her body still not hitting any of the Mojave dirt, looking upwards at the Legion soldier, raising his shotgun into the air, celebrating his victory as he watched the legendary Courier, envoy of New Vegas, fall to her inevitable death.

Closing her eyes, for some reason, the Courier felt a great sense of age loom over her, as she was entirely convinced this would be the point in which her life would be put to rest. A single tear fell down her cheek, hoping that her friends, who she now considered family, would take over as leaders of the city that she had taken over.

A few moments passed, closing her eyes, waiting for her grave to be set in stone, yet nothing happened. Time slowed, and it kept slowing down, until it stopped. She couldn't open her eyes anymore, even though she felt as if she could. All she could see was nothing.

Nothing but the deep, dark abyss of the Void. It was only a few seconds later, her feet hit the pitch-black ground beneath her, and saw a strange light forming the silhouette of a man, and a wide smile on his face as he looked forward in the eyes of Courier Six.

  Pokemon Nuzlocke-Omniverse theme
Posted by: Victor Wolfe - 08-06-2015, 01:10 PM - Forum: The Arcade - Replies (3)

Ok so as a few of you may know I love the pokemon games, have done since I first got ruby as a kid, I have played just about every game released in the UK, but as I have grown older I found that they became a bit to easy for me, that is when I discovered the nuzlocke challenges, these are special rule sets that players can stick by to make the game more challenging.

Rule 1:.You can only catch the first pokemon you meet in a new area, if you ko it, no pokemon for you.
Rule 2: if your pokemon faints you can not use it for the rest of the run (perma death) and if all your team faint the run is over.
Rule 3: no same pokemon , so if I run into a pokemon I have already caught or have the pre evolution for , I cannot catch a pokemon on that route.

there are other variations of this and thus I have a few rules I set myself

Rule 3: no using the Legendary pokemon, they are OP as hell in the new games and make it a cake walk.
Rule 4:Nickname everything- this rule is pretty common among nuzlockers as it builds more of a connection with your team
Rule 5: Shiny clause( If i run into a shiny pokemon I can catch it, just not use it, they are like a 1 in 8k chance.)

So another thing I like to do is fit a naming theme as I suck when it comes to nicknames, for example back in my Fire Red nuzlocke I picked anime characters from shounen jump shows, and in black I picked comic book characters.

So the point of all of this is that I bought both pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire the day they came out and have played all the way through ruby as it is my main game, but have not touched Sapphire yet, So I decided that I would nuzlocke it, and for the naming theme I decided on the Omniverse.

So I put a whole bunch of Users from here into a random name picker and started playing and this is how it has went so far

I picked Mudkip as I had torchic in OR and i do not want to use a starter thats mega is 4x weak to ice, I forgot to nickname it though, will change it at the nickname guy.

I caught a zigzagoon on the first route, the name picker decided it would be called Omni, I would have rather got a pochiana but Omni will do some good for teaching HMs to.

I then caught a wingull on route 103, now named Jak Mar, a pretty good catch, sad that its 4x weak to electric but could be worse.

I got really lucky on route 102 and caught a lotad now named Protoman, so long as I do not see its water typeing being a problem it will probably see a lot of use in my team.

I ran into a Tailow on route 104 but it got critical hitted and died.

Petalburg woods where interesting as I caught a Slakoth who is now named Tartaros. Will be useful as a vigiroth but i doubt it will stay in my team, truant is an awful ability. Still never had one on a Nuzlocke before or used one on my team, and that is one of the points of the challenge, to make me use pokemon i would never normally use, so as I am about to enter the first city here is how the team looks

Mudkip: lv 13
Omni(Zigzagoon): lv6
Jak Mar(Wingull): lv 7
Protoman(Lotad):lv 9
Tartaros(Slakoth) lv7

Nothing has died yet but there have been some scares , Jak Mar nearly got killed by a wumple with a critical hit and I nearly lost a few to a shroomish that paralyzed a few of my team. I will post updates on how it is going each day that I play.
