Animbus

Character name: Animbus

Character source: original

Character history: Animbus is an elemental dragon. He was born in a time where humans hunted his kind and traded them for a sack of coins. His family was always running since his family where the last elemental type dragons, this meant that the other dragons looked up at them. Once the dragons started to be hunted his family traveled to the farthest part of the mountain were they thought they would be safe. After two months of this conflict his mother gave birth to Animbus, he was the only child. His parents knew that having an egg would bring a lot of trouble. since people were hunting dragons for money an elemental dragons egg would be twice the money, this meant people would hunt for the egg.

Two month after Animbus mom laid the egg more and more hunters searched all over the mountains. Until one day a spy was able to find the cave in which Animbus was hiding. The human ran towards the city to inform people about the location of Animbus. When the hunter got out of the cave the mother of Animbus chased after him trying to stop him from telling everyone. What animus's mother didn't know was that at the bottom of the mountain there was a group of hunters waiting, when the spy got to the bottom of the mountain the other hunters fired bullets and arrows to Animbus' mother, by the time Animus' dad made it to the location were his wife was, it was too late. The hunters had killed her and salvaged her body. From that moment he knew that if he wanted to raise Animbus they would both need to leave.

That same night Animus's dad graved him and carried him to a distant mountain were no humans were allowed. They both lived in the distant cave for more then ten months, after ten months Animbus was born. The only problem with Animbus was that he was born with the element of darkness, that was the way he got his name. Animbus was born with darkness in his body because his dad and him were both hiding in the shadows for the past ten months. This didn't concern his dad, he was just happy that he was born. For the next month his dad would go out and bring him food. But after the month past, his dad said to him "Its Time" Animbus knew exactly what he meant, it was time for him to learn how to fly.

He spread his wings and waited for his dad to tell him what the next step was. His dad walked back and forth, but when Animbus less expected it his dad pushed him off of the cliff. His dad jumped off the cliff and told him " Move your wings up and down" Animbus tried as hard as he could, but right before he hit the floor he spreads his wings straight and helped him make it to the floor safely. At the bottom his dad laugh and told him that it was ok, every one had the same experience. he questioned his father about his mom were about so he asked him" What happened to my mom" His dad looked agonized. They practice his flying every day for about three months, until eventually one day he got it, he learned to fly. From that day they would both fly and travel all over the land learning something new each day.

Except for one day were his dad was at the bottom of the cliff, Animbus flew down form the cliff, when he made it to the bottom his dad looked at him and told him, "Do you still want to know what happened to your mother" Animbus nodded with excitement. His father told him that the main reason why his mother wasn't there with them was because back where they used to live the human race was hunting and exterminating them for just a couple of coins. His dad told him that his mother died trying to protect him from the humans.

After hearing the story Animbus eyes filled with tears and flew back to the cave at the top of the cliff. His dad gave him a couple of minutes alone, after a couple of minutes Animbus flew back to the bottom of the cliff, he realized that he had to be strong. When they were both getting ready to go an unexpected storm came, from the distance they notice a group of hunters heading their way. Animbus's dad told him to hide, his dad ran towards the hunters and manage to kill everyone except for one. The last hunter manage to hurt his dad, at that point rage managed to filled his body, he ran towards the hunter and was able to kill him. Animbus ran towards his dad but by the time he got there it was too late. From that moment his body filled with rage. One day while one of his rampage on the near by city he got transported to another world called omnivores. He became engaged by the thwart his plans to bend all of humanity to his will and destroy those who defy him. (Sorry if you have trouble reading, is because English is my second language)

Animbus opens his mouth and charges dark energy for three seconds. Once charged, he shoots out a shadow-like orb of energy one foot in diameter, which travels in a straight trajectory with the speed of a baseball pitch. The energy explodes on impact, but has no area of affect, and deals a large amount of damage.

Claw Swipe(Physical Strength, 300) Animbus uses his claws to swipe up to a meter in front of him in a wide arc. The claws deal a hefty amount of damage to those it hits. The claws are five inches.

  Phantom Chasing Phantoms...
Posted by: Tearen Wover - 09-29-2015, 09:52 PM - Forum: The Vasty Deep - Replies (8)

Well. That settled that. Nealaphh now had no choice but to find a secret way into the deeper levels of Coruscant. Still, the god-mind would be remiss to harbor any sort of self pity for its decision in letting Rebecca go with Okor. The girl was not necessary to the success of its current objective, and it would be better for her to get out of the Vasty Deep, where she was likely being sought after by Rapture, if the latest postings on the Bounty Boards were anything to go by. Limiting itself to a single option for the success of any given task was not thinking like a true god-mind. Nealaphh would have to hold this thought closer to its core in the future. Ever since coming to the Omniverse and being isolated to this singular form, the shadow could gradually feeling the vast faculties of its mental patterns regressing to that of a more mortal ken. It was everything in Nealaphh's power to be able to keep accumulating Omnilium quickly enough so as to be able to reconstruct its internal structure to accommodate the true vastness of its mental capabilities. In that regard, it was important for Nealaphh to plan out where it was going to go now.

Okor had proven to be a dead-end when it came to finding a secret route, contrary to what had been hoped, but that did not mean that no such route existed. Dealing with hypotheticals was something that a god-mind such as Nealaphh excelled at, due to his ability to process a vast amount of variables all at the same time. Ultimately, the most important goal to establish was getting the raw materials for the Gigaton Hammer in to Coruscant. If Nealaphh was unable to locate a secret gate, it could, potentially, smuggle the goods into Coruscant through the gate in Carrefore, but being that the cargo was going to be shipped alongside frozen produce, it might become slightly more conspicuous. After all, it wasn't often that food items were shipped out of the Endless Dunes. Still, it was better than trucking it in directly through the usual channels. The alternative would be to try and negotiate the shipment of less high profile cargo to travel alongside the Goron ore, but this would take more time than the alternative and would have no guarantee of success versus the prior option.

None of this was pertinent, however, until the god-mind was sure that a better option was not available, and Nealaphh was not at that point yet. Given the dramatic nature of The Smiling One's ideal world, it was likely that the gate would be located in a hard to reach or exotic location. Continuity was, however, also important, at least as far as Nealaphh could tell. As such, a gate to a highly technological Verse such as Coruscant was unlikely to be in a wild or natural setting...though it wasn't completely impossible. Tier Four was less technologically advanced than other levels of the city, however, so that was also a variable to take in to consideration. Honestly, it was seeming as though the most likely place to search for such a Gate would be back in the city of Rapture. This was a poor option, for a multitude of reasons, however. The god-mind needed a location that it could enter without any notice of any sort being taken. There had to be another option. Blue Flame Island came to mind. Being a haven for pirate activity, there was a very large likelihood that any number of rogue factions had managed to erect a gate that would serve Nealaphh's needs.

This would require some negotiation, but at least brigands were easier to deal with (and more predictable) than the Empire. The god-mind would likely have to try and cement relations with one of the more powerful pirate captains stationed on the island, which would probably require raising its bounty to even higher levels than they already were. This would have to be a note of caution, as the islands' inhabitants would probably very much enjoy trying to take Nealaphh's life if they were aware of the vast price on its head. On the other hand, given the nature of the island and the verse as a whole, the level of technological exposure, let lone literacy, left much to be desired on a lawless island such as Blue Flame. If nothing else, it would serve as a decent base of operations as Nealaphh conducted further searches into possible locations for an illicit gate.

Settled on a plan of action, the shadow spent a few minutes conjuring its tetragonal oceanic transport once more, slowly wading into the waves and letting the water soak deep into its heavy black robe. The shining, black glass polygon sank away into the chum ridden waves beyond the shoreline of the nameless atoll just east of Costa Del Sol, carrying with it a mind that still worked furiously in an attempt to mitigate the collected sum of its knowledge. After a few waves lapped at the edge of the fluffy sand, any trace of the space marines, Nealaphh or its erstwhile charge were erased completely...

Switching Alt: Casey Jones to Brother Devon
Posted by: Kylo Ren - 09-29-2015, 07:17 PM - Forum: Joining - Replies (6)

Name: Devon Wilson Whilts aka Brother Devon

Source:OC

Physical Description: (originals only)
Height:Six foot even
Weight:One hundred and eighty-five lbs
Hair ColourBig Grinark brown
Eye colour:Cobalt blue
Build: Just slightly above average, not fat, but nor is he all muscle bound. He has the build similar to that of someone who grew up working on a small farm.

At a first glance Devon looks very much out of place. His hair is a little over shoulder length and looks like it was combed with his fingers only. He is normally seen with a beard, this is due to his upbringing more then anything else. Now and then he will try and trim it or shave it but it rarely lasts and eventually grows back to it's messy state. While his hair and beard look messy he is far from unclean as he prides himself on washing every change he gets, even if it is in a local river or pond. He knows getting dirty is something that will always happen, but he tries to rarely stay dirty for long. He has runes tattooed on him from the base of his neck down to his toes. His clothing hides most of these and he wears gloves to hide the tattoos on his hands, though a small fraction of the tattooed runes can be seen on the lower part of his neck. His clothes are mismatched and mostly gathered from the people he has met during his travels, or purchased from thrift stores if he has had the money. His wardrobe mainly consists of faded jeans and brightly coloured t-shirts that are usually oranges, yellows, or even reds at times. The only thing of his clothing that looks out of place, as it seems to be rather new and of a better quality then the rest, is a white leather jacket which is a cherished object that he will never get rid of. He also wears combat boots he was given as a gift, as well as a simple wooden amulet with the symbol of the order carved into it that he wears around his neck on a simple black cord.

Personality/Basics:
Age:27
Birth date: June 4th
Birthplace: Barton City, NY (an alternate version of New York City).
Hobbies:Studying the scrolls and tomes he pilfered from the order before he left, helping people, travel!
LikesTongueeople, life, bettering himself to help those around him
Dislike: Some Non-Humans, Alcohol, vows of chastity

Devon is not stupid, but can sometimes be a little too trusting of people. While he is suspicious of anyone that appears to be non-human he generally believes that there is a sense of fellowship between all humans, male and female, and will generally trust them more then he would anyone other 'creatures' he encounters. He is always studying, not only his tomes, but everything around him he sees that is new to him. This is because he hasn't spent much time in the world outside the monastery so a lot of things are new and wondrous to him. Because of this he asks a lot of questions, sometimes an annoying amount, so others can only find him tolerable in small doses. Like all at the monastery he has taken the vows but believes that some are needed while others are simply foolish. He takes to heart his vows of sobriety and poverty, while the first thing he wished to be rid of was his vow of chastity as he never liked that one at all! He believes that all of man kind should become close enjoying both emotional and physical fellowships of all kinds.

History

Personal History:
Devon was born to the Whilts family on June 4th, and lead a relatively happy life while he was with them. His parents, Troy and Felicia Whilts, were very outspoken people that were not content with the way things were going with the world. While they were not against the other races that seemed to inhabit the world they lived in, they did think that human survivability and advancement should come before anything else and that the other races were perhaps stunting this. They also did not believe in most religions, finding all the facts presented to be too contradictory or flat out preposterous.

This brought them to the order's attention and they were approached by one of the order's public agents. After many discussions they decided that Devon would be sent to the monastery to learn and help further the cause of humanity's advancement in the world. Devon's last memory of his parents was when they took him to a fireworks display, this was the day before they sent him away at the age of five.

Devon had become a Foundling of Ordo lux lucis quod vita, a monastery who take in anyone, male or female, as long as they are human and come from families the believe similar to what the order does. This particular group believes that there are no gods and man's fate is in it's own hands. The existence of demons, angles, and all the other races are explained away as “They are all very powerful creatures and the like, not minions of any god.”

From his first day at the monastery the lessons began. He was drilled in history, philosophy, math, whatever they thought he would need. There were not only lessons but all the daily chores, upkeep of the orders small farm, meditation sessions, and sermons, all of which continued for years. It wasn't until he was twelve that he moved up to the rank of apprentice, learning to open himself to the energy of the universe and shape it with his will. Though at this stage he was only taught very basic things and the runes that were used to summon the energy were painted on so they could be washed off when the lessons were over.

He was also taught basic self defence and started to train with weapons till it was decided the sword would best suit him, his love of Roman history drove him to take the gladius as his weapon of choice. It was during this period in his life at the monastery that he started to really notice how removed the order was from the rest of the world. He would talk with his fellow apprentices, and some of his teachers about it, only to get the same old answers. It was to prevent the order from clashing with other races and people with different ideas, as this had caused a few wars in the distant past. Eventually he stopped asking the questions, but they were always there in the back of his mind. He continued with his lessons and grew close to some of his brothers and sisters in the order but nothing ever happened due to the enforced vows of chastity, another thing that bugged him very much.

When he turned twenty he had advanced in his studies to the point where he joined the rank of the Accepted. This was when the runes used to connect a brother or sister to the energies of the universe, the fire of life they call it, were permanently tattooed on them all the way from their shoulders to their feet. He would start to be taught all the more complex spells, though it would start with minor offensive spells and work up from there. When he progressed far enough into his training he could learn one of the top level spells if he chose but this was generally discouraged as most of them had rather negative effects not only on the intended targets but the caster as well.

While he chose to learn one and felt first hand it's effects he decided to never use it again unless it was a last resort and there was no other option. He was also taught to try and rely more on his blade then his power because you never knew when you could be cut off from the fire of life and only your weapon could save your life. Sadly he never really progressed too far in his combat training, as it seemed his skill for the arcane was far superior to any of his physical talents. He spent 7 years as an Accepted and was very close to become a full Brother, the moment the final tattoos that bound you to the order would be added to your forehead and cheeks, when he decided to leave. He knew the order had become far too removed from the rest of the world and made the decision to go out and travel, learn the state of things in the world at large, and how the order could once again reintegrate itself into society and take on a more active role.

His plans were to take what he could, go out and learn everything he could and return back to the order and give a rousing speech that would spur them into action. Sadly somewhere along the way things went wrong and he got horridly lost. After a few days of panic he met a kind couple that took them into their house. While they were the overly religious sort he kept quiet on the order's view of 'there are no gods' out of respect. It was during a conversation with them that the notion that everything happens for a reason came up and this helped calm Devon greatly, maybe there was a reason he got lost. During his meditation that night he decided that he was lost for a purpose, to go out and learn all that he could about the world and that when he had learned what he needed to his mind would open up and show him the way back home.

After staying with the couple for one more day he took his leave of them, but not before they gifted him with a white leather jacket that had belong to their son who had died the year previous and who Devon reminded them of greatly. He thanked them and vowed to cherish it always. It has been months since that day and he has gathered clothing and other items from various places, living off charity of others and his own hard work as his vow of poverty does not allow him to gather wealth for himself. He uses whatever money earned to buy only the bare essentials and then gives the rest to people who need it more.

While he knows his parents are probably still out there he does not actively seek them out. They were kind people and he loved them very much, probably still does, but he has a new purpose as well as a new family that he is devoted to. It was during this journey of discovery, the few months after he had left the old couples house, that Omni snatched him from his world and sent him to the Omniverse.
Roman Gladius:
Weight: 2.2lbs
Length: 33 inches
Blade length: 26 inches
Width: 2.8 inches
Devon always loved Roman history so when he had to choose a sword he went with the Roman Gladius. Gladii were two-edged for cutting and had a tapered point for stabbing during thrusting. A solid grip was provided by a knobbed hilt added on, possibly with ridges for the fingers. Blade strength was achieved by welding together strips, in which case the sword had a channel down the center, or by fashioning a single piece of high-carbon steel, rhomboidal in cross-section. The owner's name was often engraved or punched on the blade.

Light of peace (First level spell): (300 OM, requires Buff.)

The user channels the fire of life in to another person, but not the caster themselves, filling them and providing then with an adrenaline like rush,. This allows them to focus without tiring for a short period of time. It won't really give them any extra strength or speed, just that they could keep fighting past the point when they would normally collapse from exhaustion. Activated with a chant of “Videlicet meus mens” as well as physical contact between Devon and the intended target.

Since he is effectively giving his own energy to someone else use of this move puts him at a disadvantage as he gets tired much faster then he normally would. It also means that if he fights or anything like that after using this there is a chance he could faint.

Another variation of this is an external use that allows the user to infuse energy into an object causing it to give off a green glow very much like glow sticks used for cave exploring and the like. This ability is useful for it provides not only light, put a light source that can be passed off for someone to use, as long as they stay in the area of the caster (no more then five feet away). If they get to far away the effects dissipate and the light is lost. It is a very soothing light and does help people in it's glow to calm ever so slightly. This power is activated with a simple chant of “Lux lucis meus via” ((This second part is mostly RP fodder so I didn't add the other 300 OM for that if that is cool?))

Weapon Enhancement (Second level spell): (300 Om, Requires Buff)

Advances the usefulness of a weapon for a set amount of time, but only the weapons of an ally and not his own. The weapon in question would be slightly more sturdy and do more damage then it normally would. He is basically investing his own energy into the object, causing a slight increase in effectiveness. Only really useful on traditionally melee weapons. Not good for “modern weaponry”, things with too many moving parts or ones that use chemical reactions, like guns and explosives. Basically swords, maces, axes, and staves are all good! Activated with a chant of “Succurro telum opus” and physical contact with the weapon in question. Lasts for approximately five minutes and gives the weapon a slight glow.

In a combat situation this would mean it causes the weapons to do more damage. Use of this spell takes up his own energy, but even more of it then a lower level buff. The chance for him to faint or even go unconscious if he continues to fight for a long period of time afterwards is greatly increased.

Spirit Shield (Third level spell): (600 OM, Personal and group modes, Requires Area Shield)

This creates an energy shield, a bubble that surrounds him and his friends, though it is only a few meters in diameter. It last a limited time, as with all spells that have time limits this is based of the users will with a min/max of 3 to 5 minutes, but can be dissipated with enough blows or even one very strong blow. The caster can feel each blow that connects with the shield, and if the hit to the shield is hard enough it might even damage the caster. Still can be very useful in a tight spot.

Can also be channelled as a personal shield, which looks like the Roman Scutumus. Same limitations as the group shield. It is a large rectangle curved shield, 41 inches high and 16 inches across. Appears on his left arm.

Firewall (Fourth Level Spell); (300 Om, Requires Area Attack)

It is as the name implies a wall of fire. It can be up to 10 feet high and either stretch out for 20 feet, and up to 4 four feet thick. It is very tough to put out this fire, as a lot of energy has gone into creating it, but it is not impossible. It does last for a limited time though, again five minutes or so based on caster will power. The flames burn hotter than any normal fire, but the 'wall' does not physically prevent anyone from passing through it. However, due to this heat, anyone who chooses to pass through it will be horribly burned. Tiers out the caster immensely, a lot of rest and food would be needed after a battle if this was used. The wall goes up right in front of the caster and is only mainted as long as the person who summed it does not move. If they back away/leave/ move to avoid attack the fire is dismissed leaving only charred ground underneath. Activated with a chant of “Aestuo perspicuus parietis incendia”

(Spent OM 4600)

Character name: Shadow Erebos

Character source: Original

Character history: Shadow was born in the dark forest of his home realm Almina. For 6 years he has lived there with his mother, father, and late younger sister. Then, one day, a group of poachers, hellbent on capturing rare species, found his secluded home. Shadow and Elise, his sister, were playing out in the forest before the attack. However, when they heard the roars of the rest of the family, they knew that something was wrong. They rushed back as quickly as they could, but they ran into one of the poachers on the way. Said poacher picked up his gun, aimed for Elise, and shot. The shot wasn't meant to kill, only injure enough for capture, but due to Shadow frantically tacking the man in an attempt to save Elise.... the bullet hit her right between the eyes...... Shadow ran away that day, never returning. This event has been the cause of many issues later in his life. Shadow has recently disappeared from Almina, no one is sure where he went but they hope for his safe return. He is now in the Omniverse.

Physical Description: Shadow stands at 7'0. He's thin, but he does have muscle. Due to his build, Shadow's quick and light on his feet, but can hit rather hard. He's an albino, having pale skin, white hair and a red eye. His other eye is silver. Shadow has multiple scars on his face and body, 4 on his right eye, 1 on his left, many on his wings and 5 on his tail. Due to his draconian heritage, Shadow appears to be a dragon-human hybrid. He wears a white overcoat with blue trim, a black turtleneck sweater, grey jeans, and has bandages wrapped around his dragon-like feet. He has a large scythe strapped to his back, which he uses in combat, said scythe is named Mortem Orbisque.

Dark Claw Slash ((300)) : (Requires Physical Strength Proficiency) - Shadow coats his 1/2 inch claws in a weak, dark energy that strengthens them. Can be used in rapid succession.

Normal Claw Slash ((300)) : (Requires Physical Strength Proficiency) - Similar to Dark Claw slash, but without the dark energy, therefore, doing less damage
I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct. :Yes

  Where am I?
Posted by: Shadow Erebos - 09-29-2015, 04:05 PM - Forum: The Nexus - Replies (2)

Darkness.....Darkness is all I see..... I feel..... weightless..... what's going on? I open my eyes to find myself in an unfamiliar place. I look around frantically, desperately trying to find something familiar to me, but alas, my search failed. "Where am I?" I ask to no one in particular. 'What's going on? Why can't I remember anything?' I thought. 'Well, let's see what I do remember, my name is Shadow Erebos, I'm a draconic creature, and I had a group of friends at some point....' I sigh, slightly annoyed with the fact that can't remember anything past that. "I might as well start moving, I need to figure out where I am," I say finally. With that I got up, dusted myself off, and started walking with no real destination in mind.

  Variable Super Moves

Soon, I want to buy a Tier 1 Super Attack that has Sackboy do one out of three random things. An electrical uppercut, a kick, and a skateboard uppercut. Does this Super Move cost more because it's a variable move?

  Not in LittleBigPlanet Anymore
Posted by: Asriel Dreemurr - 09-29-2015, 03:33 PM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

The Burlap Chap himself walked to the front window looked out of his cardboard Pod onto LittleBigPlanet with a smile, he had had done enough work for a long while. He just saved the planet of Bunkum from the villainous Titans. It was a long journey, but with the help of Oddsock, Toggle and Swoop, not to mention the Creator Curators, they had done it. He stood in the middle of the floor and then a circle right where he was standing lowered, and took him to his bedroom. He plopped on the bed, and fell asleep blissfully unaware that Omni just now took control of his Pod.

“Error 42,” said the Pod computer in its feminine British voice, “Hacker detected. Hacker detected. Antivirus protocol destroyed.”

A rip in reality opened and the burlap doll was sucked in.

Quote:You wake up in a black void, and there is a grinning silhouette in the darkness. You find you cannot speak, but somehow it seems to know what questions you want to ask, even without you asking.

(OOC: Sackboy doesn’t speak anyway.)

Quote:“My name is Omni. This is not the world you know. This is the Omniverse. You interest me, so I have made you part of it. The Omniverse is a place that reflects the wishes of those who are part of it. But! There are rules. I will explain them only once, so listen carefully.”

Sackboy nodded his head, thoroughly fascinated with the concept of the Omniverse.

Quote:Omni hands you a glimmering orb in which all the colors of the rainbow coalesce. “This is Omnilium. It’s what ties the Omniverse together. Without it, you are nothing. With it, anything you desire can be yours. But you will need more than this. If you desire it enough, you will find it. You will find that using it comes naturally. Just think of what you desire most.

Sackboy felt stronger than he had in years holding that glowing orb. It soon absorbed into his body.

Quote:“You will not be alone in the Omniverse. There are others. Of course, they, too desire Omnilium. Do not fear death. For as long as you interest me, you will be reborn.

“That’s all you need to know right now. You’ll figure out the rest soon enough. I’ll be watching … and waiting.”

The darkness fades away, and you find yourself in a vast, empty white landscape, in front of a fountain.

Sackboy opened his eyes wide and spun around, observing the strange white void. He saw eight gates, each with different traits, in the distance. He had a feeling that this world will be his greatest adventure yet.

It was going to take a long time to walk to one of them. Who knows what threats may lurk in the endless white?

After some pondering, he figured he was going to make a car using Omnilium. He opened his Popit to try to find an Omnilium tab, but was just as he feared: there was no tab for Omnilium. But there was something else interesting he found: there was another page of the Popit that was blank. Could it be that this Omnilium could potentially give him new abilities or the combat tools he was given during that strange event when Polygon Man gathered people from different dimensions to fight?

He reasoned that he should try to concentrate on the image of a red convertible with a lever instead of a steering wheel for as long as it takes and sat cross-legged. It does take a long time to design an effective car back home. After about five minutes of meditating, a red convertible with a lever instead of a steering wheel materialized out of thin air. He gave himself an imaginary high-five. He opened the left door, scooted to the middle, sat down, and pulled the lever. Off he went to the shining steel gate of Coruscant.

  Downfalls and Awakenings

Quote:Takes place after Dante falls unconscious in the Nexus.
He was aware of his waking moments slipping away, his mind giving way to sleep - so, therefore, when Dante peeled his eyes open again to find himself someplace different, he was understandably confused. His sitting position was tilted back more from where he laid slumped against the fountain, and Dante realized he was higher than he should've been if he were still on the ground. Obviously, he wasn't.

It took a moment for his vision to clear and his brain register the sights around. The flickering of lights above, the worn-down gloom of the walls, the sputtering electronics of a retro jukebox... Was this Devil May Cry? Was he back home? No, it couldn't be that easy- quickly, the thought clicked in Dante's head that this was the spectral form of Devil May Cry that Zangetsu had created for him. Yet it couldn't have been, for the office still retained the weak, ill-maintained atmosphere Dante had grown accustomed to. Had it changed between then and now? Or had it never been different?

Cautiously, the devil hunter removed his feet from where he would prop them on the desk, to sit up and remove himself from the creaky leather swivel chair. The man wasn't sure of what to think or feel of this, as he felt so little right now.

Dante looked around more carefully at the shop's contents; the Devil Arms on the wall were gone, the upholstery on the chairs were ruined, the desk was marred and damaged - overall, the shop actually seemed even worse than he remembered it. Of course, if this was supposed to be Dante's "inner world," then the place actually did a good job at reflecting his current state of mind.

He didn't stay long, for whatever reason. The Son of Sparda found himself drawn outside, as if curiosity was waiting there tugging a leash around Dante's neck. Boots clomped against the battered wood floor, and leather-gloved hands raised to push open the double doors to his shop. A swirl of bitter, black wind flowed through his body as the entrance opened, and Dante shivered as if suddenly caught in a freezer. The dark world outside, illuminated only by a blood moon, glowered with death and ruin- and the familiarity of his home.

This was the time where he had been awakened. There had been a crazy party, with the unlocking of the Demon World as the main event. And when it had gone awry, the Sons of Sparda stepped forth to correct the damage. It was when Dante had fought his own brother for the fate of their amulets - and lost the fight. It was when Dante had fought his own brother for the fate of their world - and lost this brother.

There, just blocks away, the Temen-ni-gru stood as a silent, towering gate. As if this truly were the night of his awakening, as if it had never ended before, and the suffering Dante lived through those years ago were for naught.

Then, would it change now?

His vigor half-renewed, determination and painful memories bubbling in his heart, Dante stepped forth out of the shop. His hands slipped away from the doors and let them fall closed, and as the sound of shutting gave way to the howl of the black wind, he announced: "And we're supposed to be twins... right, Vergil?"

The battered buildings, half-hearted neon signs, wrecked vehicles, and shattered streets all around offered no response. The lone Son of Sparda then merely began to walk again - the sound of boots on torn, gravelly pavement resounding for the dead world to hear.
