Mock Fight: Sans vs Athena Myalo
Posted by: Sans - 12-05-2015, 12:03 PM - Forum: The Whateververse, Man - Replies (7)

"say, what did the bottle say to the bartender? i'll beer right back!"

Sans couldn't help but chuckle as the bartender standing right across from the counter blushed red. The skeleton was sitting on a two foot tall black stool, holding a ketchup bottle in one hand. The counter in front of him was littered with half-empty bottles and uneaten cheeseburgers as well as the grubby hands of the patrons who feasted on them. The counter also had a cash register to Sans' left, which the bartender always kept an eye on and swatted away any hands that tried to risk it. The bar was fairly crowded, with a bunch of tables on the left and right walls that were filled to the brim with drunks and people looking for a meal. There was also a slot machine for gambling, and a pool table right in the middle. Each of these hot-spots had about four or five others playing them, which more often than not caused an argument whenever someone lost. If that wasn't enough, the bar reeked of sweat and the bitter aroma of alcohol. To most people, this would be a place for deadbeats or people with nothing else to do. But to Sans, this was like home, especially the ketchup, which gave Grillby's a run for its money.

The skeleton reopened the bottle of ketchup in his right hand, setting the plastic cap onto the counter. He kept a close eye on it just in case the meaty paws of the customers slid it off the table as he raised the bottle to his mouth, glugging down the blood-like gel until it was empty. He placed the empty bottle back onto the counter, lightly tossing a few gold pieces towards the bartender before hopping off of the stool, heading towards the exit.

As he walked, however, he accidentally brushed his left shoulder against a cloaked woman, though she didn't seem to pay him much mind. The white-turtlenecked skeleton stopped in his tracks, observing the woman as she trudged towards the counter of the bar, sitting down in the stool he was just on. She had a hood up above her head, preventing Sans from getting a good look at her, and she had a mysterious aura around her that he couldn't quite understand. The woman had her head down, as if she didn't want anyone bothering her. Sans looked at her, pity in his eyes before strolling back towards the counter.

He lifted himself onto a stool to the right of the woman, noticing she wasn't even bothering to look at anyone, not even the bartender. He remained silent for a while; his bony fingers tapping the hard wood of the counter-top like a xylophone. Eventually, Sans beamed as an idea struck his mind. He snickered to himself as he removed a whoopee cushion from his blue jacket, stealthily moving it behind the woman's back. After being sure that the woman hadn't noticed what he had done, he squeezed.

Sans let out a burst of laughter as the woman nearly jumped out of her seat, swiping his cushion back into his coat. The woman turned her face towards him, allowing Sans to notice that her eyes were concealed behind a blindfold. She also had a necklace around her neck that looked like a bronze gear, and very pale skin. The comedian, however, hardly bothered memorizing what she looked like, as he was still laughing.

After about a minute's time, Sans stopped hooting and hollering, moving his left hand up to his eyes to wipe away some tears. He saw that the blindfolded woman was still looking at him, apparently wanting an explanation. He decided to give her one.

"hehehehe. whopee cushion behind the back jokes. you can't get much better than those, hehehe." The joker said, staring at the woman with an almost unnerving smile, "anyways, uh... i'm sans. sans the skeleton. saw you walking in here. didn't look like you were enjoying yourself. still don't. i think i'll fix that."

Posted by: Strazio Rockwell - 12-05-2015, 11:18 AM - Forum: The Astral Realm - Replies (1)

“Once you agree to this contract you can not rescind your decision,” Valerie's voice paused for a moment before continuing, “are you positive this is what you desire?”

Winter's wind whipped through the desolate clearing. Frost gnawed at the edges of grass and rocks, winter's chill had begun its lethargic conquest of summer. Flecks of white clung desperately to the edge's of Strazio's auburn hair, he had recently bathed and his still damp hair became brittle. Naked and cold, the soon-to-be mage watched as his teacher carved ancient runes into the frozen earth. Around young Strazio Valerie formed concentric rings of foreign symbols and inscriptions. The earth was hard and unforgiving, offering Valerie no respite as he used a dull knife to hack away at the earth.

“I have no choice.” Strazio answered through chattering teeth.

“Very well, let us begin.” Valerie's usually chipper demeanor had melted away, revealing one of a worried father, “just do not blame me when you do not find the catharsis you are hoping for.”

A cascade of fiery passionate colours erupted from the frozen earth. Each rune vomited a deluge of ochre, crimson, and amber hues. The streams of magick danced and swirled around the young man. Harmless and curious the tendrils of pigment fluttered in the air around Strazio, occasionally reaching out to warm his skin. Sharp reds and heavy blacks pulsed through the flood. Tonal shift. Harsh colors and angry shades twisted and wormed their way through the vibrant crimsons and ambers. A thin wiry spear of red charged toward's Strazio's clavicle. The sharp wire of pain pierced through the bone, forcing a scream of anguish to escape the poor kid's throat. Another wicked cable of hate lashed out, tearing through his sternum. Ropes and chords of the hateful red gripped and wormed their way into his chest. The dry hollow cracking of bone filled the air, offering a sick staccato to underline Strazio's cries. A sound, not unlike the sound of a sheet of sheering lake ice rebounded off the dead and dying trees.

This was a pinnacle of pain. And it was far from over.

His ribcage was peeled away, splitting half and splayed open like some kind of macabre eagle. Inside the kid's chest cavity sat a furiously beating heart. Every pump forced fear through his veins. The wires of hatred invaded his chest, piercing through organs and other vulnerable bags of meat. They coiled around his beating heart, searing a black spiral of charcoal around the frightened organ. The coils constricted tighter around his heart, hindering its ability to pump precious life through his body. He teetered on the edge of death and life, he stood at the chasm of rebirth. Eldritch runes and ancient inscriptions appeared across the bloody organ's skin. The Rite of Magistry was painfully burned into his very heart.

This was his moment of power, his moment of clarity.

He was no longer Strazio Rockwell, no he was something so much more. He was an avatar of anger, not a man, but rather a proverbial force of furious nature.

But, with so much power at his very fingertips and with so much potential, why then was he so damned afraid?

Joining - Yuuko Asou aka The Valis Warrior
Posted by: Yuuko Asou - 12-05-2015, 08:40 AM - Forum: Joining - Replies (11)

Character name: Yuuko Asou

Aliases: The Valis Warrior, The Fantasm Soldier

Character source: Valis Video Game Series (specifically after the end of Valis 3 on the Sega Master System)

Character history: Although Yuuko has the appearance of a normal human girl (despite her naturally blue hair), she was not originality born on Earth in her universe. She was born in a world called Dream World. First daughter of Queen Valia, Yuuko was destined to become the Valis Warrior and save Dream World from disaster. Trouble was already brewing as forces from the Demon World threatened the safety of Dream World. In order to protect her child, Queen Valia secretly sent Yuuko to Earth so that she might grow up in relative peace until she was old enough to take the mantle. Yuuko grew up in Tokyo completely unaware of her true heritage. She considered her adoptive parents her true parents and thought she was just like any other girl. While she was quiet and a bit of a daydreamer, she was kind to others whenever possible. She made a few friends in school, one of which was her best friend, Reiko. Her normal life came crashing down around her at age 16. Rogles, a demon lord who had risen to power, discovered Yuuko's location and sent a swarm of demons to Earth for the purpose of killing her. Queen Valia barely had time to send Yuuko her keepsake weapon, the Valis Sword. With the magical blade in hand, Yuuko fought off her attackers. Queen Valia teleported Yuuko to Dream World and told Yuuko to fight the demonic army using her holy blade. Yuuko had initially refused to help but Queen Valia gave her little choice in the matter if she wanted to return to Earth. Meanwhile, Rogles decided to put another piece in play. He recruited and brainwashed Reiko into serving as his champion. When Yuuko learned that Reiko had been dragged into this mess, she tried to save her best friend. The Valis Warrior tried her best to go for non-lethal blows but one unlucky sword swing gave Reiko a fatal wound. Reiko died in Yuuko's arms as she asked if they were still friends. With renewed determination, Yuuko forced her way through Rogles' army and killed him. Yuuko returned to Earth and tried to live out a double life as the Valis Warrior.

After Rogles fell, Demon Lord Megas rose to power. He consolidated the army and hunted down any Rogles loyalists. Although he had plans to invade Earth, his first priority was Queen Valia. He struck Dream World hard and killed Queen Valia just before Yuuko returned. In Queen Valia's will, Yuuko learned the truth about her heritage as well as the fact that she had a younger sister named Valna. After ensuring the safety of her sister, Yuuko focused on stopping the new demon lord. Once more, Yuuko faced down the monstrous beings of the Demon World and slew Megas. Although Yuuko was the eldest daughter and rightful heir of Queen Valia, she had no desire to rule and gave Valna the throne. Yuuko returned to Earth once again and tried to live out her life.

Demon Lord Glames rose to power so after. After suffering two defeats to the Valis Warrior, the demon lord sought out the legendary blade, Leethus. Leethus was considered to be Valis' counterpart. A sword of darkness to counteract a sword of light. With this weapon in hand, he believed that he could succeed where the previous lords failed. Furthermore, he had little time to delay. The reason the Demon World forces kept invading Dream World and Earth was because the planet was in its death throngs. In less than a year, the Demon World would be incapable of supporting life. Glames felt the only recourse was to invade other worlds and resettle. Just like Megas, he focused on Dream World first in order to avoid the gaze of the Valis Warrior. Unfortunately, a demoness named Cham defected and snuck away to Earth. Cham's goal was to steal the Valis Sword so she could use it against Glames but her plan failed. After catching Cham and rescuing her from Glames' forces, Yuuko decided to team up with the Demoness to stop Glames. They headed to Dream World and saved Valna from Glames' minions. The trio then sought out the sage Nizetti who was capable of unlocking the Valis Sword's true potential. However, if he performed this service, Yuuko's double life would be over. She would no longer be able to hide on Earth. Yuuko felt that the people of Dream World needed the full might of the Valis Warrior and made her choice. Yuuko, Cham and Valna headed for the Demon World, defeated Glames' generals and confronted the demon lord himself. Valis and Leethus were both legendary blades thought to have shaped worlds in the past. Only their respective wielders had any chance of facing each other. Yuuko and Glames fought a grueling battle until finally the demon lord was defeated. With his dying breath, he gave Yuuko the Leethus sword and proclaimed that Yuuko would decide the fate of his people. Yuuko thought that the best way to avoid further conflict was to allow the survivors of the Demon World to migrate to Dream World and integrate. Valna would rule over the unified factions while Cham would act as her adviser and general. Yuuko's mind shifted to the two legendary blades. She was worried that both swords would be abused if they remained on Dream World, thus she used Valis' full power to leave Dream World.

Yuuko wanted to travel beyond her world to find a place where no one would ever be able to use the twin swords. She used their combined power to sustain her body as she flew through the vastness of space. Alone with her thoughts, she came to terms with her personal mission. Valis and Leethus were capable of destroying armies and even if she held them until the day she died, there was no guarantee that the next generation wouldn't start another war with them. Yuuko assumed that this was a one way trip and even contemplated flying into the nearest Black Hole. She did not tell her allies about her morbid mission for fear they might try to stop her. She left them with a smile. Suddenly, the stars winked out of her view and her magic armor powered by the Valis Sword reverted back to its basic form. The void had taken her and given her immortality. In a strange way, she found what she was looking for, but not in the way she expected or wanted at all.

Physical Description: (originals only)

Stats:
ATK: 3
DEF: 4
SPD: 1
TEC: 2

Starting Proficiencies: Physical Strength proficiency (1000 OM), Ranged Proficiency (1000 OM), Area Shield Proficiency (400 OM)

Starting Powers: Basic Super Jumping (300 OM) - One of the few abilities Yuuko can perform without the aid of Valis or Leethus, Yuuko's athletic nature combined with her unusual lineage allow her to jump higher than a normal human. While her vertical jump is much better than her horizontal long jump, she rarely utilizes this feat unless threatened or desperate.

Master Acrobat (400 OM) - After being hit by more attacks than she would care to even remember, Yuuko learned the importance of dodging. She is adapt at using the momentum of her foe's attack to roll away from dangerous situations.

Starting Moves: Valis Sword (requires Physical Strength) – 300 OM
Often referred to as the Sword of Light in her dimension, Valis is a narrow longsword roughly 4 feet long with a quarter foot wide blade. Designed for speed and accuracy rather than power, the blade is almost weightless in the hands of a master. Normally, Valis has a sentient spirit residing inside it, but this presence has been oddly silent since arriving in the Omniverse.

Leethus Sword (requires Physical Strength) – 300 OM
The dark blade Leethus is a 5 foot long broadsword with a foot wide blade. While the weight of the blade makes it slow to wield effectively, the power behind each swing is greater than standard weapons. Just like Valis, this spirit holds a sentient spirit as well. However, it never truly bonded with Yuuko and wouldn't have spoken to her even if it still had the ability.

Holy Slash (requires Physical Strength, Ranged Proficiency) – 300 OM
This move can only be used while Yuuko is currently wielding Valis in her primary (right) hand. The Valis sword glows with a pale blue light as Yuuko makes a single slashing attack in front of her. Regardless of whether she is standing in front of something or merely slashing at empty air, a wave of light about half a foot wide and three feet long is released from her blade. The wave shoots forward in a straight line until it connects with a solid object or reaches a distance of 15 feet. If the wave hits an object, it will slice through it as if Yuko had swung the Valis Sword directly upon that spot before dissipating. Anything behind the object will not be damaged. If the wave hits a sentient creature (artificial creatures with their own minds count and simply wearing mundane armor will not stop the attack without another form of shielding), the wave leaves no lasting marks on the body but the pain of being slashed by Valis is still felt. Anyone behind the damaged person is not affected by the wave. The wave dissipates harmlessly if it has not struck anything beyond 15 feet.

Divine Shield (requires Area Shield Proficiency) – Tier 1 Super Move – 600 OM
This move can only be used while Yuuko is currently wielding Valis in her primary (right) hand. Yuuko uses the power of Valis to create an ethereal form fitting shield around her body. While her shield does not last long, it is capable of blocking a single powerful Tier 1 attack.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.
yes

Where did you find us?
I was doing a web search for roleplay forums and I stumbled upon this site.
Just for more details, my ultimate goal is to have Yuuko dual-wield both Valis and Leethus with alternate forms to match. This is why some of my powers state that Yuuko must have Valis in her primary hand. First I will build up Valis' power suite fully, then go on to Leethus. In the game series, Yuuko only got this sword after beating the final boss and never had an opportunity to use it at all so I think I can build on that. Finally, she will have powers that she can only use when dual-wielding. There might be a power or two that can be used between all forms but I want to keep that to a minimum for balance sake.

Edit: Since I would need to make the purchase for flight anyway it seems a little redundant to have a move that is worse than basic flight. I can just upgrade super jumping and fluff it that Valis is doing the flying part. Maybe I can even turn this super power into a special attack eventually. For now, I am dropping it completely. To fix my sheet, I'll be buying Area Shield Proficiency. Seems I have a lot of proficiencies to focus on if I want to make her really work. Still, that's part of the fun of seeing a character grow.

Added more detail to the Holy Slash ability.
Mock Battle Thread

Quote:Heya! So, I've come up with another idea. Fun, right? Well, in the wake of the Omniverse Bar and Fusion Mock Fights, I've decided to set up a thread for good old classic mock fights. Basically, same rules as normal fighting, except for a key difference.

This is not involved in canon. As this entails, if you don't know a character, and you meet them here, your character will not know them. Also, being killed or banished is of no consequence in your RPs.

Mock Fight: Jade Harley vs Demetri Malius
Posted by: Demetri Malius - 12-04-2015, 07:35 PM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (5)

Word Limit: 1000 words
Posts Per Player: Continues until the other is unable to fight (when either party is at less than 5 health)
Time Limit: None
Random Elements: On
Damage Meter: On

STUFF HAS BEEN SET. We are gonna need a judge to determine damage between rounds.

Setting:
Set on the moon, which is now inhabited by a froglike ( frogc00l )species called Frogons. Frogons are extremely violent creatures, but have a mysterious fascination with the art of ballet. Performers achieve a very peaceable, relaxed state when dancing, like some kind of hallucinogenic sac in their brain releases these whacky mind-altering chemicals and that's why they don't notice outside elements.( :frog: ) However, they can be interrupted by coming into contact with outside factors. When this happens, their eyes flash a variety of colors while they emit a loud croak that damages anything or anyone within 5 meters( :frogsiren: ) before returning your their passive state. If repeatedly provoked, Frogons enter a berserk state where they flail about and chase whatever outside source interrupted their performance ( :froggonk: ), not giving up until the source is destroyed or chased off.

In addition, Frogons are adapted to the low gravity environment, suffering no penalty to their movement. However, Primes may find themselves moving at a slower pace, but able to jump much higher than then used to, at the cost of speed of course. Long falls also do decreased damage.
