  Some Would-Be Heroes
Posted by: Yukika Inoue - 06-21-2018, 07:34 PM - Forum: Camelot - Replies (10)

The mask-wearing heroine gazed upon the giant castle carved into the stone of the mountain. It was like something out of a storybook fairytale, all to glorious to be ignored. The city surrounding it was enormous as well, though, that was less aweing than the castle itself considering where she came from. Enormous cities were common, with small patches of nature between one-another. The only way one could understand the standard of living within each was by their letter-classification. City-A was classified for better standards than City-C, and so on.

“Impressive,” the teenager muttered to herself in her deep tone, taking in the scenery. Her ears perked up when she heard a sly giggle come from her half-plant friend. She turned to look at Wisteria, but as soon as their eyes met the young hero-in-training stopped and turned away. “Was something I said funny?” She asked sincerely, not so threateningly.

“U-uh no! S-sorry, it’s nothing.” The girl turned away trying to hide her obvious blush. “I just thought of something funny.”

“Very well,” The heroine stated out loud and looked back over the browning-grassy fields. “You said your destination is the mountain castle?”

“Well, the city, yes.” The white-haired teenager replied. “As I said before, I just want to inventory and such. We should start walking, as you can see it’s a long trail ahead. The sooner we start, the sooner we get there.”

“You know the land better than us, so you should be the one to take lead. Go ahead.” Yukika followed behind Weiss with Wisteria at her side. The young heroine took in nature around her. It was a more enticing scene than the stone city in the distance. She had never seen so much greenery and forest all in one area. She had seen stuff like this on television but never had in person before. She hesitantly took her mask off and let it rest off the side of her head. Naturally, (for some reason she didn’t even notice it herself.) her tone of voice shifted back to its softer octave.

“This forest is beautiful.” She said, even though the season had shown some of the trees starting to lose their leaves. “I’ve never seen so much nature in one place. This new world is certainly interesting.

  Hawt Kings Hugging-R (Fanfic.Omni)
Posted by: Gilgamesh - 06-21-2018, 07:32 PM - Forum: Dataverse Messageboards - Replies (17)

This is my story so if you don't like don't read. Constructive criticism only plox.

Mickey’s hand accidentally brushed against Gilgamesh’s. The loud music of the room clouded their thoughts and the spark that they felt was both frightening and intriguing.

Yu Kanda glanced over, noticed the electricity bouncing between the two kings, and dragged Mickey away. “Mickey, girl,” the swordsman said, “Don’t do it. He’s a total dick.”

“Piss off, Kanda,” Mickey protested, spinning around and sauntering back toward Gilgamesh.

“You look amazing,” Gilgamesh said, with a smouldering look in his eyes, stroking Mickey’s remaining ear.

“Thanks, pal,” Mickey smiled coyly. He didn’t know how Karl Jak had turned the arena into a dance floor so suddenly, but in this moment, he was thankful. He chugged the rest of his whiskey neat and grabbed Gilgamesh’s hand, pulling him seductively to the dance floor as the music changed to a bass-heavy hip hop song.

Dancing to the rhythm of Rihanna's hit song “S&M”, their bodies subconsciously grew closer as the night went on. An accidental graze here and there became hands on hips (an incredible feat, since it required Gilgamesh to dance on his knees) and chests pressed close together. Suddenly the final call lights flooded the room, shocking both Kings. Mickey had a disappointed look written all over his face, but Gilgamesh was not done with this night.

The Golden King grabbed Mickey’s hand and placed it on his bare chest. Suddenly, he was thankful for the beam of yellow light that had destroyed his breastpiece. Mickey’s fingers traced the hot, burnt skin of the Diablo brand, and he bit his lip. It was very warm, but the fire in his little mouse loins burned more.

Will Versus Fear, Round One: Fight!
Posted by: Jack Darby - 06-21-2018, 04:08 PM - Forum: The Tangled Green - Replies (3)

Jack Darby had been wandering aimlessly through the Tangled Green, for what seemed like an eternity. So far in his quest to get access to the Green Light of Will in a more stable manner he had been unsuccessful. Thirty attempts had been made by him using Omnilium to make an actually working Green Lantern Ring, and none of them had been what he'd call successful. None had done anything because he did not know enough about the power rings. If Jack ever encountered the individuals who gave out the rings, he would slap them as hard as he could, because they had not provided him any sort of instruction manual. With as little as he knew about the rings, even someone without a ring could likely take him in a fight. In all honesty he knew he needed some form of education so that he could master the Oan Power Ring, or learn how to create a Power Ring for himself.

Posted by: Shay Cormac - 06-21-2018, 01:11 PM - Forum: The Tangled Green - Replies (1)

Mounted upon his summoned steed, Shay Cormac made haste towards the gates of the Nexus through Nippur. At this point, the man knew his way from the gates and back by heart. Though he wasn't exactly pleased being ordered to fetch some random Prime off of the soils of the Greens to which he was headed, the Templar still enjoyed the few minutes of quiet he had to himself. Of course, that didn't last long considering distant and desperate cries of help were commonplace in the Nexus as a few more Primes spawned in. He continued to ride onward, the galloping of his horse echoing throughout the verse in which he spawned.

Thankfully, Shay realized that the gate to the Greens itself would be able to fit him and his mount. Slowly, he had his horse walk forwards. The teleportation effect caused by the gates was still something the man was not used to. The privateer would soon realize that was an understatement, given that immediately as he regained his senses, another stinging headache pounded at the man's head as his face was nigh-planted onto the soil beneath him.

Coughing, Shay at least knew this wasn't as bad as his previous experiences with the strange artifacts such as the gates. Eventually, the man waddled upright, attempting to focus his vision again. It was obvious where he was, he didn't even need to see clearly to understand the context of the situation; he was in some sort of forest. Shay sighed, not really thinking that a verse named 'The Tangled Green' would be, well... Lush of greens. Made sense to him though, and he wasn't disappointed by any means. If anything beat the feeling of being out at sea, it was embracing the fauna of the woods to him.

As the Templar looked around however, he WAS disappointed by the sudden disappearance of his mount. Looking in every direction possible, Shay hesitated before coming to the conclusion he'd have to walk his way from here.

...Where was he going? He pondered, unsure in complete honesty. Did Victor think this far ahead?

"Shite," the man swore, believing this to be the only expression he could think of at the moment. Groaning again, the Templar Enforcer shook his head, not entirely feeling the mood to fiddle with the strange Dataverse tablet still tucked into his pocket at the moment. The bright lights were sure to sting, which is not something the man desired considering the sun above him was being blocked off by the branches that gently waved overhead.

Putting an armored hand upon his face, Shay Cormac began walking, attempting to find some sort of path to civilization first. He had to admit, it was decently quiet for a forest meant to be bustling with animal life. Still, as the man recovered from the teleportation, he took the time to appreciate the verse's beauty, at least where he stood. It reminded him of River Valley, though... less tense, even with the constant pestering of New Babylon's higher ups sending the man out wherever they desired at any given moment.

  Guu'd Night, Sweet Princess
Posted by: Guu - 06-21-2018, 12:17 PM - Forum: Camelot - Replies (1)

It was a peaceful beautiful day in Camelot, and then there was Guu.

There she is, jetting through the gate like it was nothing. A group of scouts dart out of the way as the pink princess sailed passed them. Just then, a thought crossed their minds collectively, one that came in a monotone female voice: ‘Sorry about that.’

Suddenly, she came to a screeching halt, minus the screeching as she was in the air at the time. She paused in front of wooden sign, glancing if over like it was the most important sign of her life right now. In some ways, it was.

‘Dalaran or Minas Tirith...’ Guu thought as she hovered in the air.

Just then, one of the scouts had regained his senses long before the others. He looked upon the pink haired one who nearly took his head just a moment prior. In his anger, he pulled out his bow.

One of the other scouts noticed his teammate arming himself and whispered out.

“No, Pablo! Don’t!”

Pablo the guard didn’t listen, he pulled an arrow from his quiver and drew his bow.

“We don’t know if she’s an actual threat, we don’t know how powerful she is. She’s literally flying, please think about this!”

The guard aims carefully, the tip of his bow directed at the back of Guu’s head. Easy shot, from this distance.

“Pablo, no!” The second scout finally got to his feet and ran for his teammate. However, he was too late, his friend fired his arrow, sending it hurtling towards the pink one’s head…

Guu proceeded to snatch it from the air without even turning and chew on the spine of the arrow as she thought.

“Dalaran… Minas Tirith...”

Pablo, in shock and awe, fell to his knees. He then proceeded to bow down, face in the dirt, hoping a genuine a sign of apology would make the monster in front of him spare his life.

After a few minutes of thinking, Guu suddenly stopped, whirling around to spy on the the guards. The ones that weren’t face down in the dirt, jumped at the sudden movement.

‘Weirdos.’ Guu said in their thoughts. The arrow floated out of her mouth on its own, planting itself in Pablo’s Quiver.

Guu turned in the direction of Dalaran and took off in a sudden burst of acceleration, flying at top speed towards the city in the clouds. She had never been there, but she had heard so much from the Dataverse. It’s shame a she couldn’t visit on better circumstances.

She passed the time by wondering to herself; what kind of punishment would the wizards have for her? She considered the possibility of death and banishment. Both seem kind of extreme, but she had no idea the severity in which wizards enforce their laws. Both options were a curiosity of Guu’s.

Despite competing in Dante’s Abyss, braving ancient zombie dinosaur infested swamps, and signing up for oHarmony, she has yet to experience death. What does it feel like for everything to just stop? The idea excites her, and kind of terrifies her.

Banishment was a whole other matter though. She knew a lot about Diablo from brief time with Tearen Wover, but she knew that she needed to take the trip herself down there eventually to see it for her own eyes. She knew this, but she wasn’t sure what she would encounter down there. How did the demons of hell compare to her father? She almost wanted to find out! Bet those demons knew how to wield a pitchfork or two!

Her mind began to wander again, she considered other possibilities. What if they wanted to run experiments? Would they put her through painful tests in some wizard lab to further understand her eldritch body? Ooh, what if they had her on some romp in rat infested sewers? What if they needed a maid? All of these were delightfully boring punishments, either would be perfectly suitable for her needs.

However, Guu’s thoughts were interrupted when she was suddenly thrown in the air by a passing flying creature. A woman, riding through the air on a pegasus. Guu briefly thought about summoning a flying donkey, but then considered that would come off as more Jesus-y then Eldritch-y.

She landed on the ground and started to summon something else, a flying beast that embodies the true spirit of the Eldritch bloodline.

High above the clouds, the pointed spires of Dalaran reached for the greatest of heights. Wizards and mages went about their day, when suddenly a giant 5-foot winged platypus landed in the streets. The magic users stared in confusion and curiosity as the pink abomination of a princess stepped off her noble steed. She waved to the crowd, her hand steadily growing more fingers with each wave as she stepped into what is the bounty’s claims office, or at least that’s what the dataverse told her it was.

The princess walked casually up to the front desk. The lady occupying the front was a stout young woman in colorful robes. She was scratching a quill against a piece of parchment when Guu suddenly leapt up onto her table, giving her a start.

“Uh...” Said, a little bit shaken but quickly recovering. “Oh! Hello little girl, how may I help... you?”

She stumbled on her words a little bit. At first she saw the tiny child in a cute pink dress and light pink hair, but her gaze eventually met with the kid’s eyes. Those cold emotionless unblinking eyes. As she continued to watch, she was quietly beg for her lids to close at least once, some sign she was even looking at a human.

After a long excruciating silence, Guu finally spoke.

“I am Princess Guu, I believe you have a bounty on me?”

“Princess… the leader of the wacko city in the Tangled?” She said, somewhat surprised. Stories have spread about the city of Ambrosia, in how they reveled in their oddity. There were even talks about about sending some wizards over there to study such a population.

Tales of their leader go far beyond odd. Some say she’s some sort of magical girl that focused on reality altering magic, others say she’s an eldritch abomination in a cute little disguise.

“Both are technically true.” Guu said.

“What?” Says the lady.

“Nothing.” The enigma responded.

Guu, in a display that would cause the lady to recoil in shock, reached her hand down her throat and pulled out a glass jar. She placed it in front of the woman and unscrewed the lid, handing it over to the lady. She reluctantly takes it, surprised it wasn’t wet with saliva.

“Anyways, I’m turning myself, please set that forward.”

In a flash of light, Guu transformed. The lady shielded her eyes from the glow. As the view cleared, she peered over her hand to spot that the princess had turned into a 3 inch tall fairy in a yellow dress.

The Guu fairy daintily floated into the bottle, the woman without thinking, screwed in the cap, trapping the princess inside. She lifted up the bottle up to her face to get a closer look, she spotted the princess giving her a thumbs up.

  4th Character Ideas
Posted by: Civic - 06-21-2018, 07:59 AM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (11)

My fourth character's theme so far is 'good guy.' To a fault, mostly. Someone unlike Jim who wouldn't blur the lines, someone who would always do the right thing as best as they possibly can. Holy powers are a plus (always loved a holy power set). Who should I be?

1) Anduin Wrynn (Warcraft) - Anduin's character arc from WoW: Legion was very enjoyable and his character is always striving for peace. Along with his holy priest powers and his natural leadership skills, it would be fun to play a character who would do everything to avoid conflict unless it was totally unavoidable (my other three characters are quite happy to get their hands dirty). Would be exploring the angle of selflessness/selfishness and how far someone can go to put others first. Probably my number one choice so far.

Plus: Holy powers, good guy, strong focus on leadership and helping the less fortunate, less combat oriented would be a change of pace
Minus: Perhaps not stretching my creativity that much, another Warcraft character

2) Paladin OC (Warcraft) - similar to Anduin, but would be more combat/warrior focused as a paladin is. Would either be human or draenei, but personality would be more of a jovial, happy-go-lucky adventurer who travels the land in search of people to help. Would be my first OC and I kinda think I should have one by now (???) Would explore similar themes to Anduin except probably more lighthearted.

Plus: Holy powers, good guy, freedom to shape past, nomadic adventurer would open up cool avenues
Minus: Not as keen on this as Anduin, zealousness might restrict opportunities, another Warcraft character

3) Earthworm Jim - just a fun, goofy character who is definitely all about being a good guy. Cool powers and an easy going nature could get him into a lot of adventures. Would just explore having fun with a zany character (a sapient earthworm that wants to be a superhero).

Plus: Good guy, cool powers, more comedic and less serious
Minus: no holy powers, never written a non-serious character before (I might suck/hate it)

4) Protoss OC (Starcraft) - thinking a protoss. I already have an idea for a backstory for them, and their powers are awesome. Would be a dark templar but could expand powers. Would explore themes of self identity, loss and perseverance.

Plus: Psychic/Void powers, freedom to shape past, basic plans already made
Minus: No human facial features (harder to convey emotions), no holy powers, would be more neutral than good, another Starcraft character

5) Another OC - I've thought about doing something completely from scratch but I haven't come up with anything I'm overly happy with.

Plus: Total freedom for backstory/personality/powers
Minus: I have no idea what I would do

  Everburning Fires.
Posted by: Ari - 06-21-2018, 03:02 AM - Forum: Coruscant - Replies (6)

Coruscant was both familiar and foreign in many ways, but the stench that came with an industrial revolution and lingered afterwards was unmistakable.

Unmistakable, and not present.

It was the first thing she noticed after passing through the gate. While it smelled like cement and carbon emissions, the actual elements were missing. It struck her then, that the Nexus hadn’t had a smell. She could determine the elements of the worlds, but couldn’t smell the white - as if it hadn’t existed. Looking back at the portal, it was most certainly still there, but no scent eminated from it the way the fake carbon emission smell came from this world on the other side.

Arianna’s brow furrowed as she looked onwards, head tilted up slightly to analyse the tranquil peace of Coruscant. Time was not the same here, and Warren appeared long moments after she had. It made her wonder - was time passing at all, or was it simply defined by movement? Humans calculated time by the movement of the sun, but perhaps it was calculated differently here. Ari stretched her arms up towards the sky, abandoning her attempt at dimensional physics, or whatever Iza called it. She was smart, but science was beyond her knowledge.

The Chimera wasn’t known for creating technology. The Chimera was known for her precision in changing forms, yet that had been taken away from her. There was still a power lock on her abilities. She felt chained, collared and muzzled by the white Specter who brought her here. He should have known better. Maurvois always bit back harder. It was second nature.

The Chimera turned to her travel companion, eager to keep moving.

“Which way? As much as I’d love to sightsee, I do need to find a hospital rather soon.”

She could feel the toxins burning, though nothing had changed. There was no weakness in her limbs, no blur to her vision. Iza had told her those would mark how long she had before reaching critical points. The pain meant the medicine was wearing off.

The Chimera waited for Warren to start leading the way again, wary of what seemed to be a peaceful city.

“You don’t need to ask anything now. You can hold onto those three questions until you’re in desperate need of assistance. That being said. I’m not fighting your battles for you. Don’t ask me to do anything. Only information. It’s just what I do.”

  Ask and Recieve
Posted by: Koehler - 06-20-2018, 08:50 PM - Forum: The Vasty Deep - Replies (2)

”It’s been two days. How do you feel?” Alex dared to ask, having witnessed the devastation that was wrought via Cole’s eyes. Entire populaces were wiped out, islands lost, and fleets sunk, lost to the depths. It’s been two days since the invasion by the enigmatic organization known as Nebula.

Cole didn’t offer an answer, instead continuing to look out to the horizon at the fore of the Imperial ship, a simple twin-masted carrack with billowing white, triangular sails, the ocean water spraying across the front as it crashed through the waves. The salt-tinged wind blew softly behind him as the ship rocked about, sailing on without a care as sailors hustled to and fro attending to sail, cannon, and cargo.

He stood there, paying little heed to it all. The captain long since gave up on telling him to remain inside like the other passengers, the refugees that they had managed to recover. The ones they all had barely managed to save.

”Typical heroism, deriding yourself for failure outside of your power to avoid. I see my grandchild hasn’t grown up at all.” Fumetsu chided.

“Shut up.” Cole muttered, his voice washed out as the ship broke through another wave and heaved upward, then downward, crashing into the water as it sprayed upward.

”Your failure was being weak, not for some lack of initiative or intellect, much as you poorly rank in both. Had you relied on my lessons more, you would have fared better.” Fumetsu continued in his typical condescension.

“Shut up!” Cole shouted, bringing the sailors’ attention to him. Cole glanced back at them, reflexively grasping the empty sleeve of his jacket that was flapping in the wind. His missing arm ached again. So annoying…

Cole turned back to look ahead, letting go of the stub of an arm he had left and instead reaching into his pocket to grab the communicator he recently made. A phone, one of the newer models from his world, with a large, thin rectangular shape dominated exclusively by a blank, black screen. It was rather simple gadget to make using Omnilium, but according to the captain and the other officers he talked to while helping with the recovery efforts, it was all too important to have in this world.

Not that he knew what to do with it. It’s not like he remembered to note down the numbers of the other Liberators he parted ways with before.

He stared at the blank screen, as if waiting for something to happen. For answers, questions, he didn’t know. He didn’t know what to do in this world beyond fight machines and corrupted humans, like he used to always do, though usually with two arms rather than one.

Of course, he wasn’t exactly expecting it to light up at that thought and start ringing loudly, as it did, and in his surprise, he almost fumbled it into the water below. He bounced it from one knee, to the other, and then caught it in his hand again in a hurry, breathing a sigh of relief once he got hold of it again.

He didn’t even think to look at who it was that managed to find his number before answering.

“Hello?”

  E-Mail from Amaterasu to Amber
Posted by: Amaterasu - 06-20-2018, 09:56 AM - Forum: Dataverse Messageboards - Replies (1)

[Amber’s Communicator number was typed into the “To” field, the “CC” field and the top of the E-Mail’s main body. It seems that the Kami still has some trouble with figuring out technology and decided to go for the shotgun approach to ensure that the message reaches its destination]

Greetings Amber-san,

This is Amaterasu, I’m writing this message to you to cover a handful of subjects, as we’d recently discussed at your home.

First, in regards to our whereabouts: we’ve set up a base near the center of the Frozen Fields with the aim to further expand in the coming days. We chose to name the town Hoshi, by the way! I’ve enclosed a map pointing out our location as accurately as possible. You’ll see that we’ve built it as close to the halfway point between the troll and dwarven capitals as we can, or at least we hope that we did. It depends on whether or not the calculations that we made are correct.

I’ve set up an Origin Mirror for Instant Travel to the palace, if you are interested in unlocking access to it. We are currently exploring options to allow for Instant Travel without the requirement of first unlocking the Origin Mirror, which would ideally allow travelers to access Atlas and Hoshi without the need to traverse the Frozen Fields on foot. If we can set up a travel network of that sort it would allow us to come to each other’s aid far more efficiently, and could attract merchants from other verses. Of course, this idea would require your approval if we are to set a mirror up in Atlas, or near it. Let me know your thoughts.

Onto some other news: you may have noticed a beam of light reaching into the sky, some weeks ago. That was me! My accumulated Omnilium appears to have gone out of control, which is why I had to let it out. Fortunately both my friends and I are fine. However, the beam may have attracted unwanted attention. Fiara is noting that a number of individuals have gathered in a forum which is located in the Dataverse and have exchanged images they have taken of the light as well as theories of what it may have been. While we are prepared to deal with it to some capacity, I want you to be informed and ready in case that any unsavory individuals come by. If you find yourself needing aid in this or any other regard, we will be with you as soon as we can.

I also understand that you have participated in the most recent Abyss of Dante? We missed the notifications regarding that. I hope it goes well for you, and I’m eager to hear more when you are finished. It would be a pleasure to have you and your friends to Hoshi over for a few days, if you can fit it into your time - you could tell me how things went then.

I look forward to hearing from you again soon.

Kind regards,
Amaterasu
[Amaterasu’s Communicator number]

[Attached to the email is a .jpg image, very obviously snapped from a cheap phone camera, of a hand-drawn map that depicts an area of the Frozen Fields about 100 kilometers away from the shore of the frozen sea. One area in particular is circled in red. Despite the low quality the landmarks make it pretty easy to compare to a map, to pinpoint the location.

The second attachment is a .doc file with Amber’s Communicator number as its name. Its contents are just Amber's number too. Shotgun approach!]
