  Crossroads
Posted by: Koal - 06-13-2017, 10:08 PM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

"Dr. Corvus, our long range scanners registering activity at the Ashen Steppes Gate."

Eli honestly was in the middle of an experiment, the screen in front of him absorbing the majority of his attention. He hadn't heard a damn thing the Stormtrooper had told him. A static sigh escaped the troopers helmet, and he stepped forward, tapping the man's shoulder, inciting a small grunt.

"Sir, the Ashen Gate is currently active."

"Ah. Why didn't you tell me sooner. We need to get there right away. Or at least meet whomever may be emerging. Maybe even try and recruit them."

"Or maybe just shoot them."

"Exactly!"

The exited the APC, and surveyed the blank white canvas of the Nexus. The Empire and The Kingdom fought almost endlessly over this territory. It was also where both of them recruited and/or apprehended most of their prime associates.

"Let's get to it then."

______

"I'm just saying, something feels off. I feel like we're about to get ambushed or something."

"Nonsense. Doom would be aware if something of that nature were about to happen."

"Until you're not."

Koal and Doom were in the middle of the Nexus, the white landscape, like always, made The Swordsman's eyes strain to see. Nothing would be able to hide here right? They'd be able to see it coming. At least that's what he thought.

"Hands over you head, Mr. Lynch. You're a wanted man in the empire." Koal froze almost immediately, his mind providing an image of himself and two other individuals. One wearing a flowing red cape, the other a mask of the same color. He remembered a flood of white troopers, and more than a few of them falling to his savage battle tactics.

"...okay. Doom, don't panic, this is all just a misunderstanding that will be sorted out in due time."

"Smart move, Kid."

Koal was roughly grabbed under his arms and hurled through the Gate, and the last thing he saw before he fell unconscious was towering building that seemed to challenge the sky itself.

  Quitting Dante's Abyss
Posted by: Gaston - 06-13-2017, 11:25 AM - Forum: Dante's Abyss Junkyard - No Replies

Wasn't sure where to put this, figured this was the best spot. So, to put it simply, family stuff came up, and I won't be able to join Dante's Abyss to deal with it. So, I'm quitting Dante's Abyss, and I apologise for anything this interferes with.

Combat.

So you want to beat up someone?  Did you read the rules?  I assume you did, but I’m making a thread here to clarify anyway, because I know people are definitely here.

As you know, everyone must tag their movements.

You know that Gildarts is over in A5, and you’re feeling lucky.

So, you move there after a few posts.  Gildarts doesn’t post, because Gildarts is a lazy foo.

Reminder since it might not be blatantly spelled out – Entering the same square as someone does not trigger a fight immediately (like in the original DA).  So you also don’t need to PM me saying “I go here to partner this guy” (like in the original DA).  Just go there and start writing with them.  Just, you know, try and make it clear that you’re with them in-character and not be vague.

Back to violence.

Once you have moved to A5, you need to make another post tracking down GIldarts.  It must be 300 words.  The island isn't huge, but you may still have to use your brain.  You end it with

Quote:Issue Challenge – Gildarts
or some similar verbiage.  Once I see that post, I will send a PM to Gildarts.

At that, Gildarts can either accept your challenge or try to flee. Gildarts has 12 hours to make this call.

---If you use certain Consumables/Artefacts that force a fight, Gildarts would have no choice and we’d go straight to the combat---

If Gildarts accepts, then a fight starts.

If Gildarts says “No, go F yourself,” Gildarts must try to escape.

Escaping

1.  Gildarts uses a Consumable designed solely to escape (Flashbang Grenade or something on the island) – This is done in a PM to me.  I will post a small update.  Consumables (or Artefacts) are the only sure-fire escape mechanism
<or>
2.  Gildarts writes a post fleeing into the jungle or city or whatever.  During this post, Gildarts relies on his amazing SPD to escape.  If Gildarts is actually slow, he uses a powerup to boost his Stats to escape, or he fires off a Super Attack or Super Utility to escape.  Gildarts doesn’t care, he has 2023023020 SP.  This post may only be 500 words.  Why 500?  Because 800-2320230 words of you running or otherwise escaping can’t be terribly exciting for me to read (no offense).

Then…

3.  You’re not letting that scrub escape.  You have an opportunity to post 500 words pursuing Gildarts.  Maybe you likewise dip into your SP.  Maybe you have other Consumables you wanna use to boost your SPD too.  Either way, give it your all.

Once both players have made these posts, I’ll quickly do an update stating either “Gildarts has escaped!” or I’ll just post up that the fight has begun.

If a prime ‘escapes’ a challenge (throughout whatever means), they go on a ‘cooldown’ and cannot be challenge for 24 OOC hours (to again, prevent people from being total jags).

Again, this is just information from the Rules thread, but I just wanted to make sure it’s clear and create a dedicated thread in case people haven't felt comfortable asking questions elsewhere.

Seeing as how there's two of us now, this seemed easier than clogging Dante's inbox.

I'm going to be posting tomorrow evening. Kelly's currently thinking of dragging a single Darkling along as a guide, and leaving the rest tied up with vines in the hole left by the fallen tree's root system - unless X has some objection.

  The Hero This City Needs
Posted by: All Might - 06-13-2017, 12:00 AM - Forum: Coruscant - Replies (2)

All Might walked through the gate, and after a brief moment of disorientation, he found himself in front of the most beautiful city he had ever seen. The storm troopers he had helped were already transferring the wounded to a more mobile, flying vehicle. Soon they were off, with nothing more for him but a polite wave.

As he admired the scenery, he couldn't help but notice that there were a lot of the soldiers around. It was quite rare that he could turn his head and not notice the presence of white plastic armor.

What he really wanted to do was test out the differences in his body, but he couldn't help but feel if he started leaping from sky scraper to sky scraper, the military police presence wouldn't take kindly to it. He wasn't quite sure how actually evil this version of the Empire was, but in any case, the Emperor set the laws in the city. If he was going to continue being a hero, he would have to keep those laws.

So for now, he held back.

He meandered his way through the massive city, trying to get his head around all of it. He had spent nearly forty minutes wandering Coruscant when something finally got his attention.

"Thief!" someone cried, and All Might sprung into action.

"Stop right there!" he shouted, leaping over the street, and catching himself on the opposite sidewalk. He saw the thief, a child, practically, clutching at the purse as she ran as fast as she could carry herself.

He took another leap, at a running start, and practically shot over the heads of the others on the street- none of whom seemed particularly worried about the child running with the stolen bag.

"Ah! Ah!" she shouted, turning a corner down an alley- if one could even call it that. Even the thin space between buildings on Coruscant were well-lit and extravagantly decorated.

"Stop!" All Might commanded, and with a few speedy steps, he was in front of her. She couldn't stop herself in time, and bounced off his leg, dropping the purse in the process. All Might's hand darted out to catch her before she could fall.

"Don't hurt me! It was a dare! I had to, or they wouldn't... they wouldn't..."

"Look, if your friends are making you steal, you might want to consider hanging out with a different crowd!" All Might said, letting go of her once he was sure she wouldn't flop over, as he reached down to pick up the wallet.

"No, just- give that back, and let me go! I need to get to a lower tier!"

"Lower tier?"

"Halt." All Might turned around, and noticed three storm troopers, guns lowered.

"Ah, there's no problem officers." All Might said, putting his hand on the girl's shoulder, "The wallet is right here. No harm, no foul?" he asked hopefully, but something about the souless black gaze of their helmets told him it wouldn't be that simple, "She is just a child after all."

"She broke the law." one of them said, "She's coming with us."

"..." All Might glanced down at the girl, who was practically shivering in her boots, now, "Prison seems a bit much for a child, doesn't it?"

"This is Tier One. Criminal activity of any kind is not tolerated. Including vigilantism." the trooper warned, "Because you were acting in Coruscant's interests as you understood them, we'll let you off once. You're a new Prime, after all."

"How do you know I'm new?"

"Irrelevant." the trooper said. He turned to his two comrades, "Get the criminal."

"Isn't this a bit hasty?" All Might tried. The two troopers advanced regardless of his complaints, though he could tell their eyes were on him, beneath their helmets. They weren't stupid, after all. They knew he was something called a 'Prime' someone that could create things from Ominilium, that he was potentially dangerous. It was almost brave of them, to push him to choose between the law, and- not exactly an innocent, but a child all the same.

"If you continue to interfere in police business, we will consider you to be a criminal yourself. Back away, Prime."

All Might sighed, "I'm afraid I can't do that." he tossed the wallet forwards, towards the stormtroopers, before grabbing the girl and launching himself into the air. He dug his feet into the side of the building, and then made another jump, and then another. The girl began to scream, "Now then, my girl! It seems like we have need to leave the first Tier!"

"I- I uh, I..."

"Take your time!" All Might said, the sound of sirens however alerted him that there was at least one vehicle in pursuit.

"Uh, there's tunnels, and things. Little secret passages. And there are the elevators- but they have cameras."

"We'll have to risk it! Which way?"

The girl pointed, and he was off like a shot.

After this little bit of testing, he knew that he was definitely weaker than his 100% form... but considering it was without strain, and he didn't have to revert to his emaciated form at all, it was almost a fair trade... almost. Hopefully nothing in the Omniverse would be dangerous enough to warrant his old strength.

The girl ordered directions at him, and he followed, soon enough, they were before an elevator, already filling with people heading to the lower tiers.

Storm troopers appeared in view just as the elevator doors began to close, and All Might silently regretted that the Star Wars franchise had ever been made.

Men Felt And Feared Thee Of Old
Posted by: Jade Harley - 06-12-2017, 10:20 PM - Forum: The Vasty Deep - Replies (19)

Nighttime settled over the island of Costa del Sol like a thick cerulean veil, the mellow glistening of streetlamps bathing the streets and cobblestone passages in rivers of bluish-grey light. The gentle rocking of the ocean and ships in their rectangular wharves blended with the distantly raucous whoops of the party district into a sweet, seamless cadence. When Jade chanced a look out towards the waterfront, the soft white sails of fishing boats hauling in their catch flapped and fluttered on the cool night breeze, the angling wings of seabirds and pelicans occasionally spearing through the clouds.

It was a lot different from the Nexus they had just travelled through, that was for sure!

An evening haze and churned-up moisture from the street cast everything in an almost palpable fog, falling flat in the presence of the gurgling fountain which sat at the center of the square. The leafy fronds of plant life sprouted from pots, — the area was littered with various works of ceramic sculpture— their green hues turned almost black by the absence of the sunnily bright light of day. Jade’s footsteps were soft as she strolled into the square, the gorgeous silver-gold bulb of a lantern passing over her head without a sound.

Rebecca was there, too, skipping behind and looking at the world around her with apparent wonder sparkling in her wide, pale eyes. While the twisted veil of naivety and childish imaginings had been partly lifted from her mind by Tearen Wover, Jade had no intention of letting the Little Sister be introduced to the darker parts of the Omniverse just yet. Even if she already had been introduced, technically, due to the Witch of Space’s carelessness back in the Frozen Fields and her own past life in... what was it...? Rapture?

With scarcely a swish of her starry skirts, Jade sat primly on the edge of the fountain. The concrete was cool and smooth when she laid her palms flat against it, carefully balanced so it would be easier for her to conjure up an evening meal. A comforting gleam of Omnilium settled in a molten liquid glob between her palms as she toyed with it for several minutes, pulling and weaving the soft strands into a cat's cradle of multi-faceted color wound around her fingers, eventually settling upon the idea of three nice, substantial sandwiches.

The first bite was crisp and sharp, ripe with juicy tomato and spinach leaves. Rebecca accepted one and nibbled at it, settling in beside Jade to stare out at the water, crow plushie tucked under her arm. As quiet and unobtrusive as ever, Becquerel sagged onto his belly and gobbled his up in one quick snap of his teeth, neon green gums and tongue flashing.

As she chewed, Jade thought that she could very well remain there forever. She felt present, wholly at peace with the still moment cast in dusky shadow all around her. To become a statue sculpted into the side of that fountain would have been a dream come true, her ears alone privy to the soft whispers of the gurgling water and the secrets it so yearned, ached to tell, kept safe-guarded in marble for a stony eternity.

But, the ocean beckoned. The shores of the island were pebbled all over with scalloped seashells and sharpened bits of glittering bottle glass, a magical and wondrous sight to behold at sunset. Jade had seen it— the domed roofs gleaming with a stately, distinctly imperial copper tone as the jeweled beach winked and shone like the dying embers of a fire, the orange glow flickering and fluttering until it was snuffed out by the lapping edges of the tide.

If such sights as that were so readily apparent upon first entering the Vasty Deep, Jade reasoned, then surely it could only become more magnificent the further she ventured out on the water. And the only way to do that, it seemed, was to take to the sea on some vessel or another.

The dog-eared girl had absolutely no clue of where she might find a boat, but the nearest harbor looked to be a reasonable place to start! So long as she kept her expectations relatively low and her head firmly on her shoulders, nothing at all could bring her down. It wasn’t as if she was expecting a yacht or a royal liner, after all, with champagne or stringed fairy lights or the purest sunlight captured in crystalline flute glasses. Even a dingy little fishing boat would do!

Kicking her feet up onto the stone bench, Jade scarfed down the left over crumbs of her sandwich, and then contemplated summoning another.

The world could wait for one more sandwich.

  Repliku Roster Lock
Posted by: Jack Darby - 06-12-2017, 06:21 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (4)

Starting next week, I want a roster lock as Repliku for a year. I'll still be able to change Veritas into others, but I need to stick with Repliku since my muse for him has been bothering me to the point of searching the web for oh so many sites where I could play him. I'm trying to get it to quiet down so would the staff help?
