  Stage start!
Posted by: Ciel - 10-20-2017, 07:56 AM - Forum: The Nexus - Replies (1)

A red-armored girl was kneeling in a pitch black scenery. She'd see nothing, but the faint shape of what seemed to be a person, though somehow, it didn't felt like a human nor a reploid. For whatever reason, that figure was grinning while staring at Ciel, not saying a word.

The scientist attempted to talk to it instead, but found so to be futile, as her voice didn't seem to be coming out. She was confused and also very scared. She felt powerless, especially when in front of such a thing. Ciel had long given up the idea that whatever it was, it surely was not your average, common being.

“W-what's going to happen now…” thought Ciel, standing still as the grinning figure kept on staring silently at her. Her eyes were shaking slightly, as the young scientist was starting to let herself be victim to the pressure.

Out of a sudden, however, the strange being had the silence cut short when they began to talk. “My name is Omni. This is not the world you know. This is the Omniverse. You interest me, so I have made you part of it. The Omniverse is a place that reflects the wishes of those who are part of it. But! There are rules. I will explain them only once, so listen carefully.”

Their voice was masculine and rather imposing, which only served to increase Ciel’s fear of the current situation. Interest him? Omniverse? The scientist immediately thought that this thing surely sounded like some sort of god or crazy strong being.

Before continuing, Omni, or at least how the figure identified himself as, handed a little, glimmering sphere. It had a perfect, round shape and it glew with different colors simultaneously; Ciel couldn't just not admit that the item was extremely beautiful, not the most beautiful thing she has ever seen though, but it was pretty high on the ladder. Then, she raised her head to stare again at Omni, who resumed his explanation.

“This is Omnilium. It’s what ties the Omniverse together. Without it, you are nothing. With it, anything you desire can be yours. But you will need more than this. If you desire it enough, you will find it. You will find that using it comes naturally. Just think of what you desire most.

“You will not be alone in the Omniverse. There are others. Of course, they, too desire Omnilium. Do not fear death. For as long as you interest me, you will be reborn.

“That’s all you need to know right now. You’ll figure out the rest soon enough. I’ll be watching … and waiting.”

“D-death? Did I misheard you? Hey!”

Sadly, Ciel wouldn't have her doubt cleared anytime soon. When she came to herself, the scientist immediately realised that she wasn't in the black void anymore. No, instead, she was standing in an elevator whose shape was similar to the one found on the resistance base. Upon looking around her, and judging by the sound the machine was making, it seems that she was moving down, however, it was impossible for her to know where the ground was.

This new area was if a deep white, contrasting with the darkness of the pitch black void. Also, unlike the void, light illuminated the place, though it was unknown for the girl where this brightness came from, as no sun nor artificial source of light seemed to be present anywhere. No other color could be seen anywhere, if it wasn't by several gates set on the distance, which looked very small, but recognizable enough.

“I wonder for how long will this go d—” Almost as if it was waiting on Ciel to ask, the elevator made a sound and then stopped, only to turn off afterwards. Albeit strange, the scientist figured that it was only an one-way travel with no chance of going back the way she came. Gulping a bit at this fact, the scientist moved out of the elevator and onto the infinite whiteness.

Ciel looked scared and unsure, walking slowly and with one of her hands pressed tightly against her chest. She looked around, but unlike previous times, there were humans donning all kinds of clothes and armor, robots of varying models, and even animals standing in their two legs. This last fact surprised her, though, as she had never seen animals do something like that before. “Maybe all animals could do it when they used to exist?” wondered the blond scientist while staring at these miracles of nature—how she referred to them—from afar. However, when one of these “miracles” shot a stare back at her, Ciel averted her eyes and decided to stop looking at them, as it surely was disrespectful.

Not sure about what to do now, the young scientist figured that the best course of action was to actually ask someone else. So, gathering some courage, Ciel moved towards one of these many strangers—a nameless guy—and proceeded with her questions.

After a quick Q&A session, Ciel received plenty of information about the area she was in now. The place was named Nexus and its purpose was to serve as a point of connection between the Verses, worlds that compose the majority, if not all, of the Omniverse. However, this passerby could give her answers about the nature of the white canvas, but nothing more. So, having most of her doubts cleared off, Ciel gave him thanks and bid farewell to this stranger.

“Alright, but knowing more about this place didn't give me an idea of what to do now…” Ciel sighed and then drew the rainbow-colored sphere out. The scientist stared sadly at it, while she could only wonder, “If I desire it enough, will this item let me see you again…?” The image of a red-armored guy holding a green, hardlight sword flashed in her memory for a second, only to vanish into nothing shortly after. “Zero…” Letting out a sigh, Ciel began to think—again—in what would be her next step to take. “I think that it would be better if I had something to sit on.”

Almost as if could read her thoughts, the ball she was holding shone with a warm light. Ciel felt she should be shocked, but the current situation somehow felt familiar and thus she just stared at the light for as long it was necessary, awaiting for something to happen. It took a few minutes, probably, but the light finally died down and in front of the scientist was now a chair. It was green in color, covered with a soft, green fabric on the seat and was kept in place with a thin arm joined to a tripod.

“I see, it was like he said—this object will grant all my desires, but why it didn't glow when I wished to see Zero?” she wondered. Ciel then kept on staring at the chair for a while, before she finally sat on it. It was unbelievably comfy, much more than anything she had sit on before.
“It's no use to keep thinking about that, time to figure out my next step, there must be something I could do here.” That said, the scientist bopped her face twice with open palms, as the grim expression that she had on her face became slightly more bright. Although she probably won’t admit it, Ciel was hoping that someone would come and led her a helping her.

Koola dropped to his knees. His eyes blurred over, his heart beat thudding, sweat coating his face. Blinking, trying to absolve the white from his vision, he kneeled and thrust himself into a standing position. Vertigo overtook him, and he threw out his arms into thin air, taking small shuffling steps to regain his balance. He breathed out, finding that the burning in his lungs was a result of him holding his breath.

Breath?

Koola stared at his hands. Purple flesh covered his fingers and palms. Frowning, he flexed them, ensuring that he was indeed witnessing his own appendages operating at his thoughts. Where was the metallic steel of his artificial form?

"But ... I was a machine ... wasn't I?" the changeling prince said to the expanse.

Dredging up memories from the floor of his mind, Koola thought back. Much of his recent past was a haze. His long term recollection was fine though; scenes of battling the saiyan that killed Frieza replayed vividly in his mind, as did his surprising defeat and the inferno of the sun that almost claimed his life. For a time after the flesh sloughed from his cooked, tenderised bones, he only saw black, but once the Big Gete Star merged with him, he remembered every second of every moment thanks to the computerisation of his memories.

As the sole consciousness of a huge, robotic planetoid, Koola drifted through space, searching for resources to consume in order to continue fuelling himself and expanding the Big Gete Star. Several years went by where he acted as a devourer of worlds, sucking each planet dry of any and all valuable assets, including life. Eventually he came upon the namekian home only to be interrupted by Goku, Vegeta and the rest of their pathetic troupe. Spawning robotic versions of his base form and branding them Metal Koolas, he sent them to battle. The two dirty saiyans managed to destroy the first robot, but another thousand soon put them down.

Siphoning energy from their Super Saiyan bodies, Koola failed to realise the depth of the reserves and let his guard down. Funnelling him with more power than he could process, Koola soon overloaded, which gave the monkeys the opportunity to finally end the changeling prince.

But that barely begun to explain where he was now and why he had his old meat body back. Another memory swirled just out of his perception, as if it bookended his life and the beginning of this new existence.

But where could he be that would grant him his body back?

He sighed. "Hell. I'm in Hell, aren't I?"

He strolled over to a fountain, the only object in the entire bleary landscape. Built of skulls, crimson blood spurted from its apex and settled into the basin.

"Not exactly what I would call suitable," Koola said out loud, his eyes moving about as if someone would appear and greet him. "I was a prince to a genocidal empire. I erased entire cultures and civilisations from the face of the galaxy. And this is my punishment? A white void with a blood fountain? I think someone made a mistake somewhere."

Although maybe his punishment was to waste away in this mind numbing realm. Koola hated to be idle. An eternity of this could be worse than any torture inflicted on his flesh. Left with nothing but his thoughts.

Koola scowled, thinking about how he ended up here. To lose to a dirty monkey, and twice! Saiyans were twice as stupid as they were strong, and none of their kind had ever posed a threat to them. Even King Vegeta fell to Frieza's power, as did the majority of their flea bitten race when his younger brother destroyed their planet. And yet two remnants of that mercenary species not only held their ground but ultimately killed Koola and his family.

His first death to Goku was based on an underestimation. He felt foolish admitting it to himself, since he branded Frieza a bull-headed child for declaring his superiority to the saiyan despite mounting evidence to the contrary, but Koola had fallen into the same trap.

After merging with the Big Gete Star, his strength was unstoppable, but again his arrogance cost him. If he had simply killed Goku and Vegeta rather than try to drink them dry, he would still be alive. Hell, even if he had put them somewhere else away from the remainder of his brain, he could have protected himself.

So was that it? Was Koola no longer the strongest being in the galaxy? Had two filthy saiyans surpassed the might of his race and left him in the dust? Even being artificially empowered hadn't been enough.

No, the survival of the fittest did not necessitate strength. In both of his defeats, a calmer head may have helped him prevail, although his first death was due to a lack of strength. Perhaps there was a trade-off? As much as he was grateful for his cybernetic upgrade, nothing felt better than to have a body of flesh and blood; maybe a small insertion of technology would increase his strength without losing the aspects that made him different to an unfeeling, unintuitive machine.

Either way, that train of thought appeared useless. Stuck in a blinding white Hell, how would he claw his way back to the living? Was that even possible?

No, he wasn't giving up. Channelling his ki, a purple aura engulfed his body. His three toed feet left the ground as his body levitated. Koola's red eyes scoured the horizon, hoping to find anything else in this wasteland. Another damned soul could possibly be wandering around; if the changeling was stuck here, walking is about all he could do to pass eternity.

On the faint dividing line between sky and ground, Koola thought he could make something out in the distance. Indiscernible from his vantage point, he sped through the air for a closer look.

I hope this isn't my damn brother in here too. Being stuck with him for all eternity really would be Hell.

  The Palebloodied
Posted by: Okor - 10-19-2017, 09:36 PM - Forum: The Pale Moors - No Replies

Darkshire bore its scars with spite, rather than pride. The assault had broken the walls, shattered the earth, but failed to scratch the spirit of its people. Werewolves reduced to twisted skeletons and ragged cloaks of fur hung from chains upon the battered masonry, a reminder to all those that would challenge its right to exist of the fate that awaited them. Grim men donning gorgets, silver trinkets, and garlands of garlic patrolled the walls, crossbows clutched tight in gloved hands, peering out into the mist, watching the erratic dances of Will O’ The Wisps in the mire.

Beneath the surface though, its wounds festered. While the devilish drilling machine had long since been dismantled and melted down into fresh blades for those that still stood against the monstrous menace, the tunnels it left in its wake still honeycombed Darkshire beneath the surface. Sewers and derelict basements fed into the twisted passageways, wandering ghouls and starved beasts patrolling its depths.

Unfortunately, they were not the worst thing lurking beneath the gaze of the good people of Darkshire.

The cultist’s blade sank into the ghoul’s neck, gnarled fangs gnashing at the robe-swaddled arm wrapped around its throat. Diseased blood spilled from the wound as its emaciated, twisted form sank to the stone floor, accursed body spasming as the necromantic energy that infused its being was no longer able to sustain its blighted existence. Shaking her head, she stowed the black-drenched blade within her robes, her veins white against her brown skin.

She let out a sigh, remembering when life was different. She couldn’t call it better. Years of her life whiled away in the shining spires of Coruscant, clad in gaudy finery, drunk on the finest wines the hanging gardens of the city could produce, nerves set alight by the latest chemical concoction.

It was different. She did not dare say it was better. One wrong word saw her cast down, parroting her latest companion’s affection for Darkshire. He disappeared not long after. She ran before the net could close around her, friends forgetting her face as quickly as they possibly could. She fled across the nexus, what few possessions she could carry on her person clutched tight.

Within a month, she was just another face in Darkshire’s slums, spending her nights cold and starving beneath a sickly green moon, looming overhead, groaning in torment as the chem-hunger bit deep into her bones, writhing, twisting, tormenting. Every instant was agony, her body betraying her in favour of the alchemical ambrosia she had left behind in the shimmering spires. Just one drop, a single drop, and everything would be alright, she had lied to herself.

She didn’t feel it, now. Disease wracked her frame, cancerous tumours building within her slight figure. It was much the same, except without the false hope: There was nothing she could do to rid herself of it, no magical elixir that would wipe her corruption clean.

“Jess, are you gonna stand around all day, or are you going to get moving?” Keith stood further ahead of her, two gnarled claws topping arms like blighted tree trunks, piggy, red eyes staring out at her from beneath a thoroughly scarred brow. The plagues had eased her pain, but for him, it had given him purpose. A rusted iron maul was slung across his back, stained with the brains and blood of the beasts in their path, a puckered mass of burnt flesh adorning his chest. He was stripped of his strength, his honour, and his hand, and tossed into the ghettos: only the touch of their new lord had given him that which he had lost. Power and pride were his once more, at the simple cost of pestilence.

A shade slid past her, sallow skin over an emaciated frame cloaked by sable cloth, a well-used crossbow slung over slim shoulders. If rumours held true, Damien was the cursed scion of a Noble house from Camelot, a witch’s curse driving him to madness, and into Darkshire. His babbling had ceased since he drunk the bubonic blood of gods, his broken mind stitched together by a thousand parasitical jaws.

Flickering flames beckoned them forth, the trio slipping through a crack in the stone, a seismic scar from the last attempt on Darkshire’s sovereignty. Keith grunted as he struggled to fit his muscled frame through the crack, a scrap of skin scraping away on the jagged rock as he did so. They emerged into a cavern lit with crude braziers, burning charcoal serving precious little purpose but to emphasize the shadows obscuring the faces within jaundiced hoods. There were dozens of others within the grotto, the anonymity granted by their cloaks a mere formality: they each shared the same blood, the same blessing, the same burden, the same back-alley shanties.

The First Among Equals left the incoming trio, Keith’s partially Orcish blood allowing him to stand tall before the assemblage, throwing his arms wide as he stood before them, a smouldering brazier serving to display his scars, infections, blisters, and buboes. “Brothers! Sisters!” He called out, his guttural voice echoing around the cavern, smoke tinged with noxious herbs gathering, rising upwards through cracks, abandoned tunnels, and sewer grates. ”We stand beneath a city! A city, unbroken by the lost and the damned that skulk in the mist outside its walls! A city, bloodied, but unbowed! A city that has cast us down, and exiled us outside of their sight!”

“And it is our city!”
He howled, his fellow cultists wordlessly chanting, slamming the hilts of their blades against the cavern floor. ”They are unenlightened, and unscarred! They suffer through this world, and have yet to learn how to harness their pain, and be freed from it!” He raised a twisted blade, using it to tear through his forearm, silent as pale blood seeped from shredded veins, raising it in the air, cursed once-crimson blood flowing down his scarred skin. ”We are the Palebloodied! Strength courses through our veins! Our breath is death, and our touch brings life! With every step, we spread our disease, and our blessing!”

The cultists gave a roar of approval, breathing in the thick atmosphere of brotherhood, toxic fumes, and pestilence one final time before slinking off into the tunnels and sewers, working their way back to what passed for homes: shanties, shacks, and back alley lean-tos.

Only the trio remained in the subterranean temple, each standing around the central brazier, its flame now a dull green, its flickering scarcely illuminating the first three to take up the curse.

”A nice speech,” Jess said, her once-constant twitching reduced to a wary look in her eyes, her nerves now soothed and numbed by her infections.

Keith shrugged, his bloodied wound already starting to seal over, the flow of blood already staunched. ”They need purpose. They need strength. They need a vision.” The half-orc licked his tusked lips, deep in thought.

”Blood,” whispered Damien, breaking his silence, his voice deep despite its volume, pervading the place of worship. ”The blood of gods. We tasted it once before,  and it gave us this. We supped on the flesh of The Vector, and the stuff of Primes only served to strengthen us.”

Keith nodded, turning to his former socialite sister-in-faith. ”Jess, gather a few of the stronger brothers, and keep an eye out for any primes. Take what you can before Omni reclaims their bodies, and bring it to us. Nurgleth knows we'll get more use out of it than they will.”

He leaned forward, gnarled fingers stained with his own blood gripping the edge of the brazier, tusks tainted with disease forming into a grin. ”Tonight, we shall feast on Godling’s flesh.”

The three nodded to each other, going their separate ways. Damien had his own gangrenous gang to run, their eyes and ears spreading throughout darkshire and the swamplands beyond, Keith had a shrine to the Plagued God they had sworn their souls to, his newfound purpose in this life.

And Jess…

She had to kill a Prime.

  Cannon Fodder Advice?
Posted by: Oleander - 10-19-2017, 09:10 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (7)

So I'm wanting to do a move called Shield Guardian. These are basically, as the thread suggests, cannon fodder. They are expected to be destroyed and their fodder even suggests they are a "disposable sidekick with no moral drawback." I have three ways to go about this, that I'd like advice on gauging pros and cons of.

  1. Move: This is the original idea. It consists of manifesting up to a maximum number of Shield Guardians, similar to the Zombie example, but with higher defense and no attack. It is given a target to either "Protect" or "Thwart" but beyond deflecting attacks it does little else, and does so until its destruction, or it is reassigned (manually) to another target and respective action.
  2. Forces: I could just wait for Forces and make Shield Guardians my tanky forces, with an enhanced version (Glass Sentinel) as the Prime Force over them.
  3. Forces + Move: The Glass Sentinel could be the Force, which has the Move to create Shield Guardians.
I'm leaning toward #3 myself, considering a Glass Sentinel would make an awesome sidekick. Most likely the entire "force" would consist of 1 Glass Sentinel, instead of 5.

  Beach Bum's Back Home
Posted by: Dust - 10-19-2017, 06:50 AM - Forum: The Vasty Deep - Replies (3)

She had on a yellow polka-dot bikini and sunglasses with thick red rims. Her long dirty blonde hair fell around her shoulders in curls and spirals. She started out at the relatively empty beach, the sun breaching the horizon and reminding the world that the new day always comes. She was hoping to nab the best spot a girl can get, for reasons she would later reveal to her friends and friends only. For now, the only people on the beach were the lifeguards, an ambulance, and a-!!

Right there on the edge of the water, there was a small crowd of secondaries, milling at the edge of some police tape that roped off the immediate area. A light on top of a beach vehicle swirled, red light washed over the people for a second before sweeping away like a fast-moving lighthouse.

When Janet moved over she could see the handsome face of a large man being turned up and a lifeguard-type pressing her lips into his and blowing. The well-built chest of the man expanded before she stopped, then she went back to pumping his heart with the flat of her palms. “One, two, three.” she pinched his nose and blew back into his lungs. This went on as it has been for a good 3 more minutes, her colleagues starting to think the man wasn’t coming back,

Then suddenly a gasp of air escaped the huge man.

Dust breathed out, and then breathed in, his eyes slamming open and focusing on the colorful sky of the beach for a long moment before he became aware of several things. One, he surrounded by people. Civilians and medics, and one stormtrooper. The next thing he felt was power coursing through his body, someone has been making lip contact with him, quite a bit actually. He let his head lull before his eyes came to a pretty woman in a long brown ponytail. He felt his cheeks turn hot as he imagined her being the one that was kissing him.

“You’re alright, thank Omni.” She said, touching her hand to her chest and sitting down properly.

The rest of the crowd was also relieved, apparently, many of them have been holding their breath this whole time.

  [Flashback] Lonely at the top
Posted by: Oleander - 10-18-2017, 10:07 PM - Forum: The Astral Realm - Replies (3)

“Herrrg… ngn…” The crushing weight is what finally woke Stein. Not the sound of crashing, or the constant ringing of his phone, but the sudden impact of something landing upon him, drilling his body through the third floor of his building down into the basement. After a brief moment, the weight lifted and he could hear a thundering impact not far off.

The hero rolled out of what used to be his bed and snatched his ruined cellphone off the ground. With a sigh, he clinched it in his hand. Much like stitching flesh, the bits and pieces grew back together. He powered the device on and flipped through his texts.

“Attention, all S class heroes. Dragon-level threat has been sighted in X-City.”

“Thaaat’s what woke me… Cool.” Pocketing the phone in his fuzzy pajama pants, the hero flicked his hands up. The sphere appeared between them then after a moment of focus, it shatters, reforming into full sized Comet Shield. He tossed the shield and then leapt upon it to surf through the air as easily as he would slide sock footed through the kitchen.

Up and out of the hole, Stein quickly analyzed the situation. A group of giant, dragon-like creatures were swarming the sky and land. He could already see a number of the other heroes had come to the aid. “Best not keep them waiting,” he mumbled to himself mid-yawn. The comet shield beneath his feet moved at the slightest twitch of his feet, propelling him above the buildings and forward.

In each hand he created another orb, tossing them left and right as he proceeded. Like individual egg timers, they powered up, and then shattered to reform into Shield Guardians. These glass soldiers race across the ground, parting ways with Stein to preform damage control. As was his job. It was why he was lumped in with S-class as an A-class hero. Twelve Shield Guardians in total were summoned, and as they raced away they were constantly growing in their own individual power.

Skyward aimed, he surfed above a great many of the dragons. A few tried to take a bite out of him, but a tilt of the shield and all they received was a snout of glass, or a scraping of their teeth along an impenetrable wall. They were not very agile, and that was one of their greatest flaws. One attack and they flew away to remain airborne, while Stein moved more like a humming bird.

Both hands came together to create another orb. The glassy structure grew rapidly at first, then slowed down as it reached the size of a basketball. He moved the orb overhead as it began crackling with condensed magical energy. It might have seemed dangerous, but even the heroes that spotted this soon to be massive growing orb did not make an effort to move out of the way. The Turtle Guard was pretty famous for lacking any devastating attacks.

One hand left the growing shield as another dragon approached. As the creature’s snout slammed into Stein’s palm, pushing him back through the air, a crystalline shell began to form, like a splash of water in a sphere around the dragon. As it completed, the winged beast fell from the sky, unable to flap its mighty wings in the new structure.

“Almighty Shield,” Stein announced. He was not big on announcing the names of his moves; that seemed quite cliche. However, this was the one exception. The words spread like a crack of thunder across the cityscape below. The orb overhead had grown to the mass of a large man. Most of his shields required a sphere barely larger than a golf ball, but this was his greatest creation.

The last hand feeding power into the shield lowered. The crackling orb fell to the ground below. On impact with pavement, it shatters. The magical glass-like shockwave spread faster than wild fire across gasoline soaked dry grass. Stein’s gaze quickly picked out all the dragons he could see as the growing dome raced towards them. Buildings, animals, people, they were all spared but the dragons bubbled by the shield and forced up. Heroes passed through, gaining from the shield a second wind. Buildings were repaired, civilians and animals were healed.

The Turtle Guard watched as the Shield Guardians below threw the dragons into the air, the bubble shields making them nigh weightless. Those who could fly grabbed the creatures, or assaulted them through the one-way shield. One by one, the creatures were slaughtered. Defenseless and imprisoned, there was no real fight. None could break his shields…

The danger level was obviously in their numbers, not their individual strength. This must be how Saitama feels. He had woken up, hoping for something more… thrilling. All he got was a cool scene of flying bus-sized dragons.

Almighty Shield was a powerhouse. It took a while to create, almost a minute even with his great reserve of energy. It was the opposite of Saitama’s One Punch – which remained the only thing Stein knew could defeat it. Even Metal Knight had yet to build something on such a grand scale.

Six hours later… Stein was back in his repaired apartment, watching TV. His head rested on the arm of his couch, with a phone held to his ear. “No, I’m fine…. Seriously… I told you why, the S-class heroes are jerks… Well not all of them, but a lot of them…  No, I won’t name an-- … I’m not being disrespectful, I’m just saying I like A-class, all my friends are A-class.” The conversation continues like this for an hour.

It was hard for people to understand. Ranks and Class meant so little to Stein. Heroing was not a competition, it was a job, just like anything else. S-class did not offer anything he wanted, and it just meant he would have to attend those awful meetings. As A-rank, he could just show up to a high danger crisis, do his thing and not have to worry about the semantics. After all, those meetings were usually about how to save lives and property – which he had in spades. If anything, they needed him.

Stein’s thoughts were interrupted by a knock on his door. With a groan he rolled off the couch and yanked on some pants. When he opened the door, he was met with his cute neighbor in an arm sling. “Hey…”

“Sup?” Stein smiles. “You need help watering your plants again?”

The young redhead shakes her head and smiles. “No, just… baked you a thank-you pie. Cherry with chocolate chips and mint, I know it’s your favorite.” It was plastered on his fan page at this point… chocolate and mint anything was high on his list. “I thought I was going to die when that beam crushed me…”

Stein waved off the notion. “That was my bad… I had my phone on silent, I should have stopped all of that before it even happened. I’m just sorry I couldn’t instantly heal your arm.”

The young woman laughed. “Doctor said I should have had a collapsed lung and a dozen ruptured veins… I think you fixed the issues that mattered.” Stein nodded. He’d accept that much at least. She handed over the pie, complete with a quart of ice cream to melt over it. “Anyway, thanks.”

As she turned to leave, he watched her sashay away. “Hey,” he began. She turned and offered that cute, bright smile. “Would you…” He tried once more, but hesitated.

“Would I what?”

Like to catch a movie? Have dinner with me? Netflix and chill? No. “Would you like your pie tin back? I think I still have the one from last time.”

“Sure, just bring them over when you’re done, okay?”

He nodded. After nudging the door closed with his foot, a long, annoyed sigh escaped him. What was I thinking? Of course she’d say yes… Why would anyone say no? I saved her life, she’d be obligated. Hell, everyone would be obligated. Another downside of being a famous hero; dating sucked.

He returned to the couch. The pie tin burned his leg even through his pants, but his tough skin could handle it. He spooned some of the butterpeacon ice cream onto the crust and scooped up a hearty spoonful of the combination. Another successful mission, another boring night in: it made Stein almost miss his C-class days.

Starting Moves:
Yeoui  (600 OM)
Requires Physical Strength and Ranged Proficiency
Yeoui is the sacred staff of the monkey king, it takes the shape of a 5 ft stone staff. Mori can use this staff in two ways, firstly is using it in his use of the staff-centric martial art Pumba.  He also uses it's ability to change it's size offensively by having it quickly extend itself and retract back to normal size, though doing this requires Mori to stand still while it extends and leaves him with only the option to drop Yeoui if he wants to avoid an attack coming at him while it extends.. The extention itself can reach up to 50 meters and takes about 2 seconds to fully extend, it hits about as hard as one of Mori's own strikes. After extension Mori can choose when it retracts but because of it's unwieldy length at full extension he typically doesn't fight with it fully extended, the retraction itself only takes 1 second.

Kick of Blue Dragon (600 OM)
[Tier 1 Super Move]
Requires Ranged Proficiency

Mori gathers up energy in his foot for 3 seconds as a blue dragon forms from his leg. He then lets out a mighty kick which sends the dragon at the opponent, clashing with explosive force. The dragon is 10 feet in diameter and travels as fast as a canonball. This is one of the most stamina draining moves in Mori's arsenal.

Back to the Lab Again (Not Again!)
Posted by: Guu - 10-18-2017, 05:31 PM - Forum: The Vasty Deep - Replies (1)

After Dr. Alphys returned to the Avengers Tower, she locked herself away in the tower lab. With the love of her life off on a deadly mission all she had to pass the time was her work. For what she figured was a week or so, she was a hermit to the rest of the Avengers, tinkering away at her latest invention. It was something she knew would change how the Omniverse communicated, or at least how the Avengers communicated.

Her process was simple: she summoned, tinkered with it, studied how it worked. When she ran into a dead end, she then summoned a better version from what she learned. Being a prime helped with her job as an inventor, but just added a middle man to the science angle of things. Made more difficult by the fact holograms was an area she never traveled before.

After all her efforts, for the awkward tests, the trials and errors, she finally had something down that was workable. All that was left one lest test run, a human test run.

Across from her was a tube, ten feet high and twenty feet wide, barely clearing the height of the ceiling lab. She made it so big knowing the Avengers may attract hulking brutes one day. Knowing that she was immortal only gave her mild comfort in testing the chamber on herself. She pulled out her phone, and called Jarvis.

“Greetings Dr. Alphys, how may I help you?”

“You know what I’m about to do, don’t be coy!”

“No need to be impolite”

With one big breath, she stepped into the chamber.

Character Switch: SARU to W.D. Gaster
Posted by: W.D. Gaster - 10-18-2017, 12:07 PM - Forum: Joining - Replies (6)

Character name:
W.D. Gaster

Character source:
Undertale

Character history:
Gaster comes from a family of font skeletons that once resided on the surface in harmony with Humans years before the War.

As a child, he was raised by his father, Semi, and his mother Antiqua; while a calm and quiet boy, he did get himself into trouble because of his curiosity, but was for the most part, a good apple. He was highly intelligent for his age, a step above his peers, but was often frail and bullied by Humans and by rare cases, monsters. Despite of which, he was a perservent individual and as the young skeleton grew into finding the one thing that inspired him: science. Of course, it took years to develop on this new pursuit, albeit picking up on some side-hobbies here and there, as well taking some new perspectives, however there had been some cases where Humans were starting to grow hostile at their monster breathen; a warning sign for a conflict that was about to happen.

A year later, in his youth, the remains of his family, among the rest of the monsters who survived the village conflict, migrated and went into the underground of Mount Ebott to hide. This was only a precursor to events sometime the future and while he lost his mother, he kept close to Semi whom took care of things. Even so, he continued with his pursuits and tried to assist his father all he could, knowing the hard situation, he did what he could to help much like doing chores, running errands, the usual. Upon until now, he was mostly homeschooled for most of his years but when a school system was eventually established, he was sent for attendance.

While there, he met some of the familiar monsters and some were new, however, the only other skeleton was Arial, another survivor of the conflict and with some unexpected events in the mix, his future love interest.

The years passed and the new couple had their first son, Sans and then their second, Papyrus, who Semi, despite his age, got to see for himself before he fell down due to old age. Semi's eventual passing was hard on Gaster for sometime but his wife and kids supported him especially in terms of his scientific pursuits while Arial cared for the children. However, as it seemed to be, he was being more or so a workaholic which worried his wife as he spent less time with his sons in the following weeks. At this time, the Underground was getting a bit more populated but not by much before Gaster became the Royal Scientist.

Near the coming time, the relationship would become strained between the parents and Sans, the eldest, noticed it with occasional arguments at times.

Eventually so, the King would notice the brilliance of Gaster's works in the many fields he worked in within the scientific community and be the one that brought his family in for visitations from time to time for tea. For sometime, the Gaster family were friends with the Dreemurrs around their youth and having the need to improve things in the Underground for the growing population, the King had requested Gaster's assistance. Upon this, Gaster was eventually made into the Royal Scientist and began work immediately.

Peace was the normalcy for now until several years later, a sole Human fell down and everything changed for better or for worse.

As more residents of the Underground came, changes came along with it especially with the construction of the CORE in the reaching branch of Hotland. In its early days, the Underground was barren and lacked any scientific advancements and now with it, the monsters were beginning to notice. However, despite his absence from the family, Gaster did take the time to drop by every now and then, though once the CORE was fully completed, he came back for some time but it would be only so long.

One day, the Underground was struck with tragedy when the Dreemurrs had lost two of their children and the said incident had agitated the Humans from the surface on a bloody rampage. Arial, who was in the Royal Guard, was summoned while Gaster remained to watch the children for awhile and once returned, Gaster left to see the King who declared war on the Humans. Preparations were made and the monsters marched off to war with the King's lead and the ending result was a massacre among the monsters. Among one of the victims was Arial, who had been killed by a Human, leaving Sans and Papyrus motherless before the mass exodus of surviving, orphaned and wounded monsters sealed under the creation of the Barrier by the seven Human mages.

In the aftermath of the war, Gaster didn't see his children again until the King brought them along in as a result of Sans partaking a sentry duty in his late childhood. While noted for his knack in the scientific fields, he was eventually promoted as something of an apprentice and while Gaster worked behind the scenes, Sans was out front with his duties, both on field and in the lab, however the War and Arial's death has impacted his views on Humans, now full of disdain and sadness.

The next big project Gaster worked with was with Alphys on terms of the DT Extractor among other things in efforts for the King's assignment to find an alternate way to shatter the Barrier to free monsterkind from the Underground as well as other important things. This was during the time that the other Human Souls would fall down and set off a chain of events leading all the way to Sans' departure from the team and the eventual incident at the CORE that sent Gaster into the Void, shattering fragments of him across time-space.

As it felt like an eternity, he was trapped there and was slowly driven to madness on escape.

The only one that would remember the incident was Sans and with Gaster unable to get out, he was slowly transformed into something else from once was a skeleton, changed into a format of an mysterious entity made of shadow and a now glitched soul. In his time trapped, he grew more distant in his feelings if not patient and as part of the Void, he had the ability to see all timelines and serve as some sort of observer, watching everything that is anything while the rest of the monsters went of with their lives, including his sons.

Eventually, the fateful day that the eighth Human fell down and messed around the timelines, either it's a Pacifist, Neutral or Genocide run, he knows them all but as much as he deeply misses his sons and his beloved wife, he can't go back, if ever; however as if fate has unexpected plan, an abnormality came as a flash of a mysterious white light engulfed the Void and it wouldn't be long before he would reawaken in freedom, given to be another chance.

Starting Moves:
Binding Shadows (Ranged, Area Attack, Debuff) 300 OM: As this requires concentration, Gaster need about ~3 seconds before pillars of shadow tendrils extend from the underground and attack his opponents in field. The debuff will last as long as the opponents are trapped in the shadowy tendrils, however, opponents that have a higher stats than him will prove as a challenge as he mostly takes advantage on the weak.

Gasterblasters (Ranged Materialized, Ranged) 300 OM: His own trademark weapon to which he can summon up to two massive goat skulls in field. The blasters will shoot out white beams of light at his targets. In fact, Gaster can summon them from anywhere as far as thirty-five feet from him. Summoning takes ~3 seconds before use and ~2 seconds to shoot. Those who come across this attack will notice that his eyes will glow a purple aura.

Siphon (N/A) 0 OM: Due to his time in the Void, it has left Gaster deprived and so to maintain more stability, he needs the substance known as Omnilium to grow stronger. Of course, that would mean using his own shadow-like body to pierce defeated opponents and steal their energy.

TOTAL: 600 OM
OVERALL OM USAGE: 4800 OM
