Though I'm a good few months away at least, I've already been considering my third character for a few months. To give you an idea of why I'm considering so early, here are all my character switches to date:
1st character: Link -> Illidan
2nd character: Ditto -> Lich King -> Ditto -> Udyr -> Illidan -> Ditto -> Jim Raynor
So yeah. Don't wanna do that anymore.
After considering a fair few contenders, I've narrowed it down to three. They're listed in rough order of my desire to play them at the moment, though all three have been number one at one point and it may change in the future (hence all the thinking). My general theme for the third character is evil; they're all one form or another.
1) Gengar

Gengar is my top choice at the moment because of the freedom I would have designing him. With a lot of cool powers and potential powers, there's lots of room for creativity. Personality-wise, Gengar would be more of a prankster, preying on people's fear for his own amusement. That would definitely involve killing in some cases, but he's ultimately out for a laugh at someone else's expense. Plus he wouldn't take things very seriously, so a chance to play a goofball. I already have a backstory; he's the Gengar of the Elite Four's Agatha, and after she passed on, Gengar's set free, and then taken into the Omniverse.
Pros: Custom OC, cool powers, fun personality to write, fight scenes would be more creative/less conventional
Cons: Not super evil, some powers might be too similar to Illidan
2) Cell

DBZ being one of my favourite shows of all time, and Cell being my favourite villain of the show, it seems like a no-brainer. Cell has lots of powers and techniques to draw on, while having a fairly strong goal (ie. absorb androids) to help develop his initial direction. He'd be fun to write since he has no remorse, and has that creepy, unflappable confidence that is lots of fun to flesh out. Would be taken after his death at Gohan's hands.
Pros: Evil unrestrained, lots of powers, can drink people with his tail, writing fight scenes would be awesome
Cons: OM-expensive, might not have a lot of opportunity to fight DBZ-style
3) Venom (Symbiote)

Probably the most evil of the three. Venom would generally stay bonded to a NPC, taking full control of them, but I wouldn't use any specific Venom host from the series as I feel that constrains the character too much. The big draw here is Symbiosis; Venom would ideally bond to a lot of Primes, and creating Venom versions of people would be a lot of fun. Plus he can learn new techniques from Primes he binds to (ie. I buy with OM those moves that Venom 'takes') and maybe corrupt some good guys with bloodlust? Who knows.
Pros: Cool powers, savage and selfish, relying on fusion would be a cool twist
Cons: May have trouble forging an identity with lots of different fusions, I don't know Venom's history as well as the first two
Take your pick! Who sounds the best?
