A New World
#21
Quote:(OOC: Just a heads up. Going to be out of town June 7th - 14th. I should still have internet access, but my posts will probably slow down quite a bit.)

The buggy had caught up to Axorn, and was keeping up at a fairly normal pace. The engine was loud, but Triest was able to pick out most of what he heard from the other two. Erik seemed to come from a kind of fantasy world, well, at least with the sounds of magic, wizards, and the like. He did have to wonder what they had against psychics. He had never seen magic, but psionics were still something around in his world, although a bit of an oddity. They seemed the same to him, or at least could achieve similar effects.

"Me? I come from a desert world. Or at least, the part where I lived was a desert. The maps I looked at told of pockets of different terrains, but most of it was desert. Most of the area consisted of outposts and ruins from the past wars. I'm not sure who won, but nobody is left alive from that era. All we can find are strange relics and the tech they used against one another. Oh, and their stupid labs. What are the odds of getting gassed, and then having something labeled as 'cure' turn you into a spider? Unbelievable! And then find some inter-dimensional portal!? What luck! I'm still not sure if it's good luck or bad luck yet."

He paused, staring out at the space in front of him.

"So what about you Axorn?"

"I have to say, both of those worlds sound rather interesting." Axorn said. "I come from a world known as Tranquility, a future version of the planet Earth inhabited by hundreds upon thousands of different sentient species all with unique powers and abilities, and more, or different variations of existing species, keep popping up all over the place. The different civilizations use anything from medieval technology, like swords, horses and catapults, to futuristic alien tech, such as teleporters, laser guns, and high-speed spaceships. We are basically the epitome of equality, although, there are groups out there who wish to disrupt that, the newest of these groups, and the main problem when I got pulled in here, is the Dawnbringers, an organization that believes that the human race is superior to all other sentient beings and wishes to rid the world of the so-called "sentient filth"" Axorn made finger quotes with his hands as he said these last two words. "Thankfully, I had heard rumors of this place and had put precautions in place in the kingdom in case I ever got brought here, and if need be, I have a friend I can summon here who can relay information back home. It seems though, out of the three of us that Triest has the best luck seeing as he doesn't seem to have any unfinished business back home."

Axorn refocused his attention on the gate. "We're almost at the portal, be ready for anything."

Erik tightened his grip on the reins when they drew closer to the gate. He could already see several soldiers in white armour and some form of weapon in hand around the gate. He doubted they meant him harm but was ready to react if they did. As they approached the gate, Erik pondered what Axorn had told him. Humans who sought to exterminate all other sentient races for no reason? The thought seemed strange at first but then Erik grimaced. It wasn't so different to the execution of psychic humans in his home world.

When they were only ten or so metres from the gate, the soldiers became more tense. It was probably just a precaution but it made Erik nervous. 'Let's hope that we don't agitate them' thought Erik.

Triest wondered about the Dawnbringers. They certainly seemed like a warmongering race. With the wide tech gap, he wondered if the same conclusion would occur that had happened to his world. Total destruction. Hopefully not. He did leave plans behind, but he had to wonder how he got wind of this world. He had certainly never heard of it before he was yanked into it, but what about that portal? Did the broken civilizations know about it?

Triest smirked for a bit, then pausing for a few seconds, "I had a few minor things that I needed to finish. I guess my real problem is that I was never really going anywhere..." he sighed, "Guess I'll have to change that soon." He never really knew where he was going in his life. Survival was of the upmost importance, and that took up most of his time and focus, but he never really thought about where he wanted to end, what legacy to leave, if any. At least now it seemed like he got a fresh slate, and perhaps a world where he could truly set out to do something.

"Well, for now it still seems like I'm wandering at random still. Maybe I'll find that special spark somewhere."

The buggy slowed down as they came close, "I think I can fit this through the portal no problem," he remarked, giving a look over, "Do we have to check in with those guards over there first or something? Wait, why am I asking you guys? We're all new here."

Triest shrugged, looking between the two, and the guards, "I guess we ask then?"

"I guess we ask..." Axorn replied, unsure of what would happen next.

Axorn slowed down as he approached the portal and gestured for the other two to do the same. Axorn noticed that all of the guards were wearing the same white, futuristic, body armor with a deep black outlining the plating and black visors covering the eyes, making it impossible for anyone on the outside to see the persons eyes. One of the guards held out his hand, gesturing for them to stop.

"State your business." the guard said strictly.

"I am Axorn," Axorn replied. "and these are my friends. We have just arrived in this new world and wish to explore it further, and we thought this would be a good place to start. We do not mean to cause any harm and we come in peace."

"You may pass." the guard said, waving his hand at the others to clear a path. "Welcome to Coruscant"

The guards stepped to the side, making a straight path to the portal, staring straight ahead, unwavering, guns at the ready for the first signs of trouble. Axorn passed through on his hoverboard, not bothering to look at any of the guards in case he made some kind of rude gesture, as he did not know their culture. As Axorn slipped through the portal he felt the familiar tingling feeling of his body being disassembled and reassembled on the other side.

The portal layed ahead. It seemed as if Axorn had given them all access, and Triest briefly wondered what layed on the other side. Sure, the frame of the portal gave a few indicators, but it wasn't much. At least the guards weren't giving them much trouble. Usually, there was all kinds of nonsense when he tried to enter anywhere back home. Not many were used to mutants, but he supposed here, all kinds of things made their way around.

He slowly eased the vehicle into the portal. This was all too eerie, all too similiar, and then, well, he managed to catch one of those missing strands of his memory. Just how he managed to get here.

"This looks familiar."

Well, the gate back at home wasn't quite like this, but he was swallowed up by one right before he left. What manner of experiments were they conducting? Or did they even create it? Strange anomalies weren't unheard of, but, was that one of them?

The buggy slowly roved into the portal. What layed ahead? Adventure? Treasure? Discoveries? Hopefully answers. He had so many questions. What was this place? Who was that being he saw? Why was he here? Could he go back home? Did he want to go back home? He shook his head, and stared ahead, ready for what what ahead. Come hell or high water, here they come.

OOC: Not sure who wants to be first to post in the next thread. I'm guessing Axorn, since he's the leader of this thread. If not, then someone shout something.

Axorn and Triest both passed through the portal. Erik had never seen anything like it before. The gateway was made of steel and glowed in an unearthly way. The horse Erik was riding on was spooked by the portal but obeyed when Erik urged it forwards. Erik took one look behind him before passing through the portal. 'Into the great unknown.' He thought.
