“Looks like we’re getting close,” Dane’s voice called out from the top of the hill, echoing down to where the two fairies were still climbing. After getting worn out from carrying her friend, Cirno had set down the hell fairy, and was instead letting her use her as a crutch. Unfortunately, this meant that now they were moving a bit slower, but there wasn’t much they could do about it.
“About how far is it?” Clownpiece yelled back up, trying her best to keep their balance with every uphill step, lest they tumble back to the bottom. The hairs on her arm stood on end as the ice fairy’s chill slowly seeped through her. Once again, she found herself regretting not getting her winter dress. She swore, once they were out of this mess, win or lose, she was not gonna make that mistake a second time.
“Can’t be more than an hour at our current pace,” the swordsman dropped back into his normal talking tone as the pair finally crested the hill. “The hills might make it a bit longer though,” he added on after a moment. Far off in the distance was their destination. Safehouse A, nestled on top of a hill right in the middle of everything.
“Well, as long we keep an eye out, a bit longer is okay!” In spite of her throbbing foot, and slow, hobbling pace, Clownpiece remained optimistic.
“If it’s us, we’ll cut that time in half no matter how injured we are!” Cirno cheered, full of enthusiasm.
“Then we can rest, and eat, and nap...” The fiery fairy trailed off for a moment, imagining all the wonderful relaxation she could do there, where she didn’t have to worry about being ambushed. “Come on! Let’s hurry up! I wanna eat!” Dragging her friend along with her, she pushed forward, nearly losing her balance as the hill sloped down into dale.
“Careful there,” Dane cautioned, taking a step forward and steadying her with his good arm. “I know you’re excited, but we don’t need more injuries to deal with.”
“Right!” The two girls nodded earnestly, but limped on haphazardly nonetheless.
