Chakravartin snacked on some fruit that happened to be on a nearby tree as Abyss ate her fill of animal meat. He knew, intellectually, that it wouldn't regain sentience in her belly and try to eat its way back out, that the only planet where that was normal to happen was his own planet, but it made him uncomfortable all the same. The mountain's foothills got slowly closer.
Nothing was following them, that Chakravartin could tell. Abyss seemed to want to go for the item drop in Zone D, as far as he could tell. The one in Zone B was technically closer, but the forest might very well be more treacherous than the mountains for the squid. In the forest, Chakravartin knew that there were few places where one could know they were safe. You would have to keep an eye out overhead, behind every tree, and hidden in the brush.
The mountains held their own challenges, but hopefully they'd be able to get a better view of everything on the island, and would be able to see opponents coming from miles away.
The remains of some kind of large basecamp, long abandoned, came into view relatively quickly. "There could be people about." Abyss said, her eyes shifting back and forth. "I'll scout ahead, cause-"
"My eye?"
"I was going to say, 'faster than you' but that's a good point as well." The squid waved, and took off towards the camp, Chakravartin following at a slower pace.
They met up in the center of the area, finding a long-unused firepit. Abyss shivered slightly in the early morning air, "You know... I haven't gotten any sleep since this whole thing started."
"I was knocked unconscious for a time." Chakravartin said, "I can take the first watch if you want- ah, here we are." He took out the flint and steel that had been included in the starting bag, and made for the firepit.
"Wait- aren't you worried people will see us?"
"It's stil sunrise. The glare should prevent anything, and soon enough having a fire or not won't make us less or more visible." he said, "And I also want to see how my fruit taste roasted."
"...Fine. I'm gonna get some shuteye, for now. But wake me up in an hour! We need to keep ahead of the demons!"
"Of course."
