We stalk across the hills, and I stretch out my senses. Tch. I can hardly sense a thing. And my headache is worsening. I need something to eat, now.

I jump across the ground, not even caring that Vic is lagging behind. That old fart isn’t gonna catch anything. It’s my job.

Good thing I came prepared. I channel a surge of lightning into my bō staff, forcing the metal to melt and reform into a shape of my choosing, pushing and twisting with the jolts of electricity that I control. It takes me a good ten seconds – I’m tired – but eventually it takes the shape of a trident.

I spin it to inspect it. Beautiful craftsmanship, of course. A little known fact about this particular God is that I’m also a goldsmith and craftsman of sorts. I miss the satisfaction of working on my Ark Maxim. A God must indulge himself in some Creative measure, in order to balance out the Destruction. And Destruction is quite a large part of my job, so by necessity, my Creative measures are quite vast.

I trifle on! But right now it’s time to take a life. I scan and scan and scan until finally, something of substance finally crosses my radar. I grin.

“Hendy!” I call back to the slowpoke. “I’m off to kill, don’t wander off!”

He yells something back but I’m already on the move. I leap the distance, my lightning-powered legs taking me up into the sky.

I can see it now. Below me. It’s barely a dot.

My senses sharpen as gravity beguns to assert its hold on me and I fall.

I point the trident down.

As I grow closer, I see that it’s a large cat of sorts.

But I can’t control the angle of my descent. As the dot grows closer and closer, I’m woefully off target. So I make a lob with my trident …

But it’s way off. It spikes into the ground, and the cat, spooked, turns and runs.

My bare feet hit the ground with a thud, and I see the lion running off. “Tch!” I move after it, snatching up my trident as I go.

It’s quick. I’m losing it. I’ve got one chance.

I hurl the trident with all my might.

I see claret. The large cat drops.

“God-damn I’m good! Hendy, make us up a fire! We’re eatin’ cat!”

I turn around. Hendy is nowhere to be seen. Ah shit.

I sit down and wait for him to catch up.
