Female.
Takezo is from Japan, 16th century and is obsessed with becoming a master swordsman. He is not known to be the most friendly to possible opponents, however those who share his goals, but don't seek to directly oppose him (such as his childhood friend) have traveled with him. There can be many masters, but only one can be Immortal Under the Heavens (a goal ingrained into him from childhood.)
He can be quite kind to women, especially those with softer personalities. This is perhaps the only time he appears to be less than a demon of the sword. Strong women sometimes annoy him, but he still maintains a gentler hand until doing so puts his own life at risk. At which point, he returns to his merciless self-preservation-driven self.
While he isn't necissarily "Evil" he is very chaotic and happily ends the life of another to prove his strength or prevent a threat against his own survival. This cold outlook on the value of life (that his is above everyone else's) has given him the reputation as a demon among many who know his name.
Insectoids are a no-go, as are equines and bovines. I'm a fly-swatting, bike-loving, pasturized-milk-drinking kinda guy.
Edit: Though he does not rely on anyone (preferring to rely on his own strength) he is not against others relying on him. In fact, he has been known to actually do good when it comes to the protection of innocence. This is something of a caveat to the "Demon's" otherwise murderous reputation.
