It's not as such that your character has to be a combatant (either liking combat or focusing on it as their job or what have you). It's that they must be capable of fighting, because combat is a common thing on this RPG and you can't refuse to take part in it if, for example, you're cornered and challenged, or you have a bounty (which can be given for things like standing up to the Empire). That's how most IC disputes get solved. You're less likely to get forced into fights if you're avoiding combat and grudges, but that is how we do.

Mark is correct in everything he says. I guess it'd be like trying to play a D&D character who is entirely non-combat, or going to Pizza Hut to buy a salad. We love battles so we built a setting where they are frequent and spectacular. If you're not taking part (and most of the large storylines REQUIRE combat), you may feel pretty excluded.

We do have other players such as Guu who don't enjoy combat as such, but she still has a number of moves to defend herself should her usual galas and worldbuilding get interrupted by snarky villains. You might want to instead focus your powers on debilitation (making your enemy weak and unable to fight) or support. Both of those still involve taking part in combat.
