Forest Elf!

Some would argue that elves are not really monsters, but to these people I say "Screw you, this is my thread and I do what I want :wat: "

Anycase, forest elves suffer the same fate as all elves, which is being driven from their homelands. Be it in medieval or modern worlds the only elf that fits into a human society to any extent is the half-elves (elf human hybrids), and even they are racially discriminated. There are some exceptions across the multiverse, of course, but in most cases where humans have settled on the lands where elves live as the native species they have driven them out and forced them into hiding.
Forest elves are the sub-group of elves that live exclusively in forests, and are strongly attuned to nature. Many of them even turn into dryads, or at least know the forest spirits and can communicate with them. They are skilled bowmen and mages, they climb trees like monkeys, move swift as a gust of wind and have the eyes of a hawk. They are, however, fragile in stature and have little physical strength. They love nature greatly, especially the flora.
In a modern world like the one Cole lives in, these elves are miserable compared to the ones that were "only" forced to live in the forests and who could force the humans to cut back on felling trees (see what I did there?) to build their houses or for firewood, with their weapons if necessary. Humankind was able to drive them back further as their armaments began to outmatch that of the elves, and their increasing demand for wood has driven the elves back further and further, with their homes made smaller each passing day. There are very few remaining and most hide among humans while feeling terrible about how nature gets destroyed.

Where does Cole come in here? As a Blue Lantern, symbolizing hope, he would be confronted with someone who has little hope and is in need of help - not just her but an entire race that has no more room on Earth, almost. And if the Blue Lanterns are anything like the green ones (those are the only ones I know much of) they would be able to help the elves by finding a new, beautiful planet for them to travel to, thus giving them hope, and arranging for space travel there. The Blue Lantern corps would also benefit from that in the long run, bringing up an entire civilization filled with hope for a better future will no doubt boost their power and possibly their ranks (again, presuming that they function like the Greens).
The elf that Cole initially met would be beyond grateful for his aid, throughout all stages of arranging for the exodus of her people. To her, Cole will not just be one of the Blue Lanterns that aided the Forest elves, he will be the one who started it, who stood up for them. And while elves aren't the sort of species to show their gratitude by bedding the other person, she would remain close to him and be far more open to him than to others. This closeness and openness may evolve into a good friendship, or into more. Forest Elf isn't going to push it, nor does she desire Cole all along. They'd work together to get there.
