So long as it's fair to everyone, I think automated system would be awesome. I'm always down for ways to improve efficiency.
Regarding the rating system, it kinda seems like looking for new upvotes would kinda work the same as nominating a thread does now? I could be entirely misunderstanding it, though. In both systems there would be something to notify that a thread was voted as worthy of a bonus and both would require action to change OM along with a log edit. The only difference would be how the bonuses are decided.
If we could somehow fix the broken word counter that the site uses and have it spit out word counts for us and generate log posts with a button, that would be perfect. Not totally sure if that is a doable thing, but I'd love to see it.
