The gunshot rang through the emptiness. The smile dropped from Rin's face as the human solider drooped in his saddle, the life fading quickly from his eyes until they were nothing but dull glass. Energy zapped from Skullface's hands into the elf's chest. The elf too, was silenced. Silence filled the whiteness, save for the sounds of dying conflict in the distance from the gate they had come from. The motionless bodies sat on the blank void like black holes sucking in the darkness. It was impossible to turn away.
"You killed them."
Rin stared at the two guards. They didn't awaken suddenly, or spring back to life. They just sat there.
"They were just doing their job, why did you kill them, Skullface?" She looked up into the cold hollow eyesockets. "You're evil." Her face remained as motionless as his, but Rin could feel the anger bubbling up inside her. Anger and power.
They had done nothing to warrant such violence. And he enjoyed it. Skeletor enjoyed making those soldiers kill each other. Like a quickly rising tide, the power welled, moving from her gut and spread up to her lungs. And as it filled her core, Rin's eyes flashed with danger and her eyes clasped together in front of her chest.
Skeletor raised his havoc staff in realization, but a moment too late. White energy was released, shocking forth in every direction. The white ground cracked underneath Rin's feet, which shook as her legs trembled from exhaustion. Through bleary vision she could see Skeletor flat on his back a distance away, thrown by the blast.
She hadn't used that much power since she had escaped the fanfiction site. Her breath came in ragged gasps. The ground suddenly tilted sharply to meet the side of her face. Consciousness left her.
"You killed them."
