Thank you both for the answers and clarifications, gentlemen. And as it so happens, I have remembered one of the other questions I had when first posting this.

On the subject of Integration...
I understand the concept of merging with inanimate objects, and strengthening and augmenting yourself as a result. But what about merging in the opposite direction? Such as, say, instead of absorbing a boulder, you merge with it and emerge on its opposite side, or elsewhere along its surface? Or doing the same with a wall, the ground, etc? I've seen this abound in one form or another around and about and thought I'd ask, just for the possibilities it might open up.
