Akame needs a warm-up.
#42
First off I would like to sincerely apologize for the rather absurd delay in getting around to this, Just now starting to fully recover from holiday madness and the like. But here we go!

Also one thing to keep note of here is that I'll be using a somewhat....different scoring system of my own creation. A brief overview of how it works is in a spoiler, if you're curious:
General Fight Notes: Just a brief section of thoughts regarding the fight before any official judging/scoring, tossing things out off the top of my head. Things I liked/didn't like, things I noticed or any comments I might have in general, that sort of thing.

Word Count: This is a simple one to three judgement, based on whether you exceeded the word count in any post(s) or not.
Time Call: Another simple one to three judgement, based on whether you were over the time limit in any post(s) or not.
Missed Posts: Another simple, but much more severe judgement, also on a one to three basis, depending on whether you missed any post(s) altogether.

As an aside, any ratings in the Word Count or Time Call categories will each imply a cumulative -1 penalty to your Total Score, while a Missed Posts rating will impart a -2 penalty, which can have serious impacts on the final outcome of things.

All scores are assigned on a range of one to ten. Those familiar with the 'usual' 1 to 5 grading scale for each category in fights, the scoring is still similar, merely removing decimals to keep everything to whole numbers. For instances, a 5 would be equivalent to a 2.5, a 7 to a 3.5, or a 4 to a 2; it all comes out evenly.

Quality: Overall writing quality, including things like description, clarity and 'storytelling; ability; how well you 'show, don't tell', essentially.

Technical: Covering things like sentence structure, spelling and grammar, and things of that like.

Realism: How well you followed the flow of combat, represented your character's capabilities according to stats and the like.

Scale: The general level of 'awesome', from a subjective point of view. How interesting and 'epic' it was, I suppose you could say; how much 'weight' it had.

Skill: This is something of a 'bonus' category, for things like something the reader finds extremely clever or the like, such as a good plan or for SP usage.

Total Score: The average of your other scores, plain and simple.
And with that said, here we go with the judging!

General Fight Notes

As I mentioned in the OOC thread a time or two, for the first couple posts neither of you really hit full stride to make maximum use of the allotted post length. That generally isn't a bad thing, per se, but it isn't exactly a good thing either, as while it won't hurt your score, as you have less room in which to make mistakes that way, it won't really help it, as you have less room to 'show off', as it were, and really demonstrate your writing. Aside from that, though, I did kind of like just the cut and dry jump right into the action of things. Not much else to say on this front, though.

Akame

Word Count: Zero out of three.
Time Call: One out of three.
Missed Posts: Zero out of three.

Quality: 6
— Overall good. Work on more showing, less telling.
— Work on being more clear with things, elaborating a little more with description.

Technical: 5
— Slightly above average. Watch for word usage.
— Brackets and coding are real killers when you miss them.

Realism: 4
— Could be better, could be worse.
— Catching a sword barehanded, generally a bad idea. But it wasn't completely downplayed so it's still good.

Scale: 5
— It felt important enough to matter, but it didn't really have any...major weight behind it.

Skill: 2
— Nothing truly outstanding. Interesting trick with throwing the sword, but nothing truly out of the ordinary that stuck out.

Penalties: -1

Total Score: 3.4

Dawson

Word Count: Zero out of three.
Time Call: Zero out of three.
Missed Posts: Zero out of three.

Quality: 4
— More showing, less telling.

Technical: 5
— Nothing really to comment on.

Realism: 3
— Things were mostly kept fairly average in terms of consistency and realism, given the stats, though there were some hiccups here and there.

Scale: 4
— Dawson sure didn't want to fight. That felt like it mattered; he was fighting to survive and not much else.

Skill: 3
— Nothing above and beyond that really stood out. Going for the incapacitation with leg removal was an interesting idea.

Total Score: 3.8

Akame: 3.4
Dawson: 3.8

WINNER: DAWSON GUIDO (or Jupiter, I guess?)

Apologies again for the delay here, folks.
