I think there's a key difference, though. You can't normally summon an artefact. The only reason why you were able to create one is thanks to the Essence of Omni you received as a reward from DA.
Likewise, just like how you can't simply summon an artefact at your leisure, so too you can't simply disintegrate the artefact into OM. Think of an artefact as being similar to the One Ring from Lord of the Rings; it can't be destroyed by any regular means. It required special material in order to craft it. It would take an equally special method to dispose of it.
