A news reporter was talking to a Powhatan chief, conducting an interview for a human interest story. The reporter asks the man what his thoughts on the colonization of America are, and more specifically, whether he thought that the colonists had improved their way of life at all.
The chief sits there smoking for a while, composing his answer, and then removes the pipe from his mouth with a smile.
"Before white man came, we had a system. Women would take care of all the work at home, men would hunt and fish all day, have sex all night."
The chief put the pipe back into his mouth, smoked a little more, and looked wistfully into the middle distance. "Only white man foolish enough to believe he can improve system like that."
