Oh, this one's gonna suck.
He had to admit that he was enjoying himself. Taunting his opponent was originally supposed to be a type of experiment, just to find out if rage would interfere with his foe's little future sight trick. The mercenary was pleased to see that he was apparently right, but unfortunately, his curiosity made him forget this was an actual fight, and he watched his opportunity to just end the battle right then and there go up in flames.
Alain pushed those thoughts aside for the moment and, still under his invisibility, flew upwards before gaining a few bursts of speed, landing behind the barricade furthest away from his furious foe. The mercenary couldn't feel pain, but he could definitely feel fatigue, and keeping this up was starting to affect him. He took a few deep breaths, and sat down against the hard stone. With luck the now hatless pirate wouldn't be able to keep the storm up for long.
He took a peek after five or so seconds, only to see that his opponent's blender type maneuver was tearing apart the arena. Normally, the pirate's dagger wouldn't be able to cut through the barricades, but the immense strength of the wielder made the tiny little blade cut through the stone with ease. It didn't take a genius to figure out that if this hit him directly, he'd be dead, no questions asked.
The mercenary desummoned Sresveltr and crawled out from behind his cover to retrieve his bow, trying to minimize his chances of being hit. Dirt and stone flew in his face, but at least he wasn't dead yet. Retrieving the bow and three arrows after an agonizing minute, Alain stood up and nocked the first arrow as quickly as he could, letting the projectile fly in a mere two seconds.
"You've gotta be fucking kidding me."
His confident smirk faltered when the arrow hit flying pieces of what used to be the stone barricades of the rebel side. If there was one thing he hated, it was being screwed over by nothing more than bad luck. The mercenary spat blood onto the nearby ground, a part of him acknowledging just how badly he must be injured for that to happen, but he was so annoyed by his misfortune that it was just a passing thought. Alain nocked the second arrow without the smirk, instead scowling furiously as he took aim.
The arrow impaled itself in Luffy's thigh, just as the dagger split the bow, and both his middle and index fingers in half, sending blood across the dirt. Aside from briefly being glad that he didn't feel the pain, the mercenary's only response was to summon his Odachi once more, gaining a burst of speed and flying over the trench, slashing the crimson blade across his opponent's stretched leg. The pirate, blinded by pain and not wanting to lose his leg, had little choice but to tear the stretched limb out of the ground, stretch his arms to grab what little remained of the rebel flagpole, yell something that Alain did not hear due to the deafening cheer of the crowd, then using his improvised handhold to propel himself through the air, and to safety. The mercenary scowled and flew to pursue.
The pirate managed to pull the arrow out of his thigh and roll to his feet just in time to evade the strike that would've severed his head. At this point, Alain just wanted to get this over with. "Gomu g-" The pirate began, only to get another slash across the ribs for his trouble.
"If you think I'm not going to interrupt you every opportunity I get, you're mistaken." Alain snarled, slashing at his foe's head once more. Luffy ducked under the blade and, panicking for just a split second, lunged with his dagger. The mercenary's sword wasn't designed for it, but nevertheless he tried to block.
The dagger, with the unbelievable strength of the pirate wielding it, pierced through Sresveltr. It shattered like crimson glass, the fragments dropping to the ground like blood. "Well, how about that...?" Alain muttered, delivering a swift kick to his opponent's stomach in the split second it took for them to comprehend what just happened. The pirate stumbled and dropped the dagger, the mercenary quickly retrieving it and preparing to fight with the improvised weapon for the minute it'd take for his blade to reform.
