Hideaki's 'Quick' Question
#2
Minato Namikaze Wrote:it wasn't really a quick question, so I'm responding in a thread.
First off, sorry for that, and thanks for getting back to me.

Minato Namikaze Wrote:When a Prime summons a secondary to the Omniverse, whether it's on purpose or by accident, the secondary retains any and all memories up to the point in which they were taken from. A prime can't specifically chose what memories they do and do not keep (we as players get the liberty of choosing from when and where our secondaries come).
Yeah, that's what I thought originally. I blame Sasuke for confusing me! Tongue

Minato Namikaze Wrote:Something else to address is that you can't summon secondaries that aren't from your universe, the fact of that matter being that your character just won't know them and it would make no sense.
Except that we know that that isn't true, not only because Proto Man himself summoned a chocobo sfter playing FFII (as I previously mentioned), but also because of the discussion we had on the subject in the vs Ultramarines thread.

Minato Namikaze Wrote:In regards to summoning a secondary, Unless they are a summon or an assist and you're spending SP for it, I wouldn't try it, It's something I wouldn't think would be allowed.
Makes sense, I thought as much.

Minato Namikaze Wrote:If they did kill themselves and the plan was to re summon them, then it would be the same secondary memory wise but also technically a different copy of that secondary. But why would you want to do that? that's just less story for you to write (which means less OM). It also seems a bit like you're trying to game the system.
Good to know, and I wasn't planning on actually doing it myself... or at least, not having my character do it; but don't you think it seems a decent way for Secondaries to perforn recon/assassination missions? If this is actually a legitimate possibility then it has the potential to have a huge effect on how the Omniverse works. Obviously the cost of constantly re-summoning people would be prohibitive to its actual use, but at the very least people like Palpatine & Aragorn should have no problem (the Rules even state that they have at times accidentally summoned groups of people whilst building their cities, so both must obviously possess vast amounts of OM).
And no, in case what I've just said hasn't already cleared that up, I'll clarify that I certainly hadn't intended the question as a search for exploitable mechanics.
It's just that if this kind of thing can be done, then it only makes sense that it will be done, and as such might be an interesting thing to mention in a story at some point.

Minato Namikaze Wrote:For the recall thing, I'm going to say a flat out no. The fact of the matter is, if you're in that position, anyone who was putting you in jail would simply take your weapons/ items away from you and you wouldn't be able to teleport out at all. Don't just assume that they would keep your items while you're in jail. The people putting you there have been here longer than you, the also know more about the world than your prime character.
Oh yeah... I forgot it required you to have a Communicator on you to activate it. I guess the exception to the rule would be people like Guu, with their own personal hiding spots for their items. Swallowing her Dataverse device was how she managed to hide it in prison before, after all.

Though that was only Langweilig... I guess places like Coruscant and Minas Tirith might be expected to have methods of locating even well-concealed items?
