Yeah. Some cars it's an upgrade.

Mine, Nissan's tuned the intake so goddamn well that a CAI will always be a downgrade unless you couple it with a tune and supporting mods.

I hope the car gets fixed because I've been saving for a supercharger.

So far my car likes the CAI. I'm planning a turbo install on mine. However it's a hefty price tag. First though I'm going to get the front pipe, over pipe, and headers changed.
