Mondays - Trixie - 09-28-2015 Got my car back from the body shop. Quarter panel looks brand new. I haven't had the car since last Monday. Of course now my passenger window does this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-_Jsf2RWW4 Just...*sigh* Re: Mondays - Magus - 09-28-2015 At least you have a car. It's been 3.5 weeks now and my insurance still hasn't decided what to do with my car AND won't credit me for the month I haven't had my car. Said puddle overwhelmed her and now I need a new engine. This is made more difficult because it's a 35th anniversary edition and there's like 700 in Canada. Re: Mondays - Magus - 09-30-2015 Trixie Wrote:Did the cold air intake think it was a fish filter? Yeah. There was basically a flash flood. Tons of cars were affected, mine included. So choked because it's been this long and I still don't know if they'll fix it and I'd really like for them to. Like what the fuck. Make a decision and do something. Re: Mondays - Trixie - 09-30-2015 Magus Wrote:Trixie Wrote:Did the cold air intake think it was a fish filter? Ouch. We have a small flood area near where I live with the reservoir for Columbus' water supply and several creeks. My intake sits just outside my fans inside the front bumper, but it's high and aligns with the frame of the car that mounts the radiator. I'd have to really dunk the front end for it to suck anything up. I hope they fix it <3 I read the shit you're going through from your status'. Here's hoping it's resolved soon. Re: Mondays - Magus - 09-30-2015 Yeah it would have probably been ok without the pointless CAI. The car came with it and it doesn't do shit for me except make the intake louder and its ability to drink water more effective, apparently. Hell, it probably has less horsepower with it than it would have had w/ the stock intake. Completely worthless. Re: Mondays - Trixie - 09-30-2015 I replaced my stock with a Perrin CAI and the stock Catback with an Invidia one. Car sounds really nice now. Re: Mondays - Magus - 09-30-2015 Yeah. Some cars it's an upgrade. Mine, Nissan's tuned the intake so goddamn well that a CAI will always be a downgrade unless you couple it with a tune and supporting mods. I hope the car gets fixed because I've been saving for a supercharger. Re: Mondays - Trixie - 09-30-2015 Magus Wrote:Yeah. Some cars it's an upgrade. So far my car likes the CAI. I'm planning a turbo install on mine. However it's a hefty price tag. First though I'm going to get the front pipe, over pipe, and headers changed. Re: Mondays - Magus - 09-30-2015 Nice! I'd prefer to go the turbo route but a decent turbo setup would cost me about $20k. $10k for the kit/parts and $10k to build the bottom end so it doesn't grenade the first time the turbos spool. Supercharger setup w/ parts will run me about $6k new and won't make enough power to blow the engine up in stock form. Re: Mondays - Trixie - 09-30-2015 Magus Wrote:Nice! Hah yeah. My kit including install will be run about 10k, but that's an internally gated turbo. From what I've read 300 HP is the max on my stock gearbox before I start seeing problems so I figure I shoot for 300 and have them externally waste gate the turbo. Re: Mondays - Magus - 09-30-2015 Yeah for you a turbo probably makes sense; you're rocking a 2.0 right? My cap is ~400 whp but it's a 3.5 and it's both the transmission and the bottom end that can't really be pushed beyond that w/o putting money into it. Re: Mondays - Trixie - 09-30-2015 Magus Wrote:Yeah for you a turbo probably makes sense; you're rocking a 2.0 right? Yeah it's a 2.0L Boxer motor from Subaru. Re: Mondays - Magus - 10-01-2015 YEEEAAAAH! Got a call today. They approved an engine Nissan sourced for me. It's got half the mileage of my current (dead) one. I'm told best-case I'll take delivery of my car w/ a non-Flintstone powered engine on Friday next week. Re: Mondays - Trixie - 10-01-2015 Magus Wrote:YEEEAAAAH! Damn straight! Wooo! Whatever happened to the Pontiac? Why'd you get the 350z? Re: Mondays - Magus - 10-01-2015 Sold the Trans Am many many many moons ago. Just couldn't grow a mullet spectacular enough, y'know? Nah, I got into a really bad wreck doing illegal things I shouldn't have. Fixed it and sold it & bought a Cruze Eco thinking it would keep me out of trouble. In fact, it just made me depressed - the car has all the makings of a spectacular car but so many little problems that I'd not recommend one to anybody. Drove that for a few years before someone blew a stopsign and both our cars were totalled in the resulting crash. I decided "fuck boring cars" and found a minty 35th anniversary 350z and picked that up. Definitely doesn't have the straight-line grunt the TA had (a 363 whp 5.7L'll do that for ya), but it's way more fun to drive/much nicer to live in, and an absolute beast around bends. I've been racing a lot this summer (legitimately - like, on a track). Hope to keep it a long time. They're already selling for $10k more than what I purchased mine for, so I'm glad the insurance company's willing to fix it. One of 2500 made. It banks corners and on/off ramps like a pro. They actually sank the motor down lower in the engine bay to give the car such a low center of gravity. It's fucking amazing to drive. And yes. It's a 6 Speed. |
