An unavoidable destiny
#3
Walking at a steady pace Erik reaches the city. Making sure his face wasn't easily recognized he arranged the cloth in order to cover up most of his face. A dark shadow made it difficult to make out his face. Erik's pace slowed down as he neared the gate, there were two guards standing at the city gates. He would only arouse suspicion if he walked into the town like this. 'Pardon me. Would you mind stepping aside please, sir?' A heavy voice said behind him. Looking over his shoulder he saw another merchant with a cart filled with goods to sell. 'Of course' He stepped off the path and made room for the much larger cart. As the vehicle passed he followed it heading towards the gate.

Just a little bit further before he reached the gate, placing both of his hands on the back of the cart he pretended to assist the cart. Both the guards didn't seem to offer the merchant and himself a second glance. They probably see salesmen enter and leave the city on a regular basis. Once inside he parted ways with his unsuspected accomplice and started to roam the town. If he learned one thing over the years its best to gather intelligence at a place people are willing to share. And where do people share more then what's good for them . His face showed a small grin as he stood in front of a tavern. 'Perfect'.

He entered the building and found his way to an empty chair in the darkest corner he could spot, sat down but did not order yet. His eyes scanned his surroundings and got comfortable in the chair. It was midday so not many were drowning themselves in the beverages offered by the establishment. Near him there was a middle-aged man complaining about the misses, his conversation partner did not have anything better to say. All he could do is complain about his wife's horrible cooking. 'Insignificant worms, is that what they are whining about. They are waste of space and existence' He couldn't listen to another minute if their wailing and redirected his attention to a younger blonde haired man that was having a conversation with the female bartender. He was obviously overdressed to impress her. ' These meaningless petty concerns are beneath me, I've made a mistake coming here for information' Erik was about to get up when he heard a commotion outside.

'It was a prime, a prime took him from this world!' The yelling, screaming and commotion grew larger until he could hear an entire mob gathering near the tavern outside. A young boy stood in the door opening quickly bringing word of the news 'There has been a murder, a Prime murdered a child' As quickly as the boy appeared, he vanished back outside just as quick. The people within the tavern didn't hesitate long before getting up and going outside to see what was going on. Erik stayed seated until they got out before getting up himself. He made sure his clothes were covering enough of his face and outfit and walked out the door.

'Not all primes are bad, justice will be served to this murderer. We will find him and hold him accountable for his actions' A different voice shouted to answer the initial angry voice. The mob seemed to be in agreement to this. Erik wasn't going to stick around here to see where this scene would lead. At a normal pace he finds a way through the mob, accidentally bumped into one of the rioters but he kept up the momentum. The man turned around and suspiciously followed Erik's movement through the crowd. Poking the man next to him and pointing towards the covered up escapee. But it wasn't the eyes of some strangers that was bothering him, there was something else, another presence that was making him feel uneasy. A presence he hasn't felt in a long while.

Erik got clear of the crowd and it wasn't long before behind him someone called him out. 'Hey ! You there ! Hold up' Glancing over his shoulder he saw two man coming his way. Erik didn't see a good outcome if he engaged the duo in conversation and decided to keep walking. They didn't seem to agree with this decision and they stepped up the pace to stop him.

'I said hold up' One of them men placed his hand on Erik's shoulder.

'Remove your hand' The mutant responded to this action with a threatening yet low voice.

' Now hold up stranger, we cannot simply let you walk away from something like this. For all we know you are the murderous prime'

'And you think confronting a stranger like this is a smart idea ? Your primal like intelligence keeps surprising me. I suggest you let me be. I won't say it again you filth.' Breaking his shoulder loose from the grip he continued to walk towards an alleyway, hoping he could either catch his breath or handle this little problem without causing too much commotion. Yet something is still not right, what was this feeling that Erik just could not shake?
