10,000 hours to perfect your writing skills and style? Yeah, I'd say that sounds about right.
That's if you're counting creative writing exercises in school, etc. and concerted efforts towards practicing, as opposed to literally just every time you're ever put a pen to paper or hands to a keyboard. The amount of time I've spent humming in my life is surely staggering, but I certainly can't say I've mastered singing. In the same vein, I've been reading and writing all my life, and that certainly helps as far as roleplaying, but since I've not put in countless hours of concerted effort to improve my writing, it's by no means perfect.
