What's in a name?
#1
What inspired your character's name? Random, latin based, or just a lovely ring to it?

Names can be like music to our ears and completely exclusive to our character. They can be beautiful, make us smile, and even have exaggerated or ominous tones. Is a person hyper or low-key? Names are like first impressions, and like it or not they can say a lot about who we are and what our aspirations might be (think, seven deadly sins from FMAB.)

It's funny how a single letter or an excess syllable can effect the outcome of a flowing word rolling off your tongue. Don't believe me? Take a consequential letter out of a well known name or your own. "Goku might become Gok (which resembles the verb gawk), or Ichigo becomes Igo (which sounds more like ego, and might give an impression of excessive height) and L from Death note becomes nameless and his intrigue goes down, at least in my opinion because it no longer stands for where my mind wants to ponder: An unrefined basis of implied priority.. Logic or law?

It's amazing how allegories or allusions can be matched with how a name sounds while the origin can directly relate to multiple sources of history (Alexander the Great, Joan of the Arc) or other characters told in stories/ fairytales that captivate us with their legacies (Zoro a swordsman from One Piece.)

Not just for original characters, feel free to post your own input as to what you think might make a character's name more defining with their other features: amiable, mysterious, or perhaps even adventurous.

P.S. It doesn't have to be a character from this site either, any media inspired name or otherwise intriguing moniker can fall under this thread, as we ask the question:

What makes a name fit?
