Yes and no.
There's a couple of reasons for the ruling that I can kinda deduce:
1) It's simpler. Rather than counting posts - especially for something like a fight with 5 people (would your 1sp T1 give you 2 posts or 3 posts for its duration) - it's just a standardised "1sp for a post, double that for a round".
2) You have to consider that you're the one writing that first post. It's one post with you writing your character with a T1 transformation, and three posts with others writing them. In my opinion, that first post is probably going to have a lot more "value" than a single other post - because your character is in the spotlight.
So, yes in the sense that "I get 4 times as many posts with these stats" but no in the sense that for some of those posts, you won't always be in the spotlight. Your character could be off at the side doing something else, or just taking a back seat depending on who's posting. And even if your character is present and active for all 4 of those posts, that first one that you write is probably going to be a lot more potent judging-wise.
As for "real-time" outside of fights, it is strictly double the duration.
