Taking after your character in real life
#8
A character I used to play, Super Buu, was designed to be the complete opposite of me. Completely unselfconscious, completely amoral, a rude, thrillseeking berk who acted entirely on impulse.

He changed over time, became a bit more like me (I have a habit of being unable to keep my bad guys bad - which is why I set out with Enel to make a bad guy who didn't become sympathetic) and I also started seeing that not every part of him was bad. I was 17 at the time, very shy, very thoughtful and introverted. I've definitely taken on more of Buu's traits, become cockier and cheekier and less self-conscious, as I recognised the positive sides of some of those traits by exploring Buu's persona - that some of those things can be enjoyable, not just selfish.

The fact that people tended to conflate how I wrote as Super Buu with how I was, I guess, helped. I was totally different from Buu, but it became easy to slip into his mode of speech in chat, so ... in some ways unconsciously I trained myself to be more confident with him in mind.
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!
