What Are Your Favorite Video Games?

Can someone tell me why Undertale is so loved? I've had two goes at it and the most time I played on either attempt was twenty minutes before I got bored.

Hmmm...

Well, Undertale is not a game for everyone. The graphics are a mixed bag. They're often dull and ugly. Toby himself would only give his game an 8/10.

However, I genuinely loved everything else about it (I cried when I fought the final boss in the Pacifist Run.) except for three things. Undyne's development. The structure of the Genocide route. And one final choice in the Pacifist route which, if in the game (it's not), could've actually given me more of a dramatic conclusion.

Undyne's development: So, you're in a world that's biased against you. Fish woman tries to murder you. And the game is heavy-handed on its themes about friendship. You're expected to make friends with her. You don't have to be BFFs forever, but the game expects you to make friends. To give us more development of Undyne's character, they could've given us a scene where Undyne realizes the horrible things she was involved in. We saw that Asgore was pressured by his people to send the Royal Guard to claim human souls. So, in my opinion, Undyne's character should've been developed a bit more.

The structure of the Genocide Route: Too grindy for me. I know the game itself tries to discourage you from killing everyone, but in my opinion, the Genocide Route should've been about a mixture of grindy killing and far more Royal Guard enemies to fight. The bosses were great though.

The Final Choice: We should've been given the option to tell the rest of the monsters about Asriel. I know it would break their hearts, but in a game where choices matter, that final option showing up would've made the game a lot better.

Welp, at least it's better than Life is Strange, right?
