I love lots of games, so I've only picked a small amount. This is in no particular order.
Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War (up to Dark Crusade)
This game is a god-like RTS. Engaging gameplay and great 40K narratives throughout the expansions. Haven't bought Soulstorm, yet, though.
Super Metroid
Nintendo's pixel art generally ages very well throughout the SNES library and that's no different for Super Metroid. There's a secret room inside a secret room inside a secret room, an amazing world to explore and epic abilities to use against enemies. However, I had to use a walkthrough to get the grapple beam because I'm a shit explorer.
