Mock Fight IC- Jak and Marcus Wright vs Ebony and Dane
#8
Many, many, thoughts ran through Dane's head. While some were completely irrelevant to the situation, such as trying to internally explain why the mean number of coin flips required to get 'heads' is exactly two, the vast majority of them fit a term he only recently learnt from some of the Dante's Abyss spectators on the forums: 'salt'. If he understood correctly, he was salty. He wasn't quite sure about the origin of the term, but he didn't care. That subset of English was a useless subject compared to the wonders of mathematics, physics, and the arcane. In essence, his teammate was useless. She ran around like a headless chicken and forced him to keep his eyes on her lest he lose the artillery support she provided.

Admittedly, thinking about maths in a fight was probably also a bad idea, but the split second his mind had pondered the coin flipping question he'd been kicked into the air. And now, because of that, he really wanted to know. Why was he even thinking of that questions? Because guns brought pictures of Russian Roulette to his mind, an interesting game he'd discovered through the use of the dataverse. Roulette was chance based, and flipping coins was also. Hence the coin flipping question. He'd have liked to get a really nice proof by symmetry or something similar but reckoned it wouldn't be hard to create and simplify an infinite series.

Dane picked himself up to his feet, wincing. His opponents had gotten new paint jobs: an angrier than usual guy, and a demon thing - although both looked tame compared to the flesh eating monstrosities he fought back at his homeworld. "Hey, so do any of you guys know the mean number of times you need to flip an unbiased coin before you get heads?"

"What?"

"What."

Two male voices replied similarly, both with different tones. Nearly all tension from the fight was lost.

"I mean, I'm pretty sure it's two. I was just hoping you guys could give me some inspiration for a nice clean way to prove that."

This time, however, he just got two growls. Not that their responses mattered, his actions would have stayed the same regardless. While the conversation was amusing for Dane, it also served the purpose of allowing Ebony to fall back. He just hoped she'd stay out of the way and cast spells like she was supposed to. Since she'd followed his initiative, or simply her own fear, sooner than he'd expected, that left Dane with the ability to end his discussion early, which he did.

Slam.

His shield met Jak's hastily braced arms. As heightened as the Elf's reflexes were, Dane's quick burst of magical speed combined with the unpredictability of the motion limited his ability to dodge. Following through, Dane diverted his magic towards the first of many swift and powerful strikes, bringing his blade down towards Jak and hoping Ebony would provide enough support to cover his back from the range.

If you wanna know, when Dane reffered to an infinite series, he meant a somewhat convoluted method utilising the fact the expectaion, or mean, of something is equal to the sum of the probabilities multiplied by the values. In this case, probability it's that many coin flips times the number of coin flips.

I based Jak and Marcus stalling from Dane's words because asking a maths question in the middle of a fight is stupid and they literally just transformed.

Dane's using his T1 Super Attack - Magical Enhancement on Jak.
Dane has 2/3 SP remaining.

Base stats (1/2/3/6) as usual.

Ebony is probably going to shoot Marcus with something by the time he reacts (likely a homing knockback thing, maybe charged).

Also, Marcus needs a roster update. I can't find transformation descriptions on it. You should probably brush over Jak's as well at some point.
