Mock Fight IC- Jak and Marcus Wright vs Ebony and Dane - Jak Mar - 08-01-2017 Jak’s footsteps could be heard on the old arena’s flooring as the sound of metal boots hitting the ground echoed in the dust. It was deathly silent but he could hear the breath of another besides him. Seemed like the human besides him found himself in the same position as Jak. The terminator turned to the eco warrior and eyed him “Hope you can fight, stranger.” The knife-eared hero stretched out his arms and said “I think I can handle myself in a fight, stranger. Looks like we’ll be working together. The cyborg turned his head and frowned “We got put together randomly, let’s get the job done.” Marcus was none too happy about being thrown in a fight as much as Jak was. The yellow-greenish haired warrior cracked his neck and looked at the terminator for a bit before sizing up their opponents. One was much more serious toned and held a sword and shield combo while the pink dressed female looked to be skilled in magic and looked like she came right from a anime. Marcus side-eyed Jak and pointed at their opponents, pinpointing the man with the shield while he lifted his gun out. Jak followed suit as he raised a eyebrow at the cute girl. He thought she was a little cute but he’d have to take her seriously for a bit. The arena dust was beginning to pick up as it began to blow Jak’s red handkerchief rather dramatically while Marcus summoned his leather coat while he desummoned his resistance coat. Jak didn’t look over as he nodded “You ready, partner?” Marcus nodded back “As much as you.” The cyborg’s grip on his gun was tight as Jak’s was in his hands. “Let’s show them teamwork at its best.” Marcus smirked “I can deal with that.” The soldier lifted his gun as the clunk-clunk sound was heard. “Maybe you can teach me a bit of tricks sometime.” Marcus shrugged “Let’s get through This fight first.” Marcus didn’t care that he was fighting a edgy girl or even didn’t question the fact she was a kid. She wanted to challenge them. That’s what mattered right now. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 360 for the intro RE: Mock Fight IC- Jak and Marcus Wright vs Ebony and Dane - Ebonywood Hellscythe - 08-02-2017 This was a bad idea. Ebony looked around the large coliseum. It was empty, and the sun was beginning to set down towards her right - it would soon be low enough for the whole arena to be shrouded by shadow. She felt open and exposed with no cover to hide behind. The rough sandy and dirty floor had already left a few marks against her black boots, yet she'd only just walked in through the entrance; she dreaded what they'd look like after the fight. The fight... What do I do? Ebony hadn't participated in anything like this before. She'd trained and practised fighting. But nothing real. Nothing where anyone could properly get hurt. Nothing where she was faced with actual people. And those people were talking. Just talking to each other, and occasionally glancing at her. She looked towards her partner. Her teammate. They hadn't spoken before, maybe they should now. Maybe they could even be friends. Slowly, Ebony walked towards him, straightening her cloak and shirt as she did so. Small specs of sandy dirt flicked up in the air behind her feet, creating a cloud that sat on the still air. "Umm... Hello?" The swordsman turned his head towards her quickly, shaggy blond hair majestically flowing in the wind. She thought it looked dumb and stifled a slight laugh. "What." He stated the word as if it wasn't a question. Although Ebony assumed he meant it as one. Raising her palm up to her face, and slowly waving it sideways in time with her answer, Ebony spoke. "My name is Ebonywood Hellscythe." She paused, looking at his blank face. "But you can call me Ebony." He sighed. "Hello, Ebony. I'm Dane. Nice to meet you." Ebony blinked and hid her head further under her hood as he reached out with a hand for her to shake. Trying to make an excuse to avoid him suffering the same fate as Vulre, she lightly slapped it, making a high five motion. He laughed, and she smiled at the happiness Dane displayed. She liked it when people were happy. Abruptly, the chuckling stopped. "Alright. Team talk. Tell me what you can do? Got and range? Melee? I can't plan for what I don't know." "Umm... I can cast spells...?" Dane frowned. "There are a bunch of spells. I need to know what kind, kiddo. Explosive, homing, controllable, defensive stuff, supporting stuff, and good old energy bolts. Y'know. The good stuff." "Oh... umm. I can cast an 'energy bolt' one. And make it go boom! And chase people." Dane paused, as though thinking. "What about melee? How strong are ya?" Ebony started to reply but he cut her off. "Eh, I'll find out eventually. Let me take the front, but if you've got a sword or whatever get it ready." Quote:Site said it was 487 words. RE: Mock Fight IC- Jak and Marcus Wright vs Ebony and Dane - Jak Mar - 08-03-2017 A silent hint of music runs through Marcus’s mind as he’s plagued of memories of his past along with hints of lyrics screaming at him “She’s trying to kill the Rooster, He’s NEVER GOING TO DIE!” It made Marcus wince a bit from the outside as he seemed irritated. Something about these two he didn’t seem to like for some reason. It left the eco warrior staring at his “ally” for a second. “Hey, PAL! Snap out of it. “ The terminator blinked as the loud, blaring lyrics stopped playing in his mind for almost a half a second. Seemed like Skynet had a penchant for annoying the [i]shit[i\] out of him at times. The man muttered a few words “Damn Skynet, i swear.” Jak raised an eyebrow rather harshly and frowned “Am I going to have to ask what the hell Skynet is?” Ebony had to question why the leather coated man was talking to himself. Dane raised his eyebrow too, thinking in terms of a giant net in the sky, not a sentient supercomputer who wants to kill humans. Jak cleared his throat “Do you guys know what my ally’s talking about?” Dane shrugged and looked over at Ebony “You know anything about that?” She blinked and frowned “Not a clue.” Jak stretched out his arms and looked over at Ebony “Let’s make this clear, I don’t plan to hold back, neither does my ally. In fact, he won’t.” Jak eyed his partner “and please stop with your Skynet mumbling.” “Kind of creeps me out.” The terminator soldier wasn’t one to give his trust out so easy even if it was in a fight. Marcus nodded, just silently observing Ebony and Dane as he seemed to be doing something on the inside of him. He spoke “I don’t plan to go easy on neither of you. I hope you remember that when we fight you.” His voice was more directed toward Dane, who seemed to be staring right back at the man. Jak smiled and frowned “Why don’t we introduce each other, make it more fun to know our opponents.” Ebony smiled or was it smirking “Ebony.” Dane nodded with a frown “Dane.” Jak frowned “Name’s Jak.” Marcus was quiet “None of your business.” The soldier gave Jak a deep glare that could scare the crap out of anyone “I can speak for myself perfectly fine.” Jak stepped back a second “Fine, Fine. Have it your way.” “Don’t speak for both of us. “ Quote:416 words/ Jak and Marcus having a bit of ally tension. RE: Mock Fight IC- Jak and Marcus Wright vs Ebony and Dane - Dane Regan - 08-05-2017 Dane was originally being nice for appearance sake. Turmoil between teammates was the last thing he wanted. Initially, he'd considered that one of his potential opponents would be a much better match for him - capable of stomping the opposition. But, upon seeing the dissent between the two, he reconsidered. Ebony was easy to manipulate, and she'd undoubtedly let Dane control both her and the general team tactics. If she was to be believed, she would definitely be valuable, to an extent. Dane just had to keep her protected. She was a prime after all, and most primes weren't exactly weak. He just questioned her mental resolve. Hopefully, if he poked her with a stick or something she'd explode. Either way, he knew he'd be taking the brunt of the attacks from the two foes. The clock was ticking. Minutes remained. "Contestants. Please return behind the designated lines." A robotic synthesised voice was broadcast throughout the area. Two parallel white chords were painted across the circular arena floor, each equidistant from the centre and positioned close to the arena edges. Walking together, Dane guided Ebony towards their area. As a token gesture, he waved over his shoulder. "Good luck." Jak seemed to notice, but the other, Marcus, was looking at his teammate disapprovingly. "Alright, Eb. If you've got a weapon, get it ready now." They were both safely behind the boundary, awaiting the signal to begin. Ebony still looked unsure, but that wasn't Dane's concern. As long as she was useful, he'd be good. "60 seconds." The same synthetic voice echoed. "Think of it this way, I need you to protect me. When I go out there, they'll both be attacking me, which is unfair. They could stop if they wanted, but they've made it clear they have no intention of doing so. Thus, I'll need your magic to assist me. And for that, you need to stay back here: safe. So, if you have a weapon, summon it now. If not," Dane unsheathed his shortsword, holding the handle towards Ebony, "take this." "I'm... I'm fine. I've... I'll just show you." Standing in her signature pose briefly, she started chanting - throwing her arms out forwards before stretching them sideways. "Forces of the darkness, stand by my side. Grant me a weapon, lest I have to hide." "10 seconds." Dane raised an eyebrow, staring at the scythe. It was an impractical weapon, but considering her magic he assumed she had a few tricks to go with it. Not enough to beat him, of course. Dane braced himself. "Don't worry about me, Eb. Just keep casting and don't stop." "Okay... I'll try." She smiled faintly under her hood. As bad as this was, it was much better than when she had to fight zombies at the Steppes. And with that, a loud bell sounded, ringing across the arena. Dane sped forwards before the announcer could even complete its statement. "Fight: start." Quote:Added an IC reason for why everyone didn't start fighting sooner. Ebony summoned her scythe. Both teams are at opposite ends of the arena. RE: Mock Fight IC- Jak and Marcus Wright vs Ebony and Dane - Jak Mar - 08-13-2017 The fight had begun at the sound of a bell going off. Jak gave Marcus a look as he summoned gun “Follow my lead, I have a plan.” Marcus was quiet and summoned his own gun. “As long as you have a firm one, partner.” Jak didn’t respond and focused on summoning his first gun, not too big but big enough to leave a mark. Just as Ebony started to speed off with her scythe, a large blast was heard “KA-PHUM!” the noise went. Soon after, a blinding light made Dane and Ebony wince from trying to see and a mushroom cloud went into the air, as the terminator used the distraction used by Jak to go after Dane. Dane didn’t expect the distraction so soon, but soon faced the cyborg in his face, frowning “Have you ever heard the term “Never take a knife to a gunfight, pal? You’re about to find out. “ The gun was aimed at Dane as Marcus let one off as Ebony could finally see again, gasping at the cyborg already on the medieval man. Ebony tried to 2 on 1 against Marcus but before she tried to help, Jak was already on her. “Where are you going?” Before Jak could reload however, ebony was already pulling out a spell against the eco warrior as it forced Jak to retreat a short time. Dane was matching the Avenger’s own gun with his own shield but instantly regretted getting up so close before Marcus grabbed him and began to pummel him. The cyborg was a terminator and he felt no qualms about killing. He felt no fear. Ebony once again tried to pull away from Jak after summoning a spell to distract the man from helping the terminator on Dane. 294 Words/ 500. RE: Mock Fight IC- Jak and Marcus Wright vs Ebony and Dane - Ebonywood Hellscythe - 08-13-2017 "Ebony, get out of there!" Dane growled, leaning into his shield to push Marcus away before moving back into close range with maintained vigour. The fight was fresh and thus the combatants were barely warmed up. That coupled with the fact Marcus only had his fists to use against the swordsman meant he was able to excel in the close proximity, regardless of how tough his opponent's skin seemed to be. Despite this, Dane still seemed very frustrated - not quite operating to his full potential. "I told you to stay out of the melee, dammit." Ebony flinched, body temporarily locking up from the pressure. First, she was attacked by her opponent, and now her own teammate was yelling at her. She was beginning to realise how much of a mistake this was; as things were, she barely even remembered her reasons for fighting in the first place. "Y-you looked like you needed hel-" Slam. "Oof." Jak's foot collided with Ebony's chest, knocking her upwards; a short breath of air left her lips from the shock of the impact, scythe still in hand. The gushing movement of the generated wind groped against her hood, pulling it back and revealing her long black hair. Time seemed to almost freeze as Jak tamed his blaster on her still body - she was at the peak of the motion, all kinetic energy converted to gravitational potential. Jak was reasonably skilled, so it was no chore for him to estimate this height prior to her reaching it. Smash. Bang. A hard lump of metal supported by a mix of wood and leather met Jak's shoulder, shunting his arm and causing the blast to miss Ebony by a hair's width - nearly singing her cloak. "You can help me more if you-" Dane paused abruptly, swinging his sword at Jak swiftly and forcefully. His aim wasn't perfect due to the sheer strength behind the strike, but the speed allowed it strike hard, scraping against Jak's shoulder and drawing a fine spray of blood. It wasn't a vital target, but it was sure to be painful. Expectedly, Jak reeled back, grunting while Dane steadied his stance, continuing to ignore the shallow bullet wounds in his chest. His shield had slowed them enough to stop them reducing his capabilities, but that didn't prevent the pain. Marcus caught back up with the group shortly, while Ebony clambered to her feet, leaning on her warming weapon. Small fearful tears dripped from her exposed face. Dane snarled, positioning himself between the two and his teammate. "Just stay back and use your magic." Scrappily, Marcus and Jak swarmed Dane, aiming to use their numbers to provide a strong advantage in melee - likely assuming he wasn't worth the bullets. This fight was between primes, after all, such things often continued longer that one might expect. Shifting sideways, Dane quickly put an end to that tactic by positioning Jak between him and Marcus while raising his shield - should Marcus or Jak try to create an opening for their ally, it would be trivial for him to sidestep back to the current position. "What? Scared of a little metal? Perhaps you shouldn't have brought guns to my swordfight." Quote:531 words. Went a bit over but we agreed that was OK. Didn't get to focus on Eb as much as I'd have liked, but I figured sorting out the chaos of the fight was a more pressing issue. RE: Mock Fight IC- Jak and Marcus Wright vs Ebony and Dane - Marcus Wright - 08-15-2017 Jak groaned and started to wrap his injured shoulder, wincing from the pain of being hurt from Dane’s hit. He grunted it off. “You don’t know the half of it.” The sudden injury made Marcus eye his teammate and frown “Let me hold them off.” Jak frowned “No, not yet. I have something else in mind. “ The terminator shrugged and eyed Jak carefully for what he had in mind. “Be careful, this Dane guy likes fighting. If we can hit Ebony, he’ll be forced to defend her.” Jak had another plan, he slipped his gun back in place and waited for Dane to be distracted by smack talk before he used it. Dane had been distracted, however allowing for the eco warrior to kick the medieval like man up in the air into a juggle like move. Ebony frowned ‘DANE!” Marcus frowned as he growled, letting himself grow stronger. “Sorry, Shit talk doesn’t get you far in a fight.” Ebony’s magic would be hitting random spaces but somehow missed Marcus as a target. Not too long after, after several combos of kicking, Jak slammed the man into the ground and stopped. A roar was heard and a headache insured from the Wastelander. The beastly side of Jak was out and he wasn’t about to be tamed. The beast had dark black horns, purple eco lightning shocking around the feral man, white hair and also purple skin. “What the hell?” Quote:Marcus used his power up. RE: Mock Fight IC- Jak and Marcus Wright vs Ebony and Dane - Dane Regan - 08-15-2017 Many, many, thoughts ran through Dane's head. While some were completely irrelevant to the situation, such as trying to internally explain why the mean number of coin flips required to get 'heads' is exactly two, the vast majority of them fit a term he only recently learnt from some of the Dante's Abyss spectators on the forums: 'salt'. If he understood correctly, he was salty. He wasn't quite sure about the origin of the term, but he didn't care. That subset of English was a useless subject compared to the wonders of mathematics, physics, and the arcane. In essence, his teammate was useless. She ran around like a headless chicken and forced him to keep his eyes on her lest he lose the artillery support she provided. Admittedly, thinking about maths in a fight was probably also a bad idea, but the split second his mind had pondered the coin flipping question he'd been kicked into the air. And now, because of that, he really wanted to know. Why was he even thinking of that questions? Because guns brought pictures of Russian Roulette to his mind, an interesting game he'd discovered through the use of the dataverse. Roulette was chance based, and flipping coins was also. Hence the coin flipping question. He'd have liked to get a really nice proof by symmetry or something similar but reckoned it wouldn't be hard to create and simplify an infinite series. Dane picked himself up to his feet, wincing. His opponents had gotten new paint jobs: an angrier than usual guy, and a demon thing - although both looked tame compared to the flesh eating monstrosities he fought back at his homeworld. "Hey, so do any of you guys know the mean number of times you need to flip an unbiased coin before you get heads?" "What?" "What." Two male voices replied similarly, both with different tones. Nearly all tension from the fight was lost. "I mean, I'm pretty sure it's two. I was just hoping you guys could give me some inspiration for a nice clean way to prove that." This time, however, he just got two growls. Not that their responses mattered, his actions would have stayed the same regardless. While the conversation was amusing for Dane, it also served the purpose of allowing Ebony to fall back. He just hoped she'd stay out of the way and cast spells like she was supposed to. Since she'd followed his initiative, or simply her own fear, sooner than he'd expected, that left Dane with the ability to end his discussion early, which he did. Slam. His shield met Jak's hastily braced arms. As heightened as the Elf's reflexes were, Dane's quick burst of magical speed combined with the unpredictability of the motion limited his ability to dodge. Following through, Dane diverted his magic towards the first of many swift and powerful strikes, bringing his blade down towards Jak and hoping Ebony would provide enough support to cover his back from the range. Quote:499 words RE: Mock Fight IC- Jak and Marcus Wright vs Ebony and Dane - Ash - 08-28-2017 Quote:COIN HAS BEEN FLIPPED!! RE: Mock Fight IC- Jak and Marcus Wright vs Ebony and Dane - Jak Mar - 08-31-2017 As the dark beast growled, it made the dark prince scratch the ground with his nails as Dane kept his focus on the darkened version of the beast. Having Dane take the brunt of the two allowed Marcus to plan his own moves, The terminator looked over at Dane and the dark beast going at each other. What was this magic ebony was convinced was going to hurt him? He cursed remembering that magic here wasn’t just an illusion. Omniphysics convinced him otherwise. The terminator eyed ebony in a brief smirk “So you like magic? Sorry to say girl, not all places have time for magic. ” Marcus spun his own tube of liquid death and he held it in his hands “This is it, pals. Your final night here. You want to spend it doing something worthwhile? The terminator saw Dane’s eyes widen and take his eyes off the beast as he tried to go protect Ebony as the dark creature frowned and growled “Your battle is WITH ME!” The dark beast immediately hops to the ground slamming his purplish fist on the the ground, unleashing a powerful burst of dark eco that spread, lightning hopping like electricity. However the magic hit at the same time as the beast’s attack and dane’s super clashed in an impressive clash of colors. Anything close by would feel a rush of dark eco on the arena floors as Ebony’s own magic clashed with Jak’s dark side’s powers, ending up with a clash. Jak’s athletic and acrobatic skills made it easier to dodge Dane’s slashing that time due to having quicker feet as he bent himself down to avoid Dane’s sword to slash at his arm again. Meanwhile Marcus felt like he was not getting worn down but then again he was a terminator. He brushed aside his magic burns as that of a burn from a spark. His target was lifted up and carried toward the arena steps and thrown hard into the stands, where Marcus was about to deliver his own killing blow. 314/500 And Done! Quote:Jak used Master acrobat, and T1 Super- Dark Bomb on Dane. 3/5 SP used for Jak RE: Mock Fight IC- Jak and Marcus Wright vs Ebony and Dane - Ebonywood Hellscythe - 09-05-2017 An explosion rocketed throughout the air, harmlessly slamming Marcus away from Ebony and sending his syringe spiralling out of his hand, disappearing over the edge of the arena. A misty green fog shrouded Ebony as she yelped in surprise, unaware, yet thankful, of the spell. Had she been more adept at combat, she might have capitalised on the opportunity and pressed the attack against Marcus with her scythe. But she was not. Dane, however, was. Jak could only evade him for so long. While faster, there was still a matter of skill, and that was where the swordsman shined. Out the corner of her eye, Ebony saw the glint of steel reflecting one of the day's last beams of sunlight as it thrust forwards towards Jak. The elf had just landed on his feet after dodging a previous attack, and this time shifted to the right, the direction of the first foot he landed on. Dane followed with the pursuit, flicking the blade in the same direction and cutting Jak in the side. It barely pierced his skin, but it drew blood. Swiftly following up, Dane's shield found itself on the demon elf's face before Dane yet again dashed in with his sword. The dark elf dodged, throwing a punch. Dane braced swiftly, letting it catch on his shield. He skidded back slightly but again pushed back into his fight, ignoring Ebony after the explosion and seeking to win his current duel instead of wasting his efforts protecting her. Ebony steadied herself, using the scythe for support. After focusing for a second, the blade shifted in form, flickering slightly before returning to its usual shape, except this time it was a purply translucence in colour. Perfect. While she missed the window to capitalise on the failure of the Terminator's attack, she hadn't left it so late to jeopardise her own defence. Although, while initially surprised, he was now making his way back towards her. "You have some nerve, girl." "Flames of the abyss, inc-" He dashed forwards, slamming a fist into her gut, interrupting the spell. "Listen to people when they're talking to you." Flailing, Ebony's scythe blade met her aggressor's ankle, phasing its way through the limb with no resistance. Marcus flinched, not expecting the somewhat accidental counter attack. He looked back up at her in slight confusion upon seeing no visible wound. "Was that supposed to be a joke?" Ebony scrambled backwards, still standing with the aid of the staff, but unstable. Her stomach lurched and she groaned slightly. Marcus was moving towards her yet again, mechanically, like a robot. Leaning forwards, she swung down with all her might, bringing the ethereal blade arcing down towards the man's head. He grunted, catching the staff with crossed arms raised above his head, the blade pierced both limbs, falling short of his face. Again there were no visible wounds, although there was still a distinct muffled feeling of pain. Besides that, nothing else was noticeable, yet. Quote:496 words. |
