Torn's Big Break
#17
"Heroes?" the captain repeated, incredulously. "Did you take a chunk of ferrocrete to the head when you were smashing the hell out of that prison? You're nothing but a murderer. Broke in here, cost who knows how many people their lives, and probably a lot more their jobs. So many people and families to notify now. So many reassignments to be made. Good men and women, now nothing but coffin-fodder and losing their assignments. Not even mentioning all the damage that'll have to be repaired, all the paperwork that'll need to be filled out. And all for what? To save somebody locked up in a prison? We don't put people in here for no reason. Did you ever even stop to think about why he was in here?" He let out a short, harsh laugh. "Hell, for that matter, how you even knew he was in here is beyond me."

The captain turned aside, shaking his head. "But y'know, we should thank you for one thing. This made a good example. A good look at what we need to be expected to respond to and deal with at a moment's notice. Some crazy, rogue primes stirring trouble, making things dangerous for good, honest citizens." He turned back to glare at Jak from beneath the faceless visage of his helmet. "What would you have done if there'd been civilians in the area? Or Emperor forbid, in the prison? Visitation exists. If they'd been in there when you broke in and your prisoner pal had started shooting up the place, got caught in the crossfire between a bunch of rogue primes and a mentally deranged inmate, how many might have died or gotten injured?" The twisted scowl on Jak's face spoke volumes. "That's exactly what I fucking thought. You didn't even stop to consider it."

For a moment, the captain went quiet, studying the eco warrior intently. "....Sergeant. Deliver a warning shot." A single bolt of bright red energy erupted from a blaster near at hand with a sharp pew, and hit the elven man squarely in the chest, just below the throat. He went staggering back, dropping to one knee. Clutching at the injured area, coughing and hacking. "Damn primes. Trying to summon something to help you? Takes a lot of time and effort. You really think you had the chance to do that?" He shook his head. "Idiot."

The captain turned away. "We're done here. Hit him with an EMP, fry that damn recording he was trying to be clever about. Then give him the Emperor's Mercy." The sound of his boots striding away, clicking and clacking on the stone of the immediate prison grounds, couldn't overshadow the metallic clinking and clattering of a grenade rolling into place and detonating with a cacophonous boom and electrical crackling. The sound of hundreds of blaster bolts, turning the air into a sizzling wasp's nest of Imperial-brand Justice, sounded just a second afterward. The wet, pathetic chunk of a charred, broken body hitting the ground after the deadly salvo was music to the captain's ears.

"Command. This is Captain Rath Triald. The primes responsible for the break in part of the prison break in T2-D30-8597 have been handled. Two of their accomplices have gotten away on a hijacked vehicle. The prisoner they were breaking out, and an animal. May be a secondary. Prisoner was wearing a suit of armor from one of our troops. Should be easy to track down the improperly sealed unit. Lock it down and put an end to their ride." He strode away toward his own vehicle, sighing. "Getting too old for this..."

Elsewhere in Coruscant, just a few streets over, the vehicle that Torn had taken in his escape attempt moved with the most speed he could muster out of it. Damn it all, this plan had gone to hell. Caught as soon as they stepped foot out of the prison. Empire really was crawling all over the place.

A single alert crawled across the internal HUD of the stormtrooper helmet that the man wore. Alert. Unauthorized use of Imperial equipment detected. Locking down. As soon as the message was complete, the armor seized up. Joints locked in place, the plates of the armor constricted, and the helmet snapped into a locked position. It was suffocatingly tight, and the air filters to allow for breathing weren't online. With his foot firmly clamped down on the accelerator, and his limbs unable to work to steer whatsoever, the vehicle might as well have been a rocket.

It hit the side of a building, accompanied by the wailing shriek of a terrified ottsel, and was reduced to a crunched, smashed pile of slag.

Moments later, a trio of soft impacts hit the compacted wreckage. Three red lights blinked softly in unison, before a massive boom erupted, with a huge pillar of fire and a deafening FWOOSH. All traces of the wreckage, and any chance for the survival of its occupants, was wiped out in a huge fireball.

"Command, this is Streetsweeper 317. Cleanup is done. Targets taken care of. Might need a cleanup detail..."

Quote:Jak has been killed. He will respawn at the Fountain of Infinity in seven days, as per normal death rules. He is banned from Coruscant, and the Empire will place a bounty on him if he is spotted within Coruscant.

Torn and Daxter have also been killed. As secondaries, they will not respawn but can be resummoned.

Have a nice day, and thank you for accepting Empire Justice.
