Would appreciate it if you keep the center formatting, Ganon. Jcink and IPB boards always have the same bbcode, so it ain't difficult to keep those the same. Just keep a tab open with the ad page. CTRL+C, CTRL+V, bam.

For me it's only screwed up for proboards and other boards not among the common types. Once you get rolling it's easy.

Also, like 75% of the sites I go to, you've already posted on or they only allow ads from current member, so it's hard to find any I can advertise on.

I know a bit about SEO, and if Google catches on to this, you will be penalized for having brought links. If you make the HTML coding go link this, it should be fine as far as HTML links go

I don't know about the other bits of coding.

I having trouble getting a website up, but it's going to be an amateur SEO one. Once it's up I'm willing to give your site a once over and show its situation SEO wise. A bit of a case study.

I'm not super knowledgable about this stuff, so I looked it up to figure what you were talking about and got "put rel=nofollow in the button code or google may get pissed". Is that correct? Should I also do it for the other site's buttons on the index?

Mostly confused because nobody is exchanging buttons here, just the ad. Do I need to alter the ad itself in some way too?

First question: yes. Well, more likely annoyed if they notice, since this is nothing major.
I don't know how the other coding works, so I can't advise you there. A few mentions here and there should not harm your rankings.
You don't need to alter the ad at all.
Just add that small bit of coding and you should be better of.

Of course, if Google is not a main way you get visitors, then it is not as important as getting word of your site out, but I figure it can't hurt to help cover this base as well.

Edit: the only way you could alter the ad was if we find a way to make that noFollow. I'm looking that up now.

It's actually coincidental since I've been editing our meta description and site title today in order to put us higher on google rankings, so the help is much appreciated! I'm trying to boost our results for terms like "multiverse roleplay" "crossover rpg" and such. As you said, it's not going to be our main source of traffic, but it certainly doesn't hurt.
