Ganondorf is a very strong character, but I wouldn't avoid diving into the small things that make him fallible. I feel like the whole death/ressurection arc was a nice way to start exploring these things in a little more depth. I know he's the master manipulator (who's also a badass warlock who can smash-punch people to death) but don't be afraid to continue to explore the side of him that's more 'human' (yes, I know he's Gerudo, just a figure of speech). This competition, with the limitations it places on people, could be an excellent way for Ganondorf to continue to deal with the struggles of not-quite-omnipotence. You're one of those people who I think wouldn't suffer from losing an early F2F, because you're the type of person who could easily rebounded to a better-off place than where you were.
